Realistic or Modern "Gifted"

park

The story book hero.
one day the sky lit up bright white. no one saw anything for only one minute. then the light went away and seemingly nothing changed. But it wasnt long before some individuals discovered they had supernatural powers ranging from telekenisis to shapeshifting even control over fire. and while there were not many affected, they called this new wave of young people the "gifted".

And while they where called gifted, they were not treated like it. Many turned to crime and vigilantie ways in pure rage for the way they were treated, some used there powers to earn respect among the people working for the police.

((I'm in a cafe called 'The Cup' so anyone can just swing by to interact with my character!))

"Table one!" The voice of the chef said, the bell ringing. A blonde girl on roller skates skated over to the desk with the open window, where a plate and a cup was standing. She put it on her round tray she held and made her way over towards table one. The girl then skated back to the desk where a new order stood. This girl, was Feather. She was busy taking someone's order when she was called over by the cashier. Feather apologized and made her way over, taking off her roller skates when she reached the cashier. She put on her normal shoes and smiled. "What's up Patrice?" The cashier looked a bit down, as usual. "You're getting a bonus.." Patrice said irritably, clearly meaning that only Feather was. Feather nodded. "Great." She said simply. "Table five!" Feather rolled her eyes and walked over to the desk, not bothering to put her skates on again.

Keith was hanging on a fire exit next to an apartment window, with red and black spray paint he was drawing the word "gifted" on the wall. he was almost finished when he heard, "hey you get down from there" two cops where looking up at him, batons in hand. as Keith smirked he dropped landing one foot one one cops face and pushing off. He ran down the alley opening the first door he saw. It opened up to a small kitchen where there was a man calling order numbers. then everyone looked at him. he quickly used the heat from the stove to create smoke, dashed over the counter and ran out the door knocking a blonde waitress to the side.

Feather fell as the boy pushed her away and growled. Without caring about everyone in the cafe, she ripped off her skates and rushed out the door, catching up to the guy. She knocked him down. "What the hell was that for!" She snapped. She rolled him over and growled. "You must be mad.." She muttered under her breath, shaking her head. Feather turned around and saw the cops. "Erm, get up.." She called over her shoulder before rushing off and up a fire escape on the side of a building. She knew the cops recognized her. "Hurry!" She called after the boy. Feather was fast and reached the roof in no time. She ran across and as she reached the end, she had no choice. She sprang into the air and jumped over the wide gap, landing firmly on the roof across to the one she had come from. She paused and looked back to the other roof, hoping the cops wouldn't catch... Hmm, them. "Wouldn't want anyone else getting caught either.." She thought, shrugging. @park

Kieth was used to this kind of thing, it was really only a mere game for him. he springs up 3 floors and climbs one more to reach the roof. He looks at the girl who was able to match his speed and instantly knows she too is one of the gifted. He says "your not a normal one are you, the cops don't like you much more then me and you can scale a 4 floor building in seconds" he snaps his fingers and and displays his fire powers by creating a small lighter like flame. "do you by any chance have a 'gift'?"

( @dragonair there are spots left just go to the character sign up tab at the top of the page)

Nim glanced briefly at the two people bound up to the roof with a grin on her face. More and more gifted were showing themselves everyday. She noticed an exceptionally happy young couple struggling to pose for a picture in front of a joke store and she happily walked over to them. "Need help? I can take the photo for you?" Smiling they nodded and she took the small camera. It was too old and small to make much, so she snapped the photo then went over to hand it back. While she was close she stealthily grabbed the wallet from the back pocket of the man's jeans then walked way. At a safe distance she opened the wallet and counted out one hundred dollars. She grinned and went on her way.

Ramis was annoyed. " I value my coffee more than I value these people's lives," he muttered as he stood at the vacant counter of the coffee shop. Everyone, still in shock at the event that had just transpired, had sucked all of the air out of the room. He looked down and a wicked smile curled across his lips. A single ring pierced through the silence. " I'm still waiting" he states clearly.

Luna sat on the edge of a rooftop, she smiled to herself when she saw someone steal from another. She looked to her side to see others jumping from roof to roof but she looked jnfront if her like it was none of her bussiness. Even of the suspision was gonna kill her ,she couldn't draw attention herself or it would lead to another disaster with cops and she has dealt with them enough.

Elizabeth was in a bad situation. She was pointing a gun at one of her friends while he pointed a gun at her at the same time with a bag of money in his other hand. "Look, we don't have to kill each other for this score. We just have to give him the money and walk away with our share" Elizabeth said trying to calm him down. She didn't want to kill him and use her powers against him, she had seen enough action after robbing a small jewellery store after the owner stole from them. "I'm sick of tired of this crap ok? I will take this money and I don't care if I have to kill you to do it." Her friend said as he pulled the trigger but missed and gave Elizabeth enough time to shoot him and take the bag of money. She arrived to the alley where she was supposed to give her boss the money a few minutes later and when she saw her boss she threw the bag at him and waited for her pay. "Good job girl. Here's your cut" the man said and gave Elizabeth five hundred dollars. As soon as Elizabeth grabbed the money, she saw some cops approaching and ran to a coffee shop. She quietly opened the door and tried to act as natural as possible.

Nim noticed the transaction between the two people and walked past like she didn't notice it. She let out a laugh as the police separated to chase the different groups of criminals. The cops would have a lot of work ahead of them if they were to catch a criminal around here. She glanced at the tittle of the coffee shop that the action seemed to be revolving around and decided that she would grab some food there. She walked into the door and stood behind the guy at the counter. "No need to be so grouchy there pal. Looks like this place is busy today."

"The place wouldn't be busy if the service was worth a damn," Ramis replied hastily. After turning around however he could sense the power radiating from her. She was mistreated enough as a gifted, she didnt need a smart remark to top it off. " I'm sorry. I'll be on my way" he turned to leave the shop in his quest for caffeine.

She shrugged. "There's no need to rush off. I mean, they're bound to serve soon. I mean, look at all of the people pouring into here. Hey look, there's someone right there." She gestured to a waitress that had just come out of the kitchen. "Good things come to those who are patient."

"I'm not one to preach good things to." He turned around and looked at the girl, smiling at the irony of not knowing the truth behind people. "However I am one you can preach coffee to. Let me apologize for my rudeness, what do you want?" He beckoned towards the menu.

Luna got up from the rooftop and hopped into the coffee shop roof. Hanging down with only her feet hanging on she peeked inside and watched what the normal people were doing.

"We all have our secrets." She gestured to the girl that had casually walked in. "She ran in here to get away from the cops after she had a little 'transaction'. There were two others that are running from the cops who jumped up onto the roof. To get by in this city you need to have a bit of awareness to your surroundings." She pulled out the stolen wallet. "It's okay, I have some money."

"No please I insist" he said, pulling out his wallet. He brought out a crisp 20. As he slid it out a small paper cut made him jolt back in surprise. He went to just shake his hand to ease the pain but his magic got the better of him. A small invisible force made an audible crack as it knocked the service bell and the recipt wracking off of the counter, causing the papers to drift half heartedly to the floor. He sighed. "Indeed we must have our secrets." He mumbled, leaving the twenty on the counter, along with the awestruck stares in the store As he walked out of the glass double doors.

Luna lifted herself up a little, seeing someone walk out the doors below her she watche'd the person to see what they were going to do.

"Hey you!"

The sound of hurried steps echoed through the alleyway.

"You dirty criminal, stop!"

Police Sergeant Ace Flare sprinted after the unknown man. He had a warrant for the criminal's arrest, but apparently things can't just go as planned, because that would have been just too easy.
"You're only making this harder on yourself!" Ace yelled out. A sudden rush of adrenaline forced his legs to move faster and faster. He hated making a scene, but in light of the situation, some drastic measures might be required. The criminal sprinted around the corner and out of the alley, onto the sidewalk near a coffee shop."This will make it a bit harder on you, officer," the strange man pulled out a handgun and waved it towards Sgt. Flare.

*flash*

A bolt of blinding white light found it's way into the wanted man's eyes. He immediately dropped his weapon, and fell onto the ground holding his eyes. "Suspect is under arrest. Bring it in, pal," he said into his walkie talkie. A siren echoed in the distance, as Ace handcuffed the incapacitated man and awaited the arrival of his partner's squad car.

Elizabeth looked out the window of the coffee shop and noticed a cop arresting a man and rolled her eyes. "Just one calm day without any murders and arrests. Is that too much to ask" Elizabeth thought as she pulled up her hoodie and walked out of the store slowly trying to act like a normal human.

Nim glanced around the shop before pocketing the bill and walking out after the guy. She looked at her options. She could run after him or she could not. The later seemed more likely so she strolled the other way. As she walked she bumped into a young woman on her cell phone. The woman dropped her purse on the ground. "Oop! Sorry about that! Here let me help." She picked up the purse and started to put the belongings back inside. When she picked up the little coin purse she quickly dumped the change into her palm then slid the empty pouch into the purse. "Here you go, sorry!" Nim walked away normally before scaling a ladder up to a vacant looking roof.

Keith was still observing from the roof as he saw all the crime and mayhem take place. He wasn't very good at following along with the chaos but he always knew these where the reasons that he loved the city. What really intrigued Keith the most though was the pick pocketing girl, although he was not a killer, he was very pleased with another persons money. he watched as she performed yet another act and slipped that woman's change. He wondered if a "business partner" would be good for him.
