Emmalia seemed very reluctant to admit that he was right. She shifted from foot to foot, thinking. Who knew how long it would be before someone else took this same road? Very quietly she said, "But I'm scared to leave you...."

Callum looked up into Emmalia's eyes, reaching up to hold her hand. "Emmalia," He began. "Don't be scared. Whatever it was doesn't seem too interested in us anymore. You can trust me Em, I'm not going to die. Not here."

Emmalia hesitated, then quietly said, "Don't make much noise, and keep your sword out. I'll be back as soon as possible." She squeezed his hand and let go of it, then climbed out of the carriage.

Callum watched as Emmalia left the wreck of the carriage, slowly attempting to draw his sword. He figured that it wasn't worth the pain - whatever could flip their transport in one hit could easily defeat a weary, wounded man with a metal stick. He just hoped he didn't bleed out before Emmalia came back.

Emmalia didn't care who saw her, her man was in danger, so naturally she ran much faster than humanly possible. The closest place to their location was Aman's castle, so immediately she ran past the guards and straight into the throne room where Aman sat, expecting their arrival. She had slowed to a normal speed on approaching him, but even with her speed, that had been fifteen minutes of sprinting, so she was panting very hard as she gasped to Aman, "Need a healer. Callum is hurt. Beast attacked our carriage, Cal can't move his legs."

Aman was signing a piece of parchment at the time Emmalia had ran in. Once the guards in the room noticed her, they all raised their weapons just in case - her running in straight to Aman obviously causing some problems with them. Of course, Aman dismissed them. "Slow down and catch your breath. We'll send a healer out to Callum as soon as possible. I'm assuming he's at the main road...?"

Emmalia nodded quickly. "It's some ways down, but we need to get there soon, that thing could come back and he's defenseless." Already she was panting less, but she made sure not to look like she recovered too quickly, lest she be found out.

Aman nodded and looked over at a guard, who seemed to understand his silent gesture to gather some knights to go on patrol, as well as send some with the healer to go for Callum. "I'm sure he'll be fine. Callum seems like a good man."

"Yes, but my Lord, he almost died only four days ago, he was stabbed through the chest. If a healer had not been close by... and he still isn't fully healed from that, and now he's injured even worse." Aman already knew they were courting, and in the moment, even if he hadn't, Emmalia wouldn't have cared - whoever saw her worrying for Callum would know, and that was fine.

Aman sighed softly. "Don't worry, we'll get him a healer and everything will be fine. I'm making sure to send my best men to rescue him. You can join them if you'd like - but I'd prefer you stay out of harms way."

Emmalia shook her head. "If there is any danger, that's all the more reason I should go. Callum may not be able to defend himself, and I will not leave him out there like that." Her voice was stern, and she had finally caught her breath. "I'm going to help my fiance, M'Lord, but I do thank you for your concern."

Aman nodded his head in response. "Do be careful, please. The guards and healer should be there momentarily." Aman waved as she began to leave, turning back to his work.

Emmalia nodded and left, running back to Callum at a slightly slower pace than before. When she got to the carriage, she ambly climbed up to the door and dropped in to stand next to Cal. "Healer's coming with guards."

Callum was rather startled when she came in, not expecting her back so soon. Not to mention he was probably being stalked by a huge monster in the forest. It didn't help his anxiety of the situation. "Wonderful." Cal said. "Did you see what it was? Was the monster out there?"

Emmalia shook her head. "Nope. Not even foot prints. I didn't catch a scent either. It showed up, then just disappeared. Hopefully Aman's healer and guards get here safe. They probably will, the beast randomly attacked us then ran, and from the sound of Aman's letter, it doesn't usually attack groups."

Callum nodded slowly. "I'm just glad to see you're okay. Is Aman alright? Another Warlord hasn't tried to bully him into submission again have they?"

Emmalia chuckled and shook her head. "No, he is just fine. He didn't want me coming to help you, though, he was worried for my safety. Which is kind, but unnecessary."

"You should've stayed at the castle. I don't want you to get hurt trying to protect me." Cal said, bringing his hand over to hers.

"Yeah, well, I don't want you getting good hurt. Besides, the beast hasn't shown itself, and there's guards on their way. We'll be okay." Emmalia smiled and squeezed his hand tightly.

Callum's smile brightened a bit, returning the affection with a kiss, then a groan. "That healer can't get here fast enough." He said. "I feel so useless. I'm just some liability who's probably going to get a handful of guards killed."

"But I'm a knight, and a Warlord. It's the equivalent of a healer getting killed." Cal sighed heavily and gave her hand a squeeze. "When I'm all better, I'm going to take on a few jobs. Make me feel a little less useless."

"Well, we already have one job, and it's not treated you very well so far." She kissed his forehead, and moments later the sound of armor clanking could be heard - the guards had arrived with the healer.

Under an hour later, Callum and Emmalia were brought before Aman again, this time on healer's orders to make it quick so Callum could rest. He could walk again, but only stiffly. Emmalia said to Aman, "We thank you for the healers and guards, M'Lord. In the morning, if Callum feels well, we will begin searching for the monster."

Aman, once Callum had been taken care of, waved his hand dismissively. "Please, take the time you need. I'd rather Callum get better rather than have him hurt himself trying to help."

Emmalia smiled and nodded. "Thank you, M'Lord. I'll bring Callum to our room, then."

Aman nodded. "Same room as last time. I'll have the healer sleep in a nearby room in case he's needed."
