Emmalia fell asleep almost immediately and only stirred one or twice.

.

At some point in the evening they returned to the castle. The sun had just set, and both Callum and Emmalia were looking forward to a good meal. Immediately upon entering, Emmalia was informed of more than ten letters from her parents. Still not feeling well, she elected to ignore these, and went straight to dinner with Callum, prioritizing that over the much-needed healing.

Callum had been rather surprise with the messages from Emmalia's parents, since they didn't seem to like him too much. Still, he decided it must only be good news. During their meal, Callum talked to Emmalia about countless things, just happy to have her around and in a mentally stable condition. the past few days had been rough, seeing her fight herself. So, he enjoyed his company alone with her while he could before they had to resume their Lord and Lady roles.

The meal was certainly pleasant, and Emmalia seemed to actually enjoy it and almost seemed back to her normal self. Afterward, they summoned the healer and offered him exorbitant amounts to keep her vampirism a secret. He agreed, since so far she hadn't hurt anyone. In their bedroom, Emmalia sat on the edge of the bed, seeming tired and not very responsive. The healer hesitated as he looked at the wounds, especially the one on her cheek. "Uh, Lord Cross... I can't promise I can heal these."

Callum looked over at Emmalia, examining the wounds for himself. "Well, why not?" He asked, seemingly slightly frustrated. "I'm sure you can use some magic or something to help. You'll be rewarded even more than you are if you can heal her. I beg of you."

"Cal, it's because it's from silver," Em said quietly, staring at the floor with a blank expression. "The other healer couldn't do much either."

The healer sighed and said, "Let me see what I can do." He reached out and touched her ahoulder, but the moment she felt his magic affect her, she flinched and pulled away. Still looking at the cobblestone floor, she quietly said, "Sorry.... I just got spooked." Without looking up, she reached out and took Cal's hand, holding it tightly. "You can continue."

The healer nodded and started working on the wound on her cheek again. The blackened flesh faded to dark red, and the wound closed slightly, it's healing advanced by almost a week. Then he focused on her hands, which she was having trouble using easily. He focused on the joints of her hands, so she could bend her fingers, and managed to get new skin to grow in those places. Finally he stopped and pulled away. "At this point... I really can't do much more, M'Lord."

Callum looked over Emmalia with dissatisfied eyes, since she still hadn't been fully healed. He decided it was enough for now, and if Em wished it, he'd get more healers later. "Thank you. That'll be all." Callum waved his hand and gave Emmalia's a squeeze. "Are you going to be alright? I can bring in as many healers as you need to be better again."

The healer nodded and left.

Emmalia nodded. "It still hurts, but I can use my hands again." She brought a hand up to her cheek, then looked st him. "I'm worried this will scar and look all bad.... I don't think you'd like that."

"Emmalia, my Lily Pad, I'd love you no matter how you looked. Don't worry about that. I'm worried for how long you'll be in pain for." Callum gave her hand a squeeze and kissed her head.

Em smiled slightly and nodded. She looked dow at her hands and slowly closed them, then opened them again. "I mean, it all aches, sometimes worse than ithers, but it's not unbearable."

"But I don't want you to just bear it. I want you to be as comfortable as possible. I'll stop at nothing until you're in paradise every moment of your life." He knew he was over exaggerating, but Callum liked showering Emmalia with compliments when he felt it was needed.

Em smiled just a little bit more, then pressed her forehead down against his chest. "Everything feels so... odd. It's like I'm paranoid. Being back in the castle is odd, too, because yes it's home, but I'm still not used to this lifestyle, I think." She looked up at him, then said, "I don't want you to stress, though. Tomorrow, we can go eat at the tavern, and you can get drunk and I'll keep you in check and bring you back here. What do you think?"

Callum chuckled lightly. "What, that eager to see me drunk?" He asked, kissing her cheek gently. "Sounds like a wonderful time my love." Callum rested back on the bed, looking up at the ceiling. He remained quiet for a moment before saying, "Should we go check those letters from your parents?"

"I suppose." She gathered the letters from the jighstand and skimmed over a few of them, then flopped onto the bed by Callum. "They want to see me about the inheritance, since now I'm married to a warlord and all." She turned her head and nuzzled against his neck, slowly moving to get comfortable against him. "We can ignore it for a while." Just the thought of dealing with her parents made her more tired, prompting her to cuddle up to Callum and lay her head on his shoulder. After some moments of thought passed, she quietly said, "Y'know, Cal...? When I was under that spell? When I was at the healer's and trying to keep in control? This is what I thought about. Us, curled up together like this, on a calm night. I thought about how warm you are and the sound of your breathing and your chest rising and falling, and how you play with my hair, and make me feel safe and loved. It let me keep control long enough to speak with you and let you get a head start."

Callum listened intently to Emmalia as he kept an arm around her. He had to admit - Emmalia had a way of igniting a fire in him that no one else could. His love for her only burned brighter as she spoke of what she thought about. Callum held her tight against his body, letting a hand gently run through her hair. "I'm glad to hear that, Lily Pad." Callum paused before continuing. "Every day I think I can't possibly love you any more than I do already, and somehow you do something that just... takes my breath away. You're the reason I get up in the morning, and the reason I go to bed at night." Callum kissed her head gently and let the quiet take over.

Em smiled, then quietly said, "I love you, Cal, and I will for eternity."

The next evening, Emmalia put on her fancy gloves and a decent commoner's dress and put her hair up nicely. For once, neither of them would have to wear any armor at all, nor would they have to wear overly extravagant clothing. It was a luxury to be certain. Once Callum was ready, Em brought him to the carriage and they went down to the tavern. They could have walked, but by the time night would come and they would have to leave, it would be cold and dark, and Em still wasn't feeling her best.

In the tavern, they both had a nice dinner, and Em ordered a single glass of wine - it Callum was going to get drunk, she would need to stay mostly sober.

"I still can't believe you actually want me to get drunk." Callum said as he drank a pitcher of ale. "I warned you, I'm a changed man when I'm drunk. I do crazy things." Cal attempted to sway Emmalia's mind in hopes she'd call it off. Of course, he really didn't mind being drunk. He just didn't want to get them kicked out of the closest tavern to their castle.

Emmalia shook her head. "Callum, the first party at Cross Castle, you got me absolutely drunk. You know what I'm like drunk -now I need to know what you're like drunk. "

Callum rolled his eyes with a smile. "You're not that bad when you're drunk though. You know, once I ended up across the entirety of Trulane after five mugs. I wasn't even completely drunk - who knows what l happen!" Callum finished his pitcher and went for another one.

"Callum, I'll keep you under control, it's ojay. But if you don't WANT to get drunk, then don't. But you've been very stressed recently, understandably. I'll make sure nothing ridiculous happens." She watched him with her head resting in her hand.

"Well look, next time I say I get drunk and drunk I get, I'll get drunk and we'll be in really bad situations because I'm drunk." Cal stopped for a moment, realizing nothing he just said made any sense. "What I meant to say was... We should stay vigilant." He spoke much slower now, drinking away.

"Of course, love." She watched him down drinks with an amused expression. For all she knew, he could be the type to sob when he got dunk, and everything else had been his friends messing with him.

Callum went through a fairly large amount of ale, much more than Emmalia had ever seen him take in. Before long Cal set down his mug and wiped his mouth, a grin on his face. "You know Em, Emmalia, Mail, Emma. We... We should get married."

"We're married that fast?" Callum asked, astonished. "Is anything I say suddenly true?! This is wonderful! I can wish for anything!" Callum stood up. "I want to be a warlord! I want my own castle! Ooooh I want a magical carriage!"

Knowing he was getting loud, Emmalia took both of his hands and guided him to sit down again. "Callum, love, look at me. You already own those things, you've owned them for a while."
