"The eternal ice of Cocytus has frozen my heart solid- dead. My path is shrouded in a thick blanket of snow, alas, I know not where it ends." Faust Windfallow |
Name: Faust Windfallow
Aliases: Raven-Masked Magus, Vault Keeper, 'Weird Bird'
Age: 394 Well, I was 17 when I 'died'.
Gender: Male
Race: Elder Lich
Class: Necromancer / Sorcerer
Personality: The first word that comes to mind when describing Faust would be, well, a fucking idiot. Despite being one of the oldest members of the Guild, Faust acts rather immature for his age, and constantly fools around. He has no regard for language, and a constant stream of blasphemy constantly pours out from between his teeth. He very rarely takes on jobs, and his happy-go-lucky and carefree attitude constantly gets him, and any guild-mates he's with in deep shit, though more likely than not, he can get them out of a pickle just as easily.
However, Faust is fully capable of being slightly serious, even if it were for a brief moment. He hides his real voice as to not scare people when he has to do talking, though he does sometimes enjoy creeping people out with his real voice. When in combat, Faust is completely ruthless, to the point somebody might question if he is the same person that sits under that tree in the courtyard. Of course, once shit's over, he's back to being the same old idiot. He refers to himself as the vault-keeper, and rarely acknowledges his own ranking of Master, claiming that of all things he is, 'inspiration' is not one of them.
Now on to the very sensitive subject of women. As a human, Faust never had any chance with a girlfriend or women for that matter. He would absolutely have nothing to do with a woman, because of reasons unknown. Some of his colleagues joked that he had a phobia for women, which was somewhat the case. Centuries have numbed this, Faust still has a habit of fleeing or freezing himself into an ice-block whenever a woman tries to hug or come into any physical contact with him. It isn't out of embarrassment or anything, according to him. It's just an 'old habit.' Thank god the few people who actually know of his 'habits' have died of age or other reasons...
Sexuality: AsexualFor the most part
High Concept: That one worthless character that turns out to be an insanely overpowered secret boss.
Character Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Organizations\Affiliations: Guild of Heroes - Master, Vault-Keeper
You know, I've been around for a while. I've seen great heroes wither and die, and I've seen villains rise and defeated. This accursed immortality isn't a blessing- everything will eventually become boring. Why haven't I committed suicide yet, you ask? Well, who the fuck is going to guard the vault otherwise, huh? You think you're a genius? Well, you're not.
You've all heard the cliche story before. A child born into a family with not even enough food to sustain themselves, then the said child is discovered to have an aptitude for something, and then said child taken away because they have some valuable gift. It's all quite a boring story, really. Faust was just a human sorcerer and planned on wasting his numbered days away. He didn't have a family, not anymore at least, and he had become bored of fighting. In his spare time, he'd sometimes dabble into certain magic that was completely and utterly forbidden. It was not out of ill-intent, but rather boredom. The thrill of doing something that was not allowed and trying his all to not get caught.
Of course, even Faust knew Necromancy was an extremely dangerous magic, and even if he were some sorcerer, it was best to leave it alone. During one long all-nighter, Faust decided to read out an incantation. Any sane person would have just stopped before reading the last syllable, but Faust decided to go through with it- although he was not too clear what it was meant to do, the old tome did specify that it was a spell that affected the caster. Of course, still dangerous, but Faust had completely stopped caring by that time.
He read out the incantation- yet nothing happened. Faust waited several more seconds, and yet nothing. Sighing, Faust placed his hand on the tome, and it began glowing dark scarlet, before the light faded. He wasn't exactly sure what had happened, and neither had he felt anything off. Unbeknownst to him, by some stupid luck, he had somehow bound his soul into the old tome, and created his own phylactery, which both should require a very elaborate ritual and a proper phylactery. There were several factors in this equation that made it so tht Faust's luck would have had to been considered godly; firstly, the ritual varies from person to person. It is almost impossible to tutorial your way into a lich, let alone do it with a simple incantation. Second, even if the ritual was perfect, the chances of it succeeding would be quite slim, and even moreso without a proper, crafted phylactery. But of course, Faust didn't care too much.
Eventually, Faust started to become sickly pale, and his actions were discovered. He was not only kicked out of the city of Fairfax, but exiled from Albion altogether, and left in the Desolation. He spent five decades in the underground of the desolation, where the ancient tome that housed his soul grew into a grimoire of magic, both deadly and vile. The Arcanecrylhik became a record of hundreds of spells, rituals, and dark magic, specifically Necromancy. The original pages of the old tome were attached to the newer elven tome.
Though dark magic corrupted and twisted his soul to the point that it was no longer recognizable as human, Faust still remained the same, for some strange reason. His personality remained completely unchanged, even though his soul had become so twisted. He joined the Guild of Heroes, under a set of extremely strict conditions. During the years with the Guild, Faust's soul had been corrupted to the point he had become an Elder Lich, though he still remained unchanged. Only on very rare occasions, does he show his true nature. When it was realized that Faust had much more uses than just an adventurer, due to his status as undead. He was assigned as Vault Keeper because he does not require rest, therefore capable of guarding the vault with extreme efficiency. At first, Faust took his duty quite seriously, but over the centuries, Faust began to care less and less as he realized that this job was extremely boring, as nobody actually tried to break the vault. Now, he constantly complains about not being paid, although it was he who had declared that mortal currency was useless to him and that he didn't need pay.
Although he does take jobs from time to time, he generally lazes around in the courtyard and annoys other members until his presence is needed. Though Faust doesn't exactly try to hide it, not many members besides the Guild-Master and a few others actually know he's an Elder Lich. Most just assume he's a human sorcerer. An annoying one at that.
Height: 6'4
Weight: 37 lbs
Appearance: Underneath the cloak, Faust is just a human skeleton. He still uses his own skeleton, adding horns to himself is both too bothersome and impractical. If he needs to take on a more normal appearance, he uses illusion magic to cover up his face.
Weapons & Armor:
The Guillotine Scythe
Faust's signature weapon, the Guillotine Scythe is a huge scythe, made of silver with holy properties. The scythe measures 2 meters in length, which is even bigger than Faust himself, and quite heavy. Because is it imbued with the holy element, it is extremely effective against demons and undead alike, including Faust himself. Faust doesn't actually use it much, it's just for adding extra weight on him.
The Raven Mask
The metal mask Faust wears over his face, which earned him the nickname 'Raven-Masked Magus', or more commonly 'weird bird'. There's been speculation surrounding this particular item, some saying it holds some sort of unspeakable power. In reality, it's just a mask, though Faust hasn't said anything about that. Sometimes, stupid rumors come in handy.
The Arcanecrylhik
Faust's magic tome, which is locked inside the Guild Vault. It contains hundreds of spells, and forbidden knowledge, both illegal and inhuman. When the tome is unlocked, it greatly improves the flow of mana for the user, enhancing magical capabilities and mana greatly. That being said, the tome is locked, and Faust possesses a single, small green crystal- the key which opens the latches. The tome itself is of an Elven design.
Leather Cloak
Faust wears a leather and cloth cloak. While it's primary purpose is not protection, it is obviously sturdier than cloth 'armor'. The main purpose of Faust's cultist-esque clothing is to cover himself head to toe as to not cause a ruckus by walking around, because well, he's undead. And people don't exactly like the undead. Also, he chose the black cloak and all because it looks edgy as fuck.
Items & Personal Belongings:
-A few loose pieces of gold. Mortal currency is almost worthless anyways
Skills & Abilities:
· Lying- Faust's face is behind a mask, have fun trying to read his facial expression.
· Arguing- Believe me, don't try to start a fight with him.
· Building- He can build a wall...?
· Undead- Faust does not have basic body functions, which means Faust does not need to breathe, eat or sleep. Being undead also means he is immune to most mind control, and cannot feel pain under normal circumstances.
· Elder Lich- Being an Elder Lich, Faust has authority over lesser undead, unless they are under the control of another entity either on similar or higher power levels. Also, he cannot be killed unless his phylactery is destroyed.
· Regeneration- Injuries to Faust are nothing but a nuisance. Damage to his undead body such as broken bones heal themselves and a reomved head can be reattached. If Faust's vessel is completely and utterly destroyed either by being cut into tiny pieces, crushed to the point beyond repair or just completely destroyed, he will regenerate from his phylactery. The process will take anywhere between 12-72 hours. The regeneration time is lengthened depending if he was destroyed using holy magic or not, and how much radiant damage he had sustained.
Spells & Magic:
· Basic Elemental Magic- very basic elemental Faust learned when he was studying magic a very long time ago. Lighting fires, drying clothes instantly, blah blah
· Illusion Magic- Faust actually only conjures illusions to cover up his skeleton face when he needs to.
· Ice Shards- By collecting moisture in the air and freezing them with magic energy, spears of ice materialise in the air and can be fired at targets. More skilled mages can form the ice-shards into any shape they wish. This is Faust's bread and butter spell. He generally prefers to materialise his ice-shards into the shape of swords. Why, you ask? For badass points, only this and nothing more.
· Wall of Ice- Self-explanatory, summons a wall of ice
· Domain of The Frost Monarch- This spell creates a covers a large area over with a raging blizzard. Other being a complete nuisance to enemy forces, it gives Faust a huge amount of ice to work with, allowing him to throw an endless barrage of ice at his opponents. Those caught in Faust's domain for too long will undoubtedly freeze to death.
· Conquest of The Frost Monarch- Faust can only cast this spell while his domain is active. It disperses the blizzard the Domain summons, and fires a barrage of ice-swords down from the sky.
· Teleport- Self-explanatory, arcane energy phases the caster out of existence then phases them back into existence at a different location. Faust can teleport several people at once, though the spell has a long cast time.
· Point Null- By focusing arcane energy in one area, it creates a singularity which swallows objects into it, before spitting everything out once it collapses. A singularity lasts around five seconds.
· Mobius Arcanum- A singularity created through arcane magic, which travels in a straight trajectory, and everything that comes in contact with it is collapsed into the singularity. It travels 90 meters before imploding on itself.
· Summon Undead- A standard Necromancy spell, it revives corpses to carry out the caster's bidding. At Faust's level, he can resurrect creatures made with flesh and bones of several different creatures, and he can revive up to a dragon.
· Death & Decay- A wave of Necromantic energy is sent out in a wave, draining the life force and weakening targets which come in contact with it. Plant-life and any living creatures killed by this spell will decay to nothing in seconds.
· Domain of Hades- Faust is forbidden to use this spell unless special permission is given. The spell sends Necromantic energy through the ground, which resurrects all corpses which it comes in contact with. It has the potential to summon a huge army of undead when used under right circumstances, but the spell causes permanent damage to land it is cast on. There are certain corpses which cannot be resurrected such as dragons and wyverns.
· Wall of Death- The most powerful spell in Faust's arsenal, Faust is forbidden from cast it under any circumstances. It creates a moving wall of energy, which will either kill or severely weaken any living being it comes in contact with. The wall will drain all of the caster's mana to travel an initial 50 meters, and will travel even longer distances with every victim it kills. The toll that is required to cast the spell will indefinitely kill the Caster, including Faust.
Weaknesses:
-While Faust can't be completely killed with holy magic, it weakens him greatly, and causes him great pain
-While healing magic doesn't damage Faust, it inflicts pain.
-Faust has a weakness that all Liches share- if their phylactery is destroyed, they die immediately.
-Extremely lazy, he won't move his ass unless you have some sort of superpower that makes him give a shit.
-The Guildmaster (holy wet-nurse mother of a fucking love child between Satan and Beelzebub she's scary as fuck)
This report was written in response to concerns regarding the Raven Masked Magus, and the possibility that he should ever go out of control. This report will detail his battle strategies, countermeasures, and means of neutralising him.
Faust's general strategy when it comes to fighting somebody he has to kill involves icicles and firing them at a problem until its dead. Very often, he lacks any sort of adequate strategy and completely disregards his own safety- though this has minimal consequences due to his race. His basic spell-set is highly effective against large numbers of enemies, able to decimate a whole army of foot-soldiers. However, due to the massive destructive potential of his arcane spells, Faust has been forbidden to go all out with innocents around.
Faust, when unbound by rules, is an opponent that must be combatted with utmost caution and planning- Domain of The Ice Monarch can throw any army into disarray, before finishing swiftly with follow-up. To sum up, the Raven-Masked Magus is an extremely high-level threat due to sheer overwhelming firepower. His mana capacity is unknown at this point as fights have not been dragged to the point that he runs out. Due to the nature of his corrupted soul, it is estimated that he possesses 40-50 meridians, and possibly more. Furthermore, it is speculated that his tome, the Arcanecrylhik greatly enhances magic ability.
Faust is never to be approached in a magic duel, as any living mage will undoubtedly be overwhelmed in magic power. It should be noted that basic to mid-tier pyromancy does cannot stand against Faust's level of cryomancy, and in some occasions, it is speculated that even high-level pyromancy will struggle defending against him. Stereotypes which apply to the ice element must not be assumed.
Even though Faust excels at combatting large numbers and magical duels, traits due to being an elder lich makes hand-to-hand combat almost impossible to win, as physical injuries regenerate very quickly. While spellcasters generally lack physical bulk, Faust's physical strength is not to be underestimated. While lacking any form of discipline in martial arts, his ability to wield the Guillotine Scythe, which weighs 12 kg without much difficulty lifting it demonstrates the extent of his strength. This alone makes engaging him in close combat very unwise. Conventional methods such as assassins or snipers are almost completely ineffective.
While Faust expresses no ill-intent against mortalkind, the possibility of him becoming dangerous is still present. The primary issue is that even though he is an elder lich, Faust is still undead. While a necromancer powerful enough to control an elder lich has never been recorded before, it is still a threat that should be kept in mind. Other than there aren't many things that could cause Faust to turn against the Guild, unless he decides to himself, which while having voiced that he has no intent of doing so, should still be considered.
After the Arcanecrylhik was locked in the Guild vault, it has since been confirmed that it does indeed play a part in Faust's power level. It appears to enhance his mana capacity, a trait not uncommon among items wielded by wizards. It has since been determined that Faust possesses 112 meridians as of current, while it is fully possible that this number can change over time.
When combatting Faust, there are two primary methods to be considered. Holy magic is extremely effective against undead, and applies to him as well. Radiant damage can hinder his ability to regenerate, and large amount of damage can cause his undead body to disintegrate, and some damage will thereotically remain even after regeneration at phylactery. The second method involves a high-level anti-magic field. While most of the spells in Faust's arsenal can be disabled though the use of higher-medium-tier anti-magic, high tier antimagic will hinder Faust's ability to use his undead vessel, and immobilise him.
Of course, in the worst case scenario, the Guild is in possession of Faust's phylactery, which can be destroyed should the situation call for these measures. This concludes this report- while the Raven-Masked Magus is currently affiliated with the Guild, chances of him becoming an extremely dangerous foe is still present. Should information such as this be necessary, this report will be stored alongside many other texts within the Guild's archives.
