Realistic or Modern "....Flowers In Your Hair." [Kaoru Asuna x Gears.]

Granite stilled a bit, no longer shuddering and sobbing- God- what was he doing. He tensed up a bit, but remained next to Ria, nodding thankfully before carefully shifting a bit- he didn't mind the embrace, but he still moved a bit further from her.

(I've got 20 minutes until I have to go, but I might be on again later.)

When he quieted, she held on for a few more seconds, then reluctantly let him go. She was still lying on her side facing him, but not touching him.

Being on the verge of tears had warmed her up a bit, but that heat and his body heat was quickly draining off. The heater at their feet was doing next to nothing. She wanted to lie against him, mostly for warmth, but also because being near him was comforting. But she couldnt get herself to ask, especially since he'd moved away before she'd let go of him.

(I have work for most of the day)

He tried not to return to her side when she let go- it had been nice- warm and close to one another. Now he had ruined it. He hid that annoyance at himself as he relaxed.

"Thank you Ria." He said, voice returned to the usual low tone he spoke with, feeling his eyes grow tired a bit- he would need to sleep soon. He listened to the outside world, wildlife's noise not lessened by the thin walls- he didn't hear Crystal as she knelt below the loft, laying among hay as she thought of Andrew- before sliding further out of sight before she fell asleep.

"Your welcome." Then she paused, before adding, "But if I'm being honest, it wasn't just for you. You're...comforting. I like being close to you. And it's significantly warmer." Truthfully, she wanted to just hold him.

He nodded a bit, moving closer. He wouldn't kiss her- that would be going too far. It would be a good idea to keep warm here.

Was his nodding saying yes, it's okay? He was moving closer, so she decided that was the right answer. She shuffled the blanket and gently snuck her arms around his chest, tucking in against him, her face by his neck. This wasn't the same as when she'd glomped onto him earlier -- she'd done that to get her kidnapped booze returned -- but it felt...similar. If they just lay there, warmer, calm, and fell asleep, she was fine with that. And if something else happened beyond that, she was alright with that, too.

Granite was glad for the warmth- but god was it intoxicating. He was tempted to go further- move closer; but no. He didn't know if she really wanted that, and he couldn't get involved in people. Crystal was a good friend, but she could handle herself- but if he fell for Ria- he couldn't protect her; this world was just too broken.

She was warmer already, just from a minute of contact. She snuggled deeper into him, slid one of her feet between his. This was so much better. And she was really enjoying being so close to him. She hadn't really ever done this with anyone before.

It had been a while since Granite had felt something like this- two years and... Stop. He had already grieved about it enough for today. He smiled a bit and wrapped an arm around her, holding close as he felt sleep creep ever closer; and he didn't even care that he didn't have a weapon on him- this was a horrible place to be if they where attacked- isolated and without a safe escape. Granite didn't care, holding her there. "My real name- It's Collin."

When he told him his name, she felt...special. How many people had he told that since he'd changed it? Maybe no one else. And maybe it didn't mean much. But it made her happy.

She moved her hand to the back of his neck and rested it there gently.

"Thank you," she whispered.

Granite smiled a bit- it felt nice to tell someone. Outside of the people that had lived in the town and a few people in the camp- but they where likely dead- or didn't care enough; they had been quick to suggest- or pester -him into making a fake name.

The touch felt nice- he smiled a bit in response and moved closer.

She paused when he held her tighter. It felt so good. She was becoming more and more aware of how much of her body was pressed against him. And she was starting to want things.
"When I said you were beautiful...it wasn't because I was drunk." She murmured. "One thing I don't do when I'm intoxicated is lie."

He blushed a bit, the words leaving him a bit- distracted. This was his boss, and this was no way to act. He didn't pull away, but cursed himself on the inside- staring into those eyes of hers. "Uh- you to;" That was stupid "Your not like anyone else out here- smart, nice- pretty." But I can't get involved with a client- can't get attached. He wiped some sweat from his head as he thought- looking around the barn. "Is it me or is it getting hotter?"

Ria smiled a little. "Maybe. Your face is, anyway," she giggled, brushing his chin with the pads of her fingers.
Then she said quietly, "You might be a better man than any I've met. And I've met a few."

Granite's blush got worse as he tried to look away- but he didn't shy away from her, maybe getting a bit closer.
"I'm- not a good person." He said quietly- remembering those days when he had first changed his name

"Neither am I." She murmured. "No one is. But people get better. And I think that's what you and I are trying to do. Become better."

She was this close to pressing her lips to his.

"I-I did bad things when I left my home; before Crystal and I got away." He said, voice a bit shaky as he looked into her eyes.

He craved those lips of hers- but did he deserve it? Love, affection?

"So did I, before Doc and Owen saved me. That doesn't mean your not worth anything. And right now, you mean a lot to me. And not just because I want to kiss you -- it's so much more than that." She hovered near his mouth, hoping.
