Fantasy Hunter's Moon: The Sin & Sentence [IC] [CLOSED]

"Hold it!" Henderson spoke to the group. "That smell...Oh....I get it now." He paced quicker than the rest, eventually overtaking Senya at the head of the group. His face contorting from a snarl to a smile as his mind raced at the possibilities of the realization. He even neglected to take off his coat.

High above, Takato could make out the possible culprits. A side entrance had a group of demons slowly walking outside and inside. They were...shambling. Some of them were empty handed, but others carried with them boxes. Upon closer inspection Takato would see that the boxes contained jars of some sort. The contents were a mystery only he could guess at, while others carried what looked like bones and severed limbs. The laborers didn't seem that lively either. Besides their slow pace, their faces were blank, some drooling. One was missing his lower jaw, another had his eye hanging from it's socket. The realization of their true nature came when the collective smell would hit him as he flew just a little too close. It was the smell of death and decay. These demons were long dead and their remains now served a new master.

Back inside the cavern Henderson kept going, not even looking if the others were following. The darkness gave way to another light source eventually. Deep inside candles and lanterns formed a path he would follow. As if guided by them. He slowed his pace he began to hear chanting deeper in the cavern. The smell of his prey now mixed by that of rotten flesh. His smile now a full grin as he got near.

"My better half has been practicing has he?" Henderson gloated "Very impressive thing that with the field gun. But you could have just come outright and we could have been done days ago. Now me and the poor sods I came with have to figure out what to do after we're done with you." The brute walked into a more spacious part of the cavern. The trail of light eventually leading him here. Right where he wanted him to be. More corpses littered the area. Some intact, some missing pieces of them. Some looked gnawed on. The middle had several pools of blood coagulating with a skull placed in them. "Did I interrupt something?" He said as he got closer to the middle.

"No, beast." A figure stepped from out of the shadows from the other side of the cavern. "This was prepared for you." Despite the coat, wig and beaked mask, Henderson could recognize who this was. "As for your 'friends'." The demon raised his hand in a horned fashion pointing towards several of the corpses. A sickly green smoke began to escape from their open mouth, eye sockets and wounds. It formed itself into a cloud that smelled of rot as it lingered near the entrance of the cavern. "The miasma wont stop them, I don't think I would be that lucky. But its toxicity should slow them down enough."

"Little Eddie has finally come out to play then." Henderson mocked "So the shadow version of me is a runt who thinks he's a expert necromancer? I'm a little disappointed to tell you the truth."

"Oh, that one?" The shadow demon tilted it's head slightly and placed finger under it's beak "Oh no, he died long ago. I met him when he came down here once he passed through and I had my fill." The creature then motioned with it's hand and another figure stepped out the shadows, one much bigger and more familiar to Henderson. The other demon began to snicker with glee "I gave in to my vanity and learned an illusion spell just so I could do that. You understand."

"Oh I know you, you vain little pervert!" Henderson stepped closer "So I guess I'll have this big one to fight instead. So what's my shadow version then? A mouthbreather?"

"Me...kill...you..."

"It was a jest." Henderson replied to his shadow version in a dry tone "Adona's balls, you simple minded creature, putting you out of my misery would do the Abyss a fucking service." He moved his head in order to get his neck to pop "Come on then, I expect you want to take a piece of me." he then pointed towards the other demon "You, I will take care off too. Don't worry."

"I'm not worried." The demon pulled back it's robe to reveal it was holding something in it's left hand. "You're still a man of science and knowledge, so tell me, do you know what this is?" He showed the object in his hand.

"A doll?" Henderson narrowed his eyes and smelled the air " Smells of blood. You are one creepy wanker, you know that?"

"Dipped in blood." The demon tilted his head towards the shadow version of Henderson "His blood to be precise. Tell me. On the way here, did you experience any mild prickling feeling?"

"Do you plan to make sense anytime soon or am I going to have to AAAAAAAARRRRHHHGGGG!" He screamed as something stabbed at him directly in the spine. Henderson looked towards the shadow demon and saw that he had stabbed the doll

"Did you know that voodoo magic is practically a cousin of blood magic? And that a perfect physical duplicate's blood can still be used as replacement? That was my hypothesis at last." The demon chuckled "It appears I was right." The other shadow version began to growl in pain "Ah, I'm sorry about that. After this you'll get a double helping." It's attention was turned towards Henderson again "Truth is, as much as I want to see you taken down. I also want to have some fun." Another stab "You damned Edward and me to a century in the Abyss!" And again "You robbed me of what is rightfully mine!" One more stab that managed to bring Henderson down to one knee "I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A LICH BY NOW YOU ROTTEN BASTARD!"

"Bollocks to you then..." Henderson spat out and smiled before he felt another stab

Seriphine didn't spend much thought on the field gun though that was mostly because she didn't understand the concept of what a field gun was or what it did. Judging by the others however the loss of it, alongside the allied demons that brought it and its ammunition to the island, was deeply concerning. Seriphine had no comments to make and as such she simply remained silent and listened to the others and what they had to say.

Upon arriving at the island she studied the corpses momentarily before advancing inwards alongside the rest of the party. Henderson in particular seemed eager to move further which bothered Seriphine deeply as it was very much outside of his usual behavior- which probably didn't mean anything good.

Her fears came true when a thick green smoke filled the entire cave entrance, shrouding Henderson's silhouette as he delved further into the cave.

Coughing, a narrow-eyed Seriphine looked at the smoke before glancing at the others. "What shall we do? We cannot let Henderson walk into that place on his own."

Up above, Takato continued to scout, before spotting a smaller entrance on the side of the volcano. It appeared that there were demons moving in and out... though their motions weren't entirely reassuring. The way they shambled was reminiscent to the stiff hopping of traditional jiangshi, those with a fulu talisman attached to their foreheads (unlike the more common and liberated kyonshi) than to the shambling of the elderly. In fact, if there was any group he could parallel it to, it would be the diseased and their kind of shambling.

Though some were empty handed, others carried a variety of things - boxes with what seemed to be jars, others having bones and severed limbs, it was odd to say the least. As he approached closer to examine them, it became clear what they were - they were beyond diseased, they were undead themselves. Their smell was akin to those kyonshi that had been born long after the decease of their body. However, despite being close enough that they could probably turn their heads and notice him, they didn't move an inch, continuing on as if there wasn't someone there who could work on dealing with them. They'd be more... proactive against any living. Was the use of supernatural arts at play here?

As he looked over to the group as to report back, he just barely witnessed Henderson running into one of the caves. As he flew back to the others, the entrance had filled with a thick green smoke. Overhearing Seri, Takato looked worried, but reported his findings.

"There's a side entrance where what appear to be undead demons are doing... something. What it is they are doing is a mystery, but some appear to be moving boxes, others body parts. If something is to be done, it must be decided quickly."

"There's a side entrance where what appear to be undead demons are doing... something. What it is they are doing is a mystery, but some appear to be moving boxes, others body parts. If something is to be done, it must be decided quickly."
"The cult's making a flesh pit for Zalmakul to feast on, most likely." responds Loque, still alert as she was. "I say we go after Henderson before they add him to the pile."

"How much longer are you going to keep tickling me like this?" Henderson spat out before another stab made him drop down to a knee again "The other one doesn't seem to be liking it either."

"Don't concern yourself with his health." The shadow demon twisted the blade some more as it's servants began to fill the hall "I've made sure to numb the pain for him. He should be experiencing a fraction of the pain you're going through. I'm preparing the meat for lunch more than anything. Isn't that right?" The shadow version of Henderson grinned and nodded. An undead servant shambled closer to him to offer one of the boxes. The larger demon simply grabbed the zombie and bit it's head off before digging into the rest. Edward sighed as he turned around "Stop eating the servants damn you!" He scolded the demon. The short break in concentration gave Henderson a reprieve as he noticed something about the demon's abilities. The brute's smile crept back out again as the gears in his mind started to turn.

"After you kill me, what are you going to do anyway?" Henderson asked with a neutral tone

"Leave this cursed hole for starters. Isn't it obvious?" The demon scoffed "What else would I possibly do?"

"You didn't think about killing the rest of my group? Have them dance around like dead puppets for your amusement?"

"I have little interest in them, beast."

"Oh, but you would if you actually knew who I was with." Henderson grinned "One elf in particular. She seemed like Eddie's type. Tall, long hair, pretty face, long legs. Big set of tits on that one." The shadow demon turned it's head to fully face him. The face was hidden but Henderson knew he had his full attention. " There's another one with her. Not as pretty, bit uptight, but probably does insane things. There's also a fox woman that is two steps removed from a wild animal. Probably in that way too. And there's the armored one. Know nothing about her, but she seems nice." The mutant shrugged "Come on. He shares all my memories and everything I know." He motioned with his head towards the big brute opposite of him "If that blood is fresh, you can probably extract what you need." Edward didn't say anything for a few seconds before he took out a vial. "What was it? Tome 3. Page 164. Chapter 13. Come on. Get a good look at what I saw."

"It was 12." The creature corrected him before it lifted its mask. Henderson just shrugged again. It mumbled some words in an old dead language and drank the vial's contents. It began to stumble as the blood spell began to work. At the same time Henderson got back on his feet. His shadow version was distracted by what was happening with it's dark brother that it didn't notice him walking to one of the pools of blood and planting his foot on top of the skull in the middle. "It actually works...The memory transfusion actually works... that's..."

"Blood magic is something else aint it?" The mutant said with a satisfied tone. The demon turned to face him again and it soon realized what he was going to do. Before he could stab at the doll again, it was too late. Henderson's foot crushed the skull. The loud crack send a shock wave through the cave forcing it to drop the doll. The cloud of miasma in turn began to shrink. Henderson laughed as his hunch proved to be very fruitful. Edward was using those skulls as wards to strengthen the miasma and to boost his own abilities. "You got so concerned to get yer dick wet long enough to break concentration and for me to break your ward." He gloated and quickly walked up to the shadow demon "You really are everything bad about that little runt." He raised his fist "You stupid wanker!"

Before he could deliver his blow, his shadow grabbed his arm and pulled him aside. Delivering a punch that would send him going backwards through the air, Henderson would land next to another pool. He knew where this was going and that he stood no chance alone. He clenched his fist as he smashed the next skull, further shrinking the miasma and causing some of the undead in the cave to collapse on the ground. He spat out the saliva that had poured into his mouth and got back up. The entrance was almost clear from the cloud. One more should do it.

The shadow charged him and rammed it's shoulder in his stomach before lifting him up in the air. He gritted his teeth and wrapped his arm around it's neck, forcing it to slow down and put him down. He started to punch and elbow it's back to force it to try and escape from the hold. Eventually it got free from him and backed off. With a roar it tried to charge him again, but this time it's attack was halted by an uppercut. The hit forced it to spin in a half circle, giving Henderson an opening to punch it at the back of the head. Or so he thought, the shadow grabbed his hand mid swing and bit down on it. He let out a scream and punched it's head a few times before giving into his baser instinct and sank his own teeth in it's shoulder. That forced the demon to let go and change priorities. It balled up a fist and punched him in the stomach several times, forcing him to release his own grip.

At the same time, Edward's shadow was recovering from the second shockwave that hit him. He tried to get his footing as he saw what was coming. Henderson's shadow currently had lifted him and was about to drop him...right on top of the third skull.

"NO! DON'T YOU FUCKING DO THAT-" It shouted in vain as the mutant came down and crushed the bone underneath him. The third ward's destruction caused the cloud to clear away from the entrance allowing Henderson's allies to move freely. More of the undead began to drop and as for the doll, the demon knew without the wards, the pain would be equal for Henderson and his ally now. "You stupid brute!" It spat out "You fucked everything up with your damn thrashing about!" He turned towards the entrance "Kill him! End it! I'll deal with what comes through there."

While his shadow was being scolded, Henderson managed to get up with a pained grunt. The healing had kicked in and probably the same was true for his counterpart. No matter, this was just the start.

"Vincent, you better hurry and get your asses in here! I found the bastards responsible for our cannon." Henderson clenched his fist, time to see just how good these gauntlets were.

Takato looked over at the entrance, as he began to propose his suggestion.

"Perhaps that side entrance previously mentioned could be of use. The undead there aren't reactive to the living, at least not to me, and that path seemed unprotected," he proposed, though as the chatter continued, it appeared that the green smoke covering the entrance to the cave Henderson entered was disappearing.

With Henderson's yell heard from within, Takato looked over to the others, noting Senya's proximity to the entrance.

"...anyone wish me to guide them to that side entrance? An ambush from the side would be least expected..."

Senya marched forward and saw the magic fade from the main cavern. Henderson dealing with two enemies on the verge of delivering trouble. She spurred the fire ball out and unsheathed her sword, shield up in readiness. No time to waste as the battle is beginning to start. Senya turned to the shadow demon with the mask, narrowing her eyes. "Who are you supposed to be?"

"My name is Edward Henderson." The shadow demon gave an indignant response as it raised a horned gesture those arriving through the entrance "But soon you'll call me master."

"I bow to no one," replied Seriphine, standing next to Senya. Before the evil creature could respond she pulled out her swords and charged forth, attacking the undead demons lingering throughout the cave.

Whilst Gwen dug her heels in once some green... uh. Smoke filtered towards the cave entrance, she began to pace from side to side, wondering what to do. Though with some commotion, it seemed like it was beginning to disappear.

Takato's suggestion intrigued her, however, as she looked down towards her rifle. It's probably not the best idea to charge into a small, cramped cave with a ranged weapon, so she should probably take up his offer of being taken to the side entrance. "Well, if I had to guess, they'd be a bit more active if they saw us of tender, mortal blood, mm?" ...Not without making a quip first, evidently. "...But... yes. That's probably the best course of action for me." Gwen began stepping over to where Takato was standing.

Inari glanced between Takato and Senya, the latter charging on ahead. An ambush wasn't a terrible idea. In most cases it was always preferable in any sort of combat, but given the foe they were up against... she wasn't too certain it would be worth it. Not enough targets. This was no war host to be twisted and broken on the rice fields or dark mountain forests. Just some dreary types and, evidently, the big man's shadow ready to fight.

"Maybe gun people go around," Inari shrugged, pushing ahead as she drew her spirit blade out in one smooth gesture. Senya and Seriphine had gotten the lead on her, and the kitsune rushed on to assist the women in fighting the shadow.

-------
Vincent decided to go along with Takato and Gwen, swinging around to the alternative entrance in an effort to ambush whatever was inside. Meanwhile, Henderson and the rest of the group made their moves. Attacking the combined forces of Edward, Henderson's shadow copy, and the undead around them. As Henderson exchanged blows with his shadow copy, putting his new abyssal gauntlets to good use, the rest of the group focused their attention on Edward and the undead. Seriphine, Inari, and Kassidy eliminated the undead with malicious intent, putting them down quite quickly and violently. Meanwhile, Senya and Loque focused on Edward. Senya's blade sliced across Edward's arm, which Edward reacted to with a vicious punch to Senya's head. His blow rattled her inside her helmet, making her stumble backwards. Loque fired a rifle shot at Edward as soon as there was an opening, but the shot missed his body by two inches.

Elsewhere, as Gwen and Takato discussed their plans to ambush the enemy, three undead lurched out of the opening at them. All three took nasty swipes from the undead creatures.

Senya stumbled backwards, attempting to regain her balance from a harsh blow like that. She could feel blood drip from her bottom lip, a purple bruise appearing underneath the helmet. But the Warden still needed to handle Edward while the others held off the undead. Perhaps if they can eliminate Edward, the undead will go down. Senya ignited her blade, setting it on fire and made a hasty dash to the main enemy in an effort to slash his limbs.

Edward's shadow gripped it's hand after that punch. While the hit was successful in beating the armored wench back, it broke a few bones. He murmured a few words and a faint green glow emanated from his hand. The bones inside his fingers realigned into place allowing him to move them again. He didn't need them fully healed, just functional. The shadow demon turned it's attention towards the group again.

At the same time Henderson was delighted that the gauntlet had a nice heavy sound of metal hitting flesh, but that was interrupted by a cheap shot from his copy. He scowled and prepared to smash the demon's face again.

With Gwen and Vincent vocalizing their wish to head for the side entrance, Takato nodded and began rushfully leading the way, as the others entered through the main entrance.

As the three headed up to the side entrance, Takato and Gwen discussed what potential plans they might have: "...the undead at that entrance may be under the control of another, if they were unreactive, however. Nothing to do with how mortal one is. So, if such a possibility is considered, then the one of such supernatural arts must be dealt with first..."

However, as they approached the side entrance, in a moment of ill-consideration, they were ambushed by the undead demons, with Takato taking it harder due to leading the other two. Looking over at the other two, he spoke.

"Allow me to deal with them! You two head inside!" he yelled, as he pulled out his talisman container from his robe.

"The undead here must be akin to those in the mortal coil, no?!" he spoke, as out of the container flew a card-like talisman: "Wuxing ~ Crimson Fire!"

Out of the middle finger of his artificial right arm, burst out the horn-based miniscule projectiles; as they slid up his arm, they charged themselves with qi before leaping from his shoulder towards the talisman, and rushed forth, suddenly ablaze! Seeing the three undead on fire would be the best, in his eyes.

With the undead falling to her blades as easy as they were felled by her companions, Seriphine rushed further and began to strike at Edward. She opened up with a quick vertical slice followed by another horizontal one.

Loque rubs her eyes intensely and curses after noticing she had missed the shot. She quickly raises her rifle and takes another at Edward, hoping to land it this time.

To her credit, at least Gwen's quip wasn't wrong. Before the two of them were able to draw up a plan, a small group of what she could only assume were zombies lashed out towards them, coming from the second mouth of the cave. She'll have to tell Takato that she told him so later. For now, however, she wrestles the undead off of her, giving the thing a good smack to the ground with her rifle as she does.

The attack seemed disorganized-- and not all too effective. More a ripped cloak and a bruised ego, more than anything. Rushing inside, she levels her rifle to her shoulder, taking a shot at the first target she can.

The battle continued, as Edward summoned more undead around the cavern to aid him. Once more, the miasma filled part of the cavern, affecting Senya, Seriphine, and Inari in particular. Leaving them coughing and gagging as they attempted to strike at Edward. Senya's blade struck true, slicing across the man's chest and carving out a gash which was quickly cauterized by her burning blade. Seriphine's attack missed entirely, as Edward dodged it. Still, he would be hit by both Inari, whom swooped in low and sliced at his thigh, and Loque, whom fired off another shot which hit him in the shoulder. Gwen and Kassidy would even get their shots in, Gwen rushing into the cavern and snap shooting Edward in the side, while Kassidy opened up on him with her twin pistols. Shortly afterwards, the group was set upon by the undead. Two took swipes at Senya and Loque but missed, while the others battered their targets. Only Inari would manage to counter attack, slicing her undead foe in half.

Elsewhere, Takato would finish off the three undead that had attacked him, forcing the undead to burst into flames and collapse. Vincent rushed by as he attacked, moving into the cavern near Gwen and choosing to sight in on Shadow Henderson. "Hit him in the joints, Henderson! The bone's exposed!" shouted Vincent, as he fired off three shots aiming at Shadow Henderson's exposed elbow joint on his left arm. The shots ripped through, shattering bone and tearing ligaments. Still, the shadow demon would continue exchanging blows with Henderson, whom hit back far harder with his new gauntlets. The shadow demon seemed to be healing rather rapidly, with every hit it laid on Henderson.

Senya gagged on the miasma, a similar gas she had to experience from Shadow Jakob. She tried her best to endure, preparing for another strike at Edward by stabbing him in the end of the blade. After the undead missed a hit on her, she would raise her shield in reaction.

The shoulder's not good enough; it's the head she was aiming at. Loque curses again as she chambers another round. One that she hopes will land right between the necromancer's eyes before he can summon even more undead to fight as the ones surrounding her are getting way too close.

Wesley made use of the environment that he's in, being a vampire would mean that the miasma wouldn't affect him and the green smoke would hide his movement and would provide an equal amount of stealth attacks. the perfect environment for attacking Edward unnoticed. He maneuvered himself in the smoke to where Edward's back would be facing him, he placed his hand on his Ninja-to and it made a miniscule sound of it being unsheathed, focusing the strike into one of his arms.

"You'll rue the day you never thought about looking behind you.." Wesley growled with his fangs showing, nearly sounding almost like another person in the process.

Edward cursed as the hits came fast and they cut deep. Staggering back, the necromancer's began to lose his temper.

"You think you're getting out of here alive? You're going to be nothing more than playthings when I'm done with you!"

"Throwing a tantrum already?" Henderson mocked, his eyes still fixed to his shadow double "Every time he lost control of something, he would curse and throw threats around like he could do something about them." He waved his hand dismissively towards the other demon "Just ignore his whining and focus on killing him."

"SILENCE BEAST!"

"Theodore won't get you out of this mess, you wank pheasant." Henderson moved to continue his fight, aiming for the exposed bone Vincent pointed out before the healing kicked in.

With the undead set alight, Takato smirked just a tad, knowing the other two managed to pass through, and that he had been correct in his undead assumption. The hermit rushed into the side entrance, emerging out the other end to the miasma filling up the cave, and undead anew. Setting the wuxing talisman back into the container, and the container itself back into his robe, he observed the state of the battle through the auras of the others. It seemed the miasma had gotten to three of their own, Seriphine especially being in a critical position.

Observing the movement of the miasma, Takato moved in as to try and heal Seriphine, as to make sure they were all in play.

The attacks continued, the group focusing on putting down Edward as fast as possible to prevent him from summoning more undead or miasma. A coughing Senya's swipe missed Edward, as he moved out of the way quickly. And into Loque's shot. The bullet ripped through his chest, just before Wesley's sword pierced his back. Both wounds were nasty, but the necromancer was still going. Seriphine, after being quickly healed by Takato, gagged a bit from the miasma before attacking Edward herself. Her blades sliced his arms, as Gwen fired off a shot of her own which ripped through Edward's abdomen. Inari wouldn't hesitate herself, despite her coughing fit, rushing in and delivering a vicious sword cut across Edward's back which made him recoil forwards. Right into Kassidy's fatal attack.

Meanwhile, Henderson continued to trade blows with his shadow copy, aiming for the exposed bone and joints that Vincent had pointed out. The bone shattered upon impact, Henderson's gauntlets doing their job. Vincent fired off more shots before reloading, also aiming for the exposed joints. But soon they saw Shadow Henderson straighten up. His wounds healed extremely rapidly, as if he had been filled with renewed vigor. He wasn't going down easy.
