Fandom HTTYD small group RP

Dreamtique Dreamtique so, is hymn's song different/broken? I ask, because i could see the song being a very easy solution to any dragon related problem, or posing a problem for the rider's dragon. I don't to have anything game breaking, but I really don't want to have to make you change dragons.

I understand. Let's just say his songs are not meant for luring prey or to hypnotize a dragon, but to possibly calm them down when they are within a certain range, and single target sound based assault/distraction is still possible due to its frills. If there's anything you need to change, do tell me.

I was just thinking, maybe Hymn doesn’t really know... how to sing those kinds of songs? From the backstory I read, I got the impression that Aesir met Hymn when the dragon was very young, perhaps not even half grown. Supposing the dead dragon Aesir found Hymn with was his parent, maybe Hymn never quite got to that part of growing up. Assuming dragon’s work under the same principles as predators in the real world, his caretaker would have to teach him to hunt, how to stalk and, more importantly, how to sing. Seeing as he was practically raised by Aesir and humans (again, given what I perceive from the written backstory so I may be getting this entirely wrong), maybe he never learned how to lure and hypnotize dragons.
Someone will either have to teach him, or he’ll have to figure it out on his own with a combination of trial and error along with instinct. Perhaps it could work for character development later, as a sort of “level up” or something?

Perhaps something like this?

“Hymn and Aesir meet a wild Deathsong and Hymn is just fascinted by the way the Deathsong’s calls lure and ensnare other dragons. The dragon and his rider go through a bit of a bumpy spell where Aesir is trying to figure out what’s going on in Hymn’s head. Meanwhile, Hymn is perhaps huffy and distracted, which is unusual for him. Eventually Aesir figures out what’s bothering his dragon and tries to help his buddy the best he can”

Character development ensues, and Hymn’s songs can do the things Dreamtique Dreamtique mentioned before.

Hmm, I mean, that's fine if that is what Dreamtique Dreamtique would like to do, however, ultimately it would still lead to the same outcome: a massive dragon with next to no weaknesses, beyond having a deaf dragon. And most wild dragons aren't going to either a) be hard of hearing or b) have an immediate way to block the sound.
But if you have it so his song is more calming/manipulative, like a temporary hypnotization, rather than a luring-against-their-will type thing, that's good with me. I'm okay with powerful, but to me having a death song with the usual abilities would make practically all hostile dragon encounters very, well, lame. I mean, if you got a death song, why not just use its song in every instance. I just want to try and mitigate that, if that makes sense.

Exactly, if it was more of a soothing croon to calm someone versus the absolute control and hypnotizism a wild Deathsong would do. It also seems to me that Hymn wouldn’t really abuse the power of his song anyway, because from what I understand Hymn’s personality is very benevolent and would probably have some internal conflicts about how his song have a such an affect on his fellow dragons. Him and Aesir would work through it, and character development would happen.

But hey, that’s just my two cents, it is ultimately your decision. I just hope I helped some*fades back into the background with jazz hands* take from it what you wiiillll.... jazz hands

Roger that.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! I really appreciate your attention and how thoughtful you are!
But I think I'll keep Hymn's songs property the way they are for now.(not as hypnotizing)

Btw, I may be gone for a whole week or more, just a heads up.

Don't worry, we can wait until you have time to spare :3

Ahh thank you! I wanted their island to, not only make sense in terms of their intended mission, but also to be very different from anything that's been seen as of yet within the franchise. Alien, but still with its own beauty

well, I think you did a great and just love that idea, again great work ^u^
I am super excited about this RP...well I was already excited...but now I'm SUPER more excited! *jumps up and down*

Hello everyone!! I'm super sorry the starter still isn't up. I should be able to get it up tomorrow, though! And I'm free of school very soon so I'll be able to be on all the time
