[Interest Check] The Sand, The Dust, and The Sky (RIFTS)

Ah well. How about a Anti-Monster from Rifts South America? I traveled West to hunt the various monsters and demons there.

My idea is basically a TW cyborg. It can cast a handful of spells, but the biggest bonus is that it regenerates damage over time, so I don't have to worry about constant repairs. 8)

Mei: I'd rather a Zapper than a Tengu. No, you're not allowed to ask why. :P

Sherwood: I hate to keep sounding like the Fun Police, but no. Try again~

Oh, Maus, what of deebees? What's the limitations on settings they could be pulled from?

Most of the DBs of North America book is gold, ditto with Atlantis. I WILL require vetting and approval tho.

Use your noggin people, RIFTS is made of cheese, but let's at least try to keep this sane, eh?

Thing about RIFTS is that the more I look, the more things I want to play. >_<

If you're still interested in RIFTS Japan, the Monk classes are kickin' rad. Travel the West, preach the dharma.

I'm looking at pretty much every book I have on me. Coyles and Kankoran look appealing as well.

Not that I want to begin a fight with the bossman, but can you tell me why not when regular full conversion borgs are ok? I really want in on this game and I'm trying to get a feel for what we can do,.

Ulterior motive -- would be nice to have another JAPANESE HURP DURP speaking PC!

I suppose I should put down some story or somesuch, huh?

The time: Eight months before the Tolkeen Conflict.

The place: The badlands between what was once Nevada and Colorado.

This far West, the power plays between the CS and its enemies seem distant and irrelevant, like a passing storm on the Eastern horizon. No, the day to day of simply getting by in harsh expanse of the New West is trouble enough for most.

Iron Valley is a rich little burg in the middle of nowhere, surrounded on all sides by bluffs and plateaus wrought from the ground by the upheaval of the Great Cataclysm, hip-deep in the bones of the Old World. Scavengers and Operators, Techs and Scholars, Mercenaries and Gunfighters...everyone is here for the easy money to be made on the rich salvage and plentiful gun-hand work.

Every day, scavenger teams venture out into the twisting dust-storms and harsh sun to comb the desert for weapons, gear, tech...any little shiny bauble that may just make them rich, or give them a clue to lead them to the find of a lifetime. "Treasure Hunter" is the most common occupation out here, and everyone wants the big score. Making things worse is the "Chrome Fever"; wild tales about a Pre-Rifts armory filled to bursting with weapons and armor of days long gone, a legion of Glitterboys waiting patiently at the heart of a ruined, empty city once called "Las Vegas".

Greed drives many, but curiosity propels more than a few to this place, drawn by tales of a broken paradise in the shifting sands, chasing elusive fragments of the past.

Whatever the reason, Iron Valley is the place to be these days, for as long as the desert is willing to give up its treasures. But once the winds shift, Iron Valley will dry up and blow away like so many boomtowns before it. Question is, will you blow away with it, or will you leave this place with more than you came with?

Sherwood: Mostly because I've never had a proper sit-down with the South America books, and, as such, have NO idea how to use/GM them properly. Were this not my Freshman effort in GMing like this, I'd be more willing to play ball.

Egads! Madness, if you are an "american" speaker, you do not speak the queen's english. Thus... you are not an english speaker. ^_^

You know, I knew I would get the languages garbled sooner or later. Better now than in the game!

I was trying to communicate that it would be nice to have another Japanese-speaking PC in an American-speaking world.

I plead the 11:30 at night defense.

The Anti-Monster is basically a magical construct full conversion Borg, designed to hunt down enemies of humanity such as demons and vampires, and destroy them. They are strong enough to cause hit point damage to a vampire, and are immune to the effects of the transformation bite, but not the killing bite. They have similar gifts as a psi stalker in being able to sense supernateral evil at a short distance, but they don't feed o n them. The AM is able to use magic items that are not directly powered by the operatior, since their own PPE and ISP reservers are drained to just a die4 on each.

Their big bonuses come from their self regenerating skin, 400 + 1d6x10 MDC that regens 1d6 per melee round. They ahve four spells they can cast of basic level equivilant of a fifth level mage up to four times a day, but can never add to their total list. They can use rune weapons, and even take double damage from rune weapons. The AM cannot pilot mecha unless it is built big enough for a seven foot borg to fit inside, but they never tire out and don't need to eat. They come with borg strength armor of up to 420 mdc, but usually go for the medium armors in the 200 range. That, a rail gun, a rune weapon, and a few skills, is basically what these guys are all about. If you have the South America book, the Anti-Monster is the cover art, tearing up a giant bug.

I hope you reconsider the decision not to allow them in. Otherwise, I have to hunt up a new character to run; possibly a regualr Borg or something like that. Just make sure spare parts are available to fix my broken ass.

Sherwood: I'm willing to go along with this, with the proviso that I've never worked with one before. Just...try and keep the shenanigans down, yes?

I can be quite reasonable. . . . At times. Seriously thank you for giving me the chance. The biggest stumbling block I have is a desire for a rune weapon. So long as it is not the personal blade of some major God, can I start with one? A single big blade for a primary weapon?

Is anyone taking a technological character? With the story outline, I'm starting to lean towards a PsiTech (souped up Operator), T-W, or Phaeton Juicer. If there are Borgs (non-magical :P ) or other people with PowerArmor/Robots I'll prolly go for the PsiTech.

Do we have access to the dedicated martial art techniques from Ninjas and Superspies? I'd like to get the swordfighting art - Zanji Shinjinkin-Ryu.
