Fantasy Harbinger

Arelynn

Nerd
Here's the concept: You (your character) have died. But instead of moving on to the next life or whatever it is they told you would happen after death, you came back. But you're not the same, and you can feel it. You've become one of the following things:

A HARBINGER

A harbinger is a being that can foretell or predict the death of another. As a harbinger, you still have a body and a mind, but you have no soul. As a result, you're much harder to kill, but death is still a possibility, and after dying as a harbinger, you get no second chance. It seems to you that everywhere you go, people die. In reality, it's you that's attracted to places where people will die. No normal person can tell that you're no longer human except for the fact that you're cool to the touch (though not freezing cold). The job of a harbinger is to find people who are about to die and try to prevent it, as well as help wandering souls. There are many types of harbingers: Banshees, mermaids, phantoms, etc. They can all transform to look like normal humans.

Types of Harbingers:

Based on how your character died, their personality, and their background, they will be resurrected as one of the following things!

  • A banshee is a female harbinger that has an acute sense to intentional, unnatural deaths. In other words, homicide or suicide. A banshee's abilities are mainly sonic--dealing with soun--that can be loud enough to permanently damage hearing. Banshees usually have died from homicide or suicide. When not in human form, a banshee will have elongated white hair and sharpened teeth and nails. Their pupils turn black and their skin pale.

A WANDERING SOUL

A wandering soul is someone who died, but can't move on. As a wandering soul, you still have a soul (obviously) and a mind, but you have no body. Thus, only reapers and harbingers can see you. Your strength depends on your emotional power: The stronger your feelings, the more you can interact with the physical world. Commonly, the job of a wandering soul can be to help harbingers. Souls can interact with each other, so only another soul can kill a soul. A soul can take shelter inside a harbinger (because it's basically an empty shell) if they can not or don't want to fight.

A REAPER

A reaper is someone who takes souls to "The Other Side." No reaper, soul, or harbinger knows what is after death, except for the most powerful reaper, The Grim Reaper. Reapers have neither body nor soul, almost as if they didn't exist. Only harbingers and souls can see reapers. A reaper is usually put in charge of a group of harbingers, and in the case of new ones, helps them settle in to their "new life." A reaper can interact with both souls and physical things, but usually chooses not to. Reapers can be killed by souls and harbingers, but are extremely hard to kill.

I will mostly accept harbingers and souls. I may only accept one or two reapers, depending on how many people are roleplaying.
