Lost Echo

With the satpines unbalanced, they were easy to pick off with her shuriken individually. It was slow, for there were so many--how were there so many? Were they near the nest? Or was the forest just so thickly inhabited? Or was it truly a nest with the young to protect? Sheโd assumed, like a fool, the term was as the flightless used, where they made berth. What could it mean if these monsters understood the care of fledglings as well as anyone?
At the last moment, she saw an incoming wave of spines. It was so bright that the thin shadows were hard to make out. Flaring a wing out, she sent out a spray of fire in return. She felt a few spines catch in her feathers with a grimace but ignored them for future her to struggle with to attack anew.
Angelicaโs voice caught her attention. Yes, the nest was their goal, but this was only the beginning. She was unsure if letting the rest escape afterward would be best, but figured it would depend on their capabilities then instead. She knew not to add to her current problems.
These were enough. โYes, let us not linger.โ Emmi and Razul opened up paths further into the forest. It seemed they were all in agreement. Still, if she could thin the attacks from those still in the trees, surely that would help. โIโll be above. No worries, Iโll keep up.โ She decided, launching herself upward with a gust of wind. She was quick to glide to a tree branch, using shuriken to clear it for landing. Though almost immediately, she jumped back across the path again. She could not hover, but with the buoy of her wind, she felt the ultimate freedom.
