"You want OUT of the castle? Do you know how badly Id like to be IN that place?"

Jamir gave him an even dirtier look. He couldn't hold it, however, and his face softened, against his will.


"May you never have to learn that what you want really doesn't matter."

Lucifer: This conversation is over. Go away.

Jamir shook his head in disgust, and, turning away, left. He had to return to the vineyards within half an hour and be prepared to work, or he would be dismissed from the job.


He felt as if even this work would not last forever, or at least it wouldn't last without evil repercussions, if a person who was petulant and given to self indulgence came to power in Uniosen and decided to trade in liquor, perhaps, or consume it himself, possibly, to forget his feelings of constant discontent.

A shadow began to fall over the water surface.

Lucifer: *notices the shadow* That's new.

The shadow grew with every passing moment.


Eventually, it became a reflection, with color. What had appeared to be clouds revealed themselves to be the sails of a vessel.

Lucifer: *Gets up and pulls out his weapon* I should keep my guard up. Just in case.

Several moments passed, and then the ripples on the water began to increase.


Eventually, a large yellow boat, shaped somewhat like a massive wooden plaintain, appeared.

Lucifer: *Kept his weapon out* Who out there!?

A pair of eyes peered out over the edge of the boat.


The head vanished, then, and the boat spun around and began to retreat.

The man who stood at the head of the boat unsheathed his sword, as well. He hacked at Lucifer.


"Stop, you fool!" another voice shouted. "Can't you see he's the prince? You'll get us all executed!"

The man who had swung at him took advantage of his distraction and struck him in the head with his sheath.

The sheath cracked his head again. Another man came up from behind and locked his arms about his waist, taking him to the floor of the boat.

The owner of the voice, seeing the advantage they now had, joined his men in wrestling Lucifer. One got a rope and began to wind it around him.

Having tied him, the leader of the men stood and touched his throat with his swordpoint.


"No, I don't hate royalty - at least, not when that royalty is not Unioseine."


The swordpoint didn't budge.


"Tell us what the secret is, or we cant promise you your safety."
