Fantasy I Was Fine Until You

Caroline could surely use the help, It was rather obvious that she had little idea of what to do with babies or children. It was clear that she was uncomfortable with such things, But hopefully she'd eventually get the hang of it! Gawain had never had that problem though. Grinning, He then said. "Well, I'm sure Theo would be happy to have you and Caroline watch her. " What could go wrong? Gawain would not go too far in case they needed assistance. So they could hardly get up to too much trouble!

Gawain laughed lightly. Nodding as he said. "Indeed, But I love it. I've missed having a kid to take care of. Besides, She's far easier then Gareth was. He was such a timid boy and would just start crying at the littlest things. " He recalled fondly. It hadn't helped that Gareth had been a fairly clumsy child. Often following around the mischievous Gwen and Gaheris. He blinked at the next suggestion. Tilting his head and studying Arthur. He then broke out in a smile and told Arthur. "That would be nice, I have feared I might be getting a little rusty. " Much of his time was focused on little Theo. Though he did make time for training when he could.

Gawain then seemed to think for a moment. Before finally suggesting. "Have you ever been on a real mission Arthur? " Sure, Arthur had fought Loth. But that had been more self defense then anything else. He doubted Arthur had ever been on a guest. Alexander and Rayner might not approve of Gawain's words. But maybe Arthur could use some real experience? So he then said. "Some of the other men have been taking the odd job here and there around here. Dealing with wolves, Or highway men and such. If you'd like, I could keep my ear down and perhaps we could find a bit of work. " Of course, Gawain would look for something relatively easy and would be with Arthur the entire time. But Arthur might enjoy getting to go out and do such things.

Well wouldn’t Caroline just be thrilled at that news! Much like she had been when Arthur had volunteered them for babysitting last time. Honestly, Arthur should maybe talk to her next time before he agreed to anything with her name attached. But, some really hands on experience would probably help the couple, especially if Arthur didn’t go racing off after a traitor almost immediately. Arthur smiled gently at the mention of Gareth. He’d spent even less time around the boy than he had Gawain but from what he had seen, he’d grown a bit bolder in his time, although Arthur too had seen him cry.

His smiled widened though as Gawain agreed to a spar. It would be good to test his skills against someone as good as Gawain and to just get back to training and sparring, he’d missed it. Arthur shook his head at the question, Alexander had not wanted to risk his only son, he was certainly not expendable but that didn’t mean he didn’t wish Arthur had a bit more experience. And speaking of, Arthur’s eyes practically lit up at the suggestion. “I’d like that very much” he agreed. He’d always wanted to do something a bit more real than just training and he, of course, was a fan of helping the people. This was perfect! What better way for Arthur to get experience than with small jobs like this and a brilliant knight at his side just in case anything threatened Arthur that he couldn’t handle? Gawain was one of the best knights in the kingdom so he was certainly a good one for Arthur to trust and learn from. Arthur didn’t even think about Rayner at the suggestion of going out and helping people, although maybe he should be more aware of the king because Arthur had been grounded to the castle. But this was Gawain! Surely they wouldn’t question him with such A famous knight by his side!

Arthur frowned gently and looked at Gawain with a slightly tilted head. “How have you found your stay here so far?” He was curious, Gawain didn't Seem to dislike Rayner but maybe Gawain was just being respectful because he was a king. Or maybe his dislike for Silas outweighed that for Rayner. Gawain looked pretty settled here though, he guessed they’d been here for a while but it was still an odd sight. “Do you ever get used to the cold?” he joked, and Actually, the alcohol had actually managed to make him feel warm yesterday which was nice. “And managed to find your way round okay?” He asked. “I have the feeling I’m going to get lost at some point” probably today whilst he tried to find Vere, although if Silas joined him then that might help his navigation go a bit smoother.

(I’m trying to come up with names for Malia’s baby but drawing a bit of a blank. I’ve considered the names Darius, Christian and Mallory but not really sure theyre a good fit. Any ideas?)

(I like Darius! You could also have him named after Alexander, But Just be Xander or Alexis for short or something. )

Gawain almost laughed at the way Arthur seemed to light up. It was cute, Reminding him much of a young squire getting to go on their first adventure. It was difficult to resist reaching up and ruffling the others hair. He'd need to find something easy to start. He didn't want Arthur to get hurt. But experience would be good for him. Luckily Gawain knew how to keep a eye on those with inexperience. He had mentored someone before after all! He blinked though at the question.

Gawain then smiled gently. Telling him. "I miss home very much. But it hasn't been too bad here. " Gawain had traveled much, This was far from the worst place he had ever been. He then told Arthur. "I will admit, I'd would be happy to never see snow again. But I much prefer it over the heat. " He'd traveled threw deserts before. That wasn't fun at all. Thankfully Gawain's camels had put up with the weather well enough. He doubt a horse would have been able to handle the heat.

Gawain then joked. "Oh, You'll definitely get lost. I've managed it a couple times. I still don't completely know where I'm going in this place." Luckily there was plenty of servants around to guide you should you need it. Gawain then advised. "Don't be shy to ask for help around here. " He figured most would happily help the prince. Hopefully none of the servants ever got lost! Gawain then confessed. "The nobles here are a bit too posh for my liking. Then again, Some of the nobles back home are the same. Its tiring. I don't know how you and King Alexander do it." Which was perhaps a bit odd to hear. Gawain was a well loved knight. Did well with interacting with nobility. But... It wasn't something that came naturally to him. Luckily he did not normally have to deal with such too much!

(Maybe I will go with Darius then but not set on it yet)

Arthur thought it’d be nice to hang out with Gawain and he figured he could be trusted. Arthur, of course, didn’t like the snow and figured he would much prefer deserts but he’d not exactly been to any so he couldn’t say for sure. And Arthur was not reassured when Gawain said he would get lost. Great. He wasn’t as convinced that people would help him, not everyone liked this marriage, or his kingdom, or the news about Morgan and Rayner was hardly going to insist servants be nice to him. He’d try to stick close to Caroline and Silas then.

He smiled gently as Gawian said about the nobles being too posh, yeah, he could understand what he meant. He shook his head “it’s far more my father’s game than mine” he admitted although obviously it was something he’d need to be used to once he became king. “I just try to be polite and keep my head down” He didn’t really want to get into talks about marriages and money and fashion. He was far more at home around the knights. Wheh he’d first met Silas they hadn’t really gotten on but Arthur had warmed up to him. And, speaking of. “uh, about Silas” he intersected. “I’d prefer if you didn’t talk to his father about...your concerns” he said and Gawain might not like what he was saying. “I understand you don’t like him, but his father is unnecessarily….hard on him.” He didn’t really want to just spit out that Silas was getting hit by his father on a rather regular basis but it might actually make Gawain understand why he should stop.

”he’s really not that bad” Arthur promised him. “I know he can be a bit of a brat and he’s rude and pushy and okay, I’m not making him sound good, but he is kind really, it just takes a while to warm up to him” Although Gawain had had plenty of time to learn to get along with the other prince. “Even if not for him, you’d be doing me A favour” he murmured. He needed to go meet up with Caroline but he wanted to try and protect Silas a bit better whilst he could. Maybe Silas would feel embarrassed if he knew that Arthur was thinking about this so much and that he was talking to others about it to try and protect him.

Gawain was enjoying his little conversation with Arthur. It was nice, But then Arthur just had to bring up Silas. It made Gawain visibly tense. Looking away. He then huffed. "Anything that happens to him, He deserves. " And okay, Gawain probable didn't know exactly what was going on. But it was entirely likely he knew atleast a little bit. He had been staying here for a decent while afterall. He then looked towards Arthur. Shaking his head. He then continued. "It took us ages to reach Gaheris with him leading us. He... " He trailed off, And Gawain so dearly wanted to put blame on Silas. Lance was no longer here for him to take his anger out on. So Silas was who he targeted.

Silas had helped them get Gaheris and Theo. But Gawain could only imagine it would have been quicker without him. Silas refused to take the quickest path. Stating it was dangerous. Would make them stop whenever a storm came. Though Gawain knew very well the men would be able to handle pushing forward. They had barely managed to get Gaheris and Theo before they could be sold. If he had lost them... The idea had him almost trembling. So no, He refused to trust Silas. The man was a coward.

Gawain then huffed towards Arthur. "Just make sure he stays away from me. " If he had lost Theo or Gaheris. He might very well had killed Silas. Frankly, If Lance hadn't been there during the journey Silas would have ended up a lot more injured. Maybe the entire group might not have survived with Gawain insistence to keep pushing ahead. But... Gawain seemed willing to at the very least keep his distance from Silas for now. So atleast that was something.

Arthur narrowed his eyes a little as Gawain so resolutely stayed against Silas and even insisted he deserved trouble and pain. Arthur tried to reason that Gawain didn't know what Rayner was doing to Silas but it didn’t help that much. They’d taken a while to get here? Well Arthur could understand why Silas wouldn't want to return home but he’d still got them to Gaheris and Theo was also safe. He didn’t really Understand what had gone down between Silas and Gawain but it seemed Gawain wasn’t too willing to listen to him. He sighed. “I imagine that'll he easy enough” Silas hadn’t seemed to want to spend time with Gawain. “Now, I have to go check on Caroline, come find me if you want someone to babysit”

He managed to make his way back to their room. His head still hurt but now from worrying thoughts about Silas and Gawain instead of mainly the alcohol. He tried to straighten his rumpled clothes before Going to push open the door. It was early though, maybe she’d still be asleep, or maybe he should knock in case he interrupted her changing. He was her husband but he didn’t really want to embarrass her or anything. Arthur didn’t consider such possibilities though as he went to open The door and apologise immediately. “I’m sorry, I meant to come back, time got away from me.“ and the alcohol had got to him. Would she be angry he’d ended up drinking with Silas? Did she want an update on the situation or was it too painful to hear?

He didn’t know if and when he’d see Rayner today but he really wasn’t presentable at the moment and he didn’t want a sloppy appearance to be something for Rayner to nitpick at. Although he really couldn't care less for the man’s opinion, he’d rather not cause any arguments. He needed to bathe and change and maybe eat before he found Vere and checked on him. And okay maybe he wanted a bit to look his best for Vere but lingering on that thought would make his blush.

Caroline was awake when Arthur returned. Awoken early from dreadful morning sickness. Not that she had slept well during the night. Worrying about Arthur plus feeling sick had just left her tired. A part of her had wanted to get up and go seek him out, To check on him. But if he was with Silas Caroline didn't much want to interrupt him. Thus she had remained in their room. Curled up on the bed. She nearly jumped at the sound of the door opening. Head lifting in alarm and eyes wide. But she soon relaxed at the sight of Arthur. Scrambling to her feet. She rushed over to him. "Oh Arthur! I was worried, What happened? Is Silas okay? " She began fretting.

Then she caught the smell of alcohol on his clothes. Which... She didn't really know what to make of. Though she imagined such was Silas's idea knowing her brother. But she decided it best to bite her tongue and not comment on it. Still, it did make her frown. Oh, Caroline probable looked dreadful. A bit pale with dark circles under her eyes. She just looked ill. She already knew breakfast was out of the question as she wasn't sure she'd be able to keep any food down.

Finally Caroline leaned against her husband and wrapped her arms around him in a hug. Just feeling like she needed it. Arthur probable wanted to get dressed she knew. Go out and do something, The man had not seen much of the kingdom and probable wanted to explore. But Caroline half wanted to ask him to join her in bed and just cuddle. She was tired and wanted to be near someone. Anyone. But she found her gaze drifting down. No, It was morning and she herself should be awake and she didn't want to worry Arthur.

Oh, she had been worried. Arthur felt guilt creep up on him and it wasnt helped with tried and sick she looked. He should’ve at least been back earlier to comfort her through her morning sickness. He’d need to do better. He always needed to do better. “He’s okay” he reassured her, although whilst he figured it was true, he realised it was probably relative. Silas wasn’t okay overall, he was being hurt by his father and He was covered in bruised as well as likely having psychological trauma but right now? Silas could stand, could talk, could walk, was recovering, wasn’t bleeding out on the floor, so he was okay.

Arthur wrapped one arm around Caroline as she hugged him, sinking into it a little and stroking her hair with his other hand. He would probably agree To just cuddle with her, he was personally a big fan of cuddling but they both seemed destined to not share their true thoughts with each other. “I should’ve at least sent a servant to tell you I wouldn’t be coming back” he murmured. “I….I don’t hold my liquor well” he admitted. “I fell asleep at Silas’. I’ll try not to let it happen again” he told her. “And sorry, I probably Smell terrible” he smiled a Little wryly. Caroline on the other hand smelt….she smelt like Her perfume and like fresh bedsheets, like warmth and everything else comforting. The morning sickness maybe lingered a little but Arthur didn’t care, his wife was wonderful.

He went to release her, figuring she‘d had enough and he still reeked of alcohol. “Do You have any plans for today?” He asked curiously. Old friends she wanted to speak to? Or maybe she had plans for both of them, places she wanted to take him and people to meet. Or maybe she just wanted to stay curled up in their room, or in the library, for surely they had one, with a book and a blanket? Maybe she wanted to go shopping, she seemed to enjoy that. Or, she could always come with him. Although obviously Caroline being there when he talked to Vere made things a bit more awkward but well, he wasn’t really sure Vere was Into him anyway, he didn’t want to be presumptuous or overly hopeful.

(just had a sad feeling over Arthur when writing that. He’s gonna feel like he can do better, should push to be better and that he’s never good enough for his father, or other people. But also I really feel like he’s going to enjoy Caroline as his wife. Like he loves her, as a friend, i Think he’s just going to think she‘s great, that she’s comfort to him, she’s home because she’s there for him, they’ll have a kid together and she seems to enjoy hugging and stuff as much as he Does)

(Aw, I do think Caroline loves Arthur as a friend as well. Though of course she wishes she could be with Lance. I could see them getting to a point where they talk to eachother about their fears and worries. And just comfort eachother.
I also think Arthur's going to be a adorable dad. I think even though Carolines baby is Lance's that Arthurs probable going to see her as his own and just adore her. )

Caroline couldn't help but feel herself relax slightly at the news of Silas. He was okay. Good. She then found herself smiling gently as Arthur talked. A small laugh coming from her. "Yes, Yes you do smell awful. " She teased gently. enjoying the hug. She was hardly surprised by the news that he struggled to hold his liquor. She couldn't really recall seeing him drink much before. Though if he continued hanging out with Silas he might begin drinking more. The young man did like to party from time to time!

Caroline then blinked at the question. Looking up at Arthur. She then told him. "I uh... I'd been planning to talk to a few old friends. " She did have a few ladies she often spoke with. It would be nice to see them again. But oh, She felt dreadful and wasn't sure she wanted them to see her. What if she got sick again while talking to them? That might be embarrassing. But would they be annoyed with her if she didn't speak to them? She didn't want anyone angry with her.

Caroline then pulled away from the hug. Promising. "I'll be sure to introduce you. Though I don't know how much you'd enjoy meeting them. " They were all rather frilly ladies. Though she had no doubt they'd all be interested in meeting Arthur! He was a handsome prince. Oh, That might be embarrassing too. She could already imagine the questions they might ask about him and the thought made her cheeks heat up. She could only hope things wouldn't get too awkward!

(Yeah, it'll be good that they can confide in each other. He’s going to love the baby, even if it isn’t his, because it’s Caroline’s and he loves her and he loves Lance too and he loves that they make each other happy so why wouldn’t he love this baby. He’s gonna be all protective to make sure no one notices she isn’t his. Also I really like this image of domesticity between Arthur and Caroline, I can just see him brushing her hair or something whilst she tells him about her day)

Caroline’s teasing was gentle and he felt a little knot of anxiety unfurl a little in his chest, relaxing at the strange easiness between them. He‘s always dreaded that his marriage would be so awkward and lacklustre and cold but Caroline was warm and bright and vibrant, he enjoyed when they could talk Easily to each other. She did have plans it seemed and he was glad she had friends because it didn’t seem like Silas had any but then again Caroline was certainly easier to get along with.

”any friends of yours, are friends of mine” he reassured her with a smile although yes he may not want to be present if they asked such probing questions, maybe he should tag along today though to try and prevent that? Luckily for Arthur, no one had inquired about his experience with Caroline. Knights did like to talk about such matters but they were aware of Arthur’s embarrassment about such subjects and how awkward he was likely to be, and they likely thought it was rude to ask such about a princess, not to mention the news about the drugging had likely quelled any other questions. Had it been anyone else, Arthur was almost sure Silas would tease and ask him but as it were, Silas was not going to ask such things about his sister. “Do you want me to come with you today?” He asked. “Obviously I’ll bathe first” he reassured her. “Or you can go alone if you prefer” he wanted to give her an out, she might prefer to catch up in private and he could understand that. At least if Arthur went and she felt sick he could console her or distract her friends.

”I can always spend time with the knights” and Vere, and Silas. Oh, maybe Arthur did have friends here. “Whenever I do meet them though, I’ll do my best not to embarrass you” he promised and his grin turned a little teasing. “for example I won’t complain about how loudly you snore or how you take all the blankets” It was maybe her friends she needed to watch out for though, they probably had some embarrassing stories about her they could tell Arthur, then again, some of the knights could pay back the Favour and do the same with Arthur. Then again, nothing was likely more embarrassing than this ordeal with Morgan. They were trying to keep the mood light though.

(Oh yeah, I think they're domestic life will end up being super sweet. Like if Arthur's overworking. Caroline will bring the kids to see him to give him a break. And like, The two getting to the point that they can just tell when the other is upset. And just comforting them.
I also imagine when their daughters get older, Arthur just can't bring himself to arrange a marriage because he doesn't want them to leave home. Not wanting his babies to leave the nest! )

Arthur seemed interested in joining her, And Caroline considered it for a moment. Oh, She just knew it would be embarrassing. She imagine they'd have endless questions for Arthur. But... If he stayed then they'd surely ask Caroline questions. The idea briefly made her blush. But she tried to rid the thought. Then Arthur continued and Caroline couldn't help the soft laugh that came from her. Finally she then smiled. "Alright, I guess you can join me. Though I doubt I'll be able to protect you from all the questions the girls will surely have. " She warned. There was only so much she could do!

Caroline then placed her hand on her chest, And teased. "Though you will certainly need a bath first. Else they might all think your a drunkard! " She warned. Best to make a good first impression. Sure, Caroline was friends with them and things would likely be casual. But they were all likely nobility. They'd be good allies to have! Caroline then moved to sit down on the bed as to allow Arthur to go to the bathroom.

Caroline figured the girls would probable be excited. He was a prince from a exotic different land! Caroline had certainly heard them gossip plenty about Arthur before she had left originally. Most were silly rumors. Ranging from him being a complete barbarian, To him being well... A prince charming. Of course, None had ever met him.

(Yeah I can see him being awkward about arranging a marriage, he doesn’t really think he should just basically sell them off and obviously one is Lance’s daughter so he feels it’s even more not his decision there. And he just loves family so he wants them all to stay together.)

So it seemed Arthur was going. It was only fair that he met her friends seeing as she’d met his although Arthur wasn’t going to hit it off with any of them the say way she’d hit it off with Lance. Probably for the best though. Arthur would like to think of himself as a bit more Prince Charming than barbarian but it’s not like he exactly swept Caroline off her feet, but he had instead gotten into a few fights. And he was sure she was right, that they’d have loads of questions, whether it be about him, their relationship or his kingdom. One thing which may be glaringly obvious though was that they weren’t in love. Maybe no one expected it of them but they at least expected them to be a bit more affectionate. Others had certainly noticed it before, even if they hadn’t mentioned it to the pair themselves. They didn’t really kiss often, they didn’t touch a lot either, Caroline rarely sat on his lap and they clearly could keep their hands off each other.

“I will clean up at once” he promised, going to flag down a servant for some bath water. He guessed he’d need to wear fancy clothes as well, even if he preferred more functional attire than those made for preening. Once the bath was drawn, Arthur wasted no time in scrubbing himself clean. He briefly wondered what it might’ve been like had he been in love with Caroline, or at least attracted to her. He could’ve invited her into the bath, much like Silas had done to him, spent a little time relaxing together. He’d had a bath with Ethan but he couldn’t imagine sharing one with Caroline would be as easy, instead it’d probably be awkward, even if they’d seen everything before, it’s not like they’d be exchanging gentle kisses and warm touches. Arthur was soon enough finished with the bath and climbed out, wrapping himself in a towel. Maybe he should get Caroline to pick his clothes so he didn’t embarrass her? No, he was perfectly capable of it, he just had to pick the clothes he liked the least.

So, Arthur made his way to their drawers, doing his best not to drip water everywhere. “What time do we leave?” He asked her curiously. If it wasn’t for a little while then he could still go check on Vere, although if not he could see how he was doing after they returned. He probably wouldn’t be spending loads of time with Silas though, might be a bit weird to invite him along to Caroline’s meet-up with her friends. Unless they were his friends too? unlikely, Silas was a bit too lonely for that in his opinion. Arthur dried off and pulled on his clothes and it still felt weird to change in front of a lady but he’d changed in front of knights plenty of times so he was sure he’d get used to it. “how do I look?” He asked Caroline. His trousers were well fitted and his top seemed luxuries and expensive, he probably looked far more princely than usual when he was dressed in more clothes suitable for training or some sort of exercise.

(I can imagine him marrying them to knights in his court! Because he doesn't want them to go far away and he has to know someone really well before he'll allow them to marry one of his little girls!
I like to imagine one of the girls constantly follows him around when she's little, Asking him to teach her how to be a knight. Because she wants to be just like him when she grows up! )

Caroline and Arthur hardly gave off the vibe of a couple on there honeymoon. Especially when one compared them to someone like Caleb and Agravain. Those two seemed as though they were never going to settle down. Caroline and Arthur were obviously friends, But their was no spark between them. At times it almost seemed awkward. But if anyone had noticed, Caroline had not heard someone say. Laying back on the bed, Caroline sat quietly as she awaited her husband. Enjoying the brief moment of rest. But he was soon returning and well... Caroline had seen everything. But she still found her cheeks turning a slight shade of red. Glancing away in hopes to give Arthur a little bit of privacy.

Luckily it didn't take him long to get dressed and Caroline was a bit surprised by his choice of attire. Rarely did she see him dressed fancy. He clearly wanted to make a good impression. But it was a little odd to see. Still, His effort was cute and Caroline was smiling. Moving to her feet and quietly walking over. Reaching forward. She carefully adjust his shirt a bit, Making sure no wrinkles showed before looking up at him. Musing. "Very handsome. The girls might fall head over heels for you. I fear they might try to kidnap you! " She teased. Hopefully the ladies would behave themselves. She half expected them to flirt as to just mess with the young couple!

Caroline then told him. "Well, I suppose you can choose when to leave. One of the ladies is currently residing in the castle. We could go meet her. Or we could wait for the others to arrive before joining them. " She doubt it would take the girls too long to arrive. They were likely excited to see her just as much as she wanted to see them. But if Arthur wished he could probable go visit Vere before meeting up with them.

(Yeah if he marries them off to knights then at least he can get Lance’s approval for his daughter and also not split the family up. I feel like the second daughter would be more into being a knight, I remember us saying she’s probably going to be favoured by Alexander and he’ll probably teach her how to fight, although I can see both girls maybe learning a bit because Lance is going to teach his daughter he has with the assassin lady)

Caroline seemed approving which was good, hopefully her friends would agree. She was joking about him being kidnapped, well….he hoped it was a joke. He was starting to feel a little nervous actually. What do they didn’t like him? Or thought he was treating Caroline badly? He supposed it wouldn’t actually affect much except they wouldn’t hang around him, but it was in Arthur’s nature to seek a bit of approval. And it seemed that he didn’t have to meet them right this second. “Can we wait a little while?” He asked. “I wanted to make sure everyone’s settled in okay” he admitted. And well, she was letting him come with her so…”you can join me if you’d like?“ Although perhaps she would prefer to rest until then or neaten herself up so she looked a little less ill, althiugh Arthur had better sense than to say that to her.

”or you can meet up with your friend and I’ll join you later?” maybe she would like a few moments alone with her friends without her husband present. He understood that there was still awkwardness between them, that they weren’t always truly themselves around each other. Things were definitely getting better but Arthur was well aware he still wasn’t being totally truthful with her. He wasn’t actually sure Caroline had liked too many of their companions on the way here. At the start she’d been a bit put out by Percival being bossy about them running off, Galehaut and her likely hadn’t talked much and she might’ve been put off by his shouting match with Lance, she didn’t exactly see Kay as a friend seeing as he was a slave and Arthur figured she probably only tolerated Vere because of him.

“I can only hope these friends of yours like me more than your ladies” he mused and well, that probably wouldn’t be difficult to beat. Even with Caroline pregnant he was sure the oldest one would not want to talk to him besides a few angry statements. Then again, he supposed he hadn’t tried too hard to patch up Their relationship. Maybe he should buy her something nice? Or was that weird? She was like a mother hen to Caroline though, her approval would be nice.

(I'm also really excited to see Gavin and Lance get together. I feel like it could be really interesting. Also when Gavin tells Lance she forgives him it could be really sweet. )

Caroline couldn't find herself surprised Arthur wanted to check on the others. He probable hadn't seen them since yesterday. Some of the knights seemed relatively close. Though Caroline knew Arthur likely wanted to check on Kay and Vere as well. So she then nodded her head. "Of course. I don't expect the girls to arrive for atleast another hour or so. " It was still early after all. Caroline then paused at the question. But Caroline figured she'd rather stay in her room for the moment. She was aware she likely looked awful and could spend some time working on her makeup. Or maybe get a little extra sleep!

Caroline thus said. "I think I'll stay here for a little while longer and get ready. " Though she doubt she'd be long. Thus she'd probable meet with her ladies before Arthur was finished. So she then told him. "But, If I'm gone by the time you get back. We'll probable be meeting in the dining room. " She promised. She knew some of the girls were fond of tea. It was also a bit too chilly for anyone to want to venture outside. Thus it probable wouldn't be too difficult to find them!

A soft laugh came from her. Shaking her head as she mused. "Oh, My ladies are just protective. Don't worry, If they don't like you I promise I'll protect you. " She informed. She wouldn't let them mess with him! Though... Even if they did not care for him, They'd be civil. The most he had to worry about was them getting a little passive aggressive. But he was tough! He could probable handle it. Caroline then tilted her head to the side. Asking him. "Do you think you'll be okay navigating the castle? I don't want you to get lost. " She said playfully. He wasn't used to the place yet afterall!

(Yeah me too, I think Lance is going to be quite freaked out at first though like he doesn’t really get what’s going on between them. Also I just realised they’re both parents of kids with G names!)

Oh good, Arthur would have time to visit his friends. And Caroline wouldn’t be tagging along so that meant he didn't have to worry about including her too much. He figured he’d be able to find his way back to the dining room easily enough and if not a servant would certainly know the way. And at least he could rely on Caroline to be there for him so that was nice and he smiled gently. She did make a good point though. “I’ve got to learn my way around here” he replied but yeah…he might get lost. Still, Gawain had told him to reach out and ask for help when he needed it. Maybe Silas would find him and show him the way?

“I’ll be fine” he reassured her. “I’ll catch up with you in a bit” he promised before going to make his way out of their room and….no, he actually had no idea where the knights would be so yeah, his journey had been cut short very quickly. Well…what was he supposed to do now? Would Vere even be with the knights? probably but that wasn’t for certain. Well, he could always work his way back to Silas and ask him to escort him but he didn’t want to bother Silas, he might still be soaking in the bath to try and ease his bruising. If Silas wanted to join him then he would. Instead Arthur managed to intercept a passing servant and ask for directions towards where his friends were.

And so Arthur set off towards them, although he was sure his attire might earn him a few teasing comments from the knights should they see him. Was Vere even still in the castle or had he done a runner, scared that they might turn him back over to his parents and leave him there to be locked away for the rest of his days. Arthur hoped he was still about, they could make a plan about how to talk to his parents, how to keep him free.

(To be fair, There are a lot of G named characters in this thread! We're gonna need to think up more G names for Agravain's kids. )

It didn't take long before Arthur was setting out to find the knights. Of course the men had been given their own rooms. But they were put relatively in the same area. Some still rested- The journey here had been tiring and they probable were over joyed to sleep in a bed. Others already awake. Vere wasn't really a knight, But he had also been put in around the same area. Probable so the men could keep a eye on him better. Not that it had worked too much. Anxiety was building in Vere. Fears of returning home having kept him awake. He couldn't go back to that misery.

So Vere had gathered what little items he had, And left his room. Plans already running threw his mind. Going out the front door felt risky, He could possible consider going out a window. He'd climbed in and out of them before with relatively little problem. Though in the morning light there was a good chance he'd be spotted.
Engulfed in his thoughts. He didn't notice Arthur in the hallway. Not at first anyway. But eventually he heard the sound of footsteps. Alarm quickly running threw his mind.

Turning his head, He nearly jumped at the sight of Arthur. Eyes a bit wide and well... Vere didn't have many items. So there was a decent chance Arthur didn't realize what he had been up to. Except, Vere was certain he was caught and feeling the need to defend himself. He squeaked. "I wasn't planning to go out the window! " Averting his eyes in embarrassment.

(Yeah like George or something, hopefully we don’t run out of names!)

Arthur turned the corner and spotted Vere, he seemed lost in thought and Arthur smiled fondly before Vere spun and revealed he’d been planning to run away. Without even a goodbye? Well that hurt! “Uh huh” Arthur replied, clearly not believing him and stepping closer. ”do you not believe that I will defend you?” Arthur asked. “You're parents don’t even know you're here, there’s no Need to run” he pointed out. Couldn’t he just enjoy a little warmth and safety for a while? Oh, Arthur was going to worry about him, he wanted him to stay but he knew that he couldn’t keep an eye on Vere all the time nor did he want to be a prison warden.

“I came here to check on you” he admitted. “To see how you’re settling in and I’m glad I did otherwise I fear you might not have said goodbye” Was he guiltripping Vere? Was he meaning to? It was true what Arthur was saying but that didn’t mean it wasn't a little manipulative. “I’m not going to stop you if you’re so desperate to leave but can we not at least try reasoning with your parents first?” he asked.

”If they do try to lock you up, which I will do my best to stop, then I will help you breakout again” he promised, maybe he’d need Silas’ help with that though, Arthur wasn’t exactly adept at sneaking in and out of places, had never needed to be. “Until then, why not enjoy being fed and warm? Maybe try and pick up a few weapon skills” he suggested, honestly, Vere really should know how to hunt and defend himself, it was dangerous out there.

(Lol, Agravain might have to name his kid a different letter! The horror! )

Vere could practically feel the disappointment radiating off Arthur. Kept his gaze firmly down to the ground. Arthur's words making him shift uncomfortable and feeling very much like a child right now. "I-I... " He stuttered. Oh, Arthur was making him feel bad. Cheeks red. He then found himself whimpering. "I just... I can't go back... I can't keep living like that.. " Confined. He hated it. Sure his parents had the best intentions for him. But he feared if they got ahold of him again without him having proved himself... Well, He'd never escape again.

But then Arthur kept talking. His words making Vere's eyes go a bit wide as he looked up at him. "You... You will? You promise? " Arthur would help him escape? That clearly took Vere by surprise and at first he didn't know what to do with that information. It felt like a lot. But in the end a smile grew on his face and he lifted his hand. Wiping his eyes off on his sleeve. They had gotten a bit teary in his panic. But feelings of fear and dread were quickly replaced by relief.

Vere then gave Arthur a firm nod. "Yeah, That... That sounds good. " He confessed. Vere had little training, That was obvious. Though, As helpless as Vere seemed sometimes. He was clearly relatively capable, Or maybe simply lucky. He had survived alone for a decent time. Even after his sheltered life. Something that certainly confused the knights that traveled with him. Vere didn't know how to hunt, Barely knew which side the pointy end of a sword was, Had no ability to navigate.
Yeah, It was probable just sheer luck.

Arthur sympathised, no one wanted to be locked up and Arthur could relate, he’d never been allowed to go far himself, sheltered at home although this was far more extreme in the case of Vere but Arthur might see what that was like over the coming months as he was confined to the castle. Evidently there was still a way for Arthur to get out though. Arthur didn’t intend for Vere to be locked away for the rest of his life, not if he could help it, but Arthur may not do well in convincing Vere’s parents. He didn't perceive himself as being silver-tongued, just polite.

Arthur smiled at Vere as he seemed to settle somewhat. “Good” he agreed. “It’s up to you when we go” he offered. “If you want to get it over and done with, we can try and go this week” Maybe even tomorrow although ere might want more time to prepare. ”or we can go after a month or two?” Give Vere time to learn some skills but still stay safe in the meantime. And oh…would Vere be leaving once they convinced his parents? Arthur didn’t really want to split from Vere so soon, he liked him and wanted him to stay safe but he knew Vere wanted to go on plenty of adventures.

”I mentioned you to Silas” he admitted and he wondered if Vere found that odd, they’d only been here a day and already Arthur was discussing him. “He might be able to help” he suggested. “At least give us ideas on what we could say” Silas was good with words, smart, and a bit sly as well, this seemed like something he could be good at. And Silas had said he’d never met Vere, at least not to his knowledge, only met a brother of his. “I’ll introduce you” Arthur offered, it’d be good for Vere to know people in high places, especially in his own kingdom. It was all well and good knowing the knights that had travelled with them but that might not impress his parents as much as knowing the crown prince, or well, two.

Vere was obviously calmer with Arthur's promise to help him. Bouncing on his heels a little in excitement. He paused though at the next part. Tensing at the mention of going within the week. Yeah, No. He wanted to put it off as long as he could. Sure, He had to face his parents eventually and it would be better on his own terms. But it was still intimidating. So he then said. "I uh... I'd rather wait a bit. " A month or two felt nice! Though Vere had a feeling he'd dread each passing day.

Vere blinked a bit in surprise at the mention of Silas. He'd been talking about him? So soon? It felt odd to think about. He had no doubt the princes had a lot to be discussing. Though Silas didn't really know exactly what royalty spoke about. It felt odd he had already been mentioned. Vere of course had never met Silas. He knew he was his prince. Had heard him spoken of plenty. But never met him and maybe that was also a bit intimidating. But in the end he nodded. "Yeah, Thats a good idea! " He started. The prince knew his way around nobles. Would know what to do.

Vere then reached forward to gently take Arthur's hand. Murmuring gently. "Arthur... Thank you. For everything. " It was nice to have him on his side. Things just felt so much less intimidating. He then glanced around before asking. "Do we go find prince Silas now? Or... " Silas might still be in his room. The two could also go and get breakfast. Vere surely hadn't eaten yet. Which- really. If he had been planning to sneak out. Vere probable should have packed some food and such. He hadn't been planning to bring really anything!

Arthur wasn’t too surprised that Vere would rather put it off and at least it gave them more time to form a game plan. Arthur had only just arrived here, he wasn’t used to this kingdom nor did he know what to expect from Vere’s parents so he could do some preparation in the mean time. He didn’t want to screw this up, no…he couldn’t screw this up. Vere was depending on him. And oh… Arthur’s fingers tingled as Vere touched them, a warmth settling in his hand as Vere held it. Arthur glanced down at the union before he looked back towards Vere, feeling a bit more flushed and awkward at the feeling of butterflies in his stomach.

He nodded. “Yeah, hopefully he’s easy to find” Arthur agreed, voiced soft. He couldn’t imagine Silas had gone far from his room if he’d left at all. He figured Silas might still be in his bathtub or maybe he crawled back into bed? They could find him and then always grab something to eat together, or he could leave Vere and Silas to get to know each other, as long as Silas played nice, although Caroline had said she was meeting her ladies in the dining room so they might all end up converging.

Arthur offered Vere and smile and went to lead him towards Silas’ room. He was slightly apprehensive about the two meeting, Silas wasn’t always the kindest but he was friends with both of them, he’d do his best to help them get along. Although, he did figure he would get some teasing from Silas about his taste in men or something. Silas was good at reading people though, maybe he’d be able to tell what Vere felt about him? Maybe that was putting too much pressure and expectation on it though. Arthur went to knock on the door before pushing it open and calling Silas’ name to alert him of who it was, although he might not even be in his room. And of course he had his cheetah but Arthur hadn’t seemed to bother the cheetah last time and she seemed tame enough, hopefully she’d remain so.

Vere was happy to follow closely behind Arthur. Stomach twisting in slight anticipation. This could very well be his way to escape his parents. If he had two princes backing him... But Vere had never met Silas before and thus stuck close to Arthur. Peering inside behind Arthur, And oh! Was that a dog? Vere hadn't seen a dog with spots like that- Wait, Nope. That was a cat. A very big cat. Its ear flicked at the sound of the door opening. But other then that it paid the men little attention. Still. Vere stuck close to Arthur.

Then, He heard prince Silas's voice coming from the bathroom. "Miss me already? " He was saying. Stepping out with a towel around his waste. Pausing a bit in surprise at the sight of Vere. Oh- Silas was sure he'd never met Vere before. But his features were familiar enough. Yes, He had a good idea of who his family was now. Vere seemed a bit startled by Silas being in just a towel. And seemed to glance away as to preserve the others modesty. Though Vere did take note of the bruises on Silas's skin. Still, A gentle laugh came from Silas. "Didn't expect you to bring a date along. " Which caused Vere to tense up. Memories of the two's kiss causing his cheeks to heat up. But Silas seemed to only be joking. He couldn't know about that after all!

Silas never cared much for covering up. So barely paid attention to them as he got dressed. Instead only briefly looking towards Arthur and wrinkling his nose. Informing him. "That outfit... Doesn't fit you. The more laid back rugged style fits you better. " Around here, Arthur probable was going to be forced to dress nicer more often. But Silas still did not approve. Finally finishing putting on his clothes. He looked towards his Cheetah and softly urged. "C'mon old girl. I imagine your ready to get some food. " At that the Cheetah's ears lazily perked up. Then she was rising to her feet and briefly stretching. A large yawn coming from the cat. Seemed the Cheetah knew very well what food ment. See, They could all get breakfast together! Vere did move a little closer to Arthur as the cat approached.

Arthur wasn’t surprised to see Silas in only a towel and he’d certainly seen the other prince in a much more compromising situation, plus Silas really didn’t have much shame. So, Arthur was a little more relaxed about not averting his eyes, even if he had been rather awkward the first time Silas had been so bare in front of him. Arthur blushed slightly at the teasing but otherwise remained composed. Maybe he shouldn’t have told Silas about the kisses, kept them just between him and Vere, but he’d been happy to share, to let someone else know. Still, it might’ve been nice to tell Vere Silas knew but then again that would be an awkward conversation. Again, he’d literally only been here a day and he’d already spilled about the kisses to Silas? Vere might not be pleased with him and find it quite odd.

Arthur frowned slightly and looked down at himself with the tiniest pout. He would’ve thought Silas would approve, even if still tease him for it, this attire was smarter, what was more expected of him. “Caroline said I looked fine” he complained, smoothing down his shirt. Honestly, seemed he couldn’t pleased everyone in the castle. He did sort of like that Silas preferred his usual attire, made him feel like preening a bit. Arthur tamped down such thoughts though, deciding to focus a bit less on himself and let his hand reach out to touch Vere and hopefully reassure him. Hopefully neither of them would be eaten by the cheetah.

”I told Vere you might be able to help me with regards to keeping him free and his parents” Arthur mentioned to Silas. “Although we’re not confronting them for a while so there’s plenty of time for you to teach me how to be so pushy” and he did want Silas’ help but it was clear he was being playful there. “Besides, you two becoming friends could help you both” he reminded them. Vere could do with friends in high places and Silas could just do with…well, friends. “Speaking of, Caroline’s going to introduce me to her friends, any advice?” And that was aimed far more at Silas, but Vere was welcome to chime in.

Silas tilted his head to the side as Arthur spoke. Looking in Vere's direction lazily before a soft laugh came from him. "Arthur, I don't think you're capable of being pushy. " No, Arthur was a bit too soft for that. He did raise his eyebrow at the mention of being friends. That... He was uncertain about. Sure, Vere looked like a good kid. But the young man must be a touch nervous. As he had yet to speak up. They'd just have to wait and see it seemed. But Silas then assured. "Don't worry. I've met your family before. We'll handle them. " He promised Vere. Perhaps to just help with the others nerves. Then again, He might not be nervous from being near Silas. It was entirely possible he was just intimidated by the cheetah.

Silas then was looking towards Arthur. Giving the other a sharp grin. "Oh? Well, Be careful and don't let any of them girls take a bite out of you. " He joked. Silas imagined such would be a rather interesting experience. Had Arthur ever spent much time around girls? Besides his wife, Mother, And Morgan? Silas imagined the man spent most of his time with the knights. But Silas couldn't see anything going to badly. Whats the worst that could happen?

Silas then told Arthur. "Don't worry, The biggest worry you should have is them asking you a dozen questions. They're all fairly harmless. " Arthur was a good guy. Surely he couldn't mess up too badly with them! He just needed to be polite. The girls probable would all be endeared by him already just from him being a foreign prince. He was a knight in shining armor! How could they not like him? Silas was then moving past Arthur and Vere. Opening the door to his room and watching as his Cheetah prowled outside. Silas then nodded his head to urge the other two men to follow.
