The Queen Bitch
Unaware and uninterested of what was happening behind him, Chester eventually finished his food. “Damn…” Okay, so maybe he had taken longer than he expected? He literally had some tight 5 minutes before the train came and…The train station was 5 minutes away. “Sandra, I’ll leave the money here, you can keep the change!” Chester exclaimed, taking out a 20 dollar bill. “H-huh? You are leaving?” The old lady came out from the back, drying her hands with a towel. “Yes, gotta run. Take care!” No time for a single word, no time to stare around, no time for anything. If he didn’t make it to the train station—He was screwed.
The young man swiped up the sports bag that was on the floor and threw it around his shoulder, quickly making his way out of the store. As soon as his foot stepped outside, Chester turned towards the direction of his destination and dashed forwards. Good—Nice, another opportunity to practice! Time set: 4 minutes till the train arrived. If he was fast enough, he’ll make it there in three.
Without looking back, his legs began to move faster…faster…faster! Determined eyes narrowed forwards and concentrated on the street in front of him. He almost ran past a green light, but life was nice enough to make the traffic light turn red, so the cars could stop and let him pass by without stopping. It was exciting, you know? The adrenaline rushing through his veins as a mental clock ticked loudly in his ears; He was going to make it. He’ll make it!
As the train approached, its horn thundered loudly in the air, announcing it was about to stop. Chester heard it when he skidded around the corner, eyes spotting the train station right down the street. It was a race between him and the train now, who was going to get there first? Well, Chester wasn’t going to lose! He forced his legs to take longer, bigger, faster steps, zooming pass people, cars, garbage cans—The only thing he saw were those steps that lead towards the platform, and the train’s wheels were already screeching as the giant, metal vehicle pressed on its breaks. Then it came to a stop, and its doors opened. “When leaving the train, please watch the gap” A computerized voice spoke through the speakers as people begun to fill its insides, scattering through the carts. “The doors are now closing, please don’t lean against them.”
Almost there…Almost there….Almost there!!!!
CLANK!
The racket intercepted those closing doors, holding them open just enough so that the blue haired young man could dive through the gap and skid inside the cart, quickly twisting his body back to yank the vertical racket out. The doors then smacked closed and Chester flopped back on one of the seats with a loud sigh.
“…That…was way too close”
