Emmalia chuckled quietly, then said, "That's very true. We've earned it, killing a beast, then me getting shot, and all the time spent getting dressed up! However, you don't seem to know how to relax." She let go of him and stepped away to take his helmet off for him, and set it aside. "There, no more hiding. Long as you keep the helmet off for this dance, I won't hide either. Deal?"

Callum couldn't help but smile, as his view of Emmalia was no longer obstructed by the face guard covering most of his vision. "Deal." He pulled her back in close, swaying once more to the soft song being played in the next room. "I hope you know I still am dressed up under all of this armor." The whole time he talked as they danced, he never once took his eyes off of her. She was simply too beautiful for him to look away, like the perfect sunset.

"Oh really? Seems a lot of trouble to go to. Trying to impress someone?" She gave him a playful smile. She met his eyes and didn't look away as they danced. It was wonderful to feel so free and comfortable with someone as to dance. The last time she had felt so free and happy while dancing was too long ago... before a lot of things had happened. The thought almost saddened her, but she wouldn't let it show - she wouldn't ruin it for Callum. But she was a vampiress, she didn't deserve to dance with a handsome young knight.... She softly said, "Cal... do you really think we should be doing... this? Don't get me wrong - it's fantastic. But... I don't know...."

Callum stopped her before she could say anymore, unable to stand the thought of being so distant from her any longer. He pulled her in gently, but with haste as he pressed his lips to hers in a moment that seemed to reflect the sunset he had witnessed a few moments ago, the blending of one passionate, fiery moment into the slow subtle, gentleness of another as the surprise of the feeling of her lips had passed, and only the feeling of pure bliss rang out over all others. After a moment of holding the kiss, he gently pulled away, but remained close to her, with his arms tightly around her waist.

The kiss had shocked her, and it had done it's job in shutting her up. Initially, she'd stiffened in his arms, but after a heartbeat, she closed her eyes and returned the kiss with a warmth she had thought her dead heart incapable of. When the kiss ended, she blushed and looked away, at the ground, though she smiled shyly. And here she had thought she was not one to easily swoon....

Callum, nearly breathless, couldn't help but chuckle at the moment. He had simply fallen head over heels for the girl standing in front of him. She was absolutely perfect in every way, and Callum had no chance with her. In all honesty, he figured she would never take him, so he decided to take matters into his own hands, and just know what it was like to feel Emmalia's lips on his - a risk he would take over and over again if he could. The smile and blush on her face was beginning to change his thoughts, though.

Still blushing, Em pressed her head into the crook of Callum's neck to hide her face. "You're not just a good dancer. You're a pretty good kisser, too." She stayed there and enjoyed the closeness. It was hard for her to deny how much she liked being with Callum, especially when he held her - it made her feel like she wasn't completely alone, and reminded her of her humanity and emotions she tried so desperately to hide.

Callum's hand gently stroked her back as he swayed lightly, a breeze passing them which made him only hold her tighter. "You're not so bad yourself Em." He said with a smile. "And no, I don't think this is a bad idea. And even if it is, I'm willing to fight destiny over you, tooth and nail, to keep you out of harms way and in my arms." Callum never thought of himself as a poet, but his words and actions were beginning to prove himself otherwise. "I'm glad I found you again Emmalia."

Emmalia smiled against his chest and quietly said, "I'm glad you found me." It had finally come to a point where she couldn't pretend that Callum hadn't practically captured her heart. She had always been on to fight destiny, and if that was what Callum was willing to do, then she would fight with him. Anything to keep him with her.

Those were some of the best words he could have heard at the moment, knowing she was just as happy they found one another after being away from her for so long. He had hoped the moment would never end, but decided there would be plenty of time later for them to talk, dance and kiss later on, when they weren't being paid to do something else entirely. "Come on, let's go make sure the world didn't come to an end while you became mine." He sounded so smooth and fluent, and it was because it came directly from his heart.

Emmalia wanted to protest, but she grinned when she realized that, really, he was right. She grabbed his helmet and gave it to him before they went in. It wouldn't do to have his father recognize him, after all.

They stepped inside again, where the festivities were at an all time high, with bards and lords drunk and yelling compliments and conversations to one another. Callum smiled, as the world seemed to be much brighter than it had been before. Callum made sure to stay by Emmalia's side, rather closely, almost to the point where it would look scandalous for a guard to be in such close proximity to a guest. That, however, is when Lord Gallium accidentally bumped into Emmalia from the side. "Oh, my apologies, miss." He said, his voice deep and formal. Callum's fist balled as his other hand went for his hilt.

Emmalia quickly said, "No harm done, sir." Without an introduction, she didn't know who Lord Gallium was, so she couldn't know he was a Lord, and that would be understood by any. She saw Callum's movement in the corner of her eye and looked at him through the slit in his helmet - hopefully she could keep him calm like last time.

Callum kept his eyes trained on Gallium for a moment as the very end of his sword slid out of its sheath silently, before he turned his attention to Emmalia. He saw her eyes again, and once more, he felt pacified in the presence of them. He slowly let down his sword before it was noticed, and saluted how any normal guard would. He also gave this time to introduce him to Emmalia. "Good evening, Lord Gallium." He said in a much different voice than normal so that Gallium wouldn't recognize him. To this, he replied. "Yes yes good evening. Now, miss, I do believe it is proper for an accident at a ball to be repaired with a dance, no?"

Emmalia, having been an actress for three or so years, could make herself blush on command, and that came in handy at that moment. Blushing, she said, "Why, of course you're correct. Unless you have better things to attend to, of course." Perhaps playing a shy young miss would work...?

Gallium offered his hand to her slowly and smiled wickedly, the scar on the corner of his lip seeming to increase the fierce tension he brought to any conversation. "It would be my honor miss." Callum was nearly about to explode and draw his sword that instant. He nearly broke his hand just trying to contain his anger. If it weren't for his dire need to stay incognito, he would've shouted profanities at him already. But, Callum resorted simply to putting his hand back onto his sword, preparing to cut off Gallium's head at any moment.

Emmalia smiled charmingly and took his hand. Despite knowing who she was working with - Callum's evident rage had told her, as had the tell-tale scar on Gallium's face - Emmalia was as willing as ever to kill him if he did something stupid like try to grope her. She just hoped that Callum could keep his temper.....

Gallium danced with Emmalia for a bit, seemingly skilled at doing so. It seemed to be almost an exact replica of how Callum had danced earlier that night, proving even more that he was Callum's father. "You don't happen to have a date tonight do you?" He asked. "If so I could always just decapitate him." Gallium seemed to attempt at a joke, albeit a dry one, but by the way he acted he seemed to expect a genuine laugh from her. "I've been looking for a new maiden to keep up my lineage. My last few children were completely unbearable."

Emmalia laughed when he had expected her to, and she blushed at his next statement. "Ah, m'Lord, I'm sorry but I could not assist in that endeavour. I do not have a date with me tonight, but I am taken." It would be best if she didn't admit she was a guard for Aman.... especially when the person she was supposed to guard Aman from was Gallium.

Gallium chuckled lightly, standing a good foot or so over her, leaned down and said, "Well, Aman gives his condolences. Unfortunately he no longer needs any bodyguards." He spoke quietly and simply, but obviously with enough force. Callum couldn't hear what they were saying to one another without seeming suspicious, so he hoped Emmalia would give him a warning if anything was wrong. Then, Gallium continued. "We had a nice little chat a few moments ago, I was surprised when I ran into a girl matching the description of his special guard. I'm glad to see he recruited fine specimens to keep us all safe."

Immediately, a chill went down Emmalia's spine, and she dropped the charming act, going back to her usual cold indifference. "He told me not to try to stop you.... I've heard no screams, so it wasn't a public murder, and I told him explicitly not to eat or drink anything - I smelled the poison in his wine before he drank it. What did you do?"

Gallium chuckled. "Oh no, I didn't kill Aman. He's just in solitary confinement for a while. I'm trying to seem more hospitable to my peers. I fear a mutiny is about. Like this one ballad I watched some years ago, a classic truly. You should accompany to one some time. I don't believe I got your name, miss." He peered down at her, an innocent smile on his face. Callum was off to his side, pacing menacingly, wanting to strike Gallium down. He knew it would get them both killed, though.

Emmalia knew what he was referencing... and she didn't like that a bit. Leo was Callum and hers joke, not his, though if it was a ballad maybe he meant something else.... either way, Emmalia knew she was playing with fire by telling him her real name, but who knew if he has some sort of truth charm on a piece of jewelry that would allow him to know she had lied? "Emmalia." By now he had probably noticed her dark Hunter's pendant, and she hoped he had.

"Emmalia. That's a beautiful name." He said with a soft smile. He suddenly stopped dancing, and pulled away. He looked her up and down for a moment before adding in. "I'd like to ask a favor of you, miss Emmalia. I would like to see you again at my castle, I would like some work to be done if you don't mind." He looked over at Callum for a moment, a glare scouring his face, before turning away. "I hope to see you soon."

Emmalia stood and watched Gallium depart. When she was sure he was gone, she walked up to Callum. "Uh... your father is.... charming. He asked me if I had a date, joked that if I did he could kill him, then said that he was looking for a 'new maiden' to 'extend his lineage with'. Uh, then he revealed that Aman was... while we were dancing, Aman was in 'solitary confinement'. Invited me to attend a ballad with him, then finished it off by complimenting my name and asking for me to go to his castle; he said he had some work for me." She put her hand on Callum's arm and softly said, "Don't go after him. I'm okay."
