Futuristic Into the Dark

After some effort, Caitlyn finally finished packing her medical supplies. She stacked to two boxed on top of one another and picked them up. "Bring them to Alex, right?" She said to herself, forgetting her instructions. Her mind had many thoughts racing through it that she forgot.

Alex casually watched the exchange between Islia and Arthur. He was surprised to find out Arthur was a farmer, but it wasn't surprising since Alex wasn't one to dig into people's pasts. After Islia began to walk towards the front of the ship, Alex tried to restart a conversation with Arthur, who seemed to be taking this landing idea harder than Alex was. "Hey, how-", he was interrupted by the chaos caused by the engines, which caused Alex to finish his sentence with a phrase that is inappropriate for little ear. "Sorry, I have to-", Alex was out the door before he could finish. Alex was in a dead sprint as he tried to think of what happened. We're hit, by what? Alex turned down a corridor which led to a turret, meanwhile the lights had stopped flickering.

Adalric turns as Islia begins to ask him to teach her the basics, and then the lights suddenly flicker. There couldn't be many reasons the light flickers. "The maintenance room" he absentmindedly responds to Islia's question". Somebody caused the lights to flicker. He subconsciously begins murmuring to himself again. "Power aversion, but why would they suddenly cause a difference. They probably have been taking from us for a while now. Flickering lights... A stealth tactic of a sort I suppose, but that would mean they plan on coming out of hiding. We need to find the intruder quickly". He readies his sword, getting ready in case there is a drastic change in the immediate vicinity, and at the same time trying to figure out where something could hide without anyone noticing.

By this time Adele and Sebastian had found a planet that may, or may not be suitable for a temporary home. It rested a mere ten hours away at the current speed they were going. It shared some possible characteristics of Earth. There was water, it sat a good distance back from the sun. Not too far, yet not too close. However, there were some oddities to it. Three moons, each varying in size circled the planet, which was roughly three times the size of the old Planet Earth. It was unknown to Adele and Sebastian what resided on the hopefully habitable planet, though this was the best shot they had.

The young leader steps up to the control systems that float in the air near the front of the ship. He taps along each surface, setting their destination.

Sebastian glares at the monitors he stood in front of when the ship shudders and creaks. As the electricity begins to falter, he'd begin tapping angrily on a central screen floating in the air in front of him. Static traces its way over the screen, rendering the system momentarily useless. He turns around to point at Adalric, "You stay here and restore our systems. Insure permanent damage hasn't been caused,". He begins pacing off toward the generators, as that's where he expected the most amount of damage. He was unsure of what had caused the sudden outage, though he had hoped it was just a bit of faulty wiring. Sebastian calls back to Islia over his shoulder, "Islia, with me. Your lesson will have to continue later,".

As he reaches the doors to the Generators, he frowns as they refuse to open based on his motion, as they usually do. "Odd," He remarks with a sigh, slowly pulling apart the broken doors with quite a bit of force. He slips between the narrow space he created. The lighting in the room had been broken, perhaps permanently. Though this didn't deter Sebastian. With this, Sebastian slips past the doorway, and Into The Dark.

Adalric watches as the pair leave the room. He stands in front of the monitor and watches the static. "It might be fixable, but it might take a while and I want to go investigate". He shakes his head. "This isn't the time. For now I need to fix this". He begins fixing it, watching the door just in case the intruder enters.

Surging up in reticence, epinephrine spiked and resulted in Islia’s heart pumping hard, sending blood saturated with the necessary neuronal tools for survival to her muscle fibers. Adalric’s words set off millions of alarms in her brain, all warring over bringing their conclusions to the foreground of her mind. An Intruder? A system failure? Is this the end? …It is – it’s not! But it could be… What could it be?

Islia felt the chill settle in her feet and hands and she flexed her fingers, willing the circulation to return. Audibly, she inhaled through her nose and released the air in a slow, heavy stream. Her eyes were fierce, watching intently over Adalric’s shoulder as he navigated the controls, debugging and assessing the situation. Her body stiffened at the sound of her name, but before Sebastian could finish his command, she was behind him.

*********

After Sebastian forced his way past the failed doors of the engine room, Islia slipped inside behind him, her eyes useless in the void of dark that surrounded them. With the aid of a vertical bar of dim light piercing through the darkness from the doorway, she could still make out Sebastian’s back in front of her. She cursed herself under her breath for not having her solder on her person; the flashlight on the end of it could come in handy now.

“Sebastian, it smells like bad wiring in here. Perhaps...” She let her hopeful thought trail off. The wiring was contrivance of something else. But what?

Alex sat tensely in the large gun, but it seemed there was nothing for the turret to destroy. Still he sat scanning the stars, looking for possible threats, waiting for a moment when the enemy would suddenly appear...

It didn't come. It was only after several minutes that Alex noticed that the ship didn't seem to be evading fire, and came to the conclusion that whatever had caused the problem was internal, not external. As he began to get up from the small gunners chair, Alex realized just how tense he had been, almost falling to the floor as his muscles acted up. After Alex was sure that he was ready to go again, he began his way towards the life support systems, mainly the air recycler. His logic was that it was most likely the engines, which was where everyone else would go, but it's never bad to do a check up on the life support systems. Especially if you have a secret fear that the ship would pump itself full of carbon-dioxide on one of the random malfunctions everything seemed to get.

Sebastian turns his head to look at Islia, "If it were faulty wiring, this would have happened the moment the ship took off,". He approaches the generator which looms ominously over he and Islia. Without the lights, it's a massive figure in the dark. Soon their eyes would adjust, though it'd still be difficult to do much without some lights. "I need to you fix the generators," He says to the blue-haired woman, then pressing a small earbud that lies within his ear. "Adalric," His voice would crackle into existence inside the flight deck, and only the flight deck. "No signs of a forced entry here. Seems like the generator just got overloaded and blew up. Tell me if that's the case. Please,".

The people inside the cargo-hold, who are now stuck without power or lighting, begin to panic. Some begin running around the ship in hopes of finding Sebastian. They'd rush past Alex and Caitlyn, some attempting to loot the medical supplies for themselves. Clearly, being in a spaceship without power in the middle of nowhere is not soothing to the nerves.

Sally buried her face in Arthur's chest as the lights flickered. Arthur held her a little tigher, standing awkwardly while everyone else ran around. He didn't really have much to offer in a situation like this.

"It's okay, they'll fix it. Lets go home" he said, heading in the direction of the cargo bay. He passed some men heading in the opposite direction. It was odd, the only thing back that way was the flight deck and the infirmary.

"Where are you guys headed?" He asked. They paused for a moment, considering their answer.

"Dunno. Whats going on?"

"Nothing. Some minor power problem." He motioned for them to follow him. "I'll explain in cargo bay."

People were huddled in groups all over the steel floor. The sound of scared people all trying to whisper over each other was deafening in an unsettling way. Arthur lowered Sally onto the floor and lead her over to one of the other parents on the ship. He bent down.

"Sally, I need you to stay with, Gretchen for a little bit"

"I can't see?" Sally's voice was trembling.

"Theres nothing wrong with the dark, Koneko" He said, kneeling down to reassure her. He put her hand into Gretchen's. "Gretchen is going to take care of you for a little while. I'll be just over there."

Arthur stood back up, navigating the cluttered hall by the dim light which a few people had managed to rummage up. Reaching his pack, Arthur removed a torch, giving the dynamo a few quick turns. He climbed onto a box and shone a light round.

"People!" He called out, "PEOPLE! I know you are all concerned that the lights are out."

Someone called out "Screw the lights! What's wrong with the ship!?". Arthur paused to consider his responce.

"We don't know right now." He reluctantly admitted. There was a wave of worried voices.

"LISTEN! People are working to found out what's wrong. But I do know that the consoles in the flight deck are fine. Now, everyone be quiet. QUIET!"

Somebody shouted "Are we out of fuel?"

"Sir, please quiet down. Now, do you hear that? That hum. It is that same damn humming that kept me awake for my first TWO WEEKS. That's our engine, still chuffing along. So believe me; the ship is fine. The lights will come back on and Sebastian will be here soon to explain that everything is OKAY." He had no idea if this was true, but it was what people needed to hear. Arthur paused to let the message sink in. "So, I'm going to sit down, I'm going to read my daughter a story and I'm going to wait until its time for my dinner; Just like every other day"

Adalric begins speaking into the communications to Adalric and Islia. "Well diagnostics aren't going so well, but it appears some power has been going to a room on the third floor known as 7B. The diagnostics aren't telling me why the power suddenly flickered, but if you care to hear I can tell you my thoughts on this situation".

“Aye sir.” Was the only response necessary for Sebastian's request. The first order of business would be to check the wiring anyway, as the nature of a ship this old could cause corrosion and burnout at any point. This was the most likely answer, but Islia didn’t bother to bore Sebastian with the detail. “I will need to return to the deck to evaluate repair efficiently – given the lack of power and light, it will be impossible to be effective.” With that she turned on her heels, preparing to return to the light. Looking off to the side, she added: “You should come with me Sebastian. As I mentioned earlier, you should address the ship. Who knows what the others are thinking and it’s been long enough without word from you to cause fear to fester.” She cleared her throat, pausing in decision, then decided to leave her remaining thoughts to hang.

*******

Upon re-entering the flight deck, Islia immediately went to Adalric’s side and, after he informed her how, she began re-evaluating the generator and engine output, trying to diagnose the higher level issue that caused them to malfunction at all. Strangely, the system wasn’t docking any particular overload. She switched over to the fuel cells and immediately noticed something was off. The majority of the cells were linked directly to the generators and reactant distribution subsystem, powering the ship. She rebooted the reactant, to no avail. This made the job easier. The majority of the fuel cells were powering the ship; the majority. An entire cell, as Adalric mentioned, was being dedicated to the cargo hold. Nothing there required an entire cell to operate, as the entire electrical system is generated through the distribution subsystem. “Adalric, do you have any idea what is in the cargo hold? Can you bring up the ship layout and tell me whether there is a description for 7B?” She'd personally drawn out the layout of the ship,; memorized it to the T: the cargo hold had exactly seven dedicated rooms and number seven was full of scrap metal, nothing worth noting. Had she missed something in her survey? I must've... She looked up over her shoulder to see if Sebastian had entered behind her, afterall. Maybe he had answers, but answers or not, she intended to bring him to speed. “Sebastian?”

Sebastian decides not to follow Islia. He was getting irritated, and was frankly disgusted by the idea of someone sabotaging the ship full of refugees. Unlike most, his anger is one that is a slow boil. He turns extremely quiet, his actions becoming sharp. He puts a finger to his ear, contacting the deck. "I'm going to this room '7B'. Islia. You're next in line if I run into complications. I trust you'll be able to care for these people better than I,". The young man paces with fury toward the cargo-hold, entering with a sigh. As people swarm him and begin murmuring questions, he simply stops moving near the center of the room.

He inhales slowly through his nose, straightening his loose clothing. His eyes trace around the room. "Ladies and gentlemen, I ask that you stay calm," He speaks in a smooth tone, his voice broadcasting across the ship. "You must realize, that simply by being here, by surviving, you are some of the most miraculous human beings. We are all the very few survivors of the devestation that took place on our home world. You've been stripped away from everything. We've lost our homes. Our businesses. Our livelihoods. Worse than that, we've lost family. Friends. Companions. But we represent those who cannot represent themselves. We stand here, for each of our families,". Sebastian slowly adjusts his glasses, "You must show the best in humanity. For all we know, we could be all that's left. So I ask you, I beg you, do not bring shame to those that have died in desperate hopes of being in the very situation we're in now. It may not be the prettiest, nor the most comfortable, but we are here. We're alive. We've survived worse than a small power outage,". He begins walking toward the hidden section of the ship, adding with a soft mumble, "We're almost out of this mess, just hold in a little longer,".

-----

His footsteps echo through the very cramped service tunnel. He'd never bothered to venture here. It'd always been a center of inactivity, as not much was consuming huge amounts of power down here. He knew small gadgets from years long past lay inside of it. He'd remembered seeing that damned room when he first acquired the ship. He had past it after he broke into the hull, though never paid much mind to it until now. "Seven B," He murmurs softly, passing a multitude of storage rooms. 7E. 7D. 7C. He looked at the chipped, painted letters on the wall that marked each new room. He stopped outside the room marked '7B : Containment'. Sebastian never wandered in, though he had assumed this was the hold for prisoners or bandits that the old crew may have stumbled upon when it was operating at full capacity. But perhaps, it was containing something else. A far darker evil.

He approaches the metal door that slams up against the frame, slowly tapping a touchpad that rested to the right of the doorway. The touchpad flickers to life, asking him a simple question. 'Open Containment chamber?'. Without truly considering the possibilities of what could be held inside, he taps 'Yes'. The door hisses open..

Adalric opens up a map of the ship's layout. "Room 7B was made to be on the third floor around here". He indicates a spot labeled containment. "However, the thing I found strange was that there was the sign, "Containment". At the time it meant nothing to me, it was just a place that was holding something I was not intended to mess with or see. I had more pressing matters, but now this room contains an issue". He points to another screen showing the power usage for the past week. "The power was rerouted at some point, and we started losing power and it was put in this room. Quite the surprise to me, but I think when it is mixed with my theory it makes sense". He expression is still blank and his voice monotone. "First, there is something in there that nobody should mess with. Second, the power has been rerouted to there for quite a while to accomidate for something living there. Lastly, whatever was in there wanted out, so it caused the power fluctuations. With the lights out it can sneak around with ease".

And we sent our captain there alone. “Adalric,” There was uncharacteristic authority in Islia's voice despite its clear distress, her blood pumping in fresh way of adrenaline. She looked from him to the sword he’d had next to him pointedly. “Go support our captain. I will stay on standby here and deal with the power. It would be best if you could take Alex with you, but don’t make any special stops to find him. Make Sebastian your top priority. Make sure you take a communicator with you and please,” she exhaled heavily, her voice softening. If anything were to happen to Sebastian after she'd let him go investigate alone...“Please, report back to us immediately.”

Islia pulled up the communications line linking directly over the ship, cleared her throat out of habit and took a breath before pressing transmit: “A brief update, crew: Our captain, Sebastian, is personally handling the power outage along with the qualified members of our crew. Power will be restored.” She paused momentarily, collecting herself to maintain the calm evenness in her voice, then continued, “Alex, Arthur and Caitlyn, please report to the flight deck to assist immediately. Thank you, everyone, for aiding in keeping order.” With that, she ended the transmission and the comm crackled out to silence once again. Again, she turned her attention to the main stream of power, trying to assess the best way to repair and waiting for the other two to report for instruction. @Kayzo @Floodwater31 @Ironrot

Left Untouched, forgotten and alone. Doomed to Rot

Cold, frigid air blasted from the open door and stung like miniature knives pricking Sebastian’s skin. Cold fog billowed out, airing out the room which had been held sealed for so long. Lights flickered on after a protesting metallic groan came from the walls illuminating the dark. The room was rather large, perhaps not the biggest in the Cargo bays but decent size and perfectly symmetrical right down to the exact length along the ceiling to form a cube. Wires, tubes, and power couplings ran all along the grey steel paneled floor in a chaotic mess, filling the room with a soft hum of power, the static charge of electricity in the air.

Chains hung down from the ceiling, in all manner of shapes and sizes and in such density that it was impossible to view the top of the room. The opening of the door had caused a disturbance in the air and the metal links clinked and changed against each other creating a haunting melody.

Control panels, medical equipment and expensive looking pieces of tech now defunct littered the walls and ground. A few, just a bare minimum mind you, were still in operational order with their holographic lights flickering weakly in the light.

Everything was covered in a thin layer of hoarfrost, Sebastions breath was easily visible in the air as he stood in the doorway, it blowing back into his face as the atmosphere amongst the ship tried to adjust to the changing pressures and temps.

But the feature that was impossible to miss, lay at the center room, the sight of which was simply… chilling.

A massive box of some sort, nearly 15 feet tall and half again as wide, intricately decorated and inscribed with hundreds of small little decals. Frost and ice covered most of them so it was impossible to tell just exactly WHAT they were. Made entirely out of a single piece of greyish-carbon like material that had no seams save for the obvious opening, it’s manner of securement was most alarming. In short… someone didn’t want this thing moving at all from its spot. Chains, each link as thick as a mans wrist wrapped around the Casket, for that’s what it reminded one of, until it might as well have been cocooned in them. Bolted down to every available surface, the chains threaded out to look like a spiderweb. That wasn’t the only manner of making sure this Casket didn’t open or move, three metal bolts slid across the opening, of which was sealed tight, locking it shut plus to top it all off a DNA scanner of serious security was smack dab right in the middle of the only opening in the chain cocoon. Just above that was a viewport of some sort, but just what was inside was again impossible to see. Years of frost had rendered the viewport useless, icicles hanging from it and just about everything else.

The air had an unnatural feeling about it, terrible things had happened here. Fear ran thick in it, pain lurked in its dark corners, horrors awaited above in the depths of clinking chain which continued their haunting melody.

Not too far to the side, about 10 feet away from the entrance of the Room 7B, was the massive breaker switch for the power to the entire room. ‘EMERGENCY SHUT OFF’ it read in giant red faded letters. Untouched, undisturbed for god only knew how long just like the rest of this room.

But now its peace was broken.

The hair on Sebastian's arms stand on end. The cold causes him to wince, pulling his palm over his eyes to shield them from the sudden blast of cold air. As the soft jingle of chains clattering together worms its way into the young man's ears, his heartbeat climbs at an exponential rate. The entire atmosphere of the room put him on edge. This fear was similar to one that a child gets when they fear a monster is in their closet. Luckily for them, their father would open it with a groggy smile and say, 'See buddy? Nothing in here. It was just a nightmare,'. But this wasn't a nightmare. Sebastian stood, looking at the massive, crate-like prison with an expression that is mixed with awe and horror. Something about it just seemed.. Wrong. It deepened his feeling of disgust, but for some reason, the young doctor couldn't help but feel a certain longing to go closer.

His careful footsteps echo in the large containment chamber, his shaky breath showing in the air. With every step he took toward the box, his blood pumped faster through his veins. His hands began to shake. Not from the cold, but from the overwhelming sensation of excitement and horror. He reached the chains that formed their steel web around the cage. He stood mere inches away from it now, his warm breath melting away the frost that once rested upon the metal. How could this be here? How could he not have noticed this? And most importantly, what was inside?

Sebastian stared at it for a short duration of time, before he looked over to the breaker switch. 'Emergency Shut-Off'. "Is this consuming power?" He hisses to himself. Perhaps if he turned the power to this room off, the generator would be able to restore itself and create light in the never ending dark of space again. In the pitch black of the room, Sebastian stumbles over various technologies as he makes his way toward the switch. Upon reaching it, he places his hand on the lever. He tapped the bud in his ear a few times. Alas, communications with the flight deck were seemingly impossible from such a fortified room. For a moment he hesitated. It didn't seem as if the chains relied on power. Perhaps, if he turned off the power to this room nothing would happen. However, whatever is inside could also escape.

This was Sebastian's decision. It was his alone, and it carried a weight that could quite possibly eradicate the seemingly last of the human species. Despite this, he tugged down on the lever. It was done, and the power to the room was cut. The very few flickering holograms that had been inside died off, leaving the young man in the dark. The doorway, which was powered by this room, had been cut off as well. Now, the only way to enter was through manually sliding the door upward.

Sebastian was hopelessly trapped with whatever was inside, and hopelessly alone.

Adalric waves his hand as he walks out. "Have fun here. Sebastian will be back soon". He begins jogging up to the third floor, and steps into the hallway to see the containment room's door shut. "He pulled an emergency switch of some sort didn't he. God sometimes he is the biggest idiot I have ever seen". The door could only be manually moved. "Might be dangerous. Don't have much choice". He grunts as he begins to lift the door. "Makes me glad I got that whole excercise daily habit practically pounded into me". He finally managed to get it high enough that he go through it if need be, and with light shining in the room he can see now. Sebastian next to a breaker switch, waiting for something to happen, and Adalric could tell that it wasn't long before something did. "Get back to flight deck, and warn everyone, I'll handle it here. Set up a defence of a sort on the bottom floor. You need to move quickly".

Sebastian looks over to the door that's being forced open. It's surprising a man of Adalric's build is able to lift such an incredibly heavy weight. That didn't matter, at the moment. The young man looks at his counterpart with a glare, "Adalric, get out of here. We both know four things. One, there's something in that thing," He raises his hand to gesture at the caged box. "Second, You're a better fighter than I am. You're also one of the only system technicians aboard. You are far, far more crucial than a Doctor. Caitlyn can cover for me after whatever comes out of that thing gets out,". Sebastian sighs, then seating himself in front of the box. "Third, you're a better fighter. You think far more than I do. I'm not sure whether this is a curse or a blessing, but your actions don't seem too affected by emotion. They need you to keep them alive. They need you for strategy. Your work with a blade is far better than my work with a needle,". The young man pauses to remove his glasses, "Lastly, we know that I'm in charge. And I'm ordering you to return to the lower decks to help defend those we've promised to carry into a new life,". He looks up at Adalric with a very stern expression, "Get out of here, I'll stay and stall whatever is inside. Perhaps, it's nothing at all. In that case, I'm very happy,". He chuckles, "Now get out of here. Don't you dare let me catch you in the after-life with me," Sebastian grins.

False Alarm?

When the power shut off, emergency lights kicked in, basic recycling chemicle lights which after periods of time would die out and recharge a while later due to some rather helpful bacteria, a dim yellow light filled the cube, illuminating the dark. The tension in the air was so thick you could have cut it with a butter knife, hell and damnation would rain from the sky. With the cryo generators now lacking power the room started to heat up, wisps of melting ice and frost floated from most surfaces. The still fluctuation air currents caused them to eddy and curl into figures of semi-transparency in the sickly yellow light.

When Adalric entered the room showing muscular force that might have been applauded had the situation not been so volatile and unpredictable. The massive, grey-carbon monolith just sat there, looming over the two boys, lurking in the chemically induced dim lighting.

But…Nothing happened…. No change, or at least visible change in the room save for the lighting. Nothing came screaming out at them from above. No Monster exploded from the dark, nothing came bursting out of the casket howling for their blood. The Casket just sat there immobile and unloving as ever, it seemed to be laughing at them. Laughing at the two scared little boys who grew so worked up about a refrigeration room in a cargo bay. What did they expect? The THING? You call yourself the leader of these refugees? Look at you! You cant even walk into a simple room without nearly freaking out, scared of a little box inside a frozen cube.

... The chains chinked and laughed at their fear. Drank it in like it was a rather rare year of wine and grew
drunk on it.

"Sorry to break it to you, I'm less important. The people on this ship call you a captain, and they will panic if they found out that their captain is dead. I also promised them that you would get back... NOW MOVE". This is the first time anyone has ever heard his voice raise, and it is the first time anyone has heard him speak in a commanding voice.

Sebastian rises and stands face-to-face with Adalric. The young man towers just a bit over his friend, though not enough to be a significant source of intimidation. For a moment, Sebastian appears to be near the point of simply getting into a fight with the other man, though his figure relaxes after the power is cut and nothing occurs. The silence that is locked between the two is accompanied by none other than the damned chains, mocking both of them for being so dramatic.

The Doctor's lips, that were once cemented into a rigid frown, now begin to curl up into a smile. He begins laughing. "All that? For absolutely nothing?" Sebastian erupts into a fit of giggles, placing his hands on his knees. "We're fucking idiots. It's probably just a long-dead zoo animal. Maybe a giraffe or something,". He looks up at Adalric, "Sorry for being rude, friend. You and I go back, you know I wouldn't actually start a fight with you,". He rises and pats Adalric's shoulder. "We used to make up these sort of stories back in High-school. We should have seen this coming,".

With this, Sebastian turns back to the monolith. "Though I can't help but wonder what's so secure in there. You?" He turns his body around to stand by Adalric's side.

Adalric looks at the monolith. "Most likely a being of mass destruction. For now, you should go back down to the flight deck. Lock most of the ways up here, but leave one open. I'm going to make sure nothing can happen here, but I want you to promise me one thing". He turns and looks Sebastian in the eyes. "If I give the order to close all pathways to get up here do not hesitate. I will try to get back quickly, but I want to be prepared for the worst. Don't send anyone up here, and be wary of me if I go down. We don't know the abilities of what is in there".

Sebastian sighs and allows his head to fall into a slow nod. "Alright. I'm going to check in with Islia. Don't forget that there's people relying on you to make it back in one piece,". The young man sighs and turns his back to his old friend, slowly beginning to work his way out of the room and back toward the flight deck. As he passes through the cargo-hold, people look at him with hope. He smiles down at them, though he shakes his head as he passes. "Just a bit longer, forgive me,".

Sebastian's hazel eyes trace up to Islia's blue hair as he enters the flight deck. "Hey," He murmurs softly and steps over to her side, folding his hands behind his back as he stares out at the large red planet they currently pass. "Adalric is securing the room, he'll be up soon,". His fingers begin tracing over the monitors that float in the air. It's evident he's locking some of the service hallways that connect to 7B. He leaves one open, unfortunately the one furthest from 7B. This was to prevent the beast from escaping quickly without Adalric noticing.

(Sorry about not posting once again, I'm just a little busy.)

Caitlyn was nearly running through the corridors of the ship trying to get to the flight deck as quickly as she could. With the power outage going on, and the passengers becoming scared, she knew that it had to be important. Fortunately for her, the fligh-deck wasn't very far away and she was able to make it inside fairly quickly. She burst into the room and halted abruptly, panting. "What's going on?" She asked in a worried tone, looking around the room.
