That One Fear In My Enemy's Eyes
Era's fingers interlaced with one another and her chin reseted atop them.
"... It's something I discovered a while back. I call it Bio-Electric Ki Disruption, or BEKD for short. I have only encountered it once and never heard or read of it from any scientific sources or journals during my travels through the galaxy. As far as I know it's undiscovered, or at least unrecognized by most, if not all, intergalactic scientific organizations. But you can liken it to an EMP which specifically targets bio-electricity and everything connected to it, including Ki." She said.
She looked at Elprede out of the corner of her eye.
"I encountered the attack two years ago. I was visiting Earth on the continent called Australia teaching a class of human warriors how to use their Ki to fly when the facility was attacked by a relatively weak non-humanoid alien creature with a strange node on its back. I managed to drive it back due to its low power level, but then the purpose of that node was revealed to me. I noticed the energy condensing around the node and initially thought nothing of it, but as soon as its aura flared I felt some kind of invisible shockwave hit me and after that everything went to Hell in a hand basket, as the humans say.." She recalled.
"My exterior limbs instantly went numb and my head began to swim. My vision blurred and my sense of balance was so thrown I couldn't tell up from down anymore. I fell to the ground like a sac of rice, and the creature escaped while I was down. The humans tended to me, telling me afterwards that their warriors and all civilians within a roughly five mile radius of the creature when it let the attack loose suffered from it as well. The farther away they were, the less effective it was. But they were affected all the same. Because the humans were weaker than I was, they recovered before I did which is rather interesting and somewhat counter-intuitive. You'd think that the stronger individual would recover first, but then again since I was so much stronger it's possible that I was just hit that much harder by it. It took me over two hours to be able to think straight. Another hour to be able to see properly. Another hour to move my arms and legs. And another half hour before I could stand and walk around." She recalled.
She then turned her head to face Elprede.
"The worst part was that my Ki was disrupted for the entire day. I couldn't so much as form a tiny ball of Ki on my finger until the next morning after almost fourteen hours of rest. And it was another eight hours after that before I could fly again." She said.
"I can imagine that you with your speed and with Jasmine's help could probably predict if such an unnatural wave of energy was forming and avoid it, but as a precaution I would advise that in the event that you can't sense any changes that you should at least keep it in your mind to be wary of anything that has a semi rounded horn-like node on its body, particularly if you see it along the spinal chord which is where I saw it." She warned.
"I have a theory about this biological weapon, but since I'm no scientist don't put too much stock in this idea... But I believe that this creature's body was essentially a factory on overdrive of bio-electricity. The reason for this is because as we fought and during each of its attacks, I felt a tiny shock of static electricity when my body collided with its own. As well, anytime we got near a source of electricity in the human world like a telephone pole or a utility box, the boxes shorted out and the wires along the entire stretch of the street shorted out and began sparking." She said.
"My theory is that this creature's node somehow concentrates it sown overdriven levels of bio-electricity into a weapon which it can then expel outwards. Based on the way its energy pooled around the node, I suspect that the node is the point of release. I noticed just moments before my vision blurred that the creature's body grew slightly smaller and its muscles seemed to relax for an instant. After that, I cannot say. The humans confirmed these momentary observations once I was able to speak again and discuss what had happened. When it took off, its body no longer shorted sources of electricity as it made its escape."
She returned her head forwards and rested her chin on her interlaced hands again.
"If that wave affected me so much I can only imagine the kind of damage it would do to your body, to say nothing of what it could potentially do to Jasmine... So be wary. If you ever encounter a being who can short out sources of electricity in its vicinity and which carries that rounded horn-like node anywhere on its body, keep your distance if at all possible. Chances are it can use that technique and is not worth the risk of engaging in combat." She warned.
