Yes the Torc Allta are scared of her because they can smell the Elder in her scent, they will likely do their best to avoid her.
As for the little tree thing, works for everyone, you simply put your hand any wooden surface of the tree and focus. A light trail of whatever color your aura is will guide you to wherever you need to go until our characters learn their way around.
The rooms are roughly all the same expect for some stuff meaning, Eli’s room has a lot of blue in it and he has a pedestal with water in it to practice water magic and scrying. People that use fire would have a ever burning fire in their pedestal and the room might have red, someone with air magic would have a pedestal that seems to generate its own breeze or maybe a perpetual thunderstorm , someone with earth would have like floating rocks, or plant life. It’s really up to you
