For the Oscar: Actor vs Actor

GatoTechno

But, tomorrow, I asked what I wanted
"There's always newcomers. You're not making me nervous," Lore said to the director's assistant. "Get out of here, I have a scene to prepare."

Lore stood in front of the mirror of his room with a script in one hand and a comb in the other. The scene: Lore is having a drunken argument with another in a bar about a bet going wrong.

As Lore prepared to practice, he thought about what the assistant said to him. His partner in the scene was some sort of new actress on the scene. And, she's suppose to be very, very good. Lore, who was the proclaimed actor of the century, wasn't too sure who this new actress is. But, he wasn't worried. Actors come and go. They rise one day then fall the next. Not too many climb to his degree in stardom. Even then, Lore is at the very top.

Whoever his partner is, she should be arriving at any moment and brought to his room for a brief introduction. He was suppose to give her the tour of the studio and a quick synopsis of her character in the scene.

"I'm not going to do that. No one did that to me. She's on her own," Lore said to himself as he began to rehearse the scene to himself.

@hisokun

In truth, acting isn't her passion. But people say that she's very good at it. She could easily fall into step with her father, who's currently one of the owners of an Audi company. But she constantly reminds herself that she's doing this for her mom.

She enters the studio, her secretary trailing behind her. The director of the movie greets her with a smile, pulling her in for a brief hug. "It's nice to finally meet you, Celeste," he says politely. "I'm sure you're just as good as your mother."

Celeste smiles drily. "Uh, thanks."

Her role in the movie is a minor one, so she's not worried. She's been in movies before as the leading woman. Despite her lack of awards, she's been nominated, and that in itself is already a big deal.

"Lore will show you around the studio and tell you what you have to do," the director informs. "He's in his room."

Celeste nods and walks to his door, knocking it briefly. Lore is currently the top actor of the year, although rumours say that his attitude isn't exactly the best.

Lore ends his practicing with a sigh of relief and a satisfying smile. He's ready for the upcoming scene later today. He understands his character, the character's motivation, and what made his character drink in the first place. Lore only hopes his partner in the scene is up to par.

Hearing a sudden knock on the door, Lore makes his way and opens it in one swift motion. He takes his time looking over a young woman in front of him, flicking his lip as he studies her.

"You must be her," Lore says. "And your name is? They told me before, but I didn't bother to remember."

At least she looks decent. Lore was afraid she would be someone right out of high school or one of those "kids show" actresses. But, Lore couldn't help but think this woman is one of those "models turned actors". The director did tell him they needed more beautiful women in the movie.

"Did they provide you with your own room yet? They gave me this room when I picked to be part of this movie, but I'm sure if you want you can ask," Lore smirks. He steps to the side to allow her in. "Take a seat on the couch. You must be overwhelmed."

Overwhelmed? Not really. Her mother has been an actress for as long as Celeste can remember. She's been in sets, too, watching her mother play as someone she can barely recognise. As she moves inside the room, she takes in her surroundings. The air feels bitter, probably because it's too occupied by the man beside her. She has a feeling that they won't get along so well, but he has to suck it up if he wants the movie to be perfect.

She sits gingerly on the couch, swinging a leg over her thigh. "I'm Celeste Thorne," she says briefly. And I'm sure if you're not going to be a douche bag, we'll get along rather well, she wants to add, but she keeps her mouth locked, her face perfectly blank.

He has talent - that she has to admit. But if she ends up getting pissed at him because of his attitude, then he better make sure that he has it coming. Celeste may act like she doesn't care, but she's easily irritated by people like him.

Lore rummages around the mini refrigerator for a drink to offer. He holds a bottle of flavored water in each hand, his eyes bouncing from label to label. He twists his face and decides to offer Celeste the flavor he least likes.

"Celeste Thorn. Nice stage name," Lore hands her the flavored water before opening his. "I hope you like kiwi strawberry."

Lore pulls a chair closer to the couch and places it right in front of Celeste. He sits, legs spread in a comfortable manner, and eyes Celeste. She does look like she has some talent. Enough for this small part anyway.

"Ugh, let's see. What was I suppose to do with you again?" he takes a moment to think it over. "...oh...right...go over the script and your part in the scene. Did the director give you the script? I hope so. I hate sharing my copy with the underlings."
