“You took Shadow to a work thing? He’s not exactly Mr. Personable.” Akari chuckled at the thought as she stared at her menu but something about the way Emi reacted was strange. The poor girl had always been a terrible liar and it didn’t help that her best friend was a literal detective. Getting all dressed up to go somewhere, taking Shadow, lying about it… was Emi dating the asshole or something? Sure it was weird Akari out but it wasn’t anything to hide, though she supposed she couldn’t say anything after hiding her initial fling with Asa. Esme had exploded and told everyone what was going on with Zuki and Daisuke, it even ended with Zuki stating that her and Daisuke were together. That came out of left field a bit, the two were clearly close bud honestly Akari had never seen the two of them act that way. They were both always so comfortable with each other, un flustered. Though she supposed when you knew each other that long and it blossoms into more maybe that’s how it was, comfortable and natural. She was happy for the two of them. “Zuki I know we haven’t known each other long, well personally and outside of me arresting you a few times. But just know I’ll help out whenever I can, within legal means of course. I think everyone at this table could use a reminder from time to time that I AM a cop, I can pull some shit too.”

“Hmm? The boys are coming here?” Akari looked up from her menu and over at her best friend with her eyebrow raised. What was going on with her? All day she had just seemed kind of off but Akai had equated that to just the normal stuff going on and the need for this upcoming vacation but the look on her face was something else entirely. She had lied about her work thing, at least Akari was fairly sure she had and now whatever phone call she had made her look like she wanted to die. “Emi are you doing okay?”

Soon enough they were being joined by the others, Akari noting that they all had pleasant looks on their faces when they walked in save for Shadow. Something definitely happened between him and Emi and Akari was determined to figure out what. Later though, at home when if things blew up at least they were out of public eye.

Asa sat bedsides her and Akari felt a small smile play on her lips. She was still emotionally drained from the discoveries they made the night prior but she had to admit it felt good knowing he wasn’t going to shut her out again. “Hey yourself.” Akari smiled a bit wider and adjusted in her chair so she could lean towards him and share her menu. “Mm, I usually lean towards refreshing stuff on days like today. I’m getting this, it’s a grapefruit drink. This tea here sounds close to the one you like from that place by your office.” She pointed to another drink on the menu and felt her face grow warm at a realization, when did they get like this? She was just thinking how Daisuke and Zuki must have gone so well because they were comfortable with each other and now Akari was sitting here able to tell Asa what he should order because she knew his regular order elsewhere? It was small but it felt deeper than surface level and it kind of embarrassed her. “What? Oh yeah!” She stammered as she glanced over at the bag, her head snapping back over to look at him when he complimented her. Who was this man? Not that Asa wasn’t kind but she had never once heard him openly compliment her in front of anyone else. Hell when they first met he had actually made her feel ugly dammit! “I-thank you.” Asa quickly moved to take a sip of his water and Akari watched as his face flushed, it made her chuckle a little, it was so odd to see him so flustered. She wanted to tease him about it but instead chose to not torture him in front of the others and simply reached over and laced her fingers through his.

“I am quite ready, I’ll admit at first I thought it was kind of silly but now I cannot wait to sit in the sun with a drink in my hand. I’m also quite excited to see how many times Asa can threaten to turn the car around because of you Crow.”

Candy

Their fun morning had taken a few twists and turns all of a sudden. “Wait you guys are getting MARRIED?” Candy squealed across the table from Zuki as Esme spilled the beans and she reached out to grab her friends hands in excitement. Candy loved love, she loved all the drama and cheesy romantic films, she loved seeing the simplest parts of it in real life, it was all just so amazing to her. Even if their marriage was starting as a scheme she could tell by the way Zuki spoke that it was far more than that. Her friend had continued on after Esmes announcement and confirmed Candys suspicions that only made the girl squeal again. “Oh Zuki I am so happy for you guys! God I can remember when Daisuke first told me he liked you. He was very very drunk of course and it was a very long time ago so I never thought much about it but it’s so sweet that he apparently still held onto that.” Candy finally let Zukis hands go and fell back into her seat with a grin on her face. Akari was speaking up as well and Candy found herself nodding in agreement, “Yeah whatever you guys need! I don’t know a lot about arranged marriages and such but it sounds like as long as Esme is on board it should be easy to get Daisuke out of the situation!”

The phone started ringing and Candy looked over to see Emi answering the phone to none other than Crow. A little bit of her was hurt that he called Emi and wasn’t responding to her texts but she tried her best not to be over dramatic about it. But whatever Crow did say to Emi seemed to devestate her and for a minute Candy was terrified another terrible thing had happened. However when Emi got off the phone she simply shared that the boys were coming to meet them.

The boys joined a few minutes later and they all fell into their spots but Candy couldn’t help but realize the tense air. Crow sat besides her and beamed like normal, acting as if nothing was wrong but clearly something had Shadow in a mood. “We did! It was kind of nice to go out and do something normal without any crazy shit happening.” She laughed and watched as he asked the others about how ready they were for vacation. “What about you guys? What did you all go do today?” Candy was already curious about it because of the shady way Crow was acting this morning before the girls left but now seeing Shadow so prickly she was even more intrigued.

“Honestly we’re did you guys go?” Candy finally blurted after hearing Asa and Akari across the table. “Like did you all go to some weird body switching lab or something? Shadow looks like he’s going to kill someone, well more than usual. Daisuke looks so fucking serious. Asa is being OPENLY NICE, which is something I haven’t seen him do in the past ten years. And Crow, well maybe you let him stay in the car or something but seriously you boys are weirding me out!” She rambled and felt out of breath by the time she was done. “I’m sorry, I- that was word vomit. But everyone is being so weird and I’m over it because it was a good day and we’re all about to have an amazing vacation! I will be damned if all of Emi and Crows hard work goes to shit because we’re all acting shady!”

Shadow;Kage

Wait, how did things go so bad so quick? Did he let it slip truly? No, I mean kind of but no! “I’ve just heard stories! I mean there’s a reason those girls lived on their own so fast don’t you think? Neither Akari or Emi have shit to do with their families so I assume her dad has to be a royal asshole.” Kage struggled to stay afloat with his lie as he quickly tried to explain himself but it seemed that Crow had already taken the slip up and ran with it. “I’m not hiding anything and I don’t need to talk marriage with her because again I DIDNT MEET HER PARENTS AND I DONT DO RELATIONSHIPS. And for the love of GOD stop calling yourself dad.” Kage sighed and shoved a hand through his hair as he pleaded with Crow while Daisuke and Asa gathered their purchases and settled up with the shop.

“Crow! Dammit I told you I didn’t meet them!” Kage could have strangled the man right there as he watched him pick up the phone and dial Emi but they were in public so he chose to save the beating for when they were back in the privacy of their own home. Before he could get the idiot to listen to him he was off the phone with Emi and the men were all on their way to the cafe. If they thought he was in a sour mood before he sure as shit was in one now.

The short car ride over he was silent, stewing in all of the thoughts from their time at the ring shop. Was he lying to himself? He always swore he wouldn’t get anyone involved with his life but here he was, running to her rescue, taking her on stakeouts, protecting her, thinking about her day in and out. Before this morning he thought of it all as a burden but the way Daisuke and Asa both explained things made something click for him. He did all those things because he wanted to, it wasn’t easy but they were making it work, the two of them didn’t mesh traditionally but they enjoyed being around each other and had found ways for their lives to coexist. Was Kage breaking his own rules? The more he thought about it the more he realized he might have been. Last night when they found out about Emi’s engagement he was furious but didn’t understand why, maybe now he did.

They found the cafe and Kage trailed behind the other guys inside and found the table with the girls and Pepe. Kage didn’t want to be here. He was struggling with his own mind enough already he didn’t want to see Emi and make it all that much more confusing. Only it seemed it couldn’t be helped, everyone fell into their seats and of course it left him with the one next to Emi and the moment his eyes landed on her his heart shattered. Why did she look so upset? Was it still residual from last night? He supposed he couldn’t blame her but still…

Kage sat down besides her and kept his head down, not saying a word. All around him the others were talking and he was having a hard time keeping up with it until Candy began her rambling. “I’m sorry if my attitude isn’t up to par, I was dragged out of my room this morning against my will to go fucking shopping.”

Daisuke Tanaka

Daisuke couldn’t help but laugh at Crows declaration, “Chop them in the throat huh? Well better get a move on that plan Crow. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve watched men ask Candy out at the bar and I’m not sure how long she’ll hold out hope for you.” Of course he knew she would probably wait forever but it was far too fun to get Crow riled up.”And Asa it is wildly refreshing to see you be honest and care about a lady rather than just sleeping with your pretty clients and avoiding any sort of emotional attachment at all costs. I’d say I’m rather proud of all of us! Well… all but one.”

Daisuke shot another look at Kage as the man tried to explain to them but sometimes Daisuke thought his friends forgot that he had a professional bullshit detector called being a lawyer. “Yeah well don’t do they or do them I don’t care, just make sure you’re being honest with Emi. She’s bubbly and strong but she’s emotional and attaches easy. You’re my best friend but I won’t tolerate you hurting her Shadow.” Before Daisuke could say anything else Crow was getting riled up again and he looked over at the man with a raised brow. Wait, he was right. Kage had just mentioned Emi’s dad.

Kage attempted to plead with and explain himself to Crow but Daisuke just sat back and listened. What Kage said could have been honest but something just felt so off about how adamant he was at explaining himself, if he hadn’t actually met the man Daisuke felt like Kage was the type of guy to just shrug it off. He chose to stay quiet for now but… something was definitely going on there.

The guys went to the cafe after Crow called Emi and once there Daisuke his sets next to Zuki with a grin. “How was shopping love?” As he sat down he planted a small kiss on her cheek before reaching out to take a menu from the table. It felt strange but good, a day ago he had been terrified for anyone to even see them together but deciding to not care was so freeing. It felt so good to just let himself try to be happy. He knew it wouldn’t be easy but it felt good to at least try. “Oh I am VERY excited for vacation.” Daisuke chuckled and beamed over at Zuki. He had already decided they would do their small excuse for a wedding while away on vacation, he wasn’t exactly sure how yet but he now had the ring and the girl and those were the two most important parts.

At the other end of the table Candy started freaking out for lack of another way to put it and Daisuke rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “I promise it was nothing sneaky, just some shopping I had to get done that I’d like to keep the results of secret for now if we don’t mind.” He tried his best to keep a light mood but Kage’s response to Candy made Daisuke sour slightly. “Your piss poor mood is a result of the fact that you don’t know how to fucking function socially Shadow. Not a result of me asking my friend to go with me on an errand you ass.”

“I don’t know why you’re so bent out of fucking shape about what Crow said unless it happened. I don’t know how a man of your profession can be such a pussy when it comes to maning up but lord is it honestly amazing to watch Shadow.” It was rare that Daisuke got this intense but he was quickly getting pissed off with the way his friend was acting.

Sunny

Everything felt like it was crumbling around Emi and it seemed like Akari knew something was up. There wasn’t time for her to say anything though, they boys were soon joining them and taking their seats at the table. When Kage sat next to her she felt herself nervously bunching up the napkin she had in her lap. Normally she would have greeted him with a smile, she wanted to show all the sweet treats this place had with her usual enthusiasm and ask how his day was. Unfortunately, Emi couldn’t bring herself to look over at him. He had never promised to keep the dinner a secret, but it had been so terrible she didn’t think he would have brought it up. Not until she was ready at least…

Candy went in about everyone’s attitudes and Emi gave a nervous smile as she tried to fake her normal energy. Kage responded in an irritated tone and, to her surprise, Daisuke pretty much bit his head off. “H-Hey, he works a lot of weird hours and he’s tired. It just makes him extra grumpy sometimes…” Despite not being able to look at him she didn’t want him to be put down. She was just going to lie through her teeth about the dinner, but she didn’t want him to be insulted! “He told you we met with my parents, right? Last night we didn’t go to a work thing. It’s true we went to dinner…it was horrible like every other one. Akari was busy a-and I didn’t want to go alone, he was just helping me out. He’s the best, really. Who else would have went to such an awkward affair with me?” The cheerfulness in her voice was strained and forced, but she refused to have a breakdown in front of anyone.

Underneath the table Emi was wringing the life out of the defenseless napkin. “I think I left my wallet at the boutique. I’ll meet you guys back home.” With that said Emi quickly stood and made her way out of the cafe, not looking back as she struggled to maintain her composure. She didn’t lose her wallet, she just needed to get away from everyone to breath.

Emi held up in her room packing for the rest of the night. Between drinking wine, crying, and packing she lost track of the time and ended up passing out on her bed with Gus Gus laying in her luggage. Thankfully she had set an alarm for 6 in the morning; she got up and ready, tossed on some black shorts, a yellow tank top, a black hoodie and yellow flip flops. Asa had the van in the driveway for them so they could leave at 7. It was a four hour drive to their villa, Crow had wanted to leave bright and early so they could enjoy their day.

After they all got on the bus she gave a small hello to them before tucking herself away in the back. Her hood was pulled up, headphones were in, and she decided to sleep for the duration of the drive. What should have been a four hour drive turned into six though with all of the stops they made. She welcomed the alone time on the bus though, it was Emi’s first time experiencing heartbreak and she wasn’t feeling great. “Oh! It looks nicer than the pictures!” The bus finally stopped after taking the winding path down to the villa on the beach. The sand was white, the water was crystal clear. The villa was large enough for everyone to have their own room and also had the hot tub and pool, the property had waterfalls, hot springs, and plenty of hiking trails! “Alright everyone, we survived the drive now we should all have fun!” Emi had finally worked up the energy to be the chipper spirit they needed. She hopped off of the bus, opened the hatch, and grabbed her large suitcase. This would be a great vacation, she just had to stop sulking.

Everyone was so ecstatic about the wedding that Zuki was actually surprised. Friends, love, it was something she had never pictured for herself. After a life of torment, abuse, and murder she had never once seen her life going in this direction. She had never found herself thankful that she was brought to this city. But, here she was, holding back tears of joy. Who knew those were real things? “You guys are more excited than I thought anyone would be about this. But…thanks. It’s kind of nice.” Zuki smiled as Candy released her hand, her dark brown eyes looking up at Daisuke and the others as they entered the cafe. “So I heard you told our favorite bar tender that you liked me forever ago?” Though the smugness in her voice was lost when he kissed her cheek and called her love. Just talking about their status had Zuki all flustered, now he was just openly displaying it? Her whole face went red. She didn’t exactly hate it.

“Oh, shopping? It went fine. How’d your sudden excursion go?” Although she wasn’t a detective and she wasn’t a lawyer, dammit she knew when someone was hiding something. “Secret shopping sounds like some shady stuff if you ask me…but I’ll let it side this time.” Zuki gave Daisuke a sweet smile, though the mood shifted after that. Shadow became super defensive and Daisuke was angry at him? When did that happen? The guy was his best friend as far as she knew. “Hey now, guys-“ It was Emi who came to Shadow’s defense, and rather quickly. Something about a dinner with her parents? The poor girl looked like she was going to cry. No wonder she lied about where they had went to. “Wait, Emi-“ but the girl was gone and caused Zuki to let out a long sigh.

“Candy’s right, today was awesome and this vacations going to be great. Don’t bring up anything that’s going to cause an issue, Crow.” Zuki gave a partial side eye glance to Daisuke too. They didn’t need issues on this trip. It was supposed to be fun. If there were issues between Shadow and Emi then they could handle it like adults. Zuki didn’t have a maternal bone in her body but she was going to make sure everyone stayed in their own lane.

—-

That night Zuki went out on her own to pick up something Esme helped her pick out. Daisuke was better than some simple gold or silver wedding band and he typically wore black with every outfit. Plus, black went with everything right? Maybe she was overthinking it. Anyways, Zuki bought matching rings they could use as their wedding bands. If he wanted to wear it, of course. He still had to marry Esme and pretend they were married for sometime she’d imagine. The thought turned her stomach but it wasn’t like they’d really be married…

Once back at the Fixers she tucked away the rings into her luggage before calling it a night. She had never been to the beach, or hiked, so she just packed a little of everything. Her travel attire in the morning? Black leggings, crop top, hoodie, and boots. On the bus she found herself in one of the obnoxiously plush chairs of the bus next to Daisuke, near the window so she could look at everything. It was her first time out of the city, she was as giddy as she could be.

“Crow despite yours and Asa’s arguing the whole time, the drive was pretty entertaining. Kind of like an in flight movie? Only, for far longer than a movie would play.” And it seemed Emi was in a good mood now after her nap! Zuki got to see small towns on the way, a bunch of trees, animals. Things she had only seen in magazines and on TV. It made her realize how much in life she had been missing being some high paid assassin. “According to television we’re all supposed to go get in our swimsuits and lay on the beach. It’s a sunny day, so we probably need some drinks. Does this place have alcohol?”

Crow

Crow was SO excited for this vacation. He had even got a whole bag of sunscreen like Candy asked! There were too many to pick from so he just bought one of every one. Everyone but Shadow seemed excited about the vacation but he had hoped he got on board soon! And thankfully Asa agreed to drive the bus…like he really had a choice. Crow just wanted to sit on the bus and look at the sights with Candy.

Someone didn’t tell him Asa wouldn’t stop at every cool sight seeing spot. Or, that he was just trying to drive there with only stopping for gas? Crow knew he got a bus with a bathroom because it sounded cool, but come on. They needed to stretch their legs every hour! Every time Crow told Asa to stop because he wanted to see something he ignored him! How were they supposed to make road trip memories if they never stopped? Was Asa that big of an incompetent fool? The pair started arguing as soon as they got out of the city. Asa wanted to stick to the quickest route, Crow wanted to take the scenic route! The man even threatened to turn the bus around if Crow didn’t sit down and shut up. Five times, actually. The fake doctor was all talk.

“I’ll just drive on the way back. We can stop to see all the cool shops and sights then. Make a goddamned whole day of the bus ride. Bitch found time to stop the bus for nicotine patches but not sightseeing? Ridiculous. The guy didn’t even smoke? “Candy, babe, you were my only saving grace on this trip. I’m so sorry we couldn’t stop at all the sights, I tried SO hard to make memories with you on this trip. Alas, the bus driver seems to hate all of us. Truly tragic.” Crow tossed his arm around Candy with a heavy sigh as they departed the bus. Before he could even grab his bag he was picking up hers with a big grin on his face. “Everyone don’t forget there’s a boat! A fancy one. I’ll be driving it tomorrow! Not to brag but I have over 100 hours into boat simulator.”

He wheeled their luggage up the path into the villa. It was large, had food stocked for the week and a whole bars worth of alcohol. There was no TV but they really wouldn’t need any of that this week. It’s not like they’d be stuck in the house. That was the goal for the vacation at least, to make fun memories. And to ask out Candy, but that last one he couldn’t say.

Doc

It was nicotine patches and gum or a cigarette and a gun to his head, that was how bad the trip was. While Asa drank his tea and tried to enjoy the cafe with Akari Crow went on and on about the trip. Fine, it’d be great. But Asa knew Crow, he knew he had ulterior motives than just flying down. The fucking bus. Asa made Crow PROMISE that he’d be quiet during the drive, that he’d just let Asa concentrate on driving the bus. He had never drove a vehicle this big and all he wanted to do was just focus on driving. The constant nagging from him, the demands to pull over or take the fucking scenic route? He’d have drove back home but for the love of fuck they had already gotten the time off for everyone. It didn’t stop him from threatening to pull the bus around though.

In addition to getting gas Asa pulled off to get more patches. At this point he had four of them on, he was fucking buzzing. It kind of took the edge off of Crow, made him SOMEWHAT tolerable. “A boat, yeah, I fucking love that idea. I say you take the boat back then, the others and I will drive back in silence.” Asa angrily shoved the keys into his pocket and gave a grumpy huff. “You had me at drink. I second a day in the sun and drinking, after that fucking bus ride I think we all need it.” Asa immediately grabbed his and Akari’s bag before making his way inside. Rooms were upstairs, right?

“Akari do you have a preference to which room you have?”

Sherlock

Everything exploded at the cafe and Akari watched it all with wide eyes. Daisuke was going at Shadows throat and before she knew it Emi was nearly crying as she came to his defense. “Emi you could have just asked! I would have went with you like always.” Akari felt terrible that she wasn’t there to go with, she knew how bad those dinners were and for once she actually felt like Shadows bad mood might be warranted. But this was different, clearly something more happened than Emi’s family’s usual bullshit. Akari didn’t get the chance to ask however because soon enough Emi was tearing out of there with some excuse about her wallet that Akari knew was bogus. She turned and looked at Shadow and tried her best to keep calm. “I don’t know what happened at that house, and trust me I know how terrible it can be. But I do know that that’s the first time I’ve seen you come around and Emi not light up. So whatever you did to upset her, you fix it. You aren’t going to ruin this vacation for her or anything else for that matter. Now go home like we all know you want to and work on your attitude.” She sat forward in her seat and lowered her voice as she said the next part , “And I’ll remind you that you’re not the only one in that house that knows how to use a gun. Don’t make me show off.”

The rest of the night went as smoothly as it could, Akari got packed and tried her best to get some sleep before they left the next morning. Of course she wanted to go check in on Emi and see what was going on but the girl was locked up in her room the entire night and Akari knew she would get no where.

The next morning they all got into their spots in the bus, Akari was going to take the time to try and talk to Emi but she went straight to the back and put in her headphones. So instead Akari sat in the plush seat closest to the driver so she could keep Asa from killing Crow and vice versa. Her outfit for the ride was a pair of black yoga shorts and a large loose white t shirt and her hair tied into two small pigtails at the nape of her neck. “Asa…” Akari chuckled as he huffed at Crow, following him off the bus and outside where he grabbed their bags.

This place was amazing. Akari looked up at it all in awe for a moment before shaking the sparkles from her eyes and hurrying to follow the others inside. Maybe it wouldn’t be so hard for her to forget the drama about her mother while she was here… maybe this would actually be exactly what they all needed. Emi and Zuki both seemed to be in good spirits and of course so was Crow, so Akari decided she would do her best to focus on the good as well.

“Right drinks and the beach. Sounds amazing, and maybe SOMEONE will chill out.” Akari chuckled and reached forward to squeeze Asas arm as she teased him. They made their way upstairs to all the rooms and Akari quickly realized they were all as beautiful as the rest of the house. Asa asked her if she cared what what one she took and she shrugged, “Not really I guess.”

However this was her time to say something if she was going to… Akari had been thinking about their vacation during the drive and about how Asa had been at the cafe the afternoon before. He had been trying with her, honestly. It was only fair that she did so as well, plus she wanted to know what they were? Clearly the two of them had feelings for each other and they had been intimate before but, ever since finally admitting it to each other after the crash that was it. Were they dating? Were they a couple? Hell they hadn’t even kissed again ever since then, thought she supposed they really hadn’t before either…

“I was actually thinking, what if we shared a room? I mean that’s what couples do on vacations right?” Akari felt her face radiate with heat as she spoke, she was completely unable to look at him as she did, still making a show of looking in the different doorways of the bedrooms. “Of course w-we don’t have to! It was just a thought!”

Candy

Everyone seemed to say their piece and after that things calmed down quite a bit. Candy only hoped that it meant everyone would be in better spirits tomorrow for the start of their vacation! Back at the house Candy finished packing and had dinner with the few people who didn’t hole themselves up in their room. She made her last plans with the girls at the bar and even let Pepe know Esme was welcome to hang out behind the bar but only if she swore not to try and be a bartender.

Then it was time! They were off! Candy wore some loose tie dye t shirt dress with a neon green hoodie over it for the ride. She sat besides Crow and looked at the sights out the window with him as they drove. Well that is when Crow wasn’t yelling at Asa about something. Candy tried multiple times to assure Crow that it was fine they weren’t stopping, that it was nice just to be out doing anything in general but he never let up for the entire ride.

“Crow really it’s okay! I loved the ride! We got to see a lot of cool stuff AND get here quickly, sort of… a happy medium!” Candy giggled as he threw his arm over her shoulder and gave him a knowing look, “Crow don’t stress the whole time about making memories or you’ll miss the ones that really count okay? It’s day one and I’m sure we’re all going to have an amazing time!”

They made their way inside as Crow bragged about the big boat and his plan to drive it and Candy had to admit the idea made her a tiny bit nervous. “You do know that the game and real life are probably VERY different right?” She laughed and looked around as they entered the house. It was all gorgeous, she couldn’t believe how amazing it all already was. Never in her life did she think she would get to stay at a place like this…

Akari and Asa went upstairs to pick rooms and Candy instantly ran over to the windows that overlooked the scene out back. “I don’t care what room I get!” She could barely hold her excitement anymore as she bounced back to the kitchen. “Everyone get dressed, I’ll make us up a cooler to take down to the beach then get dressed to. Chop chop!”

Candy found a medium cooler under the bar and filled it with ice from the freezer before gathering some goodies. A bottle of rum for shots, some assorted wine coolers and tropical fruit for garnish as well as a stack of cups for them to make mixies in. After it was ready Candy found where Crow had placed her bags so she could get changed as well.

She found the metallic swimsuit and pulled it on before grabbing the neon green coverup and pulling it on as well. Once dressed she made her way back down to the kitchen and closed up the cooler before yelling. “Can someone find towels?”

Daisuke Tanaka

Daisuke didn’t miss the look that Zuki gave him so he chose to shut up for now. That of course didn’t keep him from saying anything later though. When they got back to the house Daisuke went to find Shadow and asked him what his problem was, of course that led to the two of them fighting for a few hours but then finally they calmed down and talked for a long while. So long that it was nearly time to get on the damn bus.

On the bus Daisuke sat besides Zuki, nodding in and out of sleep while she watched the sights pass by them. Occasionally when he woke up he would talk to her about the things she saw with a grin on his face but shortly after he would be asleep again. Shockingly he was even able to sleep through Crow and Asa fighting the whole damn way. He only woke up when they parked and Zuki shook him awake gently. “We’re here? Finally.”

They made their way inside and shortly Candy was ushering them all off to get dressed so they could get down to the beach. “Here, let’s take our bags upstairs and get dressed before Candy yells at us.” He chuckled and lifted up Zukis back and his own as they made their way towards the stairs. He paused to look back at Shadow and gesture his head towards Emi before disappearing up the stairs.

“Here Zuki, this room has a good window. You should take it.” Daisuke smiled back at her as he placed her things at the foot of the bed. She had been so happy to see the outside of the city that it only felt right to get her a room with a good view. “I’ll stay across the hall, get changed then I’ll meet you downstairs.” Daisuke left to his own room and closed the door to quickly get dressed. He wore a pair of simple swim trunks, red with white stripes along the sides. Once dressed her went downstairs just in time to hear Candy yell for towels.

“I got you!” Daisuke was much more awake now and excited to spend this time forgetting all their worries back in the city. Here he could just be with Zuki, unapologetically and unafraid of who may be watching them. He was going to make the most of it.

Kage;Shadow

Why was everyone so mad at him!? It was Crow that started all of this! He literally didn’t say he had met her parents, Crows overactive imagination and LACK of manners just HAPPENED TO BE CORRECT FOR ONCE. Akari kind of sympathized with him but she ended her sentence with a threat so even she was mad! And what did she mean about light up? That was just the way Emi always was! It had nothing to do with him! She was just still bummed about her dad right?

Shadow had gone home after that like he was told and went straight to his room. He didn’t speak to anyone until Daisuke forced his way in and began arguing with him. Of course they were both so stubborn that it took a while for them to calm down and listened to one another and finally they came to an understanding of the issue. Emi hadn’t wanted the others to know about the dinner and even thought Kage didn’t TELL anyone, she felt as if he did. If he was understanding the way Daisuke explained things at least… Kage was starting to think he would never understand people. Though he supposed that was expected from someone who spent most of his life alone…

Kage didn’t understand why he cared that she was upset, or why he cared when she was mad or why he cared about making sure she was safe. Daisuke tried to explain that too but it was all just so far from his realm of understanding that it was a lost cause. Kage didn’t do or care about understanding people until Emi came along and it was so damn frustrating!

The entire bus ride he watched Emi, thinking about what he should say or how he should say it. She slept most of the ride so he never got a chance but even if he did he knew he would butcher it!

They arrived at the house and Kage followed them all inside, listening as they decided it was time for the beach and a drink. As everyone split up to get dressed he caught Daisukes look and let out a huff as he made his way over to Emi. Kage reached out and took the handle of the suitcase she had brought inside before picking it up so it was off the ground.

“Let me know what room you want okay? I’ll carry this upstairs for you.”

The beach and some drinks, that sounded amazing! The last time Emi was on the beach was with Akari in Bora Bora before they graduated. It was their last trip before the split from her parents house, but they weren’t allowed to drink or cut loose…not that they really had anyone to do all that with anyways. She made a mental note to spend some time talking to Akari at some point in this trip. Not about moving out and back to her dads house, but just apologize for being so distant lately. It was a rare thing to see her best friend so mushy about someone, Emi wanted her to enjoy it! She deserved it, and Emi didn’t want to weigh down her best friend with all of Emi’s emotional baggage.

Once inside the villa she sat down her bag for a second to look around and admire the place. It was so cozy on the inside, there was even a fireplace! The couples could enjoy cuddling by it and Emi-well, she could roast marshmallows for everyone. She didn’t notice Kage move to her side until she went to reach for her bag that had already been picked up. “Hmm?” Was he talking to her? “Okay? T-Thank you.” Her face lit up and she tucked some of her maroon hair behind her ear as she ran up the stairs to the rooms. Emi was still avoiding looking at him, she really didn’t know what to say. Honestly Kage hadn’t done anything wrong and yet she was so upset, she really didn’t understand why she felt like this.

At the end of the hall she reached to take her bag from him, her hand brushing against his as she did and causing her face to heat. “I’m sorry I’ve been weird, we’re on vacation so I’ll just suck it up. Let’s have a good time okay? It’ll probably be my first and last vacation with everyone. So! Get changed and let’s have a drink with our friends.” Though her tone was chipper she found it difficult to look up at him. It was still the same Kage, why was she being such a baby about this? Quickly she slipped into her room, tossed on the white floral suit and pulled a yellow jacket on to cover the purple bruise on her arm. She tied her hair into a loose bun the proceeded to walk down the stairs. Candy had the booze, Daisuke had the towels, so Emi grabbed a couple beach blankets so they could lay on the beach.

In the back of the villa was the pool, hot tub, fire pit and lounge chairs. The gate opened up to let them walk straight out to the warm white sandy beach and clear water. Some sun, booze and water would lift all of their spirits up.

Was it bad that Zuki felt a little disappointed Daisuke didn’t want to share a room with her? Maybe she had been wrong that they were a couple now. Fuck, after saying they loved each other she thought they were pretty much official. “Thanks.” As he left her room she let out a small sigh and rubbed the back of her head, walking to the window to admire the view. He was right, she could see the hills and trees leading to the mountains. Good thing she brought some boots, exploring was definitely on her list of todos on this trip. How were they supposed to get everything done in just one week? First things first, drinks on the beach with everyone.

Once she was changed into the suit she looked herself over in the mirror. It looked good, the girls agreed but wasn’t it a bit too much? It was black, it had chains, and it revealed pretty much all of her tattoos. It screamed Zuki. Besides, she didn’t have another suit to fall back on. This had to be it. “Fuck it.” With a heavy sigh she walked out of her room and noticed Shadow carrying Emi’s bag for her. Did Emi say first and last vacation? Was there something else up with them? “Oi.” Once Emi was in her room Zuki decided to approach Shadow. “I figured with the nature of your job you’re pretty much a loner like I am. This emotion shit is hard, trust me I get it. I’m overthinking everything. Just relax, she’s a good girl and she won’t judge you. It kind of feels nice to open up to someone. Besides, are you afraid of her getting hurt or are you afraid of getting hurt?”

With a small shrug Zuki turned to walk away. “At least you have your real name to tell someone. I don’t know shit about myself. Do it before you lose your chance to, yeah?” Harping on him wouldn’t help at all, all she could do was give some honest advice. “I like the red on you. Need some help?” The black haired female slid besides Daisuke as he gathered all eight of the towels, smirking to herself as she stole the top four.

“Trust me, I was completely chill before that ass opened his mouth like he was the goddamned GPS.” With a small huff Asa made his way down the hall with Akari to look through the doors at the rooms. Honestly the man didn’t care if he relaxed, he was more worried about Akari getting some R&R. Despite him saying not to stress about the whole mother situation he could see it in her eyes and demeanor that she was still stressing about it. If the roles were reversed and his mom had killed her family? He could completely understand why she was overthinking everything. “Pardon?” Did she just say that? Couple? That completely took him off guard. But in a good way! And it made him perk up, instantly forgetting about the whole drive.

Asa cleared his throat and merely strolled into a room with a balcony attached to it. “I did hear that the bears around here break into homes, most particularly rooms on the second floor. It wouldn’t be right me leaving my girlfriend alone, defenseless against the bear…though I do hear you’re good with a gun.” It was Asa’s turn to tease her this time, though his pale cheeks heated as he did. He laid their luggage on the large bed with way too many decorative pillows, popping open the clasps on his suitcase. The necklace was hidden underneath his clothes and other items, but he wanted to wait until the perfect moment to give it to her.

On top of the clothes laid a pair of simple black trunks with two white stripes running down the side of each legs. They hadn’t been intimate with each other since before the accident, there had been some heavy emotions since then but he was sure that he loved this woman. Had he said it? No, not yet. But he was trying to express it and work himself up toward announcing it. His free hand cupped one of her cheeks, his lips landing on hers passionately for a long moment. As he parted the kiss he pressed his forehead to hers, his thumb gently stroking her cheek and he stared down into her eyes. “I’ll meet you down there, take your time.”

Asa tried to play it smooth but his heart was POUNDING. He went down the stairs and changed in one of the bathrooms before making his way out onto the beach. “The sun is bright, where is Crow with all that damn sunscreen?”

Crow

Candy said not to stress about making memories but, dammit, when else were they going to get on vacation together? He wanted to do absolutely everything this place had to offer and show her the best time. Crow would have enjoyed staying home and sitting in the pool but, Candy deserved time off. She needed some good memories and Crow was going to give them to her dammit! “Yeah, yeah. I’ll take it easy woman. Yeesh.” He’d try to live in the moment. Key word, TRY. It wasn’t often Crow left the house, now he’d be out for a whole week and he was an overplanner. The teal haired male deposited Candy’s bag in a room that looked over the ocean before he went to the room across from her to get changed.

Now, Crow had ordered a few suits because he couldn’t make up his mind. It took a few minutes but he finally settled on teal trunks with lime green stripes running across them. His hair was tied in a tight bun on the top of his head and he slid on his obnoxiously lime green sunglasses with mirrored lenses before he grabbed the bag full of sunscreens and ran down the stairs. “Caaaandy—“ As he walked into the kitchen he froze. What was he going to say? All train of thought was completely lost when his eyes laid upon the most gorgeous thing in all creations. Seriously! Why was someone so perfect?! He’d chop someone in the throat a million times for even looking at her the wrong way.

“I-I-I-I did you see the beach?” You fucking idiot, that’s why she was in her swimsuit. His voice was almost an octave up as he stammered, so he quickly cleared his throat and deepened his voice back up. Maybe a little too deep to sound suave? “You uh, look AMAZING. seriously did it hurt when you fell from heaven? Cuz hot damn.” Crow didn’t have the typical shut-in body, but he also didn’t have the six pack Asa had. His body wasn’t very muscular but he wasn’t scrawny, he was toned! So it wasn’t like he had to be ashamed of himself standing next to such a gorgeous woman. “You’re on vacation, let me do the heavy lifting, yeah?” Did he have a nose bleed? He hoped not. With a quick peck on the cheek he grabbed the cooler from her and held the door open for her. “After you milady.”

“Bears huh?”Akari laughed as followed Asa into the room, watching him with a smile on her face as she listened to him. When the world girlfriend slipped out of his mouth she felt her face grow even more warm, which she wasn’t even sure was possible until now. “Well I am quite glad to have such a brave boyfriend then to protect me. I mean, if I do ever need it.” She laughed and looked around the room slowly. It was all so beautiful in here and it was so surreal. Of course Akari grew up going on lavish trips and seeing amazing places but this was different, she was here with people she loved, the man she loved.

Akari turned around to say something more but was caught off guard by how close he was. “Asa?” She stammered as his hand touched her cheek. Why was he making her so nervous? Honestly she didn’t know if she would ever get used to this feeling. Then he closed the distance between the two of them and Akari felt like she could have melted on the spot. It was a moment before the parted and Asa stayed close, resting his forehead against hers. How did she get so lucky? It was all she could think as she looked up at him. Never had she felt this way about a boyfriend, never had she found someone who understood her so well and complimented her. It was wild to her that she found a soulmate in this handsome grouch of a human.

“Right, see you downstairs.” Akari finally took a breath when Asa left the room and she quickly shut the door behind him, her back falling against it as she tried to calm the heart that felt like it was about to jump out of her chest. After a few moments she felt like she could function normally again and she found her bathing suit in her luggage to get dressed quickly. She grabbed her large round black sunglasses and her sandals before making her way back downstairs.

“Jesus Crow, the if the sun doesn’t blind us your outfit will.” Akari fake winced away from all of his neon before heading outside and down to the beach. Asa was already out there as she approached him, sliding her sunglasses on as she looked out over the water. “Oh wow, it really is beautiful huh?”

Candy

“Yeah?” Candy turned to see Crow as he drew out her name, her lips turning up into a bright smile as he turned as red as a tomato. “Crow are you okay? You look warm.” She raised an eyebrow as he stammered a bit, asking if she had seen the beach and it caused her to look down at her bathing suit with a chuckle. “Why yes, I have indeed seen the beach Crow.”

He continued on , complimenting her and telling her she looked amazing. Of course he did it in his own special Crow like manner but honestly that just made it all the better. His compliments only made her face flush and made her eyes scan over him; that made her blush more. Obviously she was attracted to him, she had liked him for years… but seeing him shirtless was a new development. “T-thank you!” She nearly shouted as she brushed some of her hair behind her ear. “Oh yeah! Please do. Thank you.”

Crow took the cooler and some of the others grabbed some supplies and soon they were heading down to the beach. “Oh my god!” She squealed as her toes touched the sand, running down to the shore line until her feet were touching the water. “It’s warm!” She was like a kid honestly, it was what ? Two minutes before she was in the water. “You guys this is amazing!”

Daisuke Tanaka

Was Zuki upset about something? Did he do something wrong? Daisuke had caught the tinge of something strange in her voice but he wasn’t sure what he had done, or what had happened. When she came back downstairs she seemed to be in better spirits but still… maybe he was reading too much into it? “Why thank you ma’am.” Daisuke chuckled and turned to Zuki when she spoke up but when he did he nearly dropped all the towels he was holding. That bathing suit sure was something. He felt like a creep staring like he did but he couldn’t help it, it was like he was fucking entranced. It fit her so well in both ways, it screamed her but it also looked amazing as well. “You look great Zuki.” He spoke quietly, normally he was all sorts of confidence but for once he was kind of shaken.

“Right! Towels. Thank you.” She took half the stack and Daisuke took the time to pick his jaw up off the floor before following her out into the beach. Emi had grabbed beach towels so Daisuke took the time to play mom as Crow called it and set up their area. Some spots to lay out, the towels folded to the side, the cooler placed nearby.

Candy was already running into the water and Daisuke chuckled as she exclaimed to them all. “I really don’t see how this vacation can’t be amazing.” Daisuke wrapped an arm around Zuki’s shoulders and pulled her close against him before kissing the top of her head. He pulled away and smiled down at her widely, “So what do you want to do first? Sunbathe? Swim? Shotgun a beer and then challenge another couple to chicken?”

Kage;Shadow

Kage simply nodded in response to Emi’s thank you as he took her bags. She was acting happier but part of him felt like it was surface level. They reached the room that she wanted and Kage stayed silent as she took her bags, he just didn’t know what to say. Daisuke had told him just to ask her what was wrong and to explain himself but that was easier said than done! Emi started to apologize and Kage looked down at her with a slightly started look on his face. “You don’t have to apologize. You’ve done nothing wrong.” He gave her his best reassuring smile and rubbed his arm awkwardly as she looked up at him, “I-okay. Yeah I’ll get changed.” She was gone into her room before he could say anything more.

Before he could get to his however, Zuki was approaching him and he turned to her with a stone look on his face. What was she getting at? “It’s not about her judging me, hell it’s not even about emotions. It’s about the fact that I was foolish enough to let friends into my life let alone anything more than that.” He spoke so quickly that he even surprised himself. “Ever since she’s been around me she has had her life turned upside down, been attacked, been conned, been attacked again. It’s not fair to her for me to be selfish okay?” What Zuki said last stung him a bit though, the bit about being afraid of getting hurt. The bit about losing the chance to do something… it hit home.

Kage had lost everything because of his lifestyle, he had been in Emi’s shoes. His mother died because of what they did for a living and she was all he had. He knew the pain of that kind of loss and he never wanted to put another person through it.

Kage went and got dressed, pulling back his hair to help with the heat and yanking on his dark grey swim trunks haphazardly before heading downstairs. By the time he was done it seemed everyone was already outside so he slid on his sandals and followed. As he neared the beach he found that they already set up a small area for them to lounge and he found himself heading straight for the cooler, pulling out a wine cooler before looking around to everyone to see if anyone wanted anything.

That was when he saw Emi. It was so cheesy? Like she was backed by the sun in some movie as he squinted to look over at her. She looked gorgeous, the bathing suit was cute, she looked it she was glowing… the only thing was that she was in a hoodie despite being at the beach. He assumed it was because of the bruise she must have had from the incident the other night and it made him angry. She shouldn’t have to hide while on this vacation because that asshole got handsy.

Kage grabbed an extra wine cooler and stood up, making his way over to her and opening it for her before holding it out for her to take. “Listen, I know that you probably don’t want to hear from me. I- I’m gathering that somehow I upset you and I apologize for that even if I don’t fully understand. I never want to upset you… even though I’m probably about to right now.” He paused to let out a long sigh, “Give me the damn hoodie Emi. No one here is going to judge you or think twice about that bruise and if they say shit I’ll kick their ass okay? You told them about your dinner, if you don’t want them to know anymore they don’t have to. Whatever story you want to give about your bruise I will back you up. No matter how ridiculous it is! Hell tell them a unicorn bit you, I’ll back it up and say I was there to pull it off of you! But no matter what don’t let it ruin your trip, you can’t have fun on the beach under a jacket. Aren’t you burning up under there?” Kage had kind of spiraled a bit… he knew that but that’s what happens when you’re bad at expressing your feelings.

What was with that look he was giving her? He had been staring at her for so long she couldn’t help but feel her face heat, and she had nearly looked away until he spoke up. Why was he able to make her so happy? She murdered and poisoned people, granted they weren’t good people and she saved people along the way but she was a bad person! At least, that’s how she looked at herself. Zuki didn’t deserve the love he was giving. Was Shadow right? Was getting someone involved in their life selfish? And the way he said her name? Swooning. Soon they made their way down to the beach together and she couldn’t help but smile as she watched him set up. Kinda like a mom would do for his kids. It made her place her towels where he had put his in attempts to help set up.

Candy was booking it for the water and she couldn’t help but laugh quietly. Kid one was already in the water. She thought for many years the ocean would be cold though, so hearing it was warm was pleasant to hear. Before she could go down to see for herself however, Daisuke was wrapping his arm around her, kissing her head and making her blush a bright shade of red again. The pair hadn’t actually kissed since the bar that night, had they? Before Zuki could chime in though Daisuke was asking an awfully weird question. It made her furrow her brows inquisitively and look up at him. “Daisuke dear I didn’t see any shotguns inside. If you would have asked I would have brought one…and I especially didn’t see any chickens. I’m not your girl for that.”

Zuki turned to the cooler and pulled out two of the cans of beer, handing him one. “I didn’t even know you knew how to handle a gun. I learn a new thing about you everyday, I like that.” Her dark eyes looked down at the beer and raised a brow curiously. “Would there even be beer left inside after a shotgun blast? What an odd thing to do. Hold my beer, I’ll be back.” Without missing a beat she was forcing her beer onto Daisuke and running up the path. Within a minute she was running back down with her black beach bag and pulling out her silenced pistol. “Give it here, this is the best I’ve got.” Her face stayed as stoic as ever as she walked several feet away from everyone, placing the beer in the sand, and stepped away from it. With a steady aim she fired a bullet into the beer, watching as it burst and poured liquid out both sides. “Did that suffice? Now did someone find a chicken?”

Emi was smiling sweetly as everyone joined them and even brighter as Daisuke helped set everything up. “Oh, thank you!” The sun was high in the sky and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. It was hot and she wanted to go float in the water, Candy looked like she was having so much fun! Instead though she just kinda stood back and smiled at everything. Crow looked ridiculous, Akari and Candy looked over the moon happy, hell everyone looked like they were having a great time! That was why they planned this trip, they all deserved to be happy and have a good time despite all the shit they had been going through.

Suddenly Kage was next to her and she felt her heart skip a beat. Her eyes looked him over to admire how nice he looked, her eyes stopping as she locked eyes with him. Why was he so handsome? She didn’t want to stop looking at him, and it took a minute to feel that her face was red hot. It was the sun, she’d blame the sun! And he was offering her a wine cooler? While he spoke she slowly took the drink from him and held it in her hands, her bright eyes not leaving his as he rambled. He just kept talking and she listened to every word with a bashful smile on her face. While she felt a horrible hole in her chest since the cafe it felt like it had never existed in that moment. Her heart was pounding and all he did was promise to back her up! Why did he do this to her? It made her never want to leave…

“You promise you won’t tell?” Tears stung her eyes and she was quick to wipe them away. Her voice was quiet and she was trying not to cry. “You don’t have to apologize, I told you I was just being weird. And I always want to talk to you, Kage.” Her face lit up a bright red and she quickly shook her head. “Shit, sorry Shadow. Lee said that was your name a-and I tried not to say anything. I don’t know if that’s really your name-you never said anything but I’ve been trying to forget it since he told me. I-it just kind of slipped, I still think of it when I look at you. Anyways! You’re cute when you’re nervous. You sound like me when I ramble on.” With a small shrug she slid out of the yellow jacket and handed it to him like he asked, nervously adjusting the frilly sleeves of her suit. It was then that she clinked her glass with his. “Cheers to the next week, I’ll try not to be a pain in the ass. Oh! I’ll make us s’mores. Extra marshmallows!” See? She rambled every time she was nervous. “Did Zuki just shoot that poor beer?”

Things were going great…so great in fact that he thought it was a bad sign. Like the calm before the storm. Sure, the sky was clear right now and you could see for miles, but something was lurking beneath the depths of the waters. Call it the realistic, borderline pessimistic at times views he had on life. He had prayed to someone he didn’t believe in that he was wrong…he didn’t want to lose anyone here. He especially didn’t want to lose what him and Akari had finally found. Speaking of. His heart began to pound in his chest at the sight of the woman on his mind. “The sight doesn’t compare to your beauty though.” With a small smile he cracked open a cold beer and handed it to Akari.

“I have to agree though with the lady Crow, your outfit is much louder than your usual one. I truly wish that you were colorblind and picked this out by accident.” As he cracked open his own beer he wrapped an arm around Akari, taking a long drink of the cold liquid. Suddenly Zuki was moving at the mention of shotgunning something and it made him furrow his brows. “Daisuke, what in the world is your girl doing?” Before he could even finish his sentence she was already back with her bag, and to his surprise she was pulling out a pistol. The poor beer soon had a bullet shot through it, the can bursting and pouring all over the sand. All he could do was sigh and shake his head.

“Christ almighty Zuki, I didn’t realize the assassin life was so bad you didn’t know how to party. No, there’s no physical chicken and there’s no animal sacrifice—no beer sacrifice either. Akari do you want to be my partner for chicken? I know we’re still recovering but let’s be real, they won’t be a match for us.” The past two months he had spent in the hospital recovering meant that he had lost some of the definition to his body, but he still had a few abs and was possibly the most fit male in the group. There would be no way he would drop her or let her fall.

Crow

“You lot clearly have not done your research. The ocean contains a beast, a rather vicious and terrifying one, called SHARKS. The kraken too, but that one is up for debate. Bright colors scare away the creatures, so while all of you get eaten up at least Candy and I will safe. Unfortunately really, we’ll mourn you.” Crow slid up the sunglasses as he looked out at Candy as she ran to the water. A big grin spread across his face and he took off towards the water. “Whoa! You’re right. Way warmer than the pool! And-hang on. Are those fish?” Light brown eyes narrowed down by his feet as he saw little fish swimming around. “Yeah, the pool doesn’t have this.”

Without missing a beat he scooped Candy up in his arms and walked further into the water, though he stopped at the mention of chicken. “Candy. This is our opportunity to take these guys down. We have to assert our dominance. If we don’t they might start thinking they’re in charge. At this point our honor is at stake as the head of household. Don’t worry, you’re light as a feather and I won’t let you fall.” He placed her back on her feet before giving a stern nod and turning around to yell at the others. “Game on! If you guys win then I’ll let you think you’re the boss for the day! Zuki has to put the gun away though, I’m not getting shot when you lose!”

Sherlock

Maybe it was naive to allow themselves to live this carefree for the upcoming week but for once in her life, Akari refused to let her caution and worry ruin something for her. “You’re being way too nice, it’s scary.” Akari laughed as Asa complimented her, “I mean I think this is the longest you’ve gone without a tantrum since I met you.” She smiled as she teased him and took the beer from him. Asa turned to speak to the others, throwing his arm around Akari’s shoulder and she wrapped one arm around his waist in response. It was so natural yet strange at the same time. Akari was usually far to embarrassed for any form of PTA but this felt nice, plus she was around a group of misfits that she loves.

Akari sipped her drink as she watched Zuki go running towards the house and back in the blink of an eye. At first she thought the woman had forgotten something but then she pulled out a gun and shot at a beer in the sand, causing Akari to let out a choking sound as she struggled to swallow her beer. “Jesus Zuki!” Asa continued while Akari regained her composure and wiped away a bit of the beer that had spilled down her chest. The group was bringing up playing chicken, well Asa and Daisuke we’re talking like humans and Crow was squaking like his namesake. “Oh yes! I am SO down.”

See there was a thing about Akari that had yet to show itself, she was competitive to a fault. And buzzed Akari was even more so. She saw no way they could lose? Besides Zuki and Shadow the two of them were the most athletic in the group. Clearly Zuki didn’t even know what they were about to be doing and she very strongly doubted Emi would join in… physical competition had never really been her friends thing.

“Come on Zuki take the gun back into the house and let’s show you how this game goes.” Akari downed the rest of her beer before placing the empty can next to the cooler and looking over to Emi, “Do you guys want to join or want to be our refs in case any one wants to play dirty?” Akari waggled her eyebrows at her friend, Emi should have known damn well that Akari would very likely be the one playing dirty but oh well. Once Zuki came back everyone got into the water and Akari quickly ran through the game with her.

“Oh and the rules are that there are no rules. Well okay maybe one, no guns. But in a usual game we don’t need to say that.”
