Hunt or be Hunted (DergTheDragon x Myla)

As Hector continued to keep watch, He suddenly heard an odd noise. Nothing from the outside thankfully, but still one that he wasn't expecting. Sina's a snorer, huh? I must admit though, its not obnoxious to listen to or anything... no, endearing is the word I'd use.

As he thought this, he turned from watching the entrance for bit to look towards Sina.. He was taken aback by just how... peaceful she seemed. Innocent, even. Hector felt the warmth in his chest from earlier intensify, his mouth becoming dry, his heartbeat quicken... all from simply gazing upon Sina's sleeping form.

The watch, Hector. Focus on your duties until dawn.
With that he was able to snap himself out of it until he heard birds chirping outside, and soon stray rays of sunlight began to peek through the cracks. He waited a bit longer, even though he had previously decided to wake her at dawn. I understand what she means now... I've never had to wake a sleeping person before, but it feels... dirty. Even downright wrong...

Even as he thought this, he knew that the sooner she awoke, the sooner they could begin discussing the many important matters that needed laying out. After the sun had risen almost entirely, Hector finally decided it was time to wake Sina. He carefully knelt down next to her, tapping her on the shoulder. "Sina, it's morning, time to wake up.... Sina?"

Sina wakes up blinking her sleepy eyes and sees it's after dawn, "Good morning and I thought you're waking me up before dawn?" She sits up stretching and looks at him confused. "Did something happen?" She thinks to herself as she let loose of her red curly hair, I really hope not.. That would not be fun. Sina frowns at the thought becoming a bit nervous already, but controls her nerves.

Hector smiles and shakes his head, chuckling slightly. "No, nothing happened. Don't worry." Hector looks down a bit in embarrassment. "Let's just say.... I know where you're coming from now when you say it's hard to wake someone up." He then straightened himself, then said "Regardless, we need to figure out what we're going to do. As dangerous as leaving this place is, we need a lay of the land. places the wolves seem to frequent or avoid for some reason, things like that. it's only a matter of time before we're discovered, anyway."

Sina blushes and nods already calming down, "I agree, but I realized something.. If this hideout connects with another, then maybe.. Just maybe, this wasn't te only tunnel or hideout. Maybe there's more."

Hector looks towards her in astonishment for a second, then looking down deep in thought. "Perhaps... I never would have thought of that myself. But if this is part of some sort of network, the rest of it is hidden quite well. I don't see any tunnels leading from this room besides the one we came from, and that just lead straight here from outside. We could look for secret passages and the like before resorting to heading back out, I suppose." With that hector began to glance around the room curiously.

Sina gets up looking, "Maybe they are here but we just don't see them." She looks back at the tunnel, "Unless they connect with that tunnel." She goes to the wall of the cave and starts walking slowing around the cave. As she does, Sina runs her fingers against the walling feeling for an opening, "The last one we found by accident and luck. If there's one tunnel I think there's a good chance there's another, but I may be wrong." She looks at Hector voicing out her thoughts, "If we were the ones creating the tunnels, where would we put a secret tunnel?"

"Hmm, that's an excellent question....' Hector seems deep in thought for a while, scanning the room, before he stops and looks towards the small pond the cave had. "Perhaps we might make an underwater passage from one chamber to the next?" He starts approaching it, looking for anything suspicious. The water was too dark to see any details underneath it. He shrugs, and starts removing his shoes, then his shirt and necklace, revealing the prominent scar that ran up the left side of his torso, nearly stretching from his chest to his waist. Only the one, but it looks as though it could have been fatal if it wasn't attended to like it had been.

"I suppose there is only one way to find out." Hector began wading into the pond, the water only going up to about his chest until he could barely touch the cavern wall with his hands, when suddenly his feet no longer touched the bottom. He looked to Sina. "We may be on to something here..." he took a deep breath and swam down just a bit, till he reached the bottom, about 3 more feet of water. And lone behold, right in front of him, instead of a wall, was an underwater passage. He surfaced, and looked to Sina. "Yes, we're definitely on to something. Feel like going for a swim?"

Sina blushes when she sees him shirtless and her mouth becomes dry for a second. She shakes her head trying to focus and says, "That seems like a good place to put a secret tunnel." Sina sees his scar and frowns making a mental note to ask about his scar later on, I wonder what happened. It looks like it hurt a lot. She starts feeling guilt seeing a good person be harmed like that.

When Hector asks her about swimming, Sina just looks at him biting her lip, "Errrr... One issue though..." Sina becomes embarrassed for a moment and mumbles out quickly, "Ican'tswim." She avoids looking at him and frowns again scratching the back of her neck. Sina was a great runner, but when it came to swimming she never was able to get the hang of it. Every time she tried to swim or even learn how to swim she would just sink and start drowning.

Hector frowns slightly and looks down. He then looks towards Sina and smiles reassuringly. "It's alright, I don't think less of you for it. However, I cannot ignore a possible lead to further safety, a place even harder for the wolves to find. Theoretically, if I built this place, I would build a second, much drier passage between this room and wherever this leads, that only opens from the other side, and when closed remains very well hidden. If it's alright with you, I will explore the passage myself. I will look around for any ways to get here from there, and if I don't find any, I'll immediately swim back and tell you what I did manage to find. Sound like a plan?"

Sina didn't like the idea of him going in by himself, but nods either way since they needed to know what was there, "Alright, it's a plan, but be careful please. You don't know what's over there." Sina frowns being nervous for him. She was never a nervous person when it comes to herself and strangers, but if it's people she is starting to careful and become attached to, Sina would automatically become a nervous wreck for them. Sina didn't like harm going toward the people she cared for and she certainly didn't want Hector to become harmed and hurt. Sina surprises herself as she realizes she is starting to care about Hector and thinks, I rarely become attached to other people, but yet look at me now... I have enough nerves for the both of us for when he goes in there. I think I'm starting to actually care about Hector..

Hector smiles towards Sina reassuringly. "You're concern is noted Sina. I will tread carefully. If we're lucky, I'll come back through another entrance, so remain calm if something strange starts to happen. Don't worry, I will be fine." With that, hector dived back under the water and went through the tunnel. He was always an exceptional swimmer among Angels, as he was able to learn quite quickly how to propel himself underwater with his wings. Just as he was starting to run out of air, there seemed to be a place to surface. He inhaled deeply, and began to look around before realizing this was just an air pocket that could fit about 3 human heads. With nowhere else to go, he continued tough the tunnel, surfacing in two more of these air pockets before finally, he emerged in anther pond very much like the one he came from.

The rest of the room was... astonishing. His eyes widened taking in the large pyramid-like structure in the center of the chamber, surrounded by small buildings all made out of some sort of bricks. Is this.. some sort of subterranean city?! it certainly seemed that way. It was rather small by city standards but it certainly was impressive.

Before he began to explore the place however, he began to inspect the walls and look around for any sort of passage or anything that sticks out. He could tell Sina was worried about him, and honestly, he was equally worried about her. what if as he explored this room, the wolves found her? Besides that, he honestly felt lost, paranoid and even a bit afraid without Sina around. This was not only because he was afraid for her sake, but he was also beginning to rely on her very much, not only for her skills and knowledge that had helped the two survive the last few days, but for comfort. Hector had been wandering alone for months now, and couldn't go back to his follow angels. Having sina around made him more content with life than he had ever been. Sina, a Demon, seemed more understanding and willing to accept the way he was then his fellow angels.

Hector began to comb the walls for anything out of the ordinary, when he saw something strange. Some sort of wheel, mounted to the wall. He gripped it, and began to turn it. It didn't budge at first, having been untouched for who know how long. Then suddenly, it began to turn, and a section of wall in front of him began to slide open. Well, what do you know. After quite a bit of hard physical labor, the wall had move enough for him to walk through. Somehow, altough he couldn't begin to guess, there was a sizably long tunnel. I sure hope this leads where i think it does. hector began to walk through, and after a while, he began to see another chamber, and lone behold, the fire he and Sina had set up the night before flickered up ahead. He smiled and continued to walked through.

The moment Hector goes underwater, Sina starts silently pacing, She becomes more worried by the second as she paces and then thinks to her self, What if Hector didn't get enough air along the way as he swam? What if something attacked him? What if can't find his way through and he drowns? What if he hurts himself while swimming? What if I don't get to see him again? What if he dies? Oh dear.. Oh dear.. As she thinks this, Sina whispers to herself over and over being anxious, "Be okay. Be okay. Be okay. Be okay." Sina kept looking back at the pond every few minutes expecting him to come back out of there.

Sina stays worrying about Hector and runs her hand through her hair starting to feel more dread and guilt as the minute ticks by. After fifteen or so minutes, Sina puts her face onto her hands thinking, Oh gosh.. Don't be dead.. Don't be dead.. What if he is? I shouldn't have let him enter into the unknown water, we could've just went through the forest. At least, he would be next to me... While Sina's anxiety and dread rises she gets lost in her own thoughts and doesn't hear him walking through the tunnel.

Hector emerges, and begins looking around for Sina. He sees that she seems to be panicking, so much so that she doesn't notice him. He sighs, and begins walking towards her. "Honestly Sina, you should have more faith in me then that. I told you I'd be fine, and I keep my promises. My kind has a way with that sort of thing."

Sina hears him and turns around runs to him hugging him. She finally starts to calm down, but a bit quickly stuttering a little, "I know, I know.. B-but you took a lot longer than t-than expected and then I-I-I kept thinking of the bad things that could've happened to you. I was really worried." She leans her head against him trying to calm down, "I would've hated if anything bad happened to you." Sina frowns.

Hector was startled at first by Sina's reaction. He gently wrapped his arms around her back. "I'm alright Sina. Please calm down... it pains me to see you like this. honestly.... I was worried about you too. I kept thinking that I'd come back only to see the werewolves had gotten you... I guess we both need to laern to have faith in one another." He chuckled a bit, trying to lighten the mood.

Sina nods calming down as she sees that Hector is safe and okay. She looks at him and smiles lightly, "Alright, alright and I guess we do need to have some faith in each other. And if the wolves came back, I would've had put one hell of a fight. I wouldn't want them catching me." As she finishe her sentence, Sina blushes when she realizes they're hugging but in a way she enjoys the hug. She hasn't gotten one in a long time ever since she was summoned.

Hector looks her in the eyes and smiles, chuckling some more. "Of course. I don't doubt it for a second." Then a sudden thought intruded upon Hectors mind. Perhaps I should kiss her... Odd, I've never had such an urge before. Though, we Angels aren't allowed romance in the sense most would think of it I suppose. This must be what love is truly like... Without a further thought, he begins to lean in closer to her, eyes closed, hoping that she allows him to act upon earthly desires for the first time.

Sina smiles and then she sees him about to kiss her. Even though she's surprised that Hector would kiss her, she leans in for the kiss with her eyes closing on their own. Sina gets butterflies the moment his lips reaches hers and she allows him to act on his desires since, she herself has the same desires.

As their lips meet, Hector's mind goes blank. His senses overtake his consciousness, and all he felt for a moment was Sina's soft lips, her body encased in his arms, and how wonderful it felt to express his feelings in this way. After a while he broke this kiss, and stepped back slightly, releasing Sina from his arms. "Well... I suppose that is one way to deepen our faith in each other," he said teasingly.

Sina becomes dazed as they kiss and her lips parts when the kiss ends. Sina liked being in his arms, but automatically didn't like bing out. She shakes her head and blinks trying to focus on what Hector says. She smiles blushing, "Yes, that's certainly is a way to deepen our faith."

Hector smiles back, then closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, collecting himself. There would be more time for these things later, but for now, there were more pressing matters. As hard a it was becoming to control himself around Sina, he knew that for both their sakes, it was best to try and take these things slowly. A kiss the day after two people meet did'nt come close to hector's definition of "slowly", not by a long shot.

He focused himself and spoke up. "By now you're probably wondering where I came from. So am I, honestly." He looked over towards where he came and nodded towards the newly raised section of wall. "You need to see what's on the other side, Sina. It's breathtaking." With that he held out his hand for her to take. "Let's go investigate, shall we?"

Sina nods taking holding onto Hector's hand. Sina's hand feels slightly cold against his, but not in a bad way. She stays blushing lightly as she still a bit dazed from the kiss. Maybe it was too soon that they kissed? But one thing is for sure and that is that Sina definitely didn't regret it as anymore. Sina smiles to herself thinking about the kiss.

As she looked over at the raised section of the wall, Sina becomes naturally curious and asks, "What's on the other side? And we don't have to swim, right?" She looks up at him hoping she doesn't need to. Sina makes sure to grab her cloak before going towards the tunnel with Hector.

"No no, we don't have to swim. It's easier to show you then explain... suffice to say it's much larger and more elaborate than this room. It looks like hundreds, perhaps even thousands could live there." Hector waited patiently as Sina grabbed her cloak and put it on. He then began to walk with her through the opening and down the tunnel. "There's one thing I'm very curious about,' Hector said as he looked towards Sina. "Why is that cloak so precious to you? There must be a story to be told there."

Sina scrutches her nose, "It's only evidence I have left that my mom actually existed. I... I don't have any family, I never met them and my parents were summoned onto earth before I could even reach a month old." She looks at her cloak, "This belonged to my mom, she left it behind when she was summoned." Sina lightly smiles, "That's why I want kids one day.. So, I could actually have a family, but with the wolves it makes that impossible..." She frowns thinking about the future.

"I see... you, know, 'impossible' is a strong word. Raising a family would be... much more difficult and dangerous then it was before Lycanthropy began to spread like wildfire, but think of it this way: If just by finding this secret place, we have gone an entire day without encountering any wolves, perhaps there is somewhere out in this vast world that the wolves could never reach, where no one would have to live in fear of them."
