A girl, 14 years old, stood on a ship. Her long brown hair swayed in the wind with her goggles around her head. She wore a black tank top with tan, khaki shorts, and black combat boots. She thoroughly believed she could pass the exam, and get revenge on a certain person.


She looked at all of the other passengers, they looked OK to her, but not satisfactory.


Looks like they're going to be a bunch of dropouts She thought to herself with a sigh. All she saw were a bunch of people who probably couldn't take the heat in the kitchen, but who was she to judge, she was only 14 years old, and taking one of the largest exams on the planet!

It had been a while now since Seito waited on the ship he was constantly staring at a girl who seemed to have a disgusted look at the crowd and in his mind thinking She looks at us as if we're going to be a piece of cake, never judge a book by it's cover; But then again that's what I'm doing right now. he dismissed the thought shortly after as he looked down on his white piece of paper, the details of what was on the paper are clouded and wasn't able to be deciphered by anyone around him.


Seito looked up to the clear blue sky, a few birds had flown passed as the wind swayed through his hair, if he hadn't constantly put his hand ontop of his hat it would have been caught in the wind and gone by now "I hope this will be fun." he mumbled to himself unaware of two large men next to him it also made Seito stand out in the crowd a lot more.

Alastier noticed a boy, who looked older than her, staring at her a moment ago, but paid no attention to it. Instead, she stood up from where she sat and started to stretch and breath the fresh air. It was a relief, really, after living in an abandoned farm most of her life. Her only company were neighboring farms which she stole from. Even so, they weren't really buddy-buddy with each other. She wouldn't blame them, giving the fact that she stole from them 2 times a day. As Alastier stretched, she saw some old men-really old men- giving her scary grins while eyeing her.


What do they want? she thought to herself in annoyance and turned to them quickly with a very short temper.


"What are you skanks looking at?!" She snapped and put her hands to her hips and squinting one eye at them.

Seito was minding his own business blankly staring at the piece of paper until hearing the commotion coming from that girl he was staring at earlier Huh? He looked over towards the direction hearing what the girl said before turning his attention towards the older guys 'Ugh, they look like creeps..Great.' he thought in his mind he got up and positioned himself closer although not directly interfering what was going on allowing it to continue just getting a better view.

Alastier glared at them, waiting for a response from either of the two.


"So? What'cha looking at?" she demanded impatiently as she took her katana from her belt, ready to strike when needed. The old men eyed each other, they started to cackle, patting their knees in humor.


Alastier's eye twitched and she waited for one of them to respond.


"Your just a measly child! Are you lost, little girl?" One of them questioned, wiping a tear from their eyes.


"Don't tell us your actually going to take the hunter exam!" The other exclaimed. Alastier gritted her teeth, and saw that she was grabbing the attention of many people.


"Are you saying," She started "that i'm a little girl?"


"I'm fourteen, and yes i'm taking the exam!" She yelled and hit her heavy katana on both of their heads, harshly. She immediately regretted it as soon as she saw one of the old men's head bleeding. She kept her face straight, not twitching it with regret-well she tried not to anyways.


"If one of you two idiots insult me again, I'll unsheathe my katana next time!" She warned and stomped away from everyone, where she could let off some steam.


I think I overreacted a bit... she thought as she tied her katana back to her belt.

For some reason Seito had tried hiding himself which was a stupid idea considering he stood out almost as much as that other girl did, he was amused at the scene as the two old guys got what was coming but thinking in his mind 'I would've made them cry.' he thought to himself thinking it was justified, he figured it would be a lesson taught and he often loved winning fights by putting others to complete shame that happening to him is also one of his greatest fears, becoming stripped off his dignity would be harsh he thought.


He looked to the girl waiting for her to look over to him again and when she did so, giving her a plain thumbs up poking his tongue out slightly, his expression seemed confident if not cheeky.

Alastier was staring at the boy with a confused look, but later had a smile plastered on her face. It seemed she entertained some people on board, and she couldn't help but smile. Even though she injured two participants- she thought they deserved it- she felt pretty good. She turned her attention back to the boy. She was going to attempt to make a new friend today. She took a deep breath, then walked hesitantly towards him. When she reached to where he was, she stuck out her hand automatically.


"The name's Alastier, what's yours?"

Seito watched as she walked towards him 'She's coming towards me..What do I do now..' he thought to himself, he never prepared for this and wasn't sure what to do when she stuck out her hand, it appeared Seito was unfamiliar with the custom of shaking hands and instead stared blankly at it for a moment before looking up looking to Alastier as she introduced herself instead of shaking her hand he just waved and smiled graciously wiggling his fingers slightly.


"I'm Seito, nice to meet you." he said casually.

Alastier awkwardly put down her hand and questioned Seito's social skills. She shook off that thought and paid attention to what's in front of her. A boy. She didn't know how to cope with this boy, he seemed strange and socially awkward, but she couldn't give an opinion now, she barely met him!


"Seito, that's a nice name," she complimented and then pointed to the sky "Hey Seito, don't you think those seagulls are trying to say something?" she asked and looked up at the flock of gulls, still swarming the rocking ship.

Seito looked to the seagulls and turned his attention back towards Alastier "I don't know, I don't speak seagull. But from the looks of how they're surrounding the ship I guess they could be doing something." Seito was fairly curious of the girls gesture earlier, most would think that Seito just lacked any social skills but truth was where he was raised no one shook hands.


As another gust of wind blew passed Seito grabbed a hold of hat keeping it on his head he was hoping they would arrive there soon.

"They're probably hungry, some idiot must've spilled their food or something..." Alastier added on as she looked at the gulls suspiciously 'Why are there so many?'. She sighed and looked out at the sea, not feeling any nausea. A question popped in her head as she turned to Seito.


"How old are you anyways? Won't your family miss you?" She asked the socially awkward boy.

Seito smiled cheerfully "Actually, it was my mothers idea to do this; My father has no say in it he doesn't even know I am doing this yet. I'm fifteen, what about you? How old are you and why are you coming here you should also have a family." he said looking back up to the seagulls, he was becoming curious of what they were doing, it wasn't usual at all even if there was food spilled on the ship Hmm..

Alastier's face turned serious.


"I'm fourteen and I'm doing this of my own will, I have no family. The reason why i'm here is because I want to avenge my family even though I don't consider a certain someone part of it..."


Alastier looked at the sky where the gulls were, feeling rather uncomfortable with her change of attitude, then looked at Seito with a smile "How come your dad doesn't know your here? I mean, who knows how long we've been here for!?" She forced a laugh. The wind around them started to grow a little stronger, some sailors were holding sails now. Alastier started to worry and a sense of dread came over her.


'What's going on? Something smells fishy'

Seito noticed the wind becoming stronger as she spoke, he wanted to avoid that question and used it as an excuse as the sailors began grabbing the sails and shouting to each other "Hey, we should probably go inside the ship unless you want to get all wet." he said smiling confidently, he noticed her expression of worry and thought a smile could help make her feel a little better, by this point Seito was assuming the Hunter exams had started already knowing that they always have tricks up their sleeves, but then again he couldn't know for certain besides changing the weather would be an impossible feat to achieve.


'Whatever's going on avoiding it would probably be best right now, at least until we get to land.'

Alastier looked at Seito, giving a tiny smile, "Yeah, I don't know about you, but I don't feel like getting in the rain today."


She paid close attention to Seito's smile 'How can he smile at a moment like this?' She thought repetitively as they went inside. How could he smile now of all times, there was probably going to be a storm any moment. She slid her eyes to the other people inside, a lot of them looked sick and nauseous. She gave some a disapproving look until something hit her like a train.


'This could very well be a test' She thought to herself with wide eyes, then quickly stared at the back of Seito's head 'The question that stands is... does Seito know?'

Seito walked inside being right next to Alistier when walking inside, he looked around and seen every being sick, a disgusted expression appearing over his face at the sight Seito looked away avoiding any eye contact in fear he might start being sick himself. He wasn't sure what was going on but either way it probably wasn't a good thing. Noticing that Alistier stared back to him momentarily after Seito turned his attention towards Alistier as well giving off another smile.


"It's much better here, all nice and cozy." he said wrapping his arms around himself laughing slightly as a wave] crashed into the ship making a large thudding sound as it hit the ship ironically as Seito was saying it was cozy as a result he also fell off the crate he sat on and got knocked to the floor.

"Seito!" Alastier exclaimed once she saw him fall off the crate, and went to him quickly "Are you alright? Your not hurt are you!? Should I get someone?" She asked in speed, trying to jam a boat load of questions in one sentence. She stuck a hand to Seito's face, trying to help him get back on his feet. It was the least she could do after everything that's happened so far.

Seito blinked when he fell down and rubbed his head staring awkwardly at Alistier "For someone who has just met me you look pretty worried." he said with a smile on his face, taking her hand he used her as support to get himself up


. He wondered what made her so worried, he only fell off a crate after all it was really strange to see a girl like her on his ship, it made Seito begin to think if she really did belong on this ship, whether or not she did didn't matter now though; She was here.

"Do you not appreciate my company?" She said in mock- offense, then laughed softly "Well, I worry because your my friend, and friends help each other, right?" She stated with a finger pointed at him directly. She dropped her index finger and tried to focus what was happening outside. A series of waves crashed onto the ship, shoving it right and left. She sympathized many of the sick people on board, they came on this ship thinking that they could take anything in the Hunters Exam, when they can't even take a storm.


She made up her mind "I'm going to try to help some of these people, maybe even the sailors... you could come with if you want," she nodded towards Seito's direction in acknowledgment, and started towards the hallway.

Seito nodded and just agreed with Alistier, if it was one thing he knew about girls it's that they always have to be right "Yeah, I guess you're right." he said following Alistier as she walked down the hallway, he looked at all of the people getting sick "Poor sobs can't even make it passed the transport to get to the hunters exam." it would normally come off rather harsh but what Seito was stating was also true, he felt a similar sympathy but only hoped that these guys just went home instead of torturing themselves, the exams haven't even begun yet.

"I have to agree with you there," Alastier agreed "These people should know better than to enter the Hunters Exam unprepared, especially if you can't take a storm like this..." She sighed and hoped that they would give up the Hunters Exam, one reason is that they would just be in the way, the other, it was just too painful to watch. The two of them made it on deck, the floors slippery and wet, the sails going crazy with the wind, and sailors scattered everywhere; some holding the sails by rope and others tried to send commands from the captain. It was all too hectic for Alastier, but it was better than waiting in a hot, crowded boat for hours being bored.

Seito looked at all the ropes flying everywhere and the sailors running from one side of the ship to the other, it was a mad fest indeed and it also caught Seito off by surprise, he never seen something like this before yet he didn't seem all too fazed by it either. Seito ran to one of the sailors and began asking for help, once the sailor told him what to do he beckoned Alistier over.


"Hey! Help me with this!" he shouted across the ship as he leaped to a rope and went flying with the wind, however this seemed time as he brought himself up on the sail support and wiped his forehead with his hand in a sigh of relief.


'That could have been bad if I wasn't holding onto the rope..' he thought to himself before wrapping the rope around the ship and tightening a knot to make sure it would stay he dropped down from the support and landed okay going to another rope and grabbing a hold of it and beckoning Alistier over again as this time he tried making sure the wind didn't take him again.

"Hey! Be careful you idiot!" Alastier scolded with a yell at Seito as she cautiously walked to where he was "You could've gotten flown off the ship and drowned!" She ran to another loose rope and quickly tied it down without being flown off like some people. She directed her thought to Seito. If he was going to be this reckless all the time, he'll just get himself hurt severely in the future, but he could handle himself, she was more than sure about that. After Alastier made a tight, big knot with the rope to hold the sails, she went towards where Seito beckoned her over hastily, stumbling here and there.

Seito looked at Alistier run around doing what she could to help and when she ran back stumbling around Seito couldn't help but laugh "Is it your first time walking?" he said in a sarcastic tone as he gripped the rope tight trying to keep the sail from going haywire he pulled back until Alistier could get there to help him, with the wind and constant crashing waves, their whole plan earlier about 'not getting wet' went down the drain as a wave of water crashed on deck hitting everyone on it in the process; Seito fell down with a clud from the pressure of the wave coming down on top of him.
