In the End (IC)

"Does anyone in this room not have a weapon?" A voice asked from the other side of the room. Kristen looked over to see who had asked.

"I think it's safe to say that in an apocalypse pretty much everyone will have a weapon of some kind," Kristen spoke up. Then, she spotted a girl with her hand up. She sighed, but then she remembered that there were probably a good number of people who weren't trained by numerous government organizations.

Kristen looked back over to the girl, she didn't look to be out of her teen years. She didn't need to be running around completely undefended. Clearing her throat Kristen addressed the girl.

"Do you have anything you could count as a weapon?" She asked her. "Pepper spray, iron knuckles, picture of Justin Bieber?"

@Mina

Adira smiled slightly at the woman's statement of Justin Bieber. She was funny. "I have a pocket knife." She said loud enough that the woman could hear her over the hushed voices. This was embarrassing to say the least. I should have just kept my hand down Adira thought as she felt the hint of a blush hitting her cheeks. Good thing it was dark in there, the soft light coming through the roof wasn't enough to reveal her embarrassment. "The pocket knife will be enough, I didn't mean to raise my hand." She said suddenly, the words bubbling out without control.

Ty shook his head. "Hey calm down. Here." He kicked over a small wooden plank, arm's length. "It's best to keep as much distance as you can. Pocket knives are more last resorts unless you are skilled in using them. I found that when we were getting herded in, and sorta hid it in my bag."

Kristen walked over to the girl as she mentioned her pocket knife, a decent weapon normally, but with the chance of getting infected she should have a weapon that she could be farther away with. "This is going to sound really psychopathic, but I have an extra machete," Kristen told her. "It's yours if you want it."

@Mina @Otakubeats

"Well, I'm glad I'm not psychotic," Kristen said sarcastically. "Let's not go over the number of weapons I have with me. So, anyway, do either of you know when the hell we can get out of here. I thought this was a good idea, but now, I'm worried that we're just sitting ducks in here."

Kristen looked around her at the number of people sitting around the room. There were so many people in this room, if people got riled up, it could end badly. If those people somehow got infected it would be even worse.

Julie

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Julie rubbed at the crease in her arm, her fingers skimming at the large bump the needle had left. She had never had a blood draw like that before, or seen one like it. Despite her small protests, she had been ushered out of the room before she could see what scanning looked like, and once she was out of the room, a man with a horrifying looking gun barked at her, "You're clean." Julie rubbed her tongue over the wound in her mouth again and instead scrounged through her bag for her phone. She sent a quick text to her father, disappointed that he hadn't texted her first. After stuffing her phone back into her bag, she headed into the larger area of the mall.

The lights had been shut out already. A nurse had told her that the power would be directed to the medical area, but by glancing at the lantern distribution booth, it looked like they were all gone. With a sigh, Julie glanced around for any source of light. She was relieved when she saw a tiny pinprick of light near the center of the mall. She navigated her way through the crowds and into a circle of younger people who seemed to be around her age. All carrying weapons. She resisted the urge to shiver as she remembered her brother's clawed fingers reaching for her, her father's gun pointed-

"Hi, I saw light." She suddenly blurted in an attempt to distract herself. "I-is it okay if I stay here with you. I mean, I could, um, if anyone got hurt trying to get through the crowd. I have medical supplies." Her eyes caught bruises on one man's face, and scratches on another girl. "I'm Julie."

Adira blinked in confusion as he said to calm down. Did she look like she was freaking out? Instead of asking, she reached forward and grabbed the plank, nodding her head toward him. "Thank you." She said before standing up with her back against the wall and looking at the girl that approached them. "I would take that as well if you would be willing to share." She said with a smile.

She didn't view the girl as psychotic, just prepared. "I don't think this was a good idea at all. In all reality, I can hear them getting closer and there are screams out there. Its faint but if you listen, you will hear them too." Adira said with a shrug. "Things are going to get bad in here, and all I am trying to do, is map out an escape route, which is hard considering it is rather dark in here." She said as quietly as she could without freaking too many people out.

As the group prepared for worst, the banging on the doors intensified. Then, a huge bang resounded. It sounded like something enormous had joined in on the undead's attempts to get inside, and soon soldiers began to yell. People began screaming as dents appeared in the metal barriers. Finally, an alarm sounded, and the panicked voice of a woman rang out over the intercom. "Everyone needs to run, get out! Do whatever you have to, we can't keep them back. T-There's kind of mutated zombie -- it's huge -- that's breaking through." She paused before continuing, panting into the mic. "Shit, this is like every zombie movie I've ever seen. Staff are going around unlocking the doors, but if they don't get to you in time use the vents." The intercom cut out, and the masses outside began to scream. Hundreds of running feet could be heard, then one final bang and the sound of clattering metal. They were in.

Andromeda
"I saw that Taylor Swift is holed up in a bunker, thank goodness. I don't know what I'd do without her." Andromeda smiled fondly as she thought of the popstar, glad to have every one of the girl's songs on her phone. "I'm Andromeda, by the way, everyone. Just call me Andy though." As things began to intensify outside, she put away her phone and pulled out her gun. She didn't have a holster, so she just shoved the silver firearm into her jeans before throwing her bag over her shoulder. If shit hit the fan, as Tyler'd said, she wanted to be ready.

Soon after the one girl had given the younger one a machete, an alarm began to sound, and a woman shared what was happening with the survivors. Then, once everyone had heard the barriers break, Andromeda whispered, "Holy shit. All of those people.." It was like an all-you-can-eat buffet for the zombies. "We need to get out of here, ASAP." She said, standing up and rattling the doorknob. Sadly, they were still locked in. "Dammit!" She growled. "I hate vents..."

"Move!" Ty pushed past, and slammed his bat on the knob. after a few hits, it fell off leaving an open hole. He pulled open the door. "Let's get the hell out of here!" The teen looked at the others, not willing to leave anyone behind unless they did it willingly.

Adira felt her stomach lift to her throat as the doors burst open. She was in the back, and just so happened to be close to a vent. She wasn't even going to try the doors, considering that would be where the masses swarmed first. Locked doors, the dumbest thing they could have done here. If the survivors had been behind multiple closed doors, maybe, but an escape route should have been the first thing these people should have come up with. She swung around and gripped the metal grate, yanking back as hard as she could to remove it. Screams filled the air and she felt someone bump into her hard, shoving her forward into the wall. "Damn it!" That was when she heard the boy from earlier yell, he had a door open, and everyone was making their way through. Adira was torn, but in all reality, she didn't know how these vents would even end up winding around the building.

As fast as she could, she ran toward the open door, hoping, that she wouldn't end up screwed for doing this. Flocks of people flew past the open doorway, others were screaming in pain as they were torn to shreds. As she ran, she felt a sharp pain in her left shoulder causing her to release a scream and stumble forward a bit. One of the other survivors? She didn't know, nor did she care to check, but she could tell she was bleeding, and a man ran past her with a small dagger in hand. She was pretty sure the male had stabbed her in a panic, but it was in a place that wouldn't kill her, just make movement of her left arm a little bit more challenging. She pushed herself forward, her shoulder throbbing uncontrollably as she did so. "If I get out of this, I am getting away from any groups of people." She said to herself, looking back to make sure the two that had helped her, were making their way to safety as well.

Tyler followed her close and growled, having to resist screwing over the guy who had stabbed her.Sure it was accidental, but fucking reckless.

"I saw a fire escape the other way! If we follow the crowd, we'll die for sure." He waited to see if the others would respond or argue, pulling back his bow, shooting any zombies in range, killing them with an arrow to the brain.

Julie

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Julie's voice petered off as the loudspeakers warned them of the danger outside. Before the woman could even finish, loud noises erupted from the front doors and screams ensued. She panicked. She clawed at the others around her, pushing them towards the open door that the kid with the bat had opened, screaming at them to move, trying desperately to push them into action. Her stomach dropped when a moan came from around their area. Flashes of her brother's eyes. His hands reaching for her neck and face.

Julie did what she knew best- she ran.

She pushed past the crowds, ignoring rough fists pounding against her sides. Everyone wanted out, but she was frightened. She could feel her heart about to rip out of her chest. She saw one of the girls from earlier break through the crowd.
Is that blood? She didn't know if it would attract the zombies. Julie had bandages to keep the blood from flowing. Suddenly, the kid with the bat starting shouting about a fire escape. Julie screeched to a stop, panting, her heart still racing. "We... We need to get out fast. And get the blood stopped. It could attract them." Julie reached for the girl's arm hesitantly. "Even just wrap something around it for now until we're safe. Where are the others?"

Kristen followed the girl and the boy she had been talking to before. She pulled out her spare machete and passed it to the girl. Before, unsheathing her katana. Keeping it close to her side so that she didn't impale anyone accidentally.

"Lead the way," Kristen told the boy. Then seeing a zombie nearby took a calculated slash and severed it at the head. "I don't much fancy dying."

Tyler ripped off a piece of his jacket sleeve, and tied it tightly around her wound. "Alright! Keep up and stay close!" He began running, and

avoided the dying/turning people on the ground only stopping to kill them with a blow to the head if they got to close. Tyler stopped at the escape, and seeing the rusty clamp holding the window shut, simply swung his bat, smashing the galls sending it flying outward. The noise was nothing compared to the hell already happening inside. He kicked any stray glass left in the frame away, cutting his ankle on one. He didn't really care too much. This fire escape was located on the edge of haven. From here they could take the back entrance into the woods. The boy turned to call out to the others when another survivor jumped him. The man was much bigger than the teen, and pinned him down trying to wrestle the bow from his grip. This weapon was Ty's only long ranged one. Meanwhile this dude had two pistols, a knife and a helmet on. He protested loudly, thrashing from the man's pin."THE FUCK! You have weapons!" The man slammed his elbow into Ty's throat stomach winding him before sneering, "Kids like you will die easy enough anyway! Better for me to benefit!" The man grabbed his pistol, and loaded a shot. It was clear what his intentions were.

As the man grabbed the boy, Kristen immediately reeled back a few steps. She wasn't about to get caught in a hold. She had wanted to laugh when she saw the man's helmet, but then she saw the rest of his weapons. She shifted her katana into her left hand and reached to grab one of her daggers with the other. As the man slammed his elbow into the boy's throat and loaded a shot into his pistol, Kristen sprung to action. Sliding behind the man and positioning the dagger on his throat and her katana next to his leg.

"I can cut into four of your major arteries from my current position," Kristen whispered in his ear. "But you know, kids like us will die easily, so do you want to take your chances?"

Julie followed the boy to the escape, flinching whenever he killed someone- no, Julissa, they were zombies. She bit her lip gently and hurried after him. They arrived at the fire escape and the boy swung his bat again, cracking it against the clamps holding the window. He kicked it out and Julie noticed the wounds on his ankle. She filed it away for later. She would tend to the group when they were in a safe spot. As the boy turned, a man suddenly jumped on him. Julie reeled back immediately, her hand fluttering to her heart.

She reached in her bag, fumbling for the slingshot or the knife or-

"I can cut into four of your major arteries from my current position," the girl said, "But you know, kids like us will die easily, so do you want to take your chances?" She looked menacing. Julie stopped reaching in her bag. They were all humans. She opened her mouth and closed it again, feeling like a fish out of water. She was meant for peace, not war.

Julie said quietly, "Let's just go. We can take this guy's stuff. He's just slowing us down. C'mon guys." She tried to be firm. There didn't need to be more bloodshed than needed.

The man froze grumbling. "Fine." Before anyone could blink the gun fired and Ty howled in pain as the bullet hit his left shoulder. The man shoved her away, and began to flee. However he didn't get far before an arrow hit his thigh piercing it. "HAVE FUN SURVIVING LIKE THAT FUCKER!" Two more arrows hit his shoulders and he fell to the ground in agony. Tyler stood giving Kristen a grateful nod, and Julie a withering glare. He ignored the injury stepping out onto the fire escape. "We can head the back path into the woods. There's supposed to be a river that leads to the next town."

Samantha

Samantha was silent througout the whole ordeal. She followed closely though, not wanting to get left behind. By now, she had already pocket knife from her backpack and was carrying it by her side as she followed the group. Chaos was breaking loose inside the mall, and Sam had been lucky enough to reach the fire escape without any kind of injury; excluding the one she had recieved upon entrance. "Yeah we can do that." she agreed, a bit shaken by all the things happening at once. As childish as it sounds, she just wanted her mom, hell even Skye would help her feel better. She thought for a moment before speaking, "Guys, I live in a gated apartment complex two blocks over. We could use the forest to our advantage and make it that way. My mom alway kept me stocked with easy-to-make college food too, so maybe we can stock up on supplies?".

She was telling the truth, but the supplies weren't the exact purpose of the mission she was set on. It sounds lame, but at this point she just wanted someone or something she was fond of, and in her case Skye was the only one she could turn to.

Ty nodded as he went down the escape, wincing as the movement jarred his arm. He waited at the bottom for the others. "C'mon. We need to get there before dark." Pain and survival were his only thoughts at the moment. That and the fact that the quiet girl wanted to abandon him. Like his parents. Fucking asshole.

Julie

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Julie bit her lip again, harder, drawing blood, and she mentally chided herself. She quietly scolded herself again. By trying to find a peaceful way out, part of her team had been injured. And by the way he was stiffening his arm, he was in a lot of pain. She checked her supplies in her head carefully. There were no painkillers or anesthesia. Julissa, you irresponsible girl. Dad told you to pack everything. But maybe this other girl, at her house, she would have more supplies, and she could better help the team. It was her only shot of redeeming herself and she attempted to straighten her own shoulders. A bad attitude wouldn't help anyone.

She pushed herself into the escape after the boy and landed beside him before scooting away. She didn't want to be scolded even more. The look he had shot at her was enough- he blamed her. Julie lowered her eyes. "I'm sorry," she whispered, more to herself than anything. An apology wouldn't fix this, or his shoulder. Once they reached the apartment, she would take care of him and the others. She was determined to fix this.

"It's fine. I'm used to people trying to forget me. Let's just go." He walked towards the woods, on alert for any zombies. However it seems the bulk were in the mall. Ty stayed silent as they walked, biting back any sharp remarks he would shoot at Julie. He looked at her then forward before speaking. "The least you can do is tell me your name."

Kristen sheathed her katana and slid her knife into her booth, then she followed one of the girls down the escape. Once she got to the bottom she pulled out her katana again and allowed her eyes to sweep across the surrounding area. She saw nothing to be too worried about. There was a small group of what appeared to be pigeons clustered around something on the ground.

"It looks clear, but we need to move and soon," Kristen announced. "I don't want to be zombie bait. I think our best option is to stick in a tight group as we move our way through. You up for being the lead? Knowing where we're headed and all."

@Azazelin @Otakubeats @Lonelytaco

Jane looked back at the bloodbath that was happening in the mall, even those fighting back were being eaten alive. She followed the group down the fire escape shaking with fear as numerous gunshots could be heard going off and the screams of the dieing. "AH!" Jane let out a yelp of pain as her exposed lef caught on a rusty piece of the fire escape, she suddenly felt wet blood trickle down her leg, looking down she realized the gash was deep "Wait! I- im hurt!" She pleaded to the group stretching out her hand towards them.

Adira ran behind the male that had wrapped her arm, stopping short as they made their way down. By the time the larger man had grabbed the other, Adira froze. She held the machete in her hand, but she saw what he was armed with and while she was fast, she would probably stop before striking him and end up getting everyone killed. Thankfully, the girl that had given Adira the machete, moved to the large man and whispered something to him. Adira probably would have heard it if her brain wasn't screaming at her to run further, but she didn't hear anything. The screams even were silent. People moved, screaming at each other, the gunshot blaring through the air, causing Adira to jump though she didn't really hear it, like her body knew what reaction to have but her brain didn't.

Adira didn't realize she was running again, like everything was so surreal, nothing was reality right now. Like a bad dream with the volume muted. The boy was leading them before he made sure everyone made it out, and suddenly she felt it. Her heart was hurting, pounding so hard it felt like she might explode. Adira was reaching her limit, fatigue, lack of food, pain, all adding up. "No." She said softly before she slid behind a tree and began running. She was sure no one had seen her, and the last thing she wanted right now, was to make a friend and watch them die. So she ran as hard and fast as she could, to get away from the group that had gathered to escape.
