- The Awakening
-
We've all experienced it at one point.
The feeling of waking up, knowing who you are... and nothing else.
Deja vu...
Memories. Memories of you; memories you made, but that lingering feeling that you weren't quite... there. You kicked that soccer ball, yes, but were you... aware? Did you know it was you? Did you know what you were doing? Was anything going on in your head aside from, "kick the ball, kick the ball?"
It happens to normal people too, but usually at a young age. It's a phenomenon scientists describe as a "birthing of consciousness"; the moment your meta-psyche becomes realized and you finally become aware of, well, being you.
Then there are others. It's happened in the past few months and the past few months alone. Usually in the teenage years, but that's just a matter of coincidence; provided you're one of "us", you'll have either had it happen, or will have it happen.
They call it the "Awakening".
The Awakening is the event in which you, your true self, becomes aware. Your true potential is realized.
Your true potential as a god.
Nobody knows why we've reincarnated like this, but I have a clue. Lately I've been having this reoccurring dream. I'm walking through a temple; it's dark and cold. I can't see my own face, I don't even know if I have the same face. I walk down to the end of the chamber and there's a room. Murals dot the walls as far as the eye can see. Murals of gods, murals of the beings we are.
I don't know why, but I always wake up at that point. I'm scared. I don't know what's coming next... but I know one thing. I have to find that temple. We have to find it. If we don't...
If we don't find it... well, I don't know what'll happen.
- Plot
- You are a recently reawoken mythological deity who has just taken a human host. Your goal is to adapt to human kind, maintaining a low profile while searching for this location you vaguely remember from your post-awakening dream. You will begin off weak- smarter, stronger, faster than the average human, yet still not fully capable of taking on the challenges ahead on your own. The closer you are to your ultimate objective, the more powerful you become.
- Giza: Over the course of decades, Giza has changed much, though mainly on the technological side of the spectrum. While the deserts remain nearly unchanged, it's the land-marks that have undergone massive changes. The Pyramids are surrounded by a beautiful, technologically advanced city, seemingly detached from the simple, peaceful sands surrounding it. The busy streets almost resemble an ant nest, the residents scuttling around like insects. Hover cars litter the asphalt, buzzing about at speeds which, in our times, would've been incredibly dangerous to drive at. However on closer inspection, it's not that different from the present day. The populace is busy making use of their technology like their lives depend on it; the vehicles are identical to eachother and possess no driver; the "phones" are simply holographic watches; the street lights don't even exist considering that they're mapped into the auto-pilot of the cars, and the apartments are lit up though they rarely seem occupied.
Rome: Though much of Rome's architecture has been preserved, gravitational thrusters have now been implanted deep within the landmass, lifting the entire city of Rome thirty feet above ground level. Rails connect from building to building, looping through the ruins of ancient Rome, and high-speed rail cars dart through the sky. Most people live in what appears to be shambles, akin to the ruins of old times, but these actually have compression tubes that lead deep underground to bomb shelter-esque homes, with the ruins being an artistic facade.
Athens: The Athens's architecture is a beautiful blend of a futuristic metropolis and ancient Greece. The main attraction is Acropolis hill, or rather what's below it - a rich quarry filled with rare ores and minerals worth dozens, though only a VERY small portion is available to the public, with the majority being private property purchased and reserved by wealthy organizations.
Like the Pyramid City in Giza, the streets of the beautiful megalopolis are riddled with hovering vehicles and sophisticated technology, though rather than being a single dull, unified color coating the buildings and a very simple design for the cars, the Athens takes a more varied approach. Expensive modes of transportation are easily discernable from the cheaper ones, and the populace is more varied in ethnicity, mainly due to the sheer amount of tourists. Though nothing especially out of the ordinary is sighted in the Athens, loud rumbles and crackles can occasionally be heard from beneath Acropolis Hill during the deepest of the night.
Hong-Kong: Hong Kong hasn't changed much in recent years. It's still a sea-side metropolis, dotted with street carts, mopeds, and the occasional mugging. However, its weapon industry has skyrocketed, despite the architecture's stagnation. Criminals now walk the street with powerful tesla cannons, strength-enhancing power suits, and even jetpacks. The Triad has risen in power, growing to be stronger than the city's government, making even the most honest of police officers unable to do anything but rot within the corruption.
Sydney: Sydney is now known as the, "Sky City," due to the massive amounts of inter-building scaffolding that connects the upper levels of the city. Old Sydney remains as the foundation, but is inaccessible to citizens. The scaffolding making up the tiers of Sydney is reminiscent of the Harbour Bridge, though spirals off in vein-like patterns. Ladders lead up to new areas of scaffolding, before finally connecting all pathways to the top level of Sydney; the Sky City itself. The Sky City of Sydney is a magnificent spectacle of white marble roads, clean energy vehicles, and shell-like architecture. Small patches of artificial plants decorate the suburbia-like residental areas of the Sky City, providing no real benefit asides from an aesthetic view. What the government of Sydney doesn't want their citizens to know, however, is that the Sky City is on its last limb; the scaffolding making up the former levels of Sydney haven't been maintained for years, the homeless and destitute are forced to live within the darkened, plant-overun areas of underground pipe gardens, and the new-found altitude of Sydney has made the fishing industry obsolete. - *No over-riding. Over-riding is when you attack someone and give them no chance to respond. Ex: "Jace swung his sword, cutting Jack in half." This is unfair to Jack, because you just chopped him to bits.
*No time-lapses unless approved by the GM. Ex: "I kidnap a young girl and train her for many years to be my disciple. She now has godly powers and will defend me at any cost." This completely shatters the time-frame of the RP.
*No god-modding. God-modding is when you make a character far too powerful. Ex. "A ray of light hits me, and suddenly, I gain the powers of ice, fire, lightning, gravity, and plasma! I use all five to blast you away." We will have very powerful characters, but they are going to be within a limit.
