[IC] Act 3, Scene 2 : Journey of a Thousand Leagues... [Creation is your oyster]

It appeared that death of assorted barbarians thus far has not demonstrated to the poor wretches that they were truly out of their liege. As such, it isn't surprising to see the barbarians attempting to strike at the princes of the earth with their swords and axes.

The operative word being attempt.

But sometimes... goddess of luck can be fickle and favors those that she should ignore. And thus the crackling with lightning and elemental might Misora gazed upon a sword swinging down upon her pretty head. One that could crack open her head like a coconut.

Misora was not about to let her elegant features be marred by the barbarian's blade, no... She was too quick for that. Side-stepping a bit out of the way, the barbarian's blade only strikes lightning as it passed clear-by Misora. The Ledaal placed her foot in the way of the stumbling barbarian's feet, tripping him into the nearby table, straight into a dish of unfinished mashed potatoes.

The Air Aspect turned around with a blank, emotionless face, staring down at the barbarian whose face was covered in the mashed potatoes. "You must be either really brave to attack me, or extremely stupid. Knowing barbarians such as yourself, I'd say it's the latter."

Telega closed his eyes and took a deep breath, the world seeming to fall away as he drew his daiklave, pulsing in his hands with attuned essence to the beat of a heart. Three cuts, three targets. His body was lightened by essence, emotion, and bloodlust as he made his three attacks, eyes wide in naked exultation as the daiklave swung through the air.

Spending 3 motes to buy a pair of dice on each attack using the 1st melee excellency.

"Banditry was a poor choice of profession. May your next incarnation show better judgement."

Despite the... vicious fatality that the dragonblooded are doing, (To the surprise and awed looks of the villagers, who have a look of hope that maybe... just maybe, they could be saved...) the barbarians didn't let up...

As additional barbarians stormed the inn to slay the chosen of the gods.

It appeared that Misora, with all her elementally essence sparking around her, was... popular, given the attempts to hit her.

Still... given the essence within her, they were but paltry attempts. Unlike the strike essayed by an overly bold and daring barbarian who shrieked as he struck at Coriander.

Tired of fumbling with the hatchets on his back, Emerk moves to strike the nearest barbarian, snake or otherwise, summons his torment hatchets midstrike. With a step onto the side of the barbarian’s knee pulling the barbarian down and Emerk up the hatchet enters into the upper back with a crunch of metal and bone and water pouring from the mouth of the barbarian and a blue crackle of lightning barely visable abound the skin. Without missing stride Emerk’s next step is on to the hatchet and leaping to the next barbarian, one in the doorway, landing a hatchet into each shoulder causing the same crackle and and fill of water and pushing the barbarian back out the door. Emerk rips the hatchets free spraying his face and the barbarians face with blood.

Far too late, in fact she could only blame her on sudden sentimentality. Seeing her precious Misora in danger had distracted her, just enough for one of those barbarians to get uncomfortably close, their gleaming axe mere moments away from striking at her flesh. Still even those few instants of clarity were more precious than the last few drops of water to a man dying of thirst in the Southern reaches of the world. She didn't waste any time, stumbling back in what appeared to be a clumsy manner but from her perspective felt more introspective and pensive, as she came up with her plan, letting herself drop prone on the ground as she had been taught by her martial arts tutor in such a situation.

It had been ages since she'd last used such a method to escape harm, but it wasn't time to question the old ways. Rolling to the side while grabbing the powerbow that fell along with her, she awaits the coming blow with false dread. As the smirking creature comes for her at last, this time with her cornered to so speak, she lets out a loud and powerful kiai. Her battle cry would hopefully cause him to go rigid for an instant, just barely enough for her to weave her way under his weapon and back into more open ground.

Telega noticed the attacking snakeman nearly a second too late, his daiklave whipping up to intercept the anathema-spawn's strike. As their blades locked, he gritted his teeth, at this range he could see every scale, the delicate, razor sharp and likely poisonous teeth, the cold and lifeless serpentine eyes. . . he could almost imagine he could smell the subtle stench of a reptile coming from it's body. Disgusted, he pushed away, breaking the lock and backing off, holding his blade in a defensive stance.

With the number of fallen barbarians around the entrance of the inn and inside it... it shouldn't be too surprising that the surviving barbarians who feel like assaulting the dragonblooded inside the in, have decided to go with fire.

Firing the inn would put them at less risk while killing two birds with a single stone.

Thus torches were thrown into the inn windows as well as the thatched roof.

Which meant that the last snake man's charge into the inn... didn't quite make sense, but then... he was just a wyld mutant.

Not that his attack was in the least bit effective.

"Iyazmina, put out the fire!" he said to the flame duck, ordering her to use her innate elemental expression to contain the flames...

With that, he turned around, bringing his lance's point in an interception course with the latest barbarian's carotid artery, positioning himself so as not to receive the resulting spray of blood, channeling Essence through footwork and posture to deny the inglorious mutated bastard a chance to avoid the blow... which bit deep and severed the creature's neck just above the collarbone, projecting not one but two crimson spurts, one for each carotid, which painted the walls as the dying carcass spun in mid air with the force of the blow, before falling with a loud crack.

Misora glared down at the barbarian that she tripped into the potatoes earlier. Raising her hand, still surging with electrical energy, she smirked. "You had your chance to leave this people alone. Now all of you will die." That was when she saw the fire break out in the inn that she was currently in. "Damn it..."

The Ledaal then shot the lightning from her fingertips at the barbarian, letting him sizzle after it surged through him, turning away from that disgusting barbarian, she faced the ones that were just outside... Shooting two of them with lightning as well.

Snapping his needle case closed, Dujn has an all too common look of "Why bother?" written all over himself. A precursory heavy sigh heralds his assault on the few remaining barbarians. Leaping at a trio of the barbarians, Dujn's foot lands squarely in the chest of the first. Pushing off of the chest of the first , to gain momentum, Dujn's foot again connects with a barbarian. This time in the shoulder. Leaping off yet again, Dujn's final kick connects with a third barbarian's hip. Kicking off from the third barbarian, Dujn at last comes to rest again on solid ground.

The initial barbarian looks unharmed by the attack, but has a quizzical expression on his face that is most likely interpreted as, "Did that I'm uncultured seriously just use me as a springboard? He's so dead."

The other two barbarians are a little off balance, from absorbing the force of Dujn's meager frame crashing into them, but are hardly worse for wear.

With a roll of his eyes he exclaims, "I'll just hang back here and let you folks with actual weapons and sorcery handle things."

"Well, at least you made an effort this time."

Telega followed up Dujn's acrobatic display, moving preternaturally swiftly despite his armored frame, kicking up dust as he ran past the trio of stunned barbarians, blade ripping through them as they turned, too quickly for them to dodge or parry. A swift, brutal strike for the neck at the first barbarian, a ducking stab at the guts of the second, rising into a bisecting slash for the third.

Telega stopped beside the air aspect and grinned, flicking some blood from his sword.

Stalking outside the INN wordlessly even at the barbarian tide attempted to beat an hasty retreat, Coriander took a deep breath even as she brought her kiseru to her lips as she was wont to do, her eyes gleaming with deadly intent and stern determination. Suddenly as if on cue her anima banner flashed totemic without any previous warning, swirling green and black essence rising in a pillar of coruscant light that could hardly be ignored. The very image of fear to mere mortals, the magnificent and supreme art of the most invincible sorcerers of the Realm.

As if swallowed by darkness the petals of what appeared to be a blooming lotus appeared around her from the ether, only to grow more real and solid by the second even as they opened with the glorious scent of this toxic yet pleasant flower on the rising wind, and then it bloomed around her and glorious black lotus petals rose in a spiral around her, even as the emerald glow of intense essence grew even bolder and higher, the pillar now clearly visible all around the village even as the five elements were drawn around her from nothing, created by her will and power, clashing together and melding clearly in the form of what appeared to be some sort of impossibly large animal. Still however she had to shape the sorcery, she had to mold and weave it together into one glorious release of divine power.

She would hunt them as animals and crush them mercilessly, Of that there would be absolutely no doubt at all.

"perhaps we should follow them back to their source and destroy them completely?" Emerk says glad he has his perfect boots on.

Yoran stepped lithely outside of the inn... as a bonfire of Essence flared around him.

"This is not why we're here for," he said flatly upon hearing Emerk's suggestion. His hard stare directed at the last fleeing barbarians - Well, if Coriander summons a fey hound, it will probably track their camp and wreak havoc there, but I can deal with those... -, he shouted: "Stay behind me!"

He raised his left hand to trace the Mudra of Soft Wings, hybridizing it with the Volcano Blade Sigil...

"Lepidoptera born of the meeting of Pasiap and Hesiesh, may your flight sweep my foes and tear them asunder...," he intoned in Old Realm as Essence was shaped and bound into physical form... a sharp and high velocity physical form.

With the barbarians in route, and no need to pursue, Emerk will help put out the fires.

-------

Using elemental bolt (water) help to put out the remaining fires.

Telega is hanging back, not planning on rushing forward and possibly getting caught up in the sorcerous attacks as they launch.

[Guard action]

Misora's eyes and skin stop surging with power and she turns to the fire being put out... But she had to do something, so she starts grouping up the villagers away from the fire and the fleeing barbarians.

Dujn brushes himself off and straightens his outfit, content to let the interlopers flee so he could get back to what was important; a bath.

With what could only be described as a mighty war cry which rapidly turned into a fearsome howl, the beast crafted from sheer elemental essence by Coriander's will came to be, regal and proud under the harsh sun of this southern village. Brushing her hand through her hair as her anima returns to a more regular display progressively, the impatient woman still jumps on top of her improvised steed, ordering him to participate in the merciless sort of hunt one would expect of the Fair Ones rather than one of the dragon's scions, but then again... such things were hardly unheard of.

"Go forth, my servant! Track and catch, rip and rend, hunt and slay! Show no mercy! Show no hesitation! Let not a single one of these foul blasphemers escape this place alive! Such is my demand, such is my command!" she's being rather dramatic but then again, the situation made it rather apropos.

-----------------------

Cast Sorcery action taken.

Join Battle

5d10 → [8,3,9,8,10] = 5 successes

Considering the highest Join Battle earlier, it means I'll get to act again in 2 ticks. At which point she'll draw her bow again to get in some improvised shooting gallery action.

Despite their attempts to flee the village, and the barbarians WERE fleet of feet... they proved to be not swift enough... to escape Corinander and the elemental hound she had summoned and mounted.

This along with the shattering cascade of obsidian butterflies result in the horrific and utter deaths of the barbarians.

In the aftermath of the impossibly swift battle, there is only awed silence from the villagers of Naramar. A moment of silence before they start cheering for the deeds of the dragonblooded heroes from the Realm.
