Briefly, 9S's pondering persisted though it wasn't long before the sound of a voice drew him from his inner thoughts and caused his head to turn in the direction which it had come from. His gaze silently fell upon Scott as he weaved his way through the wreckage of the flight unit. From his appearance alone, the android was unsure how to feel. He looked nothing like the members of the resistance he had met on his last trip down, and he didn't don the attire of a YoRHa unit either. Could he be some special form of machine? It seemed unlikely given his own scanners weren't picking up any kind of machine lifeform in his direct vicinity, though who knew what functions were working and not working after taking such a heavy crash. It made him wary, but before any kind of question could dare slip from his own lips, the other had carried on, asking questions of his own. Those questions caught him by surprise. The thought of what time period wasn't something he thought of often, nor did many of the others. At the very least he did know the year, or well, the year in which he lived in. He could only assume that it was still true in this place too.

"I don't think I can answer your first question. I only just arrived here and it is no place I recognize," he answered politely as he dropped his hand away from his chin and allowed his gaze to wander the direct vicinity for any obvious hints as to where they might be, but there were no signs or landmarks that he recognized, and his scanners failed to offer any useful information either. "As for the time period, it should be 11945 A.D."

That claim didn't seem to bring any red flags up in his own head despite the scenery looking further back in time rather than ahead. To 9S, those things were foreign concepts. With most of the world in ruins in his time, such things hardly seemed odd. Instead, his mind pushed on, and he was brought back to look at Scott, though his eyes were shielded behind his visor and obscured that fact from his current company.

"If I might ask a question of my own," he spoke again, finding his curiosity getting the better of him. It was a bad habit he had thanks to his model type. When he had questions, he always hungered for answers no matter the situation. Now was no different. "You don't look like a member of the resistance, nor do I pick up in machine lifeform signals coming off you, so what are you? Are you an aligned android? A new type of machine that somehow avoids detection?"

His volley of questions would have continued on, though luckily for Scott, his attention was quickly pulled away as another figure entered the edges of his vision. Becoming alert, his body tensed and he prepared to make his katana manifest in his hand, but stopped as Sonic made his appearance before them. The sight of him was more than enough to leave 9S baffled. Never before had he seen anything like him, even among the odd machine designs. He hardly looked mechanical, making it clear he was no machine, yet despite his animalistic looks, it was hard to believe he was an animal either. It was difficult for the android to process and quickly, he lifted a hand up to ruffle his white hair in frustration as he tried to make sense of it. What kind of place was he in to have two entities he was unfamiliar with?

Two wasn't the stopping point though. He didn't have time to properly address Sonic before a third newcomer came waltzing in. Much like Scott, he resembled the looks of androids and the few rare machine lifeform, yet clearly was neither. The thought hadn't crossed his mind before, but the wheels began turning his mind and a new possibility began to form in his mind. Could these be humans? It was no secret that androids had been created to resemble the very people they fought for, but 9S had never met a human. None of them existed on Earth after all, nor did they reside in the Bunker with YoRHa. The thought of ever coming face-to-face with one never had crossed his mind until this moment, and if he was in fact in the presence of not just one, but two, humans then.... That thought trailed off in his mind and instead he dared to blurt out:

"Wait, are the two of you human...?"

An air of disbelief hung in his voice, and while he was focused primarily on Scott and Shom, he hadn't yet forgotten about Sonic. The presence of the hedgehog still hung in the back of his mind, but for now, he needed to confirm his own thoughts, and possibly fix his behavior if such things were to be true.

It was cold... again. The brisk breeze dusted across her cheeks as Lune quietly made her way down the cobbled streets of Ishgard. It wasn't often she found herself alone these days, yet this was one rare case, though it was only because she had been visiting her father while he was busy with his work. The long hours he was kept away from their manor was to be expected given his position within Ishgardian politics. Even so, he always tried to make time for her, especially since there were still some who were hostile towards crossbreeds like herself despite how much time had passed since they had begun opening up more to the rest of the continent. She was one of the unlucky individuals who had to experience the scorn of the people even though she had done nothing wrong. She couldn't change who she was born to or what she was. To loathe her own existence was something she had been forced to ponder on many occasions, yet those who showed care swayed her away from such dark thoughts. It was what kept her afloat in this world.

Sighing at the thoughts, her tail lashed out behind her as she continued in the direction of her family's manor, but after a moment, she paused and turned her head towards a small group that had begun to form not too far away from the nearby aetherite. While she didn't mean to eavesdrop, their conversation drifted to her ears and she couldn't help but perk up. They spoke of a strange magical energy forming a little ways out from the gates of the city. A merchant apparently had come across it on his way in, though the knights had yet to be dispatched to investigate; an ordeal that would need to be passed through her father most likely. It made her curious. She could easily slip in and out before the knights arrived to sate her own curiosity, though she knew if her father found out there would be a scolding to follow. The risks were worth it.

Without a word, Lune turned on her heels and briskly made her way towards the outskirts of the city. If she didn't hurry then she wouldn't be able to get close. Even with a heavy axe on her back, she moved with purpose despite her small frame. The tiring training Lucia put her through had helped her with that much, and as much work as it was, she was glad she would never be left completely defenseless ever again, though she was still very much a novice.

A few minutes passed as she treaded to her destination and soon enough her eyes landed upon the magical rip that had apparently so suddenly appeared. From where she stood, she could feel its magic radiating, though it felt nothing like the magics she was used to. Her mother often had an odd aura around her due to her status as a summoner, though it wasn't something Lune could speak on or ask about often. Summoners were frowned upon, especially by the Ishgardian people. Yet another reason she could be looked down upon. Luckily her parents were smart enough to keep such secrets even if she knew her father hated the idea of it all.

Her mind was getting off track now. Giving it a shake, her attention moved back to the portal and slowly she took a step closer. It's magical properties piqued her curiosity and that was her own downfall. Another step and that was it. There was no warning before the small rip opened wide and claimed her as its victim, and when it did, it vanished from sight.

Seconds passed before Lune was spat out on the other side, leaving her in a heap outside the gates to the Castle Town. She groaned as her senses returned to her and she grabbed her head in attempt to clear it, though it did little help. Rubbing her temples continuously, she squinted her eyes open and looked around, the expression on her face unchanged as she did. Wherever she was it was no longer the snowy terrain of Coerthas. She doubted it was the forested wilds of Gridania either, though admittedly she had only visited her mother's homeland on a few occasions. Where was she then?

That question lingered on her mind as she looked around trying to find some kind of landmark that would make it obvious, but the castle in the distant hardly offered her much in that regard. It was like nothing she had seen, even in the books her father made her read. It left her confused and panicked even if it didn't show in her expression. All she could do in the moment was sit where she had landed and try to process what exactly was going on, if that was even possible.
