Fantasy From The Ashes We Rise - IC

Lothric Van Aulen
Lower District

As Lothric sped towards the orc and his goblin minions, he'd had felt as if time itself had dramatically slowed down. He could hear a distant shouting coming from behind. The voice had an authentic Verdian accent, just like the one he heard earlier prompting him to quickly glance back away from his foes. An unfamiliar, mysterious, tall, lean, dark figure wearing a decorated mask was casually standing behind what seemed to be a postured half-orc, protecting a third party member. He paid no heed to the words as his eyes burned with fiery rage behind his cold steel helm. Once he had taken care of the orc, he would go for the Verdian next. Whipping his head back he saw that the orc was now solely charging towards him with a grim look of pleasure while swinging his massive duel bladed ax, cutting the wind in its wake. He had gladly accepted Lothric's challenge. The armored goblins in the meanwhile kept at a steady pace toward the group, closing the distance between them. Lothric was in no rush to save them since they were Verdian's. It would be best to let the goblins maul them while he dealt with the biggest threat. Afterward, he would finish what he they had started. Arrows continued to pierce the sky like an everlasting rain of deadly hail. Focused on the battle with the monster, Lothric was now drawn close to the battle raged Orc. Bringing his weapon out to the side of him, he dashed quickly to the Orc's immediate left while swinging his short blade into the Orc's upper torso, hoping to hit a vital blow.

As the Skirmish raged on, something within the realm of strange was happening between the group of survivors and the goblin hoard. The air became electrified with arcane power, that if one were experienced or even mad enough to attempt it, could harness it themselves. Moments later, the air before them was torn asunder, bolts of the raw energy frying the few goblins too close to the tear in the fabric of reality. Moments later a figure stepped through, covered head to toe in a strange metal. as soon as the figure was through, the tear sealed itself back up, leaving only the figure and the smell of fried goblin and ozone. "Oh dear... It apears my calculations were wrong..." The figure muttered looking about the destruction around him along with the charbroiled goblinoids. "Oh My! Terribly sorry, but you know how it is with Temporal Gates. Finicky constructs they are..." he muttered in a rather tinny sounding baritone. Turning his gaze to the half orc, he spoke once again. "Good Sir, would you happen to know the current month, day and year?"

After pounding half of the arrow group Xion turns to the mysterious figure in armor and says angrily but calmly"Its the 4th day of the 5th month and.....and"he kept stuttering the year he couldn't remember he was too angry so he just shrugged and continued to pound getting angrier."The year...the year...the year."He kept mumbling while he pounded more goblins.

"Oh my... This will not do, no this will not do at all..." The armour clad man muttered as arrows pinged and splintered across his metallic form. Releasing a deep sigh, the air around him began to crackle as he began to chant in a guttural speech, that could only be described as the essence of Evil. Each syllable a blasphemy on all that is natural and good.
"Nyth n'ghft ya stell'bsna n'gha. Ya sll'ha-yar-shugg geb, fm'latgh hlirgh hrii. Thrackerzos athg y-s'uhn!" The earth began to tremble as the air once more became charged with Eldritch Magic. Moments later, a second rip in the fabric of reality appeared, oozing darkness and foreboding. Tentacles soon shot forth from the tear, barbed and sinister, tearing apart the goblins and dragging a few through the tear. To say the least, the survivors would be left a gibbering mess as the last vestiges of their sanity was torn asunder from the experience. "There, Now all loose ends are tied up. The current year please?"

"Who gives a fuck about the year. There's still an Orc charging at the guy with a broken sword, and he doesn't have a leg," She said, pointing at Darius, before she decided to help the madman who challenged an Orc. "Oi! Dumbass! What the fuck do you think you're doing! Challenging a fucking Orc," Shirke said, now in the other side of the Orc. "...part the clouds of the ether and be released: Rain of Light." Altair designated the arrow goblins as his target and released his spell.

The beams of pure magical energy struck several of the archer goblins. They were knocked unconscious but not killed, which was Altair's intention. He was breathing slightly heavier as he felt his energy drain away sharply; Rain of Light was powerful and costly.

"Constricting cables of Umbra." The rest of the archers he bound together using two chains of darkness.

Leaving the orc to the loud knight with the broken sword, Altair swooped down and landed near the man missing hid leg. He tore several strips from a clean inner lining on his robe and started wrapping the man's stump with a practiced precision.

Hooves hammered the ground, Breaths panted rapidly, and Alister's horse was starting to get tired. As he arrived at the next village on he outskirts of the Arcadia farm lands. He got ready to jump off and shout his message. Alister's boots literally hit the ground running, So he began shouting "Arcadia has fallen! Arcadia has fallen!" His hawk, Theon flew low above his head. People peaked out of their homes to look for the source of the shouting, some even left to confront him. He ran to the village stage and showed off his messenger crest to verify to people that he actually was a messenger as a crowd gathered in front of him. "What happened?" a voice shouted from the back left of the crowd. "I don't know. I was traveling to Arcadia to deliver some messages from the outer regions and all I saw was rubble and ash. Many whispers broke out, for many of them were about "who did it? are we next? I had family there!" Alister stepped down from the stage in a hurry. "I must go. There are still many more towns and villages that need be alerted. Who knows if they could be next. I advise everyone to be prepared for the worst." He darted to his horse franticly. Theon scout for more people. this is important. he spoke in a unfamilar language. yes master the bird replied. Off he went in into the wind.... the Sky Rider.

Ruins of Arcadia
The orc, now long gone, the reaming group now had other problems to worry about. For instance, Darius unable to walk. And the murderous tension between the Verdian and the Arcadian. Though that wasn't what Shrike was focusing on. She was taking care of Darius' leg, doing the best she could to stop the bleeding. She looked up, "Does anyone have anything that would help with this?"

Leaving the orc to the loud knight with the broken sword, Altair swooped down and landed near the man missing hid leg. He tore several strips from a clean inner lining on his robe and started wrapping the man's stump with a practiced precision.

Altair kneeled down beside Darius and stretched out his black hands over the man's wound. Dealing with the orc and his forces had left Altair feeling drained, so he took the time to properly summon his power before using it. He took several deep breaths, with every outward breath causing a bit of the surround shadows to gather between his outstretched fingers. After gathering enough shadows to fully blacken the 6 inch space between his hands, Altair stretched out over the stump of the injured man's missing leg. "Please, cover and bind." He whispered softly to the shadows that lazily stretched out over Darius's stump and completely covered it before constricting enough to halt the bleeding. "Please, persist and remain." The shadowy covering darkened and solidified until it was a thick, shiny and slightly elastic substance ((like tar colored rubber)). Once the working was complete, Altair sat back on his heels heavily; maintaining that binding indefinitely was going to be taxing, and it already was.

Agaso Steele

Preparation and power only got you so far, and though the grey sky and thick smoke was beautiful Agaso couldn't stomach enjoying it. His knee pressed against the oak floor, or at least what was left of it, whilst he rested his weight against the stained broadsword before him. Plastered to the floor was his gaze, and his heavy breath pierced through the sudden silence that had befallen the city.

The remains of his house were scorched, dusty, covered in broken brick, and evidence of his stubborn resistance was everywhere, bodies cut open, helmets caved in, blood spatter. A few new cuts were evident on his arms, but nothing serious. Blows you had to be able to take if you had any place in combat. No, the source of Agaso's suffering came from the broken skeleton once known as his home, as well as the dead city that surrounded it.

Only this morning had he walked down the street with an apple in hand, having had a day off-duty. Children were laughing, the local shopkeeper had waved to him when he rounded the corner towards Patricia's garden. It didn't take more than an afternoon for that happiness to turn to ashes in his mouth. The children were now strung up along the few buildings that still stood, the local shopkeeper most likely dead, and Patricia... Well, he'd rather not think about Patricia.

When he finally stood, it was fire that fueled his motives. His muscles ached in protest, but there was no time for rest now. The dust rained from his cloak and separated on the floor before the clanking of his steel footwear. With his offhand he wiped the red blade of his sword clean on a dead soldier's tabard, the slid it into its sheath with a hiss.

However long he'd spent with his head down mourning, the dust and fires had dissipated ever so slightly. The street was cracked in places, filled with corpses and overturned carts, but still intact enough to be traversable. Not even birds called though, making the journey through the warzone eerily silent. Agaso already had a destination though, the last commotion he'd heard through the darkness had come from a few blocks over so that's exactly where he bent his step. Hastily.

---

There was little different about this area, save the large amount of dead goblins scattered over some of the ruins. Agaso was in luck, it seemed. A cloaked figure, unlikely male judged by the shape, stood over the still breathing body of a knight and a white-haired tiefling in a robe. An enormous half-orc, riddled with runes was there as well. It seemed they must've just had an encounter of some kind, the smell of magic and battle was particularly recent here.

Perhaps he should've showed more restraint, but the knight was an Arcadian Guard. Agaso even recognized the fellow, so he decided not to wait or even attempt to mask his presence. Instead he crossed the street directly, the beat of his greaves against the pavement giving him away immediately.

"Are you what's left of the city, now?" He asked in a monotone, bitter voice. The question was clearly directed much more towards the knight than any of the others. "You wouldn't know if the rest of the army is dead, would you?"

"Master that would be all within the area. I suggest we look for survivors in Arcadia" he nodded "yes lets go." Alister turned and headed back in the direction of what was left of Arcadia. It had come to point where there was so much rubble Alister dismounted and headed deeper in. "West winds give me sight, from thee who takes flight, with these bound words my eyes take the sky ...Sky Watch!" suddenly Alister's vision went dark for a few moments but soon came back to find himself looking down from the sky. "damn this is high." He thought to himself as Theon got closer to the survivors. After several circles Theon landed on the remains of a wooden beam. His white feathers made him so obvious and easy to see. When Alister's vision returned he drew his sword for safety and headed toward them. "Hey!" His Uniform made it seem like he is a Verdian soldier and with his sword drawn it looked like he was ready to kill. oh good there are still survivors

Darius winched and was shocked upon seeing his leg reattached. "Thank you." It was so little but Darius did not have much else to say. He hated having to lengthen conversations so he usually said what was needed then that was it. Then some person with a sword showed up obviously threatening him "Can we please get a break?" It wasn't as if Darius was lost already. He had no idea what had happened before. He just woke up in this destruction and had no idea what caused all of this.

Getting back to the group as he calmed down Xion noticed the orc was gone and he say multiple more people"Am I late to the party" he said sarcastically while walking back he also noticed a man with his sword up looking threating"More fighting come on"he said sighing heavily and slowly walking towards the man he realized how short this man was or how tall he was and even tho severely injured he was still able to fight.Getting about 10 feet from the man he stopped"Why are you here if its to fight then run back to wherever you came from"he put on a beastly face just to make himself look more of a animal than man.

Altair responded to Darius' thanks with a nod and a smile. He was about to explain that Darius would still need extensive healing to properly reattach his leg and they they needed to stay close together so he could maintain the binding, when a white hawk landed nearby and a man dressed like a Verdian approached with his blade drawn. Altair closed his mouth and merely sat there waiting to see if things escalated. He kept his hand on his staff, just in case he needed to make a hasty getaway.

Alister could see that face was just a front. Seeing things that others can't was his best strength "Honestly I did come to fight but it never really was suppose to be you. " Alister extended his arm outward at nothing with a long pause yelled. "Dulin yela tul a!" Then a loud scream of a hawk erupted from above, soon a shadow circled and Theon flew and landed on his arm. His feathers ruffled slightly by a soft breeze. "oh right the uniform." He sheathed his sword and took out his crest and showed it to them. "heh sorry for not showing this sooner."

Seeing the eagle land his arm and hearing he didn't want to fight immedately relaxed and nodded at the man"Well about damn time you came a hour ago you coulda been a hero"he pointed over to the group and then put his arm around the man"Here let me give you a tour there's a rotten stinch in this shithole that you might like"he smiled at the man and then asked"Whats ya name anyway man".

"sorry i had to warn other villages. if i don't do that I get killed by the board." he said, shrugging. Alister said this so casual it wasn't even funny. "Nice meeting you all. Alister Weath Vidar at your service." He bowed his head for a bit. "HEY! what about me!?" Theon squawked while flapping his wings. With a hawk that size it would be very intimidating. "shit geez ya chicken. this is Theon, The annoying parrot of mine." he looked at the bird that . "honestly can you be more selfish?" Alister looked crazy talking to this big hawk.

Altair watched the exchange between the half-orc and the named Alister, and following exchange between the man and his hawk with bemused amusement. He stifled a snicker as the hawk squawked with actual indignation at Alister's lack of introduction. It was definitely not the strangest thing he'd ever seen, but it was a sight nonetheless. Seeing that Alister carried the mark of a messenger, Altair relaxed slightly, but his grip on his staff didn't lessen as he diverted is attention to the cloaked man that was addressing the knight with the broken sword. Altair began breathing deeply; he'd just remembered that if he were going to fly out of this situation, he'd need to bring along the man, who's severed leg he was holding together with shadows, along as well.

Watching the man argue with his bird almost made Xion burst out in laughter but knowing better he just giggled"So that bird of yours its like your partner aye"he then looked over and observed some of the new people and sighed"Well isn't this a party"he mumbled to himself before noticing the man with no leg had it reattached but he could see some kind of aura holding it together.
