Fantasy Hunter's Moon: The Sin & Sentence [IC] [CLOSED]

"Someone must be getting cranky. I haven't seen you stuffing a heart or limb into your maw yet." Hudson said, nearly drawing his sword as he turned to face her completely. "Want me to feed you with your own?"

“Didn’t think you believed we had hearts, Hudson.” she says, climbing back into the truck.

Through out all these events, Jakob had become quiet. Often standing near Riberta, or with the other members who did not speak often such as Wesley and Anya. The truth is that after fighting his shadow, Jakob only had brooding and ill thoughts. Almost as if the beast inside him was trying to get out after all these years of being contained. Nearly everyone in the group tested his patience and his resolve. He'd never been more disgusted by a living person than Inari, and was constantly hoping she'd fall to the enemy. And even Hudson, who he did see as a friend in this infernal abyss, angered him with his irrational behavior. But who was he to judge? He was becoming irrational as well.

But then, after Tariun and Kassidy had to endure through Hudson's eternal anger, he began to calm down. Almost as if something inside resonated with the beast inside. And after Vincent's stomach-churning revelation, Jakob began to regain some of his emotions. He was disappointed in Vincent, but decided to not say anything to the hunter. He decided it was best to approach Tariun now, who had been quiet after Hudson's rants.

"Tariun, can I have a word with you?" said Jakob, while slowly approaching the demon. "I'll be honest with you, and while I hope you take this well, I'll understand if you are upset by my words." He took a deep breath before continuing. "I don't want to help you. But do not mistake my lack of conviction to your cause as something born out of hate. Unlike Hudson... I do believe that even the denizens of the Abyss can repent. You have proved it... but..."

Jakob looked down for a moment before looking back at the others, he was trying to find the words. "...This is not my fight, Tariun... and I understand what Hudson is saying. You are sending a group of mortals to do your insurrection. Your fight. Back in that rail hub, we almost lost three of our people. I understand that this might save hundreds of lives in the Abyss, but this... it does not help us and our mission. This is not my home or my land. And as extraordinary as some of our group might be, we are still from another plane and we can die like the others."

"You might see this is a the talk of a selfish person. I understand that. But let me ask you this..." He leaned a bit closer, looking at the redeemed demon right in the eyes. "...And I expect your most sincere answer. What if the situation was inversed? What if the fate of your plane lies in the mortal realm, but its being held by a mortal leader. Would you actually sacrifice time and resources helping us taking down tyrants? Dealing with the woes of mortal beings?"

"...I've been sticking my neck out for the last 800 or so years, doing all I can to help those in need, especially those in the majority, the humans. Falter I will not despite many setbacks, and if we leave alive, I'll continue to stick my neck out for the next 800 years, and more," Takato responded to Hudson, before turning to Senya and bowing, as to apologize for the intrusion.

For how long they were to stay in the Abyss, this period was going to be the hardest in his life. Harder than the period after his master's death, after the burning of his home, after his ostracization, harder than all those. But for many others in the group, it was likely going to be much harder for them. Hudson, whether he likes it or not, was, and is, going to have his beliefs challenged, and whether his stubbornness wins out all depends on how flexible he proves himself to be in the face of it all - proven he can do mental gymnastics based on the pillars of past experiences. Either he comes out stronger with his prejudices confirmed, he comes out stronger with his prejudices altered, or he dies the death he seeks, the last option being a non-option given Riberta's words. He can only hope its the middle option that wins out.

As it seemed the conversation was going to return to being primarily between Senya and Hudson, Loque and Venextos return... and the former cussed Hudson out. Takato could only grimace...

"You breathe, don't you? A soul and morals is all that you lack, creature." he spat to her, finally turning back to the rest of the group as Takato got a few more words in. Of course they fell on deaf ears yet again, the hunter caring not just how long the demon has been deluding itself. He looked to see Jakob approach Tariun's projection, though he could not hear what he was saying to her. For the time being he merely stood there awkwardly.

Tariun looked up and listened to Jakob as he spoke, remaining silent as he informed her that he wished not to help her in this endeavor. And once his question arrived, that if the situation were reversed and their fate lay in the mortal realm, would she bother helping humanity against tyrants. She stood there, staring at the lycan detective for a few moments. Finally, she spoke. "Yes. I would." she replied, her tone serious. "...It seems none of you can understand the gravity of this situation down here...And likely will never understand it. What happens here affects your mortal realm. If the Icons are not weakened, and Taranoch gets his hands on the artifacts, then you will experience a second Age of Darkness in your realm...and it will be far worse than the first. Total subjugation, instead of simple chaos. Your gods will perish, and any new ones that appear will be hunted and annihilated. Taranoch will be your only god."

She sighed, looking back to the ground. "...Adriel forgive us." she muttered to herself. And a moment later, her spectral form faded away, leaving Jakob standing there near Kassidy. Kassidy folded her arms, glaring at Jakob. "...Nice going." she simply said.

Henderson looked towards Jacob, his hands on his hips.
"Now." he started, as calmly as possible for him "Why did you think that was the right thing to say?"

Gods help us... was all Venextos could think when Tauriel shimmered away, leaving the group to be alone. Have we truly been abandoned now?

The wizard was silent as he pondered what to do now, or what the group would even do now in this situation.

"Good riddance." Hudson announced as the form of Tariun faded away. "Obvious where her true loyalties lie. If she were half as much as the paragon of good she pretends to be she could tolerate a few mean words from her subordinates."

"If she won't provide us with a plan, we'll make one of our own." the hunter continues, looking to Kassidy. "You. Tell us what you know about where we're going. If you've got some way to sneak us in I suggest telling us that too."

"I ain't telling you jack shit." said Kassidy, glaring at Hudson. "So go fuck yerself."

Vincent finally spoke up. "Hudson, you're going to get us all killed. Not because we deserve it, but because you're the densest motherfucker I've ever seen." he stated aloud. He then looked to Jakob. "...I'll talk to Tariun later. We need help here, regardless of what my 'compatriot' in the other Order believes." He then looked to Kassidy. "...Please, tell us how we're getting into the capital."

Kassidy was silent for a few moments, looking to Vincent, before sighing. "...I have ta sneak ya in like yer one of my prisoners. The other succubi and incubi won't bother ya if they think yer already claimed. I'm behind on mah quota with Thelyra, so its a perfect cover." she explained, shifting her stance. "I bring ya to my place, and you can plan out things there. I got a theory in mind where I can sneak ya into the palace to see Thelyra, but its really risky."

Loque would be crying at this moment if what happened earlier didn’t leave her feeling so numb. “Venextos.” she speaks to him. “Would you like to go back to the rocks with me?”

Senya stood and nodded, "Then we might as well take that chance. Vincent is the leader in all of this." Senya crossed her arms waiting for the next plan of action.

Venextos was about to explode onto Hudson with another anger-laced rant towards the parasite dragging the group down, but was stopped by Loque's request and only nodded his head. The two of them went back to the rocks once more: "I take it you don't like Kassidy's plan."

As Tariun vanished, Jakob simply sighed and looked down. Disappointed in the ascended being not letting him continue asking his questions. Kassidy was quick to glare and judge at his actions, and he nodded along while Henderson asked what he was doing. "...I could have worded myself better. While her answer was sincere, I feel like she does not understand the complexity of mortal affairs." He went silent for a minute. "...I don't understand demon politics either but..." He went silent, saddened that this were now even more complicated. Maybe he shouldn't have said a damn thing, but he wanted to let his concerns known.

Loque’s not as shaky as she was earlier. Instead, her posture has her slumped forward and her head bowed, not a whole lot of life seemingly left in her.

“I don’t like any of this at all. And I imagine I’m not the only one either.”

"If you care so much about yourselves, cast me out then. I'm only still here because that monster is hellbent on keeping me alive to spite me." Hudson said with frustration, not even listening to what Kassidy's plan was now that both she and Vincent spoiled things.

"Call me dense, but I'm not going to be kept in the dark or led astray by manipulative demons who don't give a shit about any of us."

"Merde... but we have no other recourse it seems..." Venextos thought as he paced around quickly. He was filled with many emotions currently, and trying to get a sense of this mess that Hudson had created for the group. He was cursing the narrow-minded hunter under his breath as he walked around, trying to think.

"If you care so much about yourselves, cast me out then. I'm only still here because that monster is hellbent on keeping me alive to spite me...Call me dense, but I'm not going to be kept in the dark or led astray by manipulative demons who don't give a shit about any of us."

"Oh. Okay."

A moment later, Vincent turned about. His expression was one of anger. "Leave."

“Hey...” starts Loque. “Do you remember when we all met eachother at the door? Remember how we all were when we first met?”

Venextos didn't know what to say to that, he could only stare at Loque for a few moments before looking down to the ground. "I don't know... it's not a possibility I would like to entertain."

...I don't understand demon politics either but...
"Mhm." The large man's glare looked away from Jacob and back to Kass. Well meaning, but stupid. Her plan wasn't the best, but it's all they had right now to seemingly avoid getting slaughtered and played with. Unless Hudson had any alternative to...

Call me dense, but I'm not going to be kept in the dark or led astray by manipulative demons who don't give a shit about any of us.
"Instead you're following the will of an armored bitch, manipulating your anger while pretending she cares about you. Brilliant!" He spat out. The hunter was trying to justify himself at every step of the way with the same stupid reasoning as any of his zealous kind. Looks like Vincent had enough of him as well. Now he surprised Henderson.

"I don't know... it's not a possibility I would like to entertain."
“Look at us... Every second we’re at each others throats. Every moment we’re ready to rip eachother apart. I think Velin wants us to do that. I think... she wants us to die.”
