Yup! I think that would be an interesting dynamic, people would always try to assassinate him because of how much his "eyes" are worth. That being said, I am going to challenge you to make them a little different than the Kurta, have their effect be something unique.

Think of how useful that would have been as thia tribe was forming for it to be passed down from generation to generation through their genes. Something that gave them some sort of advantage at some point maybe.

I'll try my best! And I'll try to have it be something other than the eyes, though thanks to a multitude of eye related abilities in anime coughcoughNARUTOcoughcough It's hard to think up anything else that'll be interesting. Also I like that dynamic, of the fear of always being assassinated, by both the black market and his Uncles subordinates.

Well I don't wanna get too technical here, but special traits amongst different groups of humans like skin and eye color, height, and other physical attributes can uaually be explained by that having been an advantageous characteristic in their enviroment which ensured their survival and subsequently the possibility to pass down those genes. For example, the reason most groups of humans closer to the equator developed and passed down darker skin colors was because they were under stronger sunlight and needed a better protection against UV rays, which melanin provided. Humans in places of the world that developed closer to the poles usually had lighter skin because they needed to make the most out of the little sinlight they had, and the best way to do that was with less melanin. Over the generations, those better adapted to their environment thrived and were able to pass down their genes, which made them spread wider.
It doesn't have to be as complicated as that, but if you want some ideas think firat of the kind of place that culture developed in, and from there gather what advantages would have ensured survival. That's what I'd do.

Nah, don't worry about rushing the character. If you want my advice, think of an interesting nen ability (or search for other people's ideas...) and base the character around that. Or base it off an image.
