Rolling

Derp. I missed the last two dice. Thanks!
Needle would be aware that there is a highly secret program in the works called Project Sunburst. It combines the best technical knowhow from both Kamak and Yugash, and a sizable part of the resources of both nations as they are working on it. The exact nature of this program is unknown to you, but you do know that it involves some sort of series of Charms that are being developed in Ein's Core and in the Core of one of the Yugashi cities.

Technically, you are not even supposed to be aware of Project Sunburst's existence, but with your investigative skills and your multiple contacts in the city, enough talk has been going around that you have heard whispers of it.

It would seem that the dice bot gods are pleased with you today. You guys are rolling quite well.

Oops. Having just read the lore, I now realize Ray was:
  1. Definitely not smiling at anyone, because that would be rude, and no one could see her smile through the scarf she was totally wearing all along. Though I like the idea of her wearing one of those scandalous mesh scarves the kids are adopting. Smiling at people through it would probably be a step too far, though.
  2. Wearing gloves. I thought she might be bare handed because gloves could interfere with shooting, but a mechanical trigger is completely unnecessary and that would be a faux pas, so definitely at least thin gloves.
  3. The kid reaching out to touch her could maybe be explained by her being too young to have internalized the rules about distance. Ray was being weird when she didn't recoil and instead nearly made contact. The crowd must look amusing by our standards, all maintaining their proper social distancing.
  4. Ray's coat should probably be black and gold instead of white and gold. White is probably too avant garde.

What is the stats of an Essence Pulse Grenade? I'm guessing that we would all be familiar with them, but I don't see a description of them in the Alchemical book.

So Ray is capable of putting most of the crowd on the floor nonlethally (but they'll definitely feel it tomorrow. And probably next week.) in a hurry, but she won't do it unless one of you asks her to. It's the big loud panic button option, and the optics aren't great, but it's there if you want it. She can also deploy her wings and go all big social hammer on them, but if one of you indicates you're going to subtly nip this in the bud without embarrassing us in front of the foreigners she won't do that, either. Going big to keep our own people in line doesn't look great.

I'm using the write up from the Scrolls of Fallen Races book. Here is the description:

The exact nature and type of this
blast depends upon the type of jade used in the grenade’s
construction. Red jade produces 12L of fire damage that
ignites flammable objects. Blue jade produces a blast of
electricity (20B, ignoring the soak of any non-magical
metallic armor). White orbs emit concussive force (20B,
all targets in blast range must resist knockdown at difficulty
3—see Exalted, p. 153, for details). Black jade inflicts cold
damage (20B, and the intense cold temporarily reduces the
Dexterity of all victims in range by two dots, unless their
players succeed at a reflexive [Stamina + Resistance] roll,
difficulty 3—victims reduced to zero Dexterity are frozen in
place and cannot move; lost Dexterity returns at the rate
of one dot per hour). Green jade grenades emit poison gas
that inflicts no damage, but every living being in range must
test for exposure to a toxin comparable to arrow frog venom
(see Exalted, p. 131). Unlike the other grenades, this poison
does not become weaker with distance from the grenade.
Everyone within 10 yards is affected equally

I knew I had seen that weapon before. Thank you for reposting it.

Time to sound the alarm.

5m Thousandfold Courtesan Calculations to make max penalty to MDV from her 9 Appearance (forgot the+1 Charm) -6.
Charisma 5 + Performance 5 + 10m 1st Charisma Excellency + Stunt 1 = 21
Where did you get the Performance of 5 from? Your sheet just shows it at a 1.

Please give me a roll of Dex and either Melee or Martial Arts to try and knock the grenades aside.
Ray doesn't actually want to deflect the grenades. She wants to catch them. She intends to put them in a bubble of her Essence Shield Projector to prevent collateral damage when they explode. Can she use Athletics, and would the 6 bonus dice for speed/manoeuvring in flight from her wings apply?
The grenade that is dropped at the foot of the one thrower goes off, sending a wave of flame from its point of impact that engulfs a large number of people there, including Flowering and Ray. What is your Lethal soak?
Ray has a Lethal Hardness of 15, or 21 if she spends a point of Willpower, but Flower is right there and Ray is very fast - could either or both of us try to intercept the falling grenade before it touches the ground and detonates? Ray would fly straight at it, hug it to her chest, and curl up around it if she thought she could prevent the crowd from being harmed, and she'll throw a Valour or Compassion channel into it if necessary. If Flower can catch it with her Wrackstaff (Edit: Missed opportunity to say, "can make the grenade listen to Reason.") she'll focus on the thrown grenades. Without outside orders, I'm not sure if Ray is sharp enough to prioritize the weapons being thrown at the Estasians over the one about to detonate in the crowd, though a war with Estasia would obviously be far more costly to the Populat than the death of a dozen bystanders here.

If the grenade is going off beside the attackers, wouldn't it take them out before they could throw?

Catching the grenade would be a Dex + Athletics roll with the +6 from the wings. Unless you botch your roll, you are probably going to succeed.

Diving down to envelop the one grenade that was dropped is possible, but it will be either the one grenade that was thrown or the one that is dropped.

Flowering can try to Flurry an attack to knock the two thrown grenades if you wish.

All the throwers acted at the same time, so no.

What do you think, Arynne Arynne ? I'd like to go for the heroic hat trick and neutralize all three grenades if possible. Do you want Flower to try to take two grenades and Ray takes one, or vice versa? Either Flower deflects two and Ray dives on one, or presumably Ray can flurry to dive for the falling one and on her way snatch another out of the air just as it leaves the hand of a saboteur, if they're all clustered relatively close together. She is between the saboteurs and the envoys, after all, so they're throwing directly at her.

I'm still here. Give me a few and I'll have an IC post up.

Your guards are trying to stop the grenade throwers. The ones that the Estasians brought are bodyguarding their delegates.

For some reason, I thought I saw two. I'll edit it. Thanks.

We need to make sure that there are no more grenades lobbed at the Estasians. We don't want a full on war with them right now. At least, I wouldn't think so.
