Fantasy Frozen In Time

Alhara had been thinking long and hard about what had happened. It first, she had guessed that time had stopped nut that wasn't possible, was it? Time was the concept that events continued indefinitely as well as what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen. If time had truly stopped, that would mean that the future would never come but Alhara could still decide on actions to take, which meant that the future was still active.

So this brought up the point that the freeze didn't effect her, just everything else. If that were true though, then all airflow would also stop and she wouldn't be able to breathe. She remembered how she drew the smiley face in the splashed mud. The molecules had visibly shifted when her finger was pressed into the water, meaning that the laws of motion still applied, which would explain why she could breathe without natural airflow. "Time can't stop... that's impossible. But it can slow down."

Alhara stood up from the bench and started walking around the park. She figured that if anyone was looking for people, it'd be best to check one of the most open and populated areas. In a motionless world, a girl walking around would stick out pretty well. Alhara walked the sidewalk around the park, waiting to see if anybody else showed up while she tossed the new idea around in her head.

As Jayce walked the streets, he tossed around a few theories in his head. Everything seemed to have come to a stand still, nothing moving. One logical conclusion would be that time had stopped. There was also the case where he was able to pick up the knife in the air, meaning he could interact with everything. There was also the fact that air was obviously still in motion, as he could breath. This could be attributed to the same idea that he could interact with the environment, his inhale drawing in the necessary air. Of course, he had no idea why everything was the way they were, but he could always figure that out later.

There was still one thing that he wondered; Was he the only one who was still in motion? And if not, would the others be hostile? This was basically an emergency situation, and people tended to look out for themselves in those situations. That begged the question of what would he do? If there were others, would he be hostile, or helpful? It would be more fun going solo, so he leaned more towards that option. As he walked the street heading towards the park (it was a likely place to find others), he saw a girl circling it on the sidewalk a 40 or so feet away.

Quickly ducking into an alley unnoticed, he quickly went over his next moves. He was going solo, that was his choice. This person could have some things that could be useful, such as food, a weapon, or something else. If he could somehow get behind her, he could mug her and take everything valuable, then render her unconscious. He didn't want to kill, though he had the tools necessary. Looking around, he found a steel pipe on the ground. He banged it against a garbage can as loud as he could and ducked behind a dumpster a few feet away. Sound in this environment would be sure to garner attention.

She spun around on her heels and looked around. That was an awful loud noise for it to have been an accident, so someone was trying to get attention. Alhara looked over towards a couple of garbage cans and a dumpster... nobody, in view anyways. A fire formed in her eyes. In times of crisis, it wasn't uncommon for people to go berserk and attack others for any number of reasons. And drawing attention but remaining hidden was awfully suspicious.

Despite the possible danger, Alhara walked towards the alley with her hands balled up into fists. She stopped just short of the alley and stared straight ahead, listening for anything. Heavy breathing, the shuffle of feet, almost anything could be heard in the dead silence... but there was nothing. I'll just wait here, I've got all day after all. With her hands on her hips, she waited, not venturing into the alley. This might actually be the first time that her antisocial behavior was useful.

Carter was still a blubbering mess inside. His eyes were closely looking around for some sort of movement. He had to find someone else, really. Hopefully. Who could still be alive? Why was it they were spared from this? What could have caused this?

All of these thoughts swirled in his head as he looked around to where he had seen in the skies by the new girl pointing toward it. He began to sigh and walked with her in the direction of what she had designated and started to skidder away in an attempt to act natural.

Jayce sat dead quiet as he listened for any sound at all. As he waited, he heard the faint sound of footsteps approaching the alley, then stopping. Good, I've got her attention. He had already planned for a few outcomes. If she approached the dumpster, he would spring out from behind and sweep her legs, knocking her down. He would then pull out his knife and request for any food, water, or tools. If she walked away, he would rush her and put his knife to her back. However, waiting an excess of 3 minutes, he heard nothing at all. She was waiting. I COULD wait, but that would be boring. He knew he could easily stay in place for however much time was necessary, but he had an itch that required a bit of variety and fun.

Walking out from behind the dumpster slowly, both hands above his head with the pipe in one, he got a better look at who he had planned to mug. She didn't look very old, roughly the same age as himself. That meant that she would either be naive and easy to fool, or stubborn and suspicious. Adults tended to have a bit of both, but he noticed that teens tended to side to one extreme over the other. Of course, he saw himself as an exception. "Okay, fine. I can see you're a good person. When I saw you, I suspected you may have been a mugger or thief, so I wanted to lure you here and judge by listening to the haste in your footsteps." He bent down slowly and placed the pipe on the ground, then slowly stood back up. "You seemed rather cautious and slow, so I don't think you are a problem. I could be wrong, though. Look, maybe we can work together, figure out why things are the way they are." He was hoping she was desperate for answers or just lonely. However, he had his knife tucked in his back pocket, so if things went awry he had an advantage.

Cecilia got off of the car and began to head in the direction of the park. "I need a change of scenery." she said and worked past all of the things frozen before her. Looking around her for the slightest bit of life but the people that were frozen were not giving her much a view. She had finally reached the park and stood on the side walk. "Now I obviously can't be the only one here." she began to look around and thought to herself I'll play the standstill game as well. Cecilia froze on the sidewalk of the park scanning her eyes all over the place.

Lilith managed to smash the window open and the glass slowly fell. She jumped inside,"Come on!", she told Carter as she headed in. She walked up to the system and flipped it on, turning it as high as it could go. After taking a long deep breath Lilith shouted,"ANYONE WHO ISN'T FROZEN COME TO THE BROADCASTING TOWER! I REPEAT, ANYONE WHO ISN'T FROZEN COME TO THE BROADCASTING TOWER!" It blasted over town where anyone could here, the silence making it echo.

Carter managed to jump into the window as she had ordered and landed safely on his feet in a kneel before walking alongside her. The broadcasting station was a good idea to get out emergency calls. He had barely managed to hold his ears as he heard her screaming. My goodness, what was she doing? She could have said it in a calm fashion. But then again, they were both probably freaking out right now. So, how could he hold it against her.

"Well, that is one way of getting the message out there, huh?"

Lilith smiled at him,"Anyone out there should have heard that. Now all we do is wait", she said happily. She felt proud of her idea and thought it would definitely work. As she started to walk back out she looked for people who may already be coming. She stared at a frozen person for a moment,

Carter was close to watch Lilith as she took a patrol about to check on others. His movements were a little behind hers, in the shadows to watch her. He would make sure no one attacked her or something without paying for it. He was always good as a watchdog for the former friends he had before the freeze. Who thought it would help him in times like this?

Alhara eyed the boy curiously. Something wasn't right about him, his eyes didn't say the same thing that his mouth did. She decided to reply in the most appropriate manner, "That's bullshit. Muggers and thugs hide in back alleys, waiting for helpless little girls to come there way, not wander the park."

"You make any sudden moves, I'll kick your ass. Understand?" She reached her right hand into the back pocket of her jeans, taking out a set of brass knuckles. They had a shiny new violet coating. Until recently, they had been fairly useless but today they had found a purpose and Alhara was almost dying to test them out. Her fingers wrapped tightly around the brass knuckles just as a loud voice blared through the streets.

The broadcasting tower? Must be important. Alhara decided to check it out, walking backwards away from the thug boy several feet before turning around. She wasn't completely sure where the tower was but it couldn't be hard to miss.

Cecilia didn't know what to do and then she heard...the voice. Broadcasting tower huh? She knew it was a long shot and could even be a trap. " I suppose you're right we should go there." she said and began making her way to the broadcasting tower. It seemed like nothing had changed since her first trip around the city in this motionless state it was in. Broadcasting tower...Broadcasting tower...Right. Cecilia kept making turns and finally reached a building. Is this the one I wonder? "If this is a trap we have nothing to fear.." she stood outside of the building looking it up and down. However, her mind...was on pizza.

Jayce let out a sigh as the girl called out his bluff. She wasn't naive, and it definitely didn't seem like she was someone who would be scared if he pulled out his knife. She had a strong aura around her, which was a warm welcome to the usual weaklings he ended up fighting. Whoever this person was, it wouldn't be possible to get what he wanted without a little violence.

He couldn't help but laugh out loud when she threatened to use violence if he moved. He wasn't afraid of her. He had taken on many people at his school, ranging from large groups to one on one scuffles. One girl with brass knuckles was childs play compared to what he's dealt with before. I could take you with one hand behind my back! Of course, he didn't say this out loud. The more she thought she had an advantage the better.

Suddenly, a loud voice was emitted from the broadcasting tower. Good, she'll look away, then I'll strike. To his dismay, she backed up before turning. She was out of range, and therefore rushing her would be dangerous. Bringing his hands down, he sighed, rubbing the back of neck while pulling out his knife with his free hand, looking at the girl as he spoke. "Well, I guess no use hiding my intentions. That noise means there are other people out there, just like us. However, it wouldn't be any fun if I just let you go without a fight, right? I won't kill you, don't worry. I just feel like having some fun is all." He stepped a few feet forward, holding his knife in his right hand. He never made the first attack, as counters were his specialty. He was watching intently for any muscle movement if she attacked so he could react and counter.

Ahara sighed. Out of all of the people that could have not been frozen like her, she was stuck with some lunatic. She spun around to face him, both hands behind her back as she calmly trotted towards him. Her early expression had changed to a innocent and dependent look. "There's more important things going on and all you can think about is hurting me?"

She continued towards the boy with both hands still behind her back. Once she was close enough, Alhara brought her arms out as if she was going to give the boy a hug, which was certainly within range to do, only to snap her head forward with a vicious headbutt. A simple slap to the face would've probably just pissed him off. This seemed much more appropriate to her.

This boy had asked for it, actually asked for a fight. The only problem with this that Alhara saw was who would treat the injuries should one of them be seriously hurt? As far as she could tell, any medic within at least 50 mikes was frozen in place. She have to restrain herself, otherwise a busted jaw or concussion could lead to death.

Jayce eyed the girl as she slowly walked towards him, unfazed by his threat. She definitely wasn't afraid, so either she was confident or stupid. The look on her face had changed, one that seemed more calm than before. She was trying to deceive him, trick him into thinking she didn't want to fight. He kept on guard, raising his left hand into a fighting stance with his knife still low. Of course, he couldn't help but reply to her statement. "It's nothing personal, I'm just bored is all. If I wasn't bored, we may be headed to that tower right now together. I guess you just got unlucky."

As she approached, the girl stretched her arms out, which Jayce guessed was a feign by the speed of the movement. He suspected an incoming kick, so he started to lean his upper body back slightly and brought his knife inwards towards the legs. Suddenly, she moved unexpectedly and brought her head barreling forward. Darn it! I miscalculated! Seeing his best option would be to match her, he brought his head crashing forward into hers. He definitely felt the force of the blow, feeling mildly dizzy and seeing a small trickle of blood run down his face, but he stayed in place. It would take more than a simple headbutt to throw him off balance. He quickly brought his left arm up, aiming to grab a hold of her left fingers and bend them back with enough force to injure them severely if not break them. At the same time, he went low with his knife, aiming for her knee. The main thing he had to focus on in this fight was those brass knuckles. He was sure he could take a few hits from them, but not much. Taking out one hand would limit that, and removing her leg would slow her down.

He felt a familiar thrill course through his veins. fighting was something he loved to do, no matter the situation. He had taken multiple injuries over the years, and yet he always came right back. Even at times like this where he should be more serious, he couldn't help but have some fun and play around. The severity of the injuries didn't matter to him, as long as he had fun.

She winced as their foreheads collided. She wasn't sure who was bleeding, probably her. That was a bit unexpected but whatever, she'd just go with it. With her left arm, Alhara wrapped it around the boy's side at the elbow to pin his knife arm down. Going directly for the knife was a good way to get cut. At the same time, she lined up her left knee to the boy's feet, keeping her brass knuckled right fist behind her. Though a cheap and dirty maneuver, a knee to the groin would be sufficient enough to make an opening large enough for non-lethal but fight ending blow from her steel covered fist. Even if it was blocked, she might be able to manage to deal a heavy blow to an arm at least.

The trick now however, was to wrestle him into a position that would enable such an attack to happen effectively. For the moment, it was a dead lock. Seeing as how her adversary still had a free hand, it was still very possible for him to turn things around. So her best option? With as much might as she could muster in her current position, Alhara pushed forward, her bloodied forehead still pressed against his.

The fiery was back in her eyes as she realized the sting of a small cut on her knee. "Ouch! You know any cut can be lethal now, right?" She was to pissed to wait for an opening now. Alhara wanted an opening now, so she brought her knee up to meet her target's groin.

He couldn't help but let a grin spread across his face as he felt his knife arm get locked at the elbow. It seemed that this person actually knew what she was doing. It may have been a bad idea to underestimate her. In fact, he suspected he might loose because of that. As he felt himself being pushed backwards, he kept his feet firmly planted on the ground, sliding slightly. It was key he didn't loose his stance, as she only had two possible moves, and one was very unlikely. She could either try to punch him with her free hand, which would be easy to block, or try some sort of attack with her legs. With his stance, it would be easy to shift accordingly and block. As she brought her knee up towards his groin, he managed to to move slightly, shifting most of the attack onto his left thigh. Still grazing his groin, combined with the force of the hit on his leg, Jayce buckled slightly, pulling his forehead away from hers.

He knew he had to end the fight fast. After that hit, his movement would be limited and she would be able to get another good hit in. Pulling away enough to open some room, he swept his right leg towards her feet, aiming to knock her down. At the same time, he brought his free hand towards her right eye thumb first. He planned to shove his thumb into her eye, lowering her vision. It wouldn't permanently blind her, but it would be enough. If she fell, his thumb would follow.

Following immediately from the attempted groin kick, Alhara had swung her right arm in a brass knuckled hay-maker aimed just below the shoulders. It didn't matter what the punch hit, as long as it wasn't the head as a headshot from a set of brass knuckles was likely to kill if it connected just right. So it was imperative that it struck a limb or the chest to avoid serious internal injury.

Just after her swing, she saw the free hand coming and instinctively shied her head away. With her focus away for the moment, her right leg collapse under impact, forcing her balance to shift. Releasing the boy's knife arm wasn't optional so she hugged tighter to both, avoid falling completely and giving another chance to get cut open.

Her gripped failed somewhat as her left hand slid to the boy's wrist. She wasn't quite on the ground but would be open. With a move that had a 50/50 chance of putting the odds in her favor or his favor, she dove for the boy's left knee, aiming to take it out with her shoulder. She didn't have time to properly plan out the attack, her only idea was to even the odds by downing the both of them.

Being too focused on his attack and the pain from the knee attack before, he couldn't react in time to the punch that had made its way to his left rib cage. He felt his ribs take a strong hit, almost toppling him there. However, he was able to follow through with his attack, and as she fell, he saw her grip on his knife hand drop onto his wrist, giving him more freedom and a chance to free his weapon.

Immediately as she fell, he brought his right foot towards her left elbow, hoping to push her arm away and make her loose grip. As this happened, he felt his injured leg buckle under the pressure of her shoulder. As he toppled forward over her, he made sure to keep his right foot in position in order to make her loose her grip.

Landing on his left hand behind her, he quickly turned around and lunged at his foe. If he had his knife hand free, he would attempt to grab her in a choke hold with her left arm strong enough to restrict breathing and limit her movement. He would then bring his knife towards her right shoulder, hoping to give it a deep enough cut to frighten her. His knife would then come around towards her throat and be held there as a threat not to move.

If his wrist was still being held, he would reach out and grab at her hair, pulling her head back and slamming it into the ground if he got a hold of it. He would then bring his right knee into the top of her head. He knew he had to end the fight quickly. His leg was barely holding out, his rib was bruised and hurting unbearably, and the pain from the mild groin hit was starting to surface. If his attacks didn't connect, he would most likely loose.

Alhara felt a hand clasp her her hair just as she rolled over to face the boy. An earsplitting pain cut through her head as she was jerked down into the hard surface below. Her vision darkened as the outer corner of her right eye turned black and colored spots formed. The right optic nerve must've been damaged by the impact, it would explain the black forming through her eye. Her vision in her right eye was beginning to fail.

With all of the remaining strength she could muster after the injury, Alhara swung her brass knuckles towards the incoming knee with all of her might. She couldn't afford to have another head injury, it would only help to assure that the damage would be permanent.

After throwing her last punch, Alhara tried to sit up but the pain in her head worsened severely and she collapsed. Her eyes flicked back and forth, trying to figure out what was happening now. Her vision was distorted and blocked by the colored spots and a black cloud that enveloped the right corner. The optic nerve to her right eye was definitely damaged. Not knowing what might happen next, she brought both of her arms in front of her face to protect herself against anything else that might happen.

As Jayce began to bring his knee towards the girls head to end the fight, he felt an earth shattering pain as his knee collided with the full force of her brass knuckles. He had never had his knee bone broken before, but from what he could tell that is exactly what had happened. He shot back with a quick jolt, rolling onto his side while clutching his knee, letting out a scream of pain as he did so. this was bad. He was worried he wouldn't be able to walk right with his previous injuries, let alone a shattered knee. As he slammed his fist into the ground repeatedly as he clutched his knee with his free hand, he considered that maybe fighting wasn't such a good idea.

Looking up as he gritted his teeth, he noticed his opponent was cradled into a defensive position on the ground. His attack had obviously been enough to end the fight. However, as he smirked he felt another jolt of pain shoot through his knee, causing him to scream again. He wasn't sure he exactly considered the fight a victory, considering how they were both unable to fight.

Still clutching his knee, Jayce forced himself to speak. "You...you...your pretty good." His voice was strained from the pain he felt all throughout his body, and he screamed shortly after once again. Even though he was disabled from the pain and possibly disabled until time moved again, he still felt enjoyment from the fight. It was just his messed up sense of fun taking over once again.

Alhara hadn't realized that the boy was speaking to her. Her hears had begun to ring once the adrenaline started to die down. As her arms went slack with exhaustion, she was left to stare up at the unmoving sky, alone with her thoughts swirling around inside her beaten cranium. She was too tired and beaten down to be mad anymore. Blinking didn't clear up her vision but at least the spots had disappeared. It took her a moment to remember that there was knife wound on her left knee, which had left a nice and sticky coating all over the inside of her pant leg.

She tried to speak but instead only a quiet groan of pain sounded. It quickly became apparent that she wasn't going to go any where for quite a while unless somebody picked her up and carried her. I went and got myself beat up and probably need to go to a hospital now... daddy's gonna be pissed.

Hospitals won't be operable right now though, a fact that should've prevented the fight from ever starting but Alhara just couldn't help herself. The boy asked for it after all. Now, she just hoped that somebody found her before she lost consciousness or something.

Alice decided to wander the park to see if anyone else was able to move.

She walked aimlessly, calling out: "Hey Someone? Anyone? Can you hear me?"

Alhara could hear someone shouting in the distance. It was like razor cutting through the ringing sound in her head. She slowly sat up, the frozen world spinning around her. It made her headache feel worse and she suppressed the sickening feeling it gave her.

She looked around for the source of the new voice in vain. It was too difficult to pick out a live target out of the frozen ones when her eyes couldn't see through the colored spots and darkness that clouded them. It took Alhara a moment to get to her feet as her balance was quite poor and her body exhausted. She stood up, mostly straight and looked at the boy beside her.

"I'm up first..." I win...

Jayce heard the call of someone else over the agony he was in. Attempting to stand up, his leg buckled quickly, causing him to fall back down on his good knee, forehead planted on the ground. Now that the adrenaline coursing through his body had subsided, he could feel a painful stinging on his ribs, as well as a sharp pain in his groin from the grazed knee from before. He held his knee fiercely while his other hand held between his legs. There was no getting up for him anytime soon.

He turned his head to look at the girl standing above him. His first instinct would have been to go for a leg sweep and hope to knock her off her high horse, but he was obviously incapable of doing that. Besides, after a fight like that, he wouldn't do something as low as that. Instead, a wide smirk spread across his face.

"Good... good fight," he managed to spit out from his pained state, "but what will... that other person think?" With that, he called out as loud as he could muster. "Help! I can't move and I need help!" He was hoping that whoever he heard before could hear him as well, and upon reaching the scene they would assume that he was the victim.
