Here is our OCC board. I understand that it will be some time before everyone can have a sheet ready, and recruitment is still open for more to arrive. Take your time and talk amongst yourselves for what you want to do with your Circle.
 
I'm hoping to either play a crafting character (Orichalcum or Starmetal) or social character (Moonsilver or Starmetal). Preferred method of combat being either Essence Pulse Cannon or Gyroscopic Chakram.


A few questions for Sherwood. Not pressing but would like to know for char-gen.


1) If we have a good backstory reason for being in Kamak currently, could our alchemical come from another of the eight nations?


2) Can sub-modules be purchased at character creation, and if so, at what ratio of BP to XP?
 
There are a few nations that are unfriendly to Kamak right now, but if you can come up with a story why you would be there from one of the friendlier nations, that will be fine.


Sub modules can be bought with BP at a 2 for 1 cost.

Is that 2 XP worth of Sub-module per 1 BP or 1 sub-module no matter the XP cost per 2 BP?
 
If the module costs more than one xp, pay for every point at a 2-for-1 cost, using two BP to purchase 1 xp worth of module.

Ouch... that's steep. It's basically saying that 2 XP worth of submodule is worth the same as an a unfavored attribute dot.

I get that... But I would have to either blow all 18 to get the sub-module for Transcendent Multimodal Artifact Matrix for the 3 dot Essence Pulse Cannon I'd like... or not start with what I was thinking might be my primary weapon until I could afford to drop 9 xp on it.

Hmmmm. Well, I suppose I could make it 1 BP per Xp

While I would be willing to spend that, I can't help feel that there is a noticeable bit of imbalance between spending 1 BP to get 1 XP worth of sub-module versus spending 1 BP and getting 6 XP worth of charm on retainer in the vats.
 
You have a point. We will go ahead and make it 1 for 2 in cost. How is that?
 
1 bp is generally worth at least 3 xp. Maximally, it's worth 18 xp when used to buy the 10th dot of Willpower. Things are a little bit different for Alchemicals since they don't have favored abilities which give excellent xp/bp value, but since you can buy an unlimited number of Charms at the rate of 1 Charm per bp (without slots, though), I feel the fair rate would be the same as for (possibly favored) Charms. I don't have book with me atm, so I can't check that.

Charms cost a flat 6 XP, the difference in favored/unfavored is that General Charm slots [can hold any charm] cost 12 XP [or 6 BP] and Dedicated Charm Slots [which can only hold charms tied to Caste/Favored Attributes] cost 10 xp [or 5 BP].


A one BP to three XP exchange is what I would think would be fair. If you think that people might over invest at that, a cap such as people not being able to spend more than six BP on sub-modules would probably work well.
 
I think @vinom has the answer with the 3 for 1 cost but a cap of spending a total of six bp on sub modules.
 
I don't suppose there's any equivalent to the Hardy keyword or other Ox-Body/Stamina fixes in this game? I've been in some games with free Ox-Body per stamina dot, but with Alchemicals that would just fill a huge number of Charm slots unless free Ox-Bodies no longer took up slots. I may be slightly biased in this request, as I have Stamina 7.
 
I have seen the list of Hardy Charms, and they do include the Alchemicals. Honestly, I had forgotten about that. I'll leave it up to a vote; do you want to include the Hardy keyword and get some free Ox Bodies, taking into account that the bad guys will have them, too?

Um... I checked the errata and Ink Monkey's collection, and failed to find the Hardy keyword, what is it?
 
Charms on the Hardy list give character a free Ox Body, up to a maximum of your Essence. For Alchemicals, they waive the need for a slot and the essence installation cost.

I typed into Google "exalted hardy charms" and got the list I put up earlier.
 
I'm planning to buy a lot of those Charms, and going for the whole unkillable nightmare thing, so I'm definitely in favour.
