The year is 2051 and Humanity has been looking for a new home Terra-forming a planet was out of the question it would be nearly impossible to create a sustainable environment fast enough or efficiently enough (at the time.) So humanity sent out an Expedition to find a new planet that could sustain the ever growing population due to an excess of pollution on earth. The selected planet "Goldilocks" was to be reached by a team of scientists engineers architects and technicians, some of the brightest minds on the planet in order to be prepared for humanity's arrival assuming the planet could support human life. Two expeditions were sent out, the first a military vessel, simply to discover whether the planet had aggressive intelligent life or not, the second was the research vessel "Vostrada'am." Neither had full invasion capabilities by any means due to their size, so no WMDs were brought along everything taken was in the interest of defense from wildlife.
The current year is 2234, the crew of the Vostrada'am has been awoken to the discovery of Goldilocks, as well as an odd transmission. The initial military vessel stopped pinging with Vostrada'am several months prior to the research team's arrival for unknown reasons. The Vostrada'am still attempts a landing and crashes, leaving the survivors to fend for themselves in a foreign and possibly hostile world.
Unknown voice: "This is Doctor Braun aboard the Vostrada'am extra-solar system exploration ship Mission log, number... 478. The date is 26/07/2234. We've been pulled out cryo for the sixth time by the damn A.I., A.V.A. She seems to be malfunctioning, which on it's own sounds like a massive problem, however that just means we'll have to rely on clocks and timers once again as opposed to an automated crew member, at least until the technicians can figure out what is wrong with her. That aside, there is still no sign of this 'Goldilocks' planet we were sent to look for. I am beginning to think this mission was a waste of time, life on other planets seemed promising at first but the more we look the more and more i begin to think that we are alone in this massive Universe. I'd say i want to go home, but by now we've been out here for more than a hundred earth years, so my family is all dead... I wonder if anyone is even left alive back at home... for all we know another world war could have started and everyone could be dead, and it would take years for the information to travel so that we could find out. These are beginning to become more like journal entries than mission logs, at this point though there isn't much else to report. I-"
Unknown voice: "Dr. Braun? Dr. Seger is requesting your assistance. one of the drones picked up an intelligible radio message..."
Dr. Braun: "What? Oh you mean the messages we began sending out in the 1980s, yes A.V.A. believe it or not humans could communicate back in the stone age as well."
A.V.A.: "Dr. Braun i don't fully understand your distaste for me and why you insist on treating me like a child, but regardless of that this broadcast is not human. we haven't been able to decipher it yet. The Cryptologist is beginning to translate it into binary, however our recording of the message is not full we only managed to pick up small sections of the entire broadcast."
Dr. Braun: "You're-... I'll be right over thank you A.V.A."
*End of Recording*
*Recording begins*
A.V.A.: "Beginning recording of meeting room, approximately 21 hours after the discovery of Alpha Appello. This recording is for military hands only and will not be vocalized to the rest of the crew. The time is 1752 on 26/06/2234."
Unknown voice (1): "We managed to recover as much of Alpha Appello as I could in binary. It is... well it's interesting. we don't have any vocalized simulation of it because we have no way to directly translate it other than using the multiple computer languages that were broadcast with it."
Unknown voice (2): "Dr. Seger how do we know that this broadcast wasn't just some of those space echoes we picked up all the time on earth? I mean, we haven't even found the planet we're looking for, which might i add is supposed to have already been found, and suddenly we're getting alien transmissions!? That is absolutely ridiculous!"
Dr. Seger: "Dr. Lee, you are a medical Doctor and i don't mean to discredit you, but i am the Cryptologist, let us not get our lines of work mixed up, i know this isn't a space echo. I highly doubt that the infinite cosmos are looking for some sort of 'Icon.' Nor would a space echo come in multiple languages."
Dr. Lee: "Excuse me? Icon? What are you talking about?"
Unknown Voice (3): "Dr. Lee had you not interrupted him with your outburst about space echoes i believe that is where he was going with this."
Dr. Braun: "Everyone settle down, please we don't need to have internal conflict Dr. Carter I am sure she did not mean anything out of it, i believe we're all a little on edge because of this. Seger, please continue."
Dr. Seger: "Thank you, so essentially the sections we got translated to something along the lines of. 'We have found the Icon's shield world... we will retrieve...' Several seconds of the broad cast were lost at this point. 'it will unlock... godly power...' again several seconds were lost. 'it is our job to eradicate- to the afterlife.' And that is all we were able to get from it."
Dr. Carter: "So we're dealing with a space cult of aliens that want to exterminate something?"
Unknown Voice (4): "Well, they must mean humans, as far as our knowledge goes, we are the only life within earshot of them. We should take security measures."
Dr. Lee: "Captain Fletcher, as head of our on board security we of course all respect your input and your opinion, but realistically we don't have the man power to do so. Your forces are only here to defend us from the fauna we we're supposed to have found by now. There is what forty or fifty of you and your soldiers max? If they come for us we should try to appear peaceful. It is our only chance."
Captain Fletcher: "My job is to keep you safe and i am going to do it in the way i see fit. So if your peace plans don't work i will take action."
Unknown voice (5): "Why do we assume that they're coming for us? We are a single research vessel in the middle of a solar system. I would hardly call destroying us an eradication, i doubt they even know we exist yet. They were likely talking about some Heretic sect of their race. In addition to us being so small, we could barely detect their transmission isn't it likely that they hundred of thousands of AUs away from us?"
A.V.A.: "Distance was not the issue Klause, it was frequency, the message was running on an inconsistent frequency which leads me to believe they were using something far more advanced than what is on the Vostrada'am and it just happened to be somewhat backwards compatible whether that is by design or by freak coincidence is unknown entirely."
*The sound of a door opening can be heard.*
Unknown voice (6): "I don't mean to interrupt your meeting but the bridge team just spotted Goldilocks."
Klause: "What? You're kidding, get everyone to the bridge we need to start doing Radar mappings and Weather reports immediately."
*Running can be heard*
Dr Lee: "I will never understand that man's fascination with mapping things. I'm glad to have a cartographer as efficient as him don't get me wrong, but i will never understand him. Let's revisit this subject in the near future for now let's go see what is up with this planet. We definitely found it much later than we should have."
*Recording ends*
{Bridge recording started at 1806 on 26/06/2234}
Unknown voice: "let's get this on audio at the very least some one start a recording."
Dr. Braun: "I already have, thank you for coming on such short notice Dr. Wittman."
Dr. Wittman: "Of course, Braun. So what is this you're all telling me? That our coordinates were incorrect?"
Cartographer Klause: "Well it isn't just that they were wrong, because a miscalculation on time and orbit was possible, but rather.... that the planet has literally moved since we last viewed it."
Dr. Wittman: "Klause if you are questioning my degree in physics and engineering i will have you iced from this operation i do not need any of this nonsense while i try to work."
Klause: "Elisia i'm serious, the planet literally up and moved from where it's original orbit was. All of our coordinates are wrong. As head engineer and one of our highest physics majors aboard the ship, i understand your questioning of that statement. But please don't take my words as an insult Dr. Wittman, it has moved all of our numbers a wrong no matter what conditions you punch in. The planet has moved entirely."
Dr. Lee: "That doesn't make any sense though, how could a planet just move? Nothing has hit it right?"
Captain Fletcher: "Nothing other than the last research vessel."
*Dr. Wittman giggling can be heard before absolute silence*
Dr Lee: "Fletcher, that's not funny this is serious. If you're going to take this lightheartedly then you can get off the bridge until you're ready to not be a child."
Dr Braun: "This is serious, we don't know what happened to the last research vessel is it possible that this change in position could have something to do with it?"
Klause: "Well, i mean yes it changed positioning and required a change in course obviously if it had happened near the time they arrived, but Wittman would be the only one in the room that could tell us for sure."
Dr. Wittman: "Yes, it could have been the direct cause. if they did not have the means to make a course correction it could have caused a crash... A.V.A. would we be able to make a correction to land on the planet?"
*A playback loop is audible*
A.V.A.: "Yes we could, in theory, however it would take precise timing. it's exactly like landing on earth, we have to do everything correctly otherwise we'll crash."
*Recording ends*
*Several Recordings seem to have been erased*
A.V.A.: "All crew members brace for impact. we will be making contact in approximately 252 seconds. our collision will be with solid ground. Multiple sections of the Vostrada'am will be separating across a 15 miles wide radius."
*Panic throughout the ship can be heard with items cluttering and people pushing at each other*
A.V.A. "All Crew members do not attempt to reach the life boats as all have already been launched, please brace for impact. at the angle of landing survival is possible much of the ship while scattered will remain intact."
*recording ends*

In this RP you will play the part of a Scientist (of a specific type), Engineer, Technician, Cartographer, On board Doctor, or security personnel, (If you have other things you'd like to be that i didn't mention as i was pretty broad just PM me about it) aboard the Research Vessel Vostrada'am. The Vostrada'am is part of a two ship research mission sent out from Earth in the years 2041 and 2042, the Vostrada'am being the later of the two launches. The Vostrada'am lost contact with the initial launch ship several months before arriving at the objective planet. As written above the Vostrada'am has crashed and you will be playing a surviving crew member that you create.
Now this isn't so much a dice role kind of RP but i will be playing the hand of God (Because we all know regulation amongst players themselves is nearly impossible and someone has to play the 'NPCs') so there will be some RNG and there will obviously be logic I.E. If you're a Cartographer and decide to just straight up shoot it out with a soldier, the odds of combat will be in their favor.
If you have any questions feel free to PM me or ask in the Out of character chat.
