Hunt or be Hunted (DergTheDragon x Myla)

Sina looks at Hector, "Remember how I said earlier about one demon per angel?" She sits up from lying down, "Well, I am one of the summoned ones. One of the few who survived being summoned and not killed. However, demons are never told who they balance out, so who I balance out? I may never know. But earlier this morning when I was chased, I was high up in the tree so high that it was near impossible to see me unless you can fly- I usually sleep in tall trees. I was sleeping and somehow a wolf sniffed me out I guess and he came up to kill me, but I woke up the moment he landed on my branch. I moved quick enough that he couldn't kill me, but too slow to where he still got to cut me. I had a knife that I used to always carry, just in case.. I threw it at him, but it landed on his shoulder and that's the moment I started running."

Sina smiles lightly , "If it weren't for you, the wolves would've surely caught me and killed me. So, again thank you for the help."

Hector smiles back. "You're welcome. I am glad that even though I was partly responsible for the death of one demon that chose a brighter path then most of his kind, I was able to prevent the death of another." Hector went to the entrance and cracked it open again, seeing that the sun was descending behind the trees in the distance. he looked back to Sina. "It will be dusk very soon. Prepare yourself."

Sina nods getting up, "The wolves would probably leave soon, let's just hope we don't run into any." She wipes the dirt off herself and picks up her cloak, "Besides food, what else will we need? Water is crossed off the list and we don't really need wood since we have the branches in here, so anything else?" Sins waves her cloak in the air getting the dirt out and puts it back on tying it back around her neck. The cloak cover her small body as well as her wings and completely hides some physical traits that gives her away from looking like a demon. She doesn't put the hoodie of her cloak on quite yet, but she goes to Hector standing in front of him.

Sina looks at him and says, "Do not under any circumstances use your wings until necessary. The sound of our wings will give us away, not to mention the smell. And please DON'T get yourself killed." She looks at him playfully, "I owe you one for saving me so, please don't make me have to repay that favor so quickly. If you do I'm dragging you by the ear back here and giving you a good yelling." She smiles one of her rare and warm smiles before putting the hoodie of her cloak on.

Hector looks down in thought for a moment. "I honestly can't think of anything else, and even if I could we have all the other essentials Let's just focus on food for now. The less time we spend out in the open, the better." Hector nods as Sina warns him about flight. He finds himself surprised by her sudden change in demeanor, and her beaming smile even more so. "A-alright, I won't take any unnecessary risks. I promise." I don't think I've seen such a radiant smile before... they're such a rare form of expression in these times. Hector goes over to the entrance and slowly opens it, just enouh for both of them to squeeze through. "Let's get to it then."

Sina nods and looks out before going through the opening. She clutches onto her cloak automatically going into a more area as she waits for Hector to come out. Sina thinks to herself, If we are going to have to stick together, I might as well trust him. Plus, it's kinda nice to have company and someone to talk to after being alone for such a long time. Sina becomes more at ease as she goes to her natural, playful self. She hasn't shown this side of her since she's been summoned, but not knowing why she chooses to show it now it now letting her coldness toward Hector slowly fade away.

However, even if Sina feels a bit more at ease she knows she needs to be on high alert if she doesn't want to get Hector and herself killed. Sina watches her surroundings making her breathing and steps dead silent. For her to be this silent, it's quite easy. She could stay hours or even days silents and it wouldn't bother her at all. In a way, Sina enjoys the silence, but in another she enjoys hearing a slight chatter in the back ground.

Hector steps out and begins to follow, not being able to match Sina's stealthiness but trying as hard as he can. He kept a constant lookout for both wolves and edibles. He found a berry bush, took out a small pouch he had on hand and began picking a few. Throughout all of this he noticed that even though Sina was being very cautious and wary, it seemed like none of that was directed towards him.

He found it rather odd she would behave this way not very long after making it very clear she did not trust him. Did she already change her mind? Regardless, he was happy that Sina's previous animosity towards him was quickly vanishing, despite not knowing why.

Sina starts getting certain plants that are edible and plants to make a stew out of so that they weren't hungry for tonight. She put the stuff in a hidden pocket on the inside the of cloak that is secure. Sina sees a thin but sharp rock on the floor. She picks it up keeping in case she needs it for self defense. One may never know now a days when they need to defend themselves, so better safe than sorry.

Sina looks at Hector, She still doesn't quite trust him yet, but she knows she should be nicer to him since they are going to have to stick together and she can't cold forever towards him. So, she thought why not start now? It's not like it would kill her.

After a while of gathering edible plants, including more berries, some herbs and a few fruits frOm the trees, Hector had a sizeable amount in his pouches. Hector approaches Sina, and seeing that she herself had a decent amount of food gathered, whispers to her. "This should be enough for now. I think it's time we head back."

It was already dark, and they had heard the occasional wolf howl in the distance. Hector just hoped they could remain undiscovered until they tried to move on from this area especially after they got back to their hideout.

Sina nods, "Alright, let's go. It's not a good idea to stay out here for long." She starts going back toward the hideout, the only thing you could see of her is her cloak and a bit of her face unless you're standing next to her in which you could see more. As Sina starts going back she thinks to herself, I wonder how we are suppose to leave the hideout when the time comes.. It seems like it is going to be extremely difficult.

Sina stays close behind Hector following him. She looks around trying to memorize the forest and from where the wolf howl came from. Sina whispers to Hector, "We must hurry, we don't want to stay out here with all the wolves lurking around."

Hector nods, following the landmarks he had made mental note of on the way here in order to find his way back. A distinctive boulder here, an odd-looking tree there, and other such landmarks allowed him to more or less retrace his steps from the hideout. Hector had developed this strategy after fleeing from the other angels, in order to keep track of where he'd been in case the others came looking for him. As far as they were concerned, he was fallen... fallen angels might as well be demons as far as most angels are concerned.

Hector came upon the entrance to the hideout. Peeking inside and seeing it was just like they left it, he sighed in relief and stepped aside, gesturing politely for Sina to enter first.

Sina thanks him going into the hideout and takes off her cloak laying it on the ground. She places everything she found for the two to eat onto the cloak, "You could place the stuff you found on there. Also, I could make a soup, but we have to figure out how to do a small fire." She goes off getting some branches that is laying around, but she only gets enough so that it's small enough not to burn down the hideout, but big enough for the stew. She lays it in a pile thinking about how to start out to a fire since she already has an idea on what to make the soup on.

Sina picks up certain long and tough feeling plant she had laid on her cloak before-hand and starts folding it, "One thing I definitely know how to do is how to cook and I do enjoy it a lot. I was taught by this sweet old lady, who taught me a couple interesting recipes. She, herself, was actually trapped in a forest before and when she had to eat she would get this plant. If you fold it correctly, it wouldn't only work for to add taste to anything but it could work as a make-shift pot or bowl." She finishes folding it and shows him.

Hector places his own findings on the cloak, inspects the folded plant and gives an impressed nod. "Huh. That will certainly do nicely. As for a fire, that will actually be quite easy." Hector reaches into the top of his shirt and pulls out a pendant at the end of a silver chain.

"This is no ordinary necklace. it is more of a survival tool given to each of my kind. There are certain words of power that when spoken towards the pendant create a small miracle of sorts. Such as..." He picks up one of the branches Sina had piled up, touches one end of it to the slightly glowing blue gem in the pendant, and whispers "Ignis." The tip of the small branch instantly catches fire, a small ember beginning to burn there. He then kneels down and carefully and touches the branch to the rest of the pile, and slowly the ember grows among the pile of branches. He had to do this a few times before finally, the fire was just the right size. Hector stands and looks to Sina. "That should be sufficient. There are few situations in which this amulet is all that useful, but enough to where I keep it around."

Sina smiles in awe of the necklace, "That is pretty awesome." She looks at him being curious, "What else can it do?" She folds up another plant to make another bowl so that both of them could have one. She raises one of her hands making both of the folded up plants float above the fire. Afterwards she raises her hand toward the water that is in the cave and starts to make a small ball of water float into the plant bowls being careful to not let it splash not wanting it to put out the fire.

As Sina starts to put some of the things they had found into the soup she says, "I never knew they did that for your kind. Usually my kind, we don't get survival tools. We have to learn to survive on our own. The only thing we really have extra to help us is our extra abilities, but even then, the extra abilities don't usually settle down easily on those who don't have any. So, usually they are just kept as secrets from other demons."

"There are quite a few things it can do, but none I can really demonstrate all that well right now." Hector watched in awe as Sina went about cooking. "Huh... you can move objects with your mind?"

As Sina finished explaining why demons are not given such things as his amulet he nods. "Yes, I would Imagine... that is unfortunate, though" He looks deep in thought for a second. "The soup smells lovely by the way." Hector sits down and relaxes against the cavern wall, hands behind his head, feet outstretched.

Sina nods "Yes, I been able to do that since I was young. If I wanted to, I would be able to move you as well" She smiles sheepishly and says playfully, "I guess you could say that the ability also made me a bit more lazier than the average person since I don't have to get up to get stuff each and every single time since it could come to me. "And thank you, I hope you like it." She makes it ffloat in front of it, "Careful, it's hot."

Sina nods at his comment though, "Yes, it is unfortunate we have to hide it, but to be honest I prefer it that way." She goes getting up and sits down next to Hector to eat her soup next to him.

Hector smiles towards her. He takes the first bite of his dinner, and after giving sina a pronounced nod of approval, begins to dig in a bit faster then he was expecting to. All the danger this danger he experienced today had distracted him from just how hunger he was. As he ate, he began an inner monologue, digesting the events of the day along with his meal. He found himself thinking mostly about his interactions with Sina so far.

Sina does not live up to any of the horrible things I have heard about demons... until today I still felt like the demon we found among humans had perhaps being lying through his teeth to both his fiancee' and us about his apparently wholesome intentions, but... I have less doubt that I made the right choice now. Now that I think about it, I myself am perplexed at how easy Sina has been to trust... she may have a quite cold and distant aura about her at times, and for good reason, but... there's another side to her I very much like being around, and she is showing that more and more.... I wonder exactly why.

At about this time, he had finished. 'The meal was wonderful, Sina. Just what I needed. Now, all we have to worry about is... well, many things honestly. Tomorrow, we need to develop a plan. How we're going to stay hidden here, and eventually move on. For now though, I am exhausted, and you must be as well. The more rest we get before dawn, when we can move about a bit more, the better... though we should probably take watch shifts just in case."

Sina smiles back glad he approves off it and starts to eat her soup quietly. After a whiles finishes her soup and nods, "If you want, I could take the first shift since you look like your about to past out." She looks at him seeing his exhaustion, "Get some sleep, I'll wake you in a few hours and we will worry about the other stuff to tomorrow. The only thing we worry about now is sleep, and watch shifts." Sina gives him a small smile and picks up the left-over things they picked earlier back into the pouch.

Before Sina takes the shift, she picks up her cloak. She goes over to Hector and hands him her cloak, "Here, use this as a blanket. Do NOT lose it, please. I don't care about getting it dirty, I could wash it later, but for now please keep it in one piece. That cloak means a lot to me, it's one of the few things I cherish."

Hector smiled thankfully at her offer of taking first watch, and letting him use her cloak to boot. "I am having a hard time believing you are the same woman who made it very clear you don't trust me as far as you can throw me mere hours ago," He said teasingly, before laying down and starting to get comfortable, being careful with Sina's cloak.

Sina smiles, "Don't jinx yourself. Even if I am trusting or non-trusting of you, it doesn't mean I'm a bit- I mean bitter and mean person." She blushes catching herself before she accidentally curses. "Besides, if we have to stick together, I am going to have to learn to get along with you and to trust you. So, the sooner I learn to trust, you the better." She starts going to the opening to sit by it, "Also, you haven't harmed me in anyway yet, so the path of learning to trust you is pretty strong." She sits on the ground right next to the opening.

Hector ends up drifting off to sleep much faster then he thought he would, due to the events of the day combined with the fatigue of healing Sina's back earlier. He didn't snore, his breathing only seemed to slow down a bit.

Sina staying silent and keeps watch during her shift. She stays alert while watching the surrounding, but stays listening to Hector's quiet breathing. Somehow the sound of his quiet breaths soothed her. It seems like the more time Sina spent with Hector the less lonely she felt. She thinks to herself, As must as I hate to admit this, I am enjoying Hector's company. It's less lonely and it's nice to finally be able to be around a person without worrying about being killed. I think I could get used to this. She smiles to herself, actually feeling happy and not miserable for once.

Afte a few hours Sina gets up going to Gector knowing that soon she may no longer be able to stay awake. She had given Hector a hour or two extra of sleep since she thought he may have needed it. Sina yawns quietly and lightly taps on his shoulder, "Hmm, Hector wake up please... Hector?..."

Hector's eyes slowly open, as he is woken by Sina's voice and touch. After a few seconds, he sat up. "Time for.... my watch I suppose?" He said between yawns. Without waiting for an answer, he stretched, and carefully handed Sina's cloak back over to her. He then stood up, stretching some more. He looked to Sina. "Hope you sleep as well I did," he teased, Before going and leaning on the cavern wall by the entrance, standing vigilant, listening for any suspicious sounds.

Sina smiles and nods sleepy, "Yes, but I went ahead took over for an hour or two extra so you could get some more sleep. You look like you needed and I don't have the heart to wake wake up others if they're sleeping peacefully." She blushes when she admits the last part. She really was never the type who liked waking up a person from their sleep. Sina would sacrifice her own sleep hours if it meant waking up another person. She just didn't have the heart to wake up them. Never did, never will.

Sina lies down taking her cloak and covers herself with the cloak. She closes her eyes not falling asleep yet, but mumbles nearly incoherent, "Goodnight."

Hector found himself smiling widely at Sina's words. he didn't know why he found them so amusing, and even less the warm feeling he felt in his chest as he heard them. "Thank you, Sina. That was very kind of you." As she began to fall asleep, hector said "Goodnight." in a warm, sincere tone. He then refocused his attention on keeping watch, though he couldn't keep his thoughts from wandering every now and then.

Sina had already fallen asleep before she could even stay some jumbled up form of "You're welcome." As she slept, she snored very quietly. It wasn't obnoxious or loud, but it was a snore nonetheless. As she slept, she looked 20 times less stressed and more innocent. One could almost describe her as more innocent, human, or even angel like in that state. Every once in a while, she would mumble something incoherently and keep sleeping.
