Alexander nodded silently. He didn't dare take her hand, he didn't deserve to hold her hands.
She took his hand and walked with him to their apartment.
When they got there, Alexander opened the door and went inside, before pausing. He looked around and nearly broke down into sobs. He was so alone.
Eliza pulled him into her arms and laid down with him, letting him cry and staring out blankly.
Alexander hugged her close and just stared at the wall. He was empty inside. There was nothing left.
Eliza felt the same way. She laid her head on his chest. She didn't want to keep living.
Alexander eventually drifted off, not noticing the pass between consciousness and unconsciousness.
Eliza eventually fell asleep as well and dreamt about her sisters and father. They were all younger and playing together but then the three of them turned their backs to her and wouldn't talk to her. She woke up from her nightmare panting, and cried softly when she remembered it was real.
Alexander dreamt of his mother, of how she would speak to him in French and he'd respond in English. How she'd teach him piano and reading. Then she died and Alexander woke sobbing.
Eliza hugged him gently and tried to soothe him.
Alexander was unconsolable. He simply got out of bed and went to his kitchen, rummaging through multiple drawers until her found his wallet. "Come on, let's go get our puppy."
Peggy felt her stomach flip as she stood. "Y-yes. I... oh god please tell me he's okay." Peggy pleaded.
"Yes it is. You deserve so much better. I don't deserve you."
Alexander went to the door, waiting for Eliza. @Paint The Wind
"He's in bad shape, but it looks as if he will pull through."
Eliza walked with him, her head down. All she wanted was for one of her sisters to tell her that she loved her but she knew they didn't and it was devastating.
Peggy smiled, relieved. "Can I talk to him? Is he breathing? How long does he have to be here?" Peggy started asking all the questions that had been plaguing her mind.
Alexander took Eliza to the pet store and looked at the animals. "See anything you like?" Alexander asked.
Eliza saw a little black husky and he wasn't playing with the other puppies. She picked him up. "Hi little guy." she said softly, smiling. He licked her face and she giggled.
Alexander saw the puppy and quickly looked away, his eyes fixing on a spot on the floor. He was tired, void of emotion. He just wanted to curl up in his bed and never wake up.
"Alexander look at him." she said softly, hoping the sweet baby would cheer him up.
Peggy smiled, relieved. "Can I talk to him? Is he breathing? How long does he have to be here?" Peggy started asking all the questions that had been plaguing her mind.
Alexander took Eliza to the pet store and looked at the animals. "See anything you like?" Alexander asked.
Alexander looked at the puppy and forced a halfhearted smile. "He's cute." He said softly.
"Yep. Are you ready to see him?"
She sighed sadly. "Alexander why don't you pick an animal too?"
Peggy nodded and wiped away tears. "Yes," she said softly.
Alexander shook his head. "I'm okay. This is for you." He smiled at her.
Peggy nodded and wiped away tears. "Yes," she said softly.
