In Case Of Apocalypse (Adorasaurus, DeathlyLivings) [Inactive]

There was a rustle from inside and a clatter of metal.


Yui looked at Darren and motioned to the gun.


"Is that thing loaded?" she whispered.
 
"Just in case" she whispered.


She took a step back, raised her boot and slammed it into the door.


"Kyne, open up!" Yui demanded, slamming her foot into the door once more.


There was a scrabble from inside as the door lever turned.


The heavy door creaked open and a slim man walked out.


"Momo!" he cried, embracing her.


Yui pushed him off.


"What's the big deal, Kyne?!" she replied, kicking him.


He came in for another hug.


Before he could reach her, she grabbed him by the collar and slammed him against the wall.


"Touch me one more time, I dare you" she hissed, her eyes boring into his.
 
Kyne put his hands on her wrists.


"Okay, okay!" he replied shakily. "Calm down, Momo!"


Yui released him and pushed him away from her.


She sighed, pushing her hair from her face.


"Are you alright, Kyne?" she asked.


He stood straight, nodding.


"I was."


He huffed and ushered the pair in.


"Come on in, we could use some chat time."
 
Kyne cleared his throat as the two walked in.


He shut the door behind them, closing it properly.


Kyne pointed at some chairs opposite a bed.


"You two can sit there."


On the bed was a teenage girl.


"Probably about 15" Yui thought to herself.


The girl looked up at them as they came in.


Yui sat opposite her and smiled.


"Hi there" she said softly, holding out her hand. "My name's Mabayui Momo."


The girl stared at her hand, occasionally glancing at Kyne.
 
Kyne sat beside her and cleared his throat once more. He looked properly at Darren.


"Who are you?" he asked rudely, looking to Yui and back to Darren. "Did Kitty Momo drag in a rat?" he laughed.


The girl beside him sniggered, covering her mouth with a pale hand. Yui noticed her manicured finger nails and pastel pink nail varnish. She thought back to Zoey.
 
Darren laughed off the insult. "From up here I could say the same about you. My name is Darren, and I can tell you I'm anything but a rat. Now are you going to tell us about what's going on or will we have to play charades to find out?"
 
Kyne swallowed nervously and glanced at Yui. "You always pick the weird ones, Momo."


She looked at him. "Shut up Kyne. I picked you didn't I? Surely that says enough."


Kyne put his hand over his heart. "Oh Momo, that cuts me deep, y'know?" he gasped.


She stood up.


"Let's get to the point, Kyne. Who's the girl, what's the status and where are the others?" Yui asked authoritatively.


Kyne sighed.


"Fine. You're no fun, Momo."


He stood up too, gesturing to the teenager still sitting confused on the bed.


"This is Annabelle. I found her wandering around just before the bombs fell. She was dazed and quite confused, so I led her down here with us until they stopped" he explained slowly. "I was down here with Kaede and Pepper, but they went up a couple hours ago to forage."
 
"And the problem is they were supposed to be back here a while ago? But you couldn't go to find them as you didn't want to leave her alone?"
 
Kyne shrugged.


"There's no problem, I was bit erm..busy."


He cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair, glancing at the girl.


Yui stared at him.


"You--" she began, before being cut off.


"Anyway--" Kyne interrupted. "--what about you, Momo? Where'd you find this lad?"


He motioned to Darren.
 
"Don't try and change the subject. Are you telling me... With her..." Darren glared at him, the shotgun wavering on his shoulder and his hand clenched into a fist.
 
Yui stepped forward and kicked Kyne's crotch with the force of a thousand cramps.


"You filthy scumbag" she hissed as he collapsed in a gasping heap.


Annabelle recoiled from Yui. She stood up and ran the other side of the room.


Yui looked at Darren.


"We don't need Kyne's help and he clearly doesn't need ours. Get the girl, we're going back. I'll collect any supplies left here" she commanded.


Annabelle's eyes widened.


"N-no" she mumbled. "I-I don't want to go w-with y-you..."


Yui turned and faced Annabelle. Her eyes aflame, she raised her hand and pointed at Annabelle.


"Shut it."
 
"This guy isn't treating you right. We're going to make sure nothing happens like that again." Darren walked over to Annabelle and picked her up over the other shoulder.
 
Annabelle cried out, punching Darren in the back.


"Get off of me, you monster!" she screamed.


Yui huffed.


"Ignore her, Darren. I'm going to collect the supplies. Can you get the door, please?" she asked nicely, walking over to the storage cabinets.


They were still shut, their rusty locks untouched. Yui stomped on the locks, breaking them off.


"Child's play." she mumbled to herself.


She opened the cabinets and found more tins of food, but still no water. Not fresh water, anyway.


"Darren--" she called. "--do you think we'd be able to filter out this water? It's not fresh, but it's bottled. There's also another med pack in here."
 
Darren grunted from the punch, "It's possible, we'd just need to find an ion exchange column and some filter paper." He swung the door open, walking over the still injured Kyne.
 
Darren stepped back out into the air and took a long breath. "I don't think he was telling the truth, about them going foraging." He started heading back to where they had come from before.
 
"How so?" Yui replied, cocking her head slightly.


Her left ear twitched in confusion. She could hear the water swishing around in the bottles in her arms.
 
"What if they weren't there in the first place, or worse..." Darren didn't finish, he cleared his throat instead, "So, Annabelle, was there anyone besides you and Kyne?"
