  • As he chatted with a number of students and fellow first years close to him, he surreptitiously took a quick glance at the pretty pink haired girl at the front of the long table. Even though he was 11 years of age, he couldn't help but admire the beauty at the other end of the table. Before anyone can notice, hopefully, he averts his gaze as a hint of pink colors his cheeks. 'I hope no one noticed that.' He thought as he returned to the conversation around him.

Isabella couldn't help but glare at Sidney, she didn't like his choice of friends, she knew he would get himself in trouble one way or another whether he liked it or not. She ended up thinking, but was disrupted when one of her friends had sit down next to her. She was one of the only friends that she had, and Isabella was honestly surprised and confused to why Sarah had been placed in Slytherin. They ended up talking a little bit about she had been up to, Isabella wasn't listening at all, she was writing a note on a napkin that she had taken from one of the students. 'I would stop talking if I were you' she ended up getting up and placing it on his head. She got back to her friend and listened to her babble on and on.

Relief flooded Chase as Alexander chose not to prod him more about information regarding women. The very thought was making him quite flustered and he gripped the fabric of his uniform for a tad to calm himself.

"Noted," Chase smiled. "I'll get some when I'm not so busy."

"Another cat?" He exclaimed, rubbing his forehead. "Wouldn't it be easier to befriend a fellow with a male cat?" He would much rather give Tilly a caretaker than take in another cat. It wasn't as if his room was full of creatures already and caused nuisance to his other students.

"Kittens are out of the question," he sighed. "I've got a lot on my plate already and Tilly is trouble enough without kid-doppelgängers."

Alexander's brief silence allowed Chase to sweep through the new students and wonder about his next visit to Hagrid's hut. He would have to make one soon to ask about some questions he had about certain magical creatures.

"Surprise, surprise," the boy grumbled. "I hope sorting gets finished soon so I can spook the first years. And see that stupid surprise."

Alexander's ramblings caught Chase off guard. A smile slipped on his face and he nodded in agreement. "More students for you to teach, eh?"

He reached over to stroke Reiko's ear. "I await the day you properly take over the History of Magic teaching position. My sister would love that, the brat."

  • Zephyrus is still chatting with the other first years and some of the higher years while taking quick, stealthy (to him) glances at the pink haired beauty at the end of the Hufflepuff table.

SidneySidney had managed to insert himself smoothly into the conversations of his friends and a few of the peers around them that were "acceptable" in the elite standards. However, no matter how much he grinned or laughed along with his companions he was still sickened by the probing weight that had developed in him over the summer. Added to that discomfort was the obvious glaring coming from down the table. Isabella's outright visual attack on Sidney was so noticeable in fact that Sidney had elected to turn ever so slightly in his seat, putting his hand in his hair for any bit of comfort that the familiar action could glean. His friends noticed the silent stand off only when the young woman got up from her spot and walked over to Sidney, placing what seemed to be a napkin on his head and walk away.

Sidney had mercifully not noticed her get up but he was unable to escape noticing her when she stood behind him, and put something on his head. It startled him and he rose a few inches from his seat, his hand falling from his temple and taking the napkin with it. Gritting his teeth as he slowly sat back down Sidney snatched the napkin and practically slammed it onto the table in front of him, reading its scrawled message quickly before silently and stillly fuming to himself. He then turned to openly glare at Isabella where she had sat back down. The sixth year Rosewarne was in no mood for her petty grudge, especially not right now. Too much had been gnawing at him and her aggression was only adding to his growing stack of problems. And so in a fit of pent up anger Sidney took his wand and burned the message she had written, singeing the material. Then he stared at it for a moment, his wand clenched in his hand as he froze in his seat. He knew his friends were watching him in confusion but he ignored them. They could ask him later. His mind fought to retaliate by writing mud-blood slurs or something hurtful on the napkin but the memories of life before Hogwarts and before their grudge match won out. As angry and tormented as Sidney felt he couldn't bring himself to hurt her anymore. So he flicked his wand angrily and watched as the darkened napkin folded into a wasp and flirted back towards her with another swish of his hand.

His pathetic counter attack completed Sidney put his wand back in his robe pocket and crumpled into his seat, hand back in his hair where it clutched his wavy locks. His friends and the peers around him made comments, one even joking about a disgruntled ex, nudging Sidney meaningfully. Sidney ignored them, glaring at the one boy who fell silent. As nebulous as the groups relationship was, meaning that though the boy called them his friends they hardly knew much of him at all, let alone how miserable he now felt, the boys knew each other enough to know that one should not be messed with and when one should mess with the other. All in all, anyone outside of Sidney's pure blood band who knew the boy would question why in Merlin's name he admired it so much, and had ended up devoting so much of himself to their elitist behavior. Those like his sister were extremely perplexed, knowing that deep down Sidney wasn't meant to be that kind of person. Which, though the boy was no where near admitting this to anyone or even himself, would greatly explain the increase in despair growing in him as he waited impatiently for the sorting and afterwards, the relief of his rat and bed.

Bella couldn't help but feel a little bad for doing what she had done, but she wanted to try and get him away from his so called 'friends'. She knew what bad would become of the situation she had started but knew it had to be done. Her conversation with her friend was rudely interrupted when a wasp hovered in front of Bella's face, with a scream and a glare towards Sidney's way. She grabbed one of her books from on the table and slammed it down on the wasp before storming towards Sidney slapping his face with the back of her hand and spoke a silencing charm knowing that she will get in trouble a little later for it. "Silencio." She walked off needing to cool her head, thinking of how she felt guilty for doing it.

Adelaide was able to immerse herself in the novel without any difficulties. And yet something nagged at her, a sense of irritation that only made the girl fidget.

It was then that she peered over the book to gaze at the room, attempting to pinpoint exactly what that was making her so... distracted.

A high pitched scream entered her bubble of maintained quiet and disrupted her searching. With great annoyance, Adelaide cast her gaze to the female creating the noise. It was a girl she had no relations with.

Which made it worse for her, seeing as Adelaide saw it fit only to be interrupted by those of importance. Not measly things like that. Still skimming the words of her novel, Adelaide rose.

I'm going to give her a piece of my mind, the girl mused, teeth clenched.

For some particular reason, the girl was feeling rather bold today. It was mostly due to the fact that Ellie had been a nuisance coupled with Adelaide's laziness when it came to removing the mouse from her.

"Every day with you is an adventure I never wanted. Like swimming naked through shards of glass," she quoted heatedly. (8-Bit Theater by Brian Clevinger).

Ellie nipped her, and in response, Adelaide let out an exasperated sigh.

With a swish of her uniform, Adelaide stood directly in the path the noise-maker was in. A single hand lowered, her eyes narrowed in what seemed to be a glare that would no doubt be too obvious not to notice.

"You there," she stated. Her hand rose to point her ink stained finger towards the unknown girl. It was an odd sight, a girl whose face was blocked by a blue novel, her eyes peeking over the brim in irritation. Adelaide slammed the book shut, making an audible sound.

She struggled to properly place the book in her bag before whipping up her head to face her once more.

Her hair blocked some of her face by this time and a yawn nearly escaped her mouth.

"Please," she said sleepily. "Keep it down."

Awaiting a reply from Alexander.

SidneySidney was caught incredibly off guard by the assault on his person. Isabella's sudden backhand knocked his hand out of his hair as he jerked backwards with the impact. If not for the sudden rallying of his comrades he would have fallen off the bench, so unprepared for the attack as he was. His ear was ringing from the impact, but he could definitely hear the angry comments being hurled from his small group towards his feminine attacker. He might've stood up for her too, told them to knock it off and maybe even leave just to avoid any more hassle. Of course that was all definitely wishful thinking and perhaps even just him trying to make himself more of a good guy in the situation though he doubted he truly deserved the slap. However, just as he was looking up at his old friend, his hand pressed to his red and stinging cheek, she hurled a silencing charm at him and he could only glare angrily as she stalked off.

His friends shouted after her, not withholding the slurs Sidney had deigned wrong to use against her. One of them had the smarts to assist him, and took a moment to use a counter charm to undo the silence spell. As grateful as Sidney was to have the ability to speak again he found it slightly ironic. He didn't plan on talking much anyway. His cheek was raging with pain from her slap and he wanted desperately to get some ice or something. He knew he had plenty of time- enough to spare anyway- to go to the boy's bathroom and use some cool water to sooth the slapped cheek.

He was just ready to excuse himself when he saw yet another commotion, some girl he didn't know or recognize confronting Isabella. He gave a humph which betrayed his feelings towards the issue, smugly satisfied that Isabella was getting some due. However, that didn't solve any of his problems and he figured that, since he knew his new adversary well, this new girl was in for a ride. Especially since Isabella was in a rage. He was half standing, his hands on the edge of the table as he watched, unsure of whether to leave or stay and watch. It might be best if he stayed out of it but the drama about to ensue might be entertaining.

Sidney sat down though, gingerly touching his cheek as he looked at Isabella. The sorting would start soon, the first years gathered outside would be filing in and he didn't want to miss Susanna. And also he was just irritated enough at Isabella that the opportunity to see someone confront her nursed his affronted temper and quickly souring mood. This was not how he wanted his school year to start. When had things become so difficult?

"Chin up, back straight, shoulders width apart, feet together!" Those words echoed in her mind as her eyes drifted towards the scenery of the forest. She had given the boys her full attention, however, the atmosphere was tense as ever. Natalie only nodded in return to their answers but internally sighed. She surely did not miss the tenseness in the some of the Slytherin house, especially if some of the elitist could be "stick in the muds", nicknames that she liked to call and associate them with. It was rare for the young Slytherin girl to get along with her housemates. Natalie didn't really care much to venture into the reason why she wasn't liked and believed it only had to do with the other person. But, her thoughts drifted again as she looked towards the Thestral, a small smiling making her way on her lips. She was comfortable in the carriage and wanted to make the most of it. Oh, if only Satyr could see those winged beings pulling the carriages now. She thought to herself as she admired those horses in awe. It was picture perfect.

Soon enough the carriages and the boats arrived at Hogwarts. Natalie's eyes widened in delight as she couldn't wait to step into the castle and find her best friend Adelaide. Once the carriages was close to a stop, Natalie was about to say good-bye towards her housemates, but they had gotten off before her. Tilting her head to the side, Natalie knew she'd see them at the tables and hurried along after the rest of those who were going inside deciding to greet them later if there was ever a chance again. As Natalie turned the corner, she heard Professor McGongall greeting the first years as the professor lead them inside the castle. A small giggle escaped her lips when she heard some screams from the first years. She knew they must've met the ghost that haunted Hogwarts.

As Natalie reached the Great Hall, she stood to the side, taking a deep breathe. She observed her surroundings and she couldn't help but realized her eyes went directly towards Oliver Nott. With a some excitement, Natalie was about to make her way over to greet him only to be stopped by the appearance of Troy Sumner. Furrowing her brows, Natalie found herself intrigued by the situation. She knew that Oliver and Troy would be up to "no good" whenever they were together. However, something seemed different between the two. Had something happen? Natalie was as curious as ever, afterall, those two were the star Duelist of their houses, practically sort of celebrities that her classmates would watch for the "liveliness" and "drama". With them, nothing was ever dull.

But, Natalie's attention seemed to drift off once more as she saw two similar silhouettes sitting at the Ravenclaw table. Chris and Alex! She thought to herself as she smiled giddily. Natalie absolutely enjoyed their company, especially knowing that her best friend was also in their house. She honestly loved floating to their table every chance she got despite the scornful looks that her elitist housemates would give her. Oliver, on the other hand, and some that agreed with his ideas didn't mind her actions. And honestly, she was grateful.

Soon, Natalie's eyes scanned the Great Hall once more before she heard a slap and a scream from a voice that belonged to her housemate. Turning her attention towards the commotion, Natalie looked over, seeing Sidney with reddened cheeks. Furrowing her brows, Natalie couldn't help but wonder why he was slapped only for her eyes to land on Isabelle and Adelaide. Blinking back another surprise, Natalie couldn't help but let out a giggle. So, it was Isabelle's screaming voice. Perhaps she slapped him too? But, before Natalie could observe and analyze anymore, Natalie made her way over towards her annoyed best friend, pulling on her arm.

"Adelaide, it has only been a few minutes since we arrived. Are we going to cause trouble already? I have much to tell you about and I know you would love to hear it!" She teased her best friend before smiling at her, nodding. Soon Natalie's attention was towards Isabelle, "Bonjour, I hope everything is okay." Natalie greeted her politely before Natalie nudged Adelaide's arm, signaling her to follow her. However, Apollo, Natalie's cat, on the other hand, decided to jump up delicately on-top of the table and mewed for the three girl's attention.

Sniffling once, Adelaide slid her gaze over to Natalie. The girl had entered cheerful as ever, nearly oblivious to the amount of inner writhing Adelaide was experiencing.

In the corner of her eye, she witnessed a rather red faced Slytherin rise and promptly sit down again. Adelaide nodded her head to him, as if silently saying good. She was in no mood for any more interruptions.

"I'm not causing trouble," Adelaide stated simply, almost brushing aside her upfront confrontation. "This, this - Isabelle - made me get up and tend to her. She interrupted my book."

The student rummaged through her bag to pull out the novel. There were so many of them that the she had a bit of difficulties seeing in such a dark bag. Adelaide huffed, giving up on the task before turning her head to Natalie. Irritation was laced on her countenance, lips contorted into a frown.

"I would not mind hearing about it," Adelaide corrected the girl.

"But I have things to do, like..." she looked around. "Like read. Yes, read. Which brings me back to what I was attempting to say earlier! Isabelle was incredibly obnoxious," Adelaide complained.

Only few things ever truly permeated Adelaide's thick veil of indifference. Most prominent would be the interruption of her reading or just plain loud noise. It seemed to her that Isabelle had inflicted both. It was not tolerated.

The girl tilted her neck. "She cannot be let off that easily," she protested as Natalie gave her a slight nudge.

A heated glare was sent towards her cat, Apollo.

"Everything will be fine soon, but I'm half tempted to cast a silencing spell on the weasel." The girl humphed, awaiting Isabelle's response.

"Oh, I would rather you not," Chase rolled his eyes. Alexander causing Amelia to have yet another reckless crush on the man would be havoc. And around Christmas? He shook his head in protest.

"She appreciates you efforts too much," he muttered.

But his attention was brought to the man once more, this time fully gazing at Alexander. It seemed he would finally get his story.

Chase tilted his head, curiosity filling his mind to the brim. It ought to be a good story, gauging Alexander's raised brow.

The dopey grin that escaped Alexander's mouth caused Chase quite a large grin. And he tuned in without saying much for the first portion of the story.

The descriptions left him in awe, mouth open just a tad as he chuckled, cocked his head, and murmured admirably at the carefully woven tale.

He couldn't contain his laughter as Alexander described their first one on one encounter. It seemed so fitting for the man and yet so odd.

"A real charmer with that stutter," he teased. But he was soon listening intently once more.

"Steamy," Chase whistled nervously as Alexander recollected his intimate moments. The story was wonderful, and the end brought Chase melancholy.

"It's a shame she couldn't come with you," he sighed.

"But then again, meeting the woman who has made you dopey and mad in the head seems a but too terrifying."

He gazed at Reiko's newly revealed eyes, surprise and delight tinging the edges of his upturned lips. A chuckle ensued after the notion of 'a thousand years of pain' was described.

"Satisfies me for now," he quipped, emphasizing 'for now'. "It's a wonderful tale but I doubt I'll ever find the one."

He laughed to himself. "I already do some pretty odd things. What defines out of the box for me?"

Isabella stood there in shock at the girl talking to her, she was already annoyed enough and the girl's stupid comment didn't make it any better. She decided to take a more scary yet calm approach to the situation, she placed her hand on the girl's shoulder and sat down next to her. "Hey there friend...." Isabella's face changed completely to a more deadly one, one that Sidney knew all too well. "You better learn your place here if you haven't already, I will gladly knock your sorry ass straight out of this school back to your mother who I'm sure will nurture you anyway and do all she could to make you feel happy. So shut your mouth before I shut it for you!" She decided to make the last statement a big deal to help bring her point across.

Bella didn't care much for the sorting ceremony anyway so she sat back down in her seat completely ignoring her friend giving an apologetic smile to the unknown girl that Bella had just attacked. She laid her arm out and rested her head on top before closing her eyes and falling asleep ignoring everyone around her.

The sorting ceremony was one of Minnie's favorite things about the start of every new school year. She loved watching how nervous all the little first years were, how wide and round their eyes became when they entered the Great Hall (unaware of just how magical it all really was), and whether or not they were excited to be a part of the house they were sorted into. It seemed only yesterday she was there, waiting to be sorted herself. She remembered the moment the hat had shouted Ravenclaw. She knew she had been excited, despite it not being her family's house. Ravenclaw had always felt like home. She sat at the Ravenclaw table, deep in thoughts ranging from the Sorting to merpeople.

And the Gryffindor table was in an uproar as per usual. It seemed the table that held all the brave and chivalrous souls of the house was almost always finding something to laugh or shout loudly about. Sometimes, there wasn't even anything, everyone was just shouting about nothing. That was Ethan's favorite, it was just chaotic and loud. At this exact moment, Ethan was attempting to unnoticeably wave his wand under the table and mumble a jinx under his breath to make part of the bench disappear right under a second year. But, it was proving to be a little trickier than he thought it would be because he couldn't seem to keep his eye on the second year long enough, what with everyone moving about...

As Adelaide had explained her reason for her irritation, Natalie tilted her head to the side, looking between her best friend and her housemate. Tapping her chin, Natalie thought up of different scenarios of whether this would go down pleasantly or not. However, with each scenarios, it all came up the same, someone would be getting in trouble or worse, expelled. Natalie knew her best friend wouldn't jeopardize her education, much less be expelled or in trouble for something not worth fretting over. But, if there was one thing she learned about her good friend, it was the fact she had a short fuse when it came to being disturbed by her book.

Taking Adelaide's bag, Natalie fumbled around inside, trying to find the book Adelaide was looking for. However, just this scenario reminded her of how the two of them became friends. It was quite a scene, really, in the library, of course. But, in the end, surprisingly, the girls became fast friends, usually researching together or finding new materials to indulge in with each other in the comforts of silence. However, when Adelaide mentioned silencing her cat, Natalie laughed softly, "I would wish you could do that. Apollo can be a little over-the-top and quite hard to manage. It would certainly put him in his place I would believe." She finished before, rummaging through Adelaide's back on the far off side once more only to find the book she had been looking for. Raising the book in the air, Natalie smiled, "Is this the book? I would not have expected less from you." She grinned softly before saying, "Shall we find a quiet place to read then?"

However, before Natalie turned to find a spot somewhere much more quieter in the Hall, Isabella ended up snapping right back at Adelaide. With a raised brow, Natalie frowned at the manners the young woman was displaying, regardless of being a housemate or not, especially when she placed her head back down on the table, refusing to talk to anyone nor make amends. Tapping her chin, Natalie furrowed her brows, hearing the threat come out of her housemate's lips. Usually Natalie would let bygones be bygones, however, Natalie was already having enough issues containing her sensitivity and emotional since she first got on the train. So, Natalie spoke up for her friend, "I do not believe any of the professors would approve of this "knocking your sorry ass out of here". I would safely assume they would take yours and my good friend here, expelled from Hogwarts if any trouble should arise. And the only one's to blame is the indifference and situation here at hand. So, before that should happen, we will bid you adieu and I hope you enjoy your rest the rest of your last year." Natalie finished before humming nonchalantly a random song, waiting on Adelaide.

"Ravenclaw!" The Sorting Hat shouted out and Rufus smiled. The hat wasn't sure in which house to put Rufus, but finally it had decided and Rufus was happy about it. The Hat had been taken of his head by miss McGonagall and Rufus walked over to his brothers at the cheering Ravenclaw table. When he walked past the other students a girl smiled at him, Rufus didn't knew her but he smiled back.He was put in his family house and he still couldn't believe it, it was so awesome. His journey at Hogwarts started right now and couldn't stop thinking about all the awesome things he was going to learn the coming years. He would make friends for life, but also enemies, Rufus hoped not much of the latter.
His brothers had decided that they would sit at the near end of the Ravenclaw table, so Rufus needed to walk past nearly all of the Ravenclaw students who all greeted them. The most of them would probably forget his name when the next few students were sorted into Ravenclaw
original.jpg

Alex jumped in the air when he heard the Hat shouting the name of the house his brother would be in, his House. The table cheered and clapped loudly as they welcomed their new housemate. Alex gave a high-five to Rufus as his little brother sat down between him and Chris. As the next student was going to be sorted Alex noticed some commotion at the table next to his, the Slytherin Table. A girl and a boy were fighting, and then another girl joined the fight right after the boy seemed to back-off. He looked at Chris, he knew his older brother wouldn't tolerate any troubles during the sorting ceremony. He noticed his brothers view was fixed at the sorting ceremony. Did Alex need to say something to his brother? Probably, because the fight was probably getting worse.
Alex poked his older brother in his side "Yo Chris, look at the Slytherin table, trouble"

Chris clapped loudly when his little brother joined his former House. He had been watching the sorting ceremony with interest, not noticing the things that happened around him. He was in some sort of trance fixed at the sorting hat. The trance was broken by Alex poking in his side "Hey little, watch out" Chris blurted out, but after hearing Alex he looked over to the Slytherin table behind them. Chris walked over to the girls who were causing trouble "So, you three follow me please" He looked at the girls "Adelaide, Natalie and Isabella"
Then Alex pointed at another guy at the Slytherin table "Sidney, you come too" Chris added. He stood there, looking at the students, waiting for their reaction

Adelaide watched unflinchingly as Isabelle retaliated, her words doing nothing to pierce the girl's dull mind. The girl stalked off, setting her head on the table. Turning to Natalie, Adelaide nodded, grabbing the book from her hand. "Useless fly," she muttered beneath her breath, shooting a glare towards Isabelle. She unclenched her teeth, wanting no longer to bother in such nuisances. It was a waste of energy, something Adelaide had little of. She also had little patience for those that interrupted her peace. Adelaide tugged on Natalie before taking a step forward.

She wanted to sit at the table and listen casually to Natalie as she read. But alas, more and more obstacles were coming in between her way. Chris, the teaching assistant had made his way over, requesting them to follow. His cloak swished behind him—Merlin's beard, could she not be left alone? Adelaide crossed her arms, book in hand and looked at the man. Her gaze was scrutinizing, focused on appearing as uncaring and annoyed as possible. She rolled her brown eyes. "Is there a reason for needing to follow you?" Adelaide took a sharp breath. "I don't believe I did anything wrong."

Chase rolled his eyes before nodding. He would entertain Alexander's dreams of being a godfather for the time being. But honestly, his hopes for one were drained. Chase watched as the man wrote excitedly to Reiko, his quill scribbling and curving to create words. He only glimpsed the word, 'badass' as the letter was finished. "How many of those do you write?" He asked, humor tickling his words.

Turning towards Alex, he furrowed his brow. "No one as of now," he said. "Although I'm not looking very hard."

As Alexander leaned in for his last comment, Chase could not help but laugh aloud. "Aren't you too old to pry in my nonexistent love life?"

SidneySidney had been focused on the spat between the girls, his hand still pressed futilely against his cheek. Luckily the pain was beginning to abate, he wasn't sure that it wasn't still bright red though. As Sidney tried to listen to both the Sorting, not wanting to miss Susanna, and ignore but still listen to the fight between Isabella and the girl he didn't recognize, who thanks to Natalie he knew was Adelaide. As he overheard the insults the two were sharing, specifically Adelaide, Sidney groaned to himself.

Sidney was almost prepared to focus back on the Sorting, the rest of the Slytherin table, anything when another person approached. He groaned even more when Chris called his name out too. The cluster of boys around him started to riot at that, moving to defend their pure blood housemate. Sidney stiffened, his face turning more red from the angry and embarrassed blush under neath the remnants of Isabella's slap.

Standing and telling his group to keep quiet he stood at his place for a moment, his body going still as he tried to decide who to glare at before sullenly moving to join the group. Presumably they were going to an office or some such place for a stern lecture and loss of house points. Or, like Natalie said, expulsion. Sidney moved to avoid the two largest problems in the group, being the girl who slapped him and the unknown one who yelled at her. That left him with Natalie, so he fell in beside her, standing on her right which meant his slapped cheek was visible. He didn't speak, but gave her a look of apology and annoyance. He perhaps deserved his spot here but Natalie had just been working on breaking the fight up.

  • Zephyrus notices a group of students, both older and younger, standing up and being directed by an older male, probably a teacher. He didn't bother standing up and approaching for it was not his problem and it didn't involve his friends. Thus he returns to the conversation around him and to his actions before the interruption.

╔ ΞBΞNΞZΞR ASH ╗

When his name was called, it took Ebenezer a minute to realize why everyone was searching for a first year to step forward. His mother Cressida waved at him urgently but not so subtly. Tinged pink, he muttered "oh" and stepped forward. He wandered over to the Sorting Hat, wary of its singing voice and lack of hands. Still, it was a hat. Perhaps it would know his overheating mind better than himself.

When the hat was placed, he felt it animate to life, quite wiggling down onto his head. He could not hide his racing thoughts. He thought of nothing but curses, ghosts, darkness, power, and secrecy. It was already clear to Ebenezer where he wanted to go, and he thought it coldly too: Give me Slytherin. Nothing else but Slytherin.

"Nothing else, eh?" said a small voice in Ebenezer's mind. "Your mother has been hoping for the same thing for years," it noted. The Hat bent down to look at Ebenezer once before nodding its pointed tip in affirmation.

"Well, if you're sure. Better be-" It opened its mouth wide. "SLYTHERIN!" the Hat exclaimed, loud enough for the whole hall to hear. The Slytherin table instantly erupted in applause and cheers. Professor McGongall gave a knowing smile, first to Cressida and then to Ebenzer, as she lifted the Hat off his head and gestured for him to join his new school family.

As he made his way to a seat at Slytherin's table, students patted Ebenezer on the back and gave him kind words of welcome. Even Marcus Flint, who had been seated near the front of the table, gave Ebenezer a gruff handshake of acceptance. The Bloody Baron floated down momentarily from his spot above the house table to give Ebenezer a regal bow.

Ben pretended he understood the Slytherins when they cheered a barrage of words at him, hoping one of them wasn't a spell. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, to his relief. He was simply welcomed like any other student who could hear. He looked over to his mother. Cressida gave him a brief nod of approval, yet looking amazed.

╔ CRΞSSIDA ASH ╗

Slytherin. Her son goes to her house; that awakened something in her. One might say it even made her feel more alive. With Professor McGonagall's knowing smile, Cressida felt wonderful but even then, a darkness fell upon her the longer she dwelled on Ben's fate.

This happy scene scared her then, thinking of Marvolo's curse. And other dark crafts lying around in wait on campus. She would go to him but the fear stopped her. Ben's squinty eyes, distracted with a nearby bicker, his wincing smile, dropped when a professor approached. Cressida returned to the present, realizing Chris was summoning HER house students to a meeting. If this is about house points, honestly how petty. Wait... She then contradicted herself, realizing how house points can affect Ben.

"Excuse me professor," she said to Chris popping up at his side and haunting them. With a quizzical look at Adelaide, Natalie, Isabela, and Sidney, she noticed his slapped face. Immediately, she looked at the girls with a pointed how-dare-you-cost-us-house-points look.

"What happened here?!"

SidneySidney was startled for the second time his night. His eyes widening at the ghost professor appeared before them. He looked embarrassedly at his feet, feeling her gaze on them. The professor made him nervous and he was grateful that she was his houses' ghost but that didn't make her any less terrifying to him. His cheek felt slightly swollen but mostly just red, but it felt even worse when he felt Professor Ash look him over.

He continued to keep his eyes submissively low to the ground as she looked at the girls, asking for explanation. Sidney went still, waiting for the others to act, biting his lip as his emotions raised the color in his cheeks. If he kept this up his lip would be bloody from biting it, and his hair was already looking like he just woke up. Over all he felt extremely upset by his circumstances and he wanted this to be over. He wanted to see his sister sorted and because of Isabella and her petty grudge against him now a group of them were getting it

Before Natalie turned around on her own accord, following Adelaide to a different area of the Great Hall, she heard footsteps approaching them. Turning her body to look at the person, Natalie furrowed her brows slightly, seeing it was none other then Chris. Hearing that not only her name, but her best friend, Isabella, and Sidney's name being called to follow him, Natalie stood there, slightly stunned. "And here comes a premonition. . ." She thought to herself, wanting to avoid trouble only for them to get "caught".

However, Natalie agreed with Adelaide. They have done nothing wrong. If asking someone to tone it down to not disturb not only someone when they're focused on their reading but also the ceremony, would a scolding need to happen? Tilting her head to the side, Apollo jumped off the table and mewed next to Natalie's foot. The young Seer was confused, indeed. But, feeling a presence to her right, Natalie looked over, only to see Sidney and his reddened cheeks. She felt an itch to find a wet cloth and place it over his face, or perhaps an egg to bring the swelling down but decided not to as there were more "important" matters at hand. Seeing Sidney's look of annoyance and look of apology, Natalie gave a nod and a soft smile, shaking off any misunderstandings and previous actions they may have had.

But, as the ghost professor, Cressida appeared. Natalie bit her lips, feeling nervous. She knew the glare that was pointed directly towards her and her housemates. If her aunt found out about this, she would definitely have her head for "tainting" the Slytherin name.

"One is enough, two is too much. . ." Natalie muttered and whispered to herself, knowing that Sidney, Adelaide, and Isabella could hear her small comment. Speaking up, Natalie took a deep breathe, "Good evening, Professors. We apologize for the disturbances we caused for this evening. However, may I ask that we take this out of the Great Hall?" She questioned politely before lowering her voice, "The students around us are staring and I believe this will cause a small scene to become bigger than it supposedly is if we stay any longer." Natalie admitted, not before picking up Apollo in her arms, wondering what would happen next and if she should try to predict the outcome.

Looking towards Professor Cressida, Natalie didn't dare impolitely stare or speak rudely to her, or rather any of the TA's, however, she responded briefly, "There was a small misunderstanding between us, but I believe we have put aside our differences and were all well going on our way." Chances are they may lose some house points, but maybe they didn't. . . . only if perhaps everyone banded together to change the minds of the professors before them.

Sartorious Warbeck: 4th year Hufflepuff
He wasn't up for much at the moment least not earlier. But as old memories of his first year came to mind while he watched the newbies join the school in a more official capacity with the ceremony and all. The more some of his pals from Hufflepuff began to coax him out of his quiet and looking to get him going, despite the fact he was no performer yet he was feeling like one with one of the guys asking him to try that routine he and he being Sartorious, joked about at the end of last year. Saying he had plenty of time to practice during the offseason, boy...... was he wrong.

But never let it be said that Sartorious wasn't a sport about such things. He always did like making people laugh even at his own expense as long as it was reasonable, no need to completely destroy a reputation with some over the top and silly, unless he had already. Well maybe in his own house, other houses were a mystery of how he came acrossed, since he wasn't part of the houses outside his own.

Giving a shrug and small grin, shaking his head while looking down for a bit to get himself ready. There was a odd side to Sartorious's life and that didn't even begin with his family history which was strange in its self, you see growing up there was no TV and sitcoms to watch, just old records from his fathers collection of muggle performers in different sub genres in the entertainment business. They were old timers, he loved listening to Dean Martin and hearing some of the older era comedians that were on his pops list of acts or library he should say of records.

It left little room for much else in ones free time, especially as the kid not yet old enough to attend Hogwarts, still wasn't able to use magic without the ministry throwing a fit about it. So that left Sartorious listening to his fathers old records and trying to impersonate each singer and comedian he could, didn't mean he could sing mind you... Just found himself able to sound like those he heard on the radio and record player, spending a lot of time practicing their voices and routines.

Which led to his mothers mind getting ideas, she taught him how to dance those old numbers and kept him busy alright..... She was a master at keeping Sartorious out of trouble and busy when he wasn't in school.

So while some of the Hufflepuffs gathered around him, least those closest to him as to avoid taking the attention away from the ceremony and first years. Sartorious began to look up and set his facial expression to match those who he'd aim to impersonate and started on his routine, telling jokes and using a different voice to sound like one of those old comedians he used to listen to growing up and still did when he had the time.

Before long he switched mid routine and alternated to another impression looking to keep up the momentum and not let himself get caught in a cycle and run out of Material with that impression.

Soon he was laughing right along with those around him, conversing for a bit, before quietly excusing himself and acting like he had a run to make. He didn't want to seem rude with a ceremony going on, but he did feel like some air and checking on Tuck.

Quietly and mindful of the Professors and especially the headmaster, Sartorious got up from his houses table and slipped out of the room as unnoticeable as possible.

Now walking down the halls with a watchful eye as he turned down on hall and then on toward the next looking for Tuck. He knew his owl was likely going out of his mind being couped up in his cage for so long. It seemed like the ceremony was doing fine and a good time, to check on Tuck and let him out to spread his wings before curfew.

Finding his owls cage Sartorious smiled and greeted Tuck with a nod, before opening the cage door and letting him out. "AW... there you are Tuck. Thought you might need some air, how was your trip?" Sartorious spoke with petting underneath Tucks beak and listening to the owl respond. Sounding a bit more playful and like himself now that he was free of the cage again.

Isabella woke up feeling a set of eyes on her and looked around before seeing the professor her face going a little red out of embarrassment her actions almost copying Sidney's by looking down at the floor, playing with the hem of her skirt mumbling an apology under her breath. Hearing Natalie's comments made her a little more annoyed, she hated little suck ups like her but Bella didn't want to do something that she would regret so tried to calm her temper, "Maybe if others minded their own business and didn't doom themselves then there wouldn't be a problem." She mumbled it to herself but maybe a little too loud her friend elbowing Isabella's side, she tried to hold in the groan. She really needed to calm down before she does something else, she already knew that her mother would hear about this and god knows what she would do.
