If you were a Deathlord

Does it?

I must confess that I'm working on an adaptation of Exalted's Underworld to the Virgilian Erebus (or the other way, I'm not sure), and it is important for me to know if there is any canon thing that states that souls are good for Primordials. I've never read the Auto book, so I'm not sure.

Autochthon found souls quite important, as he stole a huge number of them before he left for Elsewhere; in addition, in one of the scenarios in the Alchemicals book, Autochthon returns and re-awakens, and one of the first things he does is vacuum up another ton of souls.

There's also 'naturally occuring' Soulsteel in Autochthonia, although it's quite rare, and the reasoning for how it got there was... a little odd.

autocthon filled up his tank from the soul foundry the gods/primos had before he left, I think he runs on them, the main problem is every person born inside autocthon uses one of those souls...and he's running low (in first ed anyhoo) so more and more citizens are being stillborn in their vats.

I don't like the idea of Primordials feeding on human souls. It rubs me the wrong way.

According to other 1E sources, humanity was created long after Creation was established. It doesn't add up.

I think it's the other way round, humans sprouted out of the primordials food source...like mold.

or on day a primordial said "hey, lookie here. if you shove a soul into a meat-carcass it can move and do as I say and stuff"

On the other hand, chocolate chip cookies were invented long after humans came into being, and while no one lives on them, many humans enjoy them as a tasty snack.

I always thought humans with their souls were created because souls were needed to make prayers that actually yield something in yu shan. I agree with flagg.

well then, maybe autocthon loaded up on souls so he could create beings than would worship him and provide sustenance during his nap

I gave a big long spiel on what I thought the nature of souls in Exalted was, once. Does anyone remember where it is?

Anyway, Auto; I think souls, or rather the flow of souls, is something primordials need when they've opened up into a world. They've gotten bigger, right? So they need some way of driving their own essence the extra mile. So Auto uses the flow of souls back and forth like a kind of waterwheel to keep himself chugging away. The reason he's losing them is just because he's sick and they're leaking out through his voidbits.

Or, that's a theory, at least. There are others.

I like it. Souls as bloodstream that moves important bits around. Prayer move essence, perhaps dying souls move something else around and then again at reincarnation...

I would stash mine within a swift kicks distance to oblivion.

"What are you doing, this is mad! madness!"

"THIS, IS, EXALTED!" *thwump*

I'd loan mine to the god of slavery and convince him to collect slaves that exalted as solars for me...darn, beaten!
