Emmalia dozed on and off during the ride, but for the most part stayed awake, playing with Callum's hair and looking out the window. She wasn't sure how far they were going, so when she saw a castle rising in the distance some short time after sunrise, she kissed Callum's forehead and softly said, "Cal, wake up, you need to put your helmet on."

Callum woke quietly and quickly. He was a light sleeper whenever he even could fall asleep, and rose from Emmalia's lap slowly. He slowly looked out of Emmalia's window, seeing the castle in the distance. It was much larger and more grand than most other castles, with many different sets of defenses set up. Undoubtedly it was a warlord's castle. "Yup... That's the place." he said and rested his head on her shoulder. "I don't want to move from this spot." He said grudgingly.

"Well you'll have to put your helmet on soon. I don't want to make you move from that spot, but it has to be done." She wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him close. This had to have been understandably difficult for him, being back by his old home. "Let's just do this, then we're done and can get away from here."

Callum nodded his head and held her close for a moment, taking in her warmth. Then, slowly, he pulled away and grabbed his helmet. He stared at it for a moment, looking at the soullessness of its metal makeup before turning it around and slowly putting it back on his head. Correcting it a bit, he sat up straight and exhaled. "I'll be at the Inn when we get there. Do me a favor and don't start killing people without me." He smiled down at her, but couldn't be seen through his helmet. His hand gently held hers as they entered the castle walls and the cart made its way up the hill to Gallium's palace.

Emmalia sighed and shrugged. "If he pays me to kill people, I may have to do it alone, to prevent him from inquiring about you, wanting to meet you." She was still in her formal wear from last night, but now she took the time to let her hair mostly down, holding part of it back with the dagger barrette. Hopefully she would be given time to change.

Callum nodded and the carriage stopped. When it did, Callum got out, giving Emmalia one last look and a wave before heading down to the inn, leaving Emmalia with the guards. They escorted her to a stateroom, with large grand windows and a large bed in the center. One of the guards stepped forward and said, "Our gracious Lord Gallium has prepared an array of weapons, outfits and tools for you to use as you see fit." He motioned to the left, where a door blocked the view into a sort of armory. "He wishes to meet you in half an hour."

Emmalia looked around the room once she was alone. It was big and fancy and reminded her of very similar rooms she'd been in in the past - she didn't like it. Especially since it seemed so empty without Callum, whom she'd grown used to having around. Ignoring that which was offered, she changed into her usual array of armor and weaponry, and by the time she was completely ready to go, she was summoned to meet Gallium.

The guards escorted Emmalia to Gallium's hall, which was without a doubt much more wonderful and grand. Gallium sat all the way at the end in one, large chair, two guards in either side of him. "Ahh, Emmelia!" He said, hoping he got her name right, but not caring too much. "I'm glad you've arrived. How do you find your stateroom? Is it alright? Would you like a larger one? Perhaps more gold?"

"M'Lord, it is very nice, but I already have sent my travelling companion to get a room for myself at the inn, and I will be staying there. As for the gold, we have not discussed payment since we have not discussed what the job is you want me here for. And lastly, my name is Emmalia, M'Lord." Emmalia's tone was polite - clear, concise. She wanted to find out what her job was, and then get out of there.

"Oh, why Emmalia, I do hope you know it'll be challenging. I need you to assassinate a traitorous lord in our realm who has poisoned our way of life." He paused, to make sure she understood how much he detested rebels. "He didn't show at the party in fear of ending up like Lord Aman, who is staying in our wonderful prison. I need you to assassinate, or bring back - Lord Varicus Balder." His words seemed to echo through the hall menacingly.

Balder was the Lord who had brought her and Callum together, and even besides that, Emmalia had worked with him a number of times. Emmalia would not be used as a tool for Gallium's revenge. It was probably something stupid and petty, anyway. Despite what Callum had said about not defying Lord Gallium, she said, "M'Lord, I'm sorry to inform you, but as a dark huntress it is forbidden of me to assassinate people or get involved in political problems. I may kill people who bring the majority to risk, and I may act as judge or median, but I cannot assassinate or kidnap for politics. I'm sorry, M'Lord."

"Then get your knight friend to do it for you." His tone changed from pleasant to a more sinister tone. His fist became more evident as it rested on the arm of his throne, obviously not one to take no for an answer. He sat forward a bit and grinned. "I know you brought him along. Why isn't he here? Did he decide to run? Is he guilty of some crime?"

Emmalia put a small, innocent smile on her face. If he was going to be mad, let him be mad at her. "My travelling companion is at the inn, as I said. He is guilty of no crime. You requested I visit you, and so I entered alone. It only seemed the polite thing to do."

Gallium rested back in his seat, trying to analyze her from where he sat. He brought a hand up to his stubble and made a thinking face as he tried to find a loophole. "Either way, I do believe your knight is not a dark hunter, is he? You're lucky I don't behead you now - my problems are greater than your worthless convictions. If you hadn't saved me, I'd expect you to even bow for me." He suddenly reclaimed his old, nice smile. "I'm sorry. Listen, I want to speak to your knight. Bring him here and I can tell him to do what you can't."

Emmalia couldn't help but think that Gallium had mood swings worse than a teenage girl. Her only option in this situation seemed to be at least going and seeing Callum, and maybe together they could think of a way out of this mess. "I'll go see him and speak with him about this. Thank you, m'Lord."

Lord Gallium waved his head, and the guards escorted her out of the castle and out of the inner walls. From there, they left her outside, where the city began, and went back inside to resume their posts. Callum waited at the inn, drinking mead alone at a table in the corner of the room silently. He had his helmet off, but made sure he sat at an angle where most people couldn't see his face. Drinking quietly, he awaited Emmalia's return.

Emmalia made sure to constantly check that she wasn't being followed before she entered the inn. Once there, she found Callum and went to his table. "Okay, bad news, your dad wants me to assassinate Lord Balder. I told him I couldn't as a huntress and all, and he said he knew about my 'knight friend' and now wants to meet you so you can do it. What do you want to do?"

Callum slowly set down his mug and looked over at her with a chuckle. "Hello to you too." He smiled, happy to finally see her again, even if she had only been gone for a bit. "Well... Balder is a friend in my book. Maybe we can allow him to escape and tell Gallium that we killed him?" He thought for a moment. "I can play a mute knight. You can speak for me, he won't know it's me."

Emmalia nodded slowly. "Right, he'll play along... but for how long? Eventually Gallium will know, and then what? We'll be at the top of his list to hunt down." She shook her head quickly. Their situation was looking very bad.

"I'm not sure." He said, tapping his food rapidly on the floor out of nervousness. "Maybe we can just run away, move far from here and live in some small shack in the middle of the woods down south. We can be by the beach, you can hunt for food and I can take up farming." He seemed to be having a million possibilities and questions going through his head, and that was the best he could gt out without sounding like gibberish.

Emmalia just looked at Callum for a few moments, then said, "We shouldn't change our way of life because of this. But I can't see a way out of this without killing someone. I'm not going to be a tool for your father, but I am also not going to have our lives ruined with this. You know your dad, what can we do?"

Callum took a long moment to think. He knew his father's palace inside and out, and understood most of the guards patterns - if he hadn't changed it. "We can stage an assassination, make it seem like some Lord killed Gallium? Then, we wait for the storm to ride out, and we leave." He wasn't sure if it was a good idea, but it was his only plan so far.

Emmalia sighed and shook her head. "It's possible, but not going to be easy at all, the chances of us getting away... I don't like those chances. Our best chance is having Balder hide - wait." Emmalia's eyes widened and she smiled. "I've got it we have your father sign a contract for me to murder Gallium, then leave and take it to the King, who would not take very kindly to his Lords being imprisoned and murdered."

Callum nodded slowly. "This is something I can get behind. As long as I don't reveal myself to Gallium before we leave, this should be off without a hitch. Let's get that contract and give it to our king." He flashed a smile, before quietly adding in, "You're a genius Emma." He stood up and quickly threw on his helmet. "Are you ready to go now, or should we wait for tomorrow?"

"Let's go now," she said with a smile. The sooner they could deal with their problem, the better. Gallium might end up dead in the end, but that was not especially upsetting to her.
