Well since we're all 'starting characters' what would an Alchie do in the meantime? He wont start as fully integrated with a ship. :P

I'm keen on running a Voidship pilot myself, probably with on of those transformable models based on the Scarlet Empress--it did say the type was popular among Celestial pilots.

Haven't decided exactly what kind yet though, I've considered going with a Chosen of Battles with a particularly direct tint to them though...

Yeah, there is a full fleet. In fact the Gunstar seems to have several fleets. That's what the Realm Defense Grid is in this, a huge fleet. Also they have at least one expeditionary fleet which Leviathan is Admiral of.

Kinda tempting to be a Solar Admiral, or fleet officer. Cause I like the grand strategy aspect of battles that Exalted can actually let happen.

Said mildly crazy Solar Dawn I spoke of earlier will be a Voidpilot with a Scarlet Empress-style transformable Voidship (albeit with some slight stylistic modifications).

Hm...any chance of encountering big gribbly space-monsters for Lunars to kill and consume, so we can keep up with the void-pilots? ;)

There should be Raksha (there are nebulae of Wyld all over the place) and Demons, but I think you need special knacks to eat those. Probably nothing that you can take the form of as a starting Lunar, AFAIK, but WlfSamurai may know otherwise.

Well, it could be a goal to acquire those shapes. It mentions Kimberry produces massive leviathans and other space capable nasties that serve as part of the demonic fleet.

There can be other "monsters" in space. All the above discussed will be out there. We should decide as a group the direction/type of game though. If we're doing voidfighter gunship pilots (which I'm all for, Robotech/Macross/Gundam/Full Metal Panic yumminess), I think it's important everyone has a character that is relevant during that type of game. Now, that could be warstrider pilots, space-suit combat, space-marine boarding missions... As long as it fits into space combat and fleet missions, it'll work.

If that's the type of game we want.

Two clarifications.

  1. There are several armadas and fleets that are part of the Defense Line or housed inside the Gunstar.
  2. You guys asked about the house rules and I think I miss-answered. When taking "hardy" charms, you get the choice between a single ox-body OR and excellency. Just wanted to be clear.

Sounds reasonable :)

So I'll get cracking on my Chosen of Battles when I get home tonight, do we all get our Artifact 5 for our mechs for free? Or do we all pay for it?

Still, this is pretty much the game that Warstriders were Built for, especially with the rules that the Scarlet Empress uses. When we also consider it has a Vehicle-scale health track, we don't need to worry so much about the instagibbing problem that Warstrider Combat used to incorporate either.

It's also be nice if we could figure out a "Exalt Type Specific" trick to put in, just like how DBs have the "My voidfighter doesn't catch fire when I do, and I get 30 motes to use it's built in weapons". unique, that others wouldn't get to benefit from.

Please pay for the warstriders/voidships/voidfighters. Everyone take an extra 20XP to offset this a bit.

Well, like I said before I'm more into the grand scale of a battle. Strategic movements, warships engaging. No so much a voidfighter pilot. So I'm not really sure.

I'm okay with fleet characters as well. That'll fit fine. That's why I added the concrete "there're fleets" bit. You could command the voidship housing the voidfighters and warstriders.

Ah, I like that idea. How would we handle voidships? Use Heaven's Reach or convert stats from elsewhere like the Wonders of the Lost Age?

I'd handle the stats and battles with them. You guys could give the orders and use charms to lead/rally. I'd use pieces of the ship battle rules if you'd rather roll it yourself, which is fine.

So I don't have to worry about procuring my ship with BP? Sorry, just trying to sort this all out as I build my fleet guy since that does give the others somewhere to operate from as a group.

In fact, let's do this. No one needs to buy their ships or warstriders unless they want something custom. Otherwise, you all are assigned the Fleet's equipment.

Sorry to flip-flop. But as I thought more about it... And yes, keep the extra 20 XP for the hell of it.

Oh? So I could get a custom voidship? Just kidding. I can utilize whatever we find since Class I suppose helps supplement and deal with a lot of that. Considering pushing up to Class 5 or would that not really work?

And just to clarify, is that 30 XP in total? I think you mentioned 10 prior but I may be thinking of another game.

Uh, probably Backing rather than Class. Class is more part of the standard fluff and replaces Resources. Backing will work great.

Yes, 30 XP total. 10 for backstory. 20 because I said so. :D

Well, Class supplants Followers, Influence and Resources. Just trying to figure how it all factors in. I can happily take backing though to show military position or such.

No, you're right. After rereading it (not very familiar with the Alchemical book), Class makes sense. Go ahead and take that. Class 3 is enough to run a single Voidship in the fleet. It's open to everyone.

Sounds reasonable enough--so everyone gets their basic gear for free (Voidfighter/Warstrider thing, or ship in the case of our illustrious Captain), and everything else is paid for?

Sounds like a plan, I should start with a preliminary sheet soon, as well as some backstory--do we have a thread or a forum opening up for this by any chance?
