Candy

Crow’s face went bright red when she touched his hand and it made her chuckle, it was good seeing him flustered for once rather than shamelessly flirting. However it only lasted a moment, the power went out and back on quickly, then off once again. It was eerily quiet when that happened, all the subtle hums of everything were gone. Crow seemed agitated near instantly, he stood quickly before Candy could even say anything. Soon the woman she could only assume was Daisukes fiancé was running outside and telling them there was a gunman in the house asking for Crow.

“Are you insane!” Candy stood as quickly as she could with her bum ankle and went to keep him from going into the house but Asa stopped her. “Isn’t this what you guys have Shadow for?! Like the exact situation.” She pushed against Asa but he was holding her back too tightly. “Asa let me go!” It was hard to see what was happening in the house, it was dark outside and the lights were all out. She could barely make out the outlines of bodies and could see someone standing with a gun against Emi’s head.

“Oh Asa please forgive me for this.” All she could remember was everyone recovering from their wounds at her bar just a few days ago. She didn’t want that again. She knew it was stupid and she probably couldn’t do anything but… she could try. Maybe if she could get through the house and out the side entrance she could get the power running again. Walking around would take too long so she needed to get through the kitchen without being seen. So what did she do? “Again, sorry.” Candy lifted her leg and shoved her legs right were it would hurt Asa most causing him to let her go. Once free Candy made her way as quickly as she could towards the house, crouching down with a small wince as she got closer to the door. The plan was to stay low and sneak past the furniture… that is until she caught sight of the man holding a gun to Emi’s head.

“Have you lost your fucking mind? What are you doing here Lee?” Candy came out from her hiding spot and stood with her arms across her chest. “Let her go you fucking lunatic.” Lee had been a regular at the bar back when Candy was in college, he was a few years older but not much. They started dating at one point but he was too much for her to handle, he started really sweet and attentive but turned to controlling and scary. After she broke up with him she had multiple instances where he would break into her apartment to talk but.. this took the cake.

“What do you even want?”

“What in the hell is going on?” The power went out then out again, Esme was running out and in hysterics. “Wait Emi? I thought this place had great security Crow!” She yelled after him as he went inside. Akari didn’t have a lot of training in hostage situations but what she did know was that adding more people to the situation would only make the shooter jumpy. So as much as she wanted to run in as well to try and help she decided to stay put outside. Candy clearly had other plans and Asa was struggling to keep her at bay, finally she kneed the man and was off inside and Akari knew there was no stopping her.

“Are you okay? I’m sure that hurt but you got to pull it together okay” Akari reached over and patted Asa on the shoulder. “Do you have your cell phone, mine is inside, we should try and call the police and have an ambulance ready in case anything goes south.” She turned and eyed over the babbling pink mess and let out a long sigh, “Esme please shut up and go hide in the pool house. The last thing we need is the shooter to get jumpy because you’re out here screaming. Now go.” She spoke with authority, she wasn’t taking a no as an answer.

“Any idea who could be in there? Do you really think they’ll be able to handle this?”

Daisuke

How in the hell did someone get in without setting anything off? Daisuke couldn’t believe what he was seeing as he and Zuki stood across from the man with the gun to Emi’s head. He felt so bad for the poor girl, ever since her vision she had been thrust into this life and constantly threatened just in the last little bit. “Listen man what do you want, money? How much, I’ll get you the cash right now.” The guy asked for Crow and Daisukes stomach dropped. That wasn’t good, the fact that this guy even knew Crow exisits was a bad sign for them.

Zuki put away her gun after sending Esme outside and offered to switch places with Emi. “The hell you will, either way it’s a bad situation!” Daisuke barked at Zuki, he was tense and he knew it and as much as he hated seeing Emi in danger he knew the situation wouldn’t be made any better with swapping out hostages. That and he didn’t know if he could handle seeing Zuki there instead, just seeing her split lip earlier was enough to send him into a tizzy.

Crow made his way inside and was talking to the man in a way that honestly impressed Daisuke, it wasn’t often that the man was serious let alone this well spoken. He made note that it was indeed possible for Crow to not be a total idiot but the interaction was cut short by Candy’s entrance. “Wait do you know this fucking guy then?” He looked between everyone and nearly fainted from how much his head was spinning.

“Listen just tell us what you’re here for and let the girls go. There’s no reason to hold any of them up in this shit, we’re not fighting against you. Just tell us what you want.”

Kage;Shadow

Kage was in the shower when the power had gone out, at first he wondered if the weather had gotten bad outside but when the generator power failed as well? He knew something was up. He turned off the water and quickly dried off before pulling on some clothes. After grabbing one of his handguns from the laundry basket that Daisuke so politely returned to his room he made his way down the hall. As Kage neared the stairs he could hear voices, one of which he slightly recognized telling them to get Crow. No one sounded super distressed downstairs but Kage could tell something was wrong.

The stairs were wood and creaked very slightly as Kage made his way down them, crouching low and hugging the wall as well as he could until he was on the last step. The stairs entered the hall that the kitchen was off from so he slid down until he was hidden behind the doorway. Fro where he was Daisuke and the others were cut off from view because of the kitchen island but he could get a clear shot of Emi and the man behind her.

The man who made Kage’s heart break into a million pieces right then and there. Kai? He almost couldn’t believe what he was seeing. That man was definitely his brother, he could tell instantly. Only to Kage’s knowledge, his brother had been dead for a very long time. It was hard for him to focus, to decide what to do, he couldn’t understand how they had gotten here or why these things were happening. Why was Kai in his home and asking for Crow? What type of shit had his little brother gotten into…

Kage tried his best to push aside all the questions and focus on what was important. Getting everyone out of there unharmed. He needed to get Emi’s attention somehow… ah! There! By his foot was one of Gus’ cat toys, a small little plush mouse that wouldn’t make much noise if thrown. So he took it and gently tossed it from his hiding spot to make it land on Emi’s foot and simply hoped she noticed him hiding in the shadows.

Kai / Jack of Clubs

“Oh my my my. You are all so quickly accommodating, this is amazing!” Kai laughed that unhinged laugh of his before taking the gun and knocking it against the side of the girls head a little harder. “But I do quite enjoy this hostage here, she’s listening quite well and Zuki you said it yourself, she’s a defenseless idiot, why would I switch her out with a trained killer. She tries to run I like my chances, you try to run and you might just get away. Plus killing you would be a shame, killing her eh.” He chuckled again and shrugged his shoulders.

Soon enough the real item of his mission came inside and was straight to business. “Wow this was all so much easier than I thought. You’ve been so elusive for years now that we didn’t think we would ever find you yet here you are.” He smiled at the man he now knew was Crow. “My goal? My goal is to take you back to the Suits with me. Or if you don’t want to go… that’s fine. I’ll simply kill you and steal back the tech your father was creating for us. Your pick.”

Then Candy came running into the room and was yelling at him. “Oh my god Candy for once this isn’t about you!” He rolled his eyes and pulled out another gun from his holster, now training one on Emi still and the other moving between the others still in the room with his other hand. “I’m starting to now be thrilled with the amount of family reunions going on in here today so Crow I’m going to need you to make your decision quick please, or someone dies in the next thirty seconds.”

What was happening? Emi had only barely returned to the others before things went dark and someone was covering her mouth and holding something cold against her temple. Was...was that a gun? Zuki was holstering her gun and offering to swap places with her and she knew the situation was rough. Her heart was beating loudly in her ears as everything unfolded around her. Be good, Emi. The last time you got feisty you got shot. That time it was in the arm, this time would be for good. She tried to focus and not panic, flinching as he knocked the gun against her. She was being good!

A whole new Crow entered and Emi felt even more scared when Candy entered the room. If she lived through this she didn't want to see anyone hurt! Suddenly a small mouse filled with catnip landed on her foot and she took a second to scan the dark to where it came from, her eyes finally landing on Shadow, well, in the shadows. Seeing him made her calm down a bit so she could reassess the situation. She had to do something instead of standing there like a defenseless idiot. Hopefully it worked!

"Crow's computer is right there, can't you just take it and leave?" Emi pointed in the direction of Crow's office to draw his attention away for a moment. She didn't miss a beat, as soon as he turned his head she punched both of his arms so the guns were pointed up to the ceiling, her heel driving down right onto his foot with all her might. Quickly she took off towards the shadows where the mouse came from and she dove behind the wall, her heart beating wildly. "Holy shit I just punched a guy with a gun."

Crow

The man speaking knew everything about Crow's past it seemed. His father working for the Suits, Crow's participation in his fathers program. It seemed that they had finally found him, something he had hid from for all of these years. The moment Candy came out all the color drained from the pale mans face. "Cho I told you to stay outside!" The man Lee pulled out another gun and it made Crow laugh a not so friendly laugh. "Take me back? Take the program my dad and I worked on? Wasn't it enough you bastards took him from me? Yeah I've made my choice, Lee. It's a no, I think not. You won't kill anyone here and you'll be leaving empty handed. If you leave, that is." Shadow had to be nearby and trying to look for a shot.

He noticed the mouse land on Emi, he admired Emi's distraction and he could hug her for her bravery. However, when no shot rang to take out Lee sounded once Emi was free Crow panicked. If he got control of his guns again they'd all be dead. Crow did all he could think of to do and that was to tackle Lee and wrestle him from the guns.

"You don't come here threatening to shoot my teammates and friends! You tell your friends in the Suits that I'll find them and expose them all!" Then it happened. A shot fired, but it wasn't the bullet Crow wanted to fire. It was Lee's gun firing into Crow. This bullet pierced between his shoulder and chest and for a moment he thought it had got his heart, but then he realized he wasn't dead. Crow rolled off of Lee with a loud wince and touched the bullet hole to see that it was an inch away from his heart. "Shadow, Zuki, someone get this guy." He let out a defeated groan and leaned his head against the cold hardwood floor.

Luna

Why was Daisuke butting into her negotiation? Just as she was about to yell at him Lee spoke her name and she let out a heavy sigh. She was just going to hope that Daisuke didn't notice, and even if he did notice now was not the time to open up this can of worms. Soon Crow was entering and Lee was revealing why he was here. How had she been so wrong about the Suits? They took her in, gave her a family that Zuki never had, gave her training to help keep herself alive. Lee was a perfect example, he had been training with her for forever! Were they always the bad guys?

Zuki was processing everything and looking for an opening. Candy appearance had only made Lee more volatile and their options were running out. She could hop in and protect everyone but Emi would get shot, if she saved Emi someone else would get shot. Where the fuck was Shadow? It was then that the game changed and Emi was being a badass and basically karate chopped Lee. It was comical, almost something you'd see in a TV show.

Just as Emi got away and Zuki was about to intervene Crow was tackling Lee and wrestling for the guns. Lee started to shoot; one shot landed in Crow and he fired the other, though this one was aimed way off. "Watch out!" Her body moved in an instant and tackled Daisuke to the ground, the bullet piercing the wall where his head had been just seconds before. "A-Are you okay?" Fear was something she had never felt before, she didn't like it. Gently her cold hand touched his face to make sure he wasn't injured.

Doc

Asa never asked for the responsibility of taking care of the girls; all he wanted to do was lounge by the pool and drink for the night. Unfortunately someone had to ruin that quiet night, sighing heavily as Esme came out going on about the gunman. Was it in their usual routine to have someone break into Crow's fortress? No, but you had to roll with the punches. "You heard the boss, Candy." Doc sat down his drink and stood up, holding the girl back as she tried to make a break for it. "You're hobbling on one leg, what do you think you're going to do with an armed---" Doc's words were lost as he fell to his knees and doubled over in pain. He hadn't been hit there since he was a child and, yup, it was JUST as painful as he remembered. If not worse. "Fucking...I'm going to get her back I swear.."

After a moment or two of being on the ground he heard Akari's voice. He responded with a deep breath then proceeded standing up as he tried to regain his composure. Thankfully Akari was sending the girl to the pool house. One less liability they had to worry about. "I like that authoritative tone of yours. Sounds nice coming from a pretty girl." And just like that Asa was back on his bullshit. He pulled out his phone and noticed that he didn't have any bars. No, he noticed that he couldn't get any bars. "We have a smart gunman, there's a jammer. A phone isn't going to do shit." He gave a heavy sigh and shook his head.

"It's fine, I'm sure Shadow's got this covered. He'll put a bullet in the fuckers head and-" Once again he was cut off, though this time it was the sound of a gun multiple times. "I didn't think I'd have to use one of these again." The Fixers were in danger, and normally Shadow took care of the danger. If he couldn't handle it though Asa was more than qualified to shoot someone. He wasn't in a mob or anything but he did get mixed up with a gang when his brother died. "Akari stay here, we don't need anyone else getting shot."

Slowly Asa pulled out a gun that was strapped underneath his suit. With the pistol cocked he walked to the door and peeked inside to assess the situation. Daisuke and Zuki were on the floor but blood wasn't apparent. Crow on the other hand seemed to be bleeding significantly and needed to be tended to soon. "Well I've had enough of you ruining my quiet night." Lee and Crow were all the way across the room from Asa but he made a solid attempt at aiming at the guy. He fired one bullet, two bullet, and on the third one he was sure one of the bullets met their target. He wasn't going for a killing blow however, he just wanted to keep the guy down so they could restrain him and interrogate him. His pistol wasn't great for shooting from a distance in the dark though.

Candy

Things got bad fast, before she could fully comprehend what was happening bullets were flying and Emi was darting away from Lee and towards the hallway. Soon Candy realized that this wasn’t her ex boyfriends normal crazy, this was something completely different. He was talking about how he wanted Crow or Crows tech and Candy was absolutely floored. Was Lee one of the criminals that had used her parents bar as a front? Before this she never had a reason to believe so but too many things were just clicking into place. The sound of another bullet pulled her from her head and back into reality. She looked in time to see the flash of Crow getting shot as he moved to tackle Lee, Candy let out a small scream and dropped the the floor as bullets went flying in the chaos of things. Soon Asa was coming in and firing towards Lee which gave Candy the opportunity to crawl along the floor and make her way to Crow.

“Come on.” Candy adjusted so that her arms were under his shoulders and her feet were able to push against the floor to move the both of them backwards and behind cover of the counter. “My lord what is wrong with you? Why do you keep putting yourself on the wrong side of a gun?” She scolded him as she quickly slid off her hoodie, balling it up and using it to place pressure against the wound. It was hard to see in the dark but thankfully her eyes had slowly adjusted. “I’m sorry, does it hurt?” As her adrenaline started to fade her anxiety shot up. She could hear Asa and Lee exchanging words just in the other side of the counter and she could feel tears starting to sting in her eyes.

“Asa!” She yelled, “Asa Crow got shot what should I do? I’m sorry I ever called you a fake doctor and I’m sorry I kneed you but I- I need help!”

Kage;Shadow

“Good girl.” Kage couldn’t help but mutter under his breath and Emi punched at Kai, soon she was moving towards him like a bat out of hell and as she dove around the corner he held out his hands to catch her fall. “Damn straight you did, now get upstairs and hide in my room. Don’t answer unless you can confirm it’s one of us okay?” He patted her head and tried his best to give her a small smile despite the situation, “You did good kid.”

In the other room Kage could hear the chaos ensuing, shots were ringing out and soon Asa joined the party, yelling something then shooting towards Kai. Crow yelled for him or Zuki to do something and Kage finally moved, it was like he needed someone to call him out for not jumping into action before this. Between Emi putting Kai off balance, Crow tackling the man and Asa shooting him, taking down the man should have been easy. But for some reason as Kage jumped into the room and knocked over his brother… he stalled.

Kage used his knees to hold Kai down and reached over to his holster to pull out the gun and aim it down at the man’s forehead. “What a fucking family reunion this is.”

-

Kai / Jack of Clubs

“You little bitch!” Kai growled at Emi as she punched him but after that he was never able to recover. He had let his guard down because she was small but dammit she caused him to be thrown off his game. Then soon after he was being tackled by Crow and shot at by another man who joined. All the while he simply pulled the trigger on his guns and hit whatever targets he could. That is until suddenly there was a weight on his chest and the cold metal of a gun pressed to his forehead.

“Well well well, this is certainly unexpected.” Kai couldn’t help but let out a laugh, one that sounded like it belonged in an insane asylum. “Long time no see brother! How’s life treating you?” All he gained in response was a glare and Kai let out another chuckle. “What a fucking crew you guys have living in this house. There’s at least 6 targets for the gang under one roof… what a score!”

“Oh come on bro, we both know you don’t have the balls to shoot me. You didn’t then and you don’t now.” Kai moved quickly, using his core strength to whip Kage over to the side and scramble to his feet before anyone could take him down again. He was in no shape to continue this fight and he knew it so for now he would simply escape with what info he now had.

“I have a feeling we will all be seeing each other again soon. Bye now.” Then he was gone as quick as he came, out the back yard and out into the darkness where he knew a get away car would be waiting for him.

-

Kage couldn’t comprehend what had just happened and he was left laying on his back on the cold kitchen floor. “Is everyone okay?”

Daisuke Tanaka

“I’m okay, are you?” Daisuke took a hand and smoothed out some of Zuki’s wild hair, “I’m okay. Really. I’ve been shot at before by others with MUCH better aim than this jackass.” It was rare to see Zuki so rattled, and as much as Daisuke wanted to hope it wasn’t, he had to assume it had to do with the man who had broken in. Lee as they had been calling him had known Zukis name, they must know each other somehow. It wasn’t entirely surprising considering the groups Zuki hung out with but something seemed to making her wildly on edge and he knew she had been through worse than this.

Asa had joined and Candy was yelling that Crow had been shot. From where he laid on the ground Daisuke could see that Shadow had gotten in on the action and Daisuke knew that meant things should be close to handled. “Come on, lets get out of range in case things get nasty.” Only as soon as Daisuke went to stand and pull Zuki with him, the shooter was throwing Shadow to the side and calling him brother before running off. Daisuke was too stunned to move.

“Did I hear that right?” Daisuke looked at Zuki with a raised brow, “Or am I losing my mind?”

Sherlock

“How are you all not DEAD yet?” Akari groaned as the shooter went running past her and out into the backyard. She had stayed back during all the chaos, hiding around the back door in case things got bad. Which they certainly weren’t great but she figured Shadow had this! Everyone kept telling her that he was such an amazing hit man yet so far he was 0 and 2 on successful missions. “God dammit!” Akari burst into the room and snatched the pistol from Asa’a hand without asking. “You go help Crow, Daisuke and Zuki go figure out how to get our cell phones working and Shadow how about you find a new line of work.”

With that she was off, tearing through the backyard in bare feet after Lee who had quite the lead on her. “Stop! Put your hands above your head.” Of course he didn’t but she figured she had to try. As they reached the edge of the yard the man was thrown a rope from over the other side of the large wall that Crow called a fence. “Dammit.” Akari slid the gun into her waistband and put all of her energy into running but she wasn’t close enough and soon Lee was being pulled up and over the edge but not before she was able to grab onto his ankle. It was for naught because he quickly shook her off and she went falling to the grass below, cutting her leg open on the fence as she did. On the other side she heard some sort of car start up and quickly speed away into the night.

“Fuck!”

Luna

Last night was a fucking disaster. Crow had gotten shot again and flipped out on everyone, establishing a bullshit ‘buddy’ rule so that everyone had backup. Her best friend of nearly 10 years broke into the house, shot Crow, nearly killed Emi and Daisuke, and turned out to be Shadows brother. What’s worse? She couldn’t even go see Lee to interrogate him about what happened. “Daisuke. I’m fine. Seriously, don’t you have something to do? Someone to bail out? Represent?” Wasn’t that girl in town? She had to be blowing up his phone by now.

The thing that pissed her off more than anything was Daisuke actually following the damn buddy rule. He just wouldn’t let her leave by herself! They had coffee in the morning and as soon as she went to leave he fucking hopped in her car with her. She couldn’t do any of her business with him tagging along. So she took him downtown, parked, and tried to shake him. Zuki ended up sprinting away from him before he could even get out of the car. She darted through the crowd, ran through the park, even tied up her hair and stripped off her sweater in hopes he wouldn’t expect a wardrobe change. By the time she had stopped moving she was ironically outside of Candy’s bar in the complete opposite side of town.

There was no way he could have kept up with her. With a sigh of relief she pulled out her phone and started to type a message to send to Lee. “Dammit Daisuke, there went half the day.” Zuki glared at the time on her phone.

Despite Akari and Crow getting injured at least everyone made it out alive. That wasn’t good enough for Crow though. Someone broke into his home, attacked them, and that someone was Shadows brother. So Emi awkwardly sat in the car with Shadow on their stake out, trying to bite her lip and not say anything about what happened last night. But the guy was his brother! He didn’t seem like he wanted to talk about it at all but, dammit, she had questions. “What should I be looking for?” Crow gave them an address and a name and that was pretty much it. Shadow didn’t seem to thrilled about Emi tagging along but Crow wouldn’t take no for an answer.

“I didn’t think that Crow would insist on the stakeout today, but I packed lunch and some snacks.” Emi pat the cooler on the floor of the car before she looked back out the window at the building. Yup, it was still there. He wasn’t a chatty person, which normally was fine for her, but when she tried to avoid a topic it made her talk more. They already had been sitting there in silence for over two hours, she couldn’t handle it anymore! “I-uh, promise to use the earpiece if something happens, but Crow told me not to let you run off by yourself.”

Just as she let out a small sigh and leaned back into the passenger seat she noticed a sketchy looking figure walking inside the run down abandoned apartment complex. “Oh! Is that the guy? Should we go get him?” Emi packed her mace just in case, but she wasn’t exactly dressed for stealth. She had on black tights, yellow shorts, a black tee shirt and a bright yellow ribbon holding her hair in a ponytail.

Doc

Why did everyone insist on making him work after office hours? It couldn't be helped, he knew, but that just made him even more mad. Doc couldn't help but roll his eyes at Candy as she cried to Doc to fix up Crow. He'd have fixed Crow up anyway, but he was still irritated that she had kneed him. An apology wasn't getting her out of this. He had to extract shrapnel from the wound before he could stitch up Crow. Then he found himself scolding Akari as he fixed her up. They had Shadow for this exact reason, there was no reason for her to run off trying to be a hero cop. she was lucky that all she needed was stitches.

Crow ended up going off the edge. Until things calmed down he wanted everyone to have a buddy. He said Candy was injured so she'd be his buddy, she had a messed up leg and he had a messed up arm. Akari still had to work and so did Doc so they were assigned to be buddies, perfect for going to see her dad the next day. Shadow drew the short straw and got Emi again, and Daisuke wanted to be Zuki's buddy for some odd reason. Crow proceeded to stay up all night obsessing over the electrical and security issue.

The next morning Doc got up per usual. He ate some breakfast with everyone before getting into his car with Akari to head to 'work', Akari insisting they couldn't tell Emi where they were actually going. With that, he proceeded to follow the directions Akari gave him. "You sure you're ready for this? I'm sure Emi could give you some incredibly cheesy and oddly emotional pep talk. But, I can tell you that you can do it. Just hold your head high. I'll be here if shit goes bad." What could go wrong though? This place seemed pretty secure.

Crow

Crow went from angry, to neurotic, to eerily quiet after Lee made his get away. His brain was overloaded and working overtime as he tried to juggle all the thoughts and emotions he was flooded with. Everyone was to have a buddy until security got better and until they could figure something out with the gang. He was hurt and angry that Candy didn't listen to him, that she got involved and even knew the guy that had the audacity to break into his home. He couldn't even look at her for the rest of the night. He didn't say a word as Asa patched him up, Asa said it was close and he could have died. He didn't find it surprising that someone related to Shadow was able to fool his security, though it meant that he had to beef it up.

The first thing on his to do list was fixing the power. He wouldn't be able to find Lee because his cameras weren't working but maybe if he could access the city cams he could find the car that was fleeing his home. He needed power. They weren't safe until then.

"Motherfucker!" Crow winced as he was shocked from the wires. It took all night but he was able to fully replace the wires to the electricity. He skipped breakfast, he wouldn't eat or sleep until this was done. Now he was working on the generator, which was far worse. The bastard took an axe to the thing! He had to remove the axe, and by him he means Shadow before he left for the stakeout. Once the door was opened he found he had to completely rewire everything. It may have been easier to order one but he had personally built this one to support his electrical needs. And could he just say this was hard doing with one arm? Asa said if he moved his arm too much too soon he could cause permanent damage.

Crow took a seat with a heavy sigh. His hair was as frazzled as he was, he couldn't even talk to Candy about this because he was still angry that she put herself in harms way....plus, she dated the fucker. That part pissed him off too.

Candy

“That would have gone much better if you had just accepted my help. I’m the engineer, you’re the software guy.” Candy grumbled at Crow as he sat at the breakfast table, he hadn’t spoken to her all morning and had been treating her like she didn’t exist. She knew now that she shouldn’t have run in there like she did last night but she thought she could sneak over to the generator and get things working! How was she supposed to know everything that would happen after that.

Everyone else had left the house for the day after breakfast, Candy and Crow remained behind due to his new buddy system rule. Not that she had anywhere to go anyways but she surely wasn’t going to sit around here all day and get treated like this. “Here.” She slid the extra plate of food that sat next to her near empty plate over in front of Crow. “Eat something.” Candy took a few more bites of her food in silence before she couldn’t take it anymore.

“Why are you mad at me?” Candy blurted and let her fork clatter to the table as she glared across the table at him, “I know I did something stupid back there but you haven’t even given me a chance to explain myself! I’m so done with you guys thinking you’re the only ones who can handle shit! I’m not some fragile thing that’s going to break, if I wasn’t broken when my parents were killed I’m sure as shit not going to break when some psycho with a gun comes around. You four are NOT the only ones who have been through some shit okay?!” At this point she was rambling but she didn’t care. “I don’t want any of you guys to get hurt either yet you don’t see me giving you the silent treatment like a CHILD when you run into danger! You’re no better with a gun than I am you big , you big… you big dummy!” Candy knew how stupid the insult sounded but she meant it, she pushed away from the table with a huff and snatched up her dirty plate before heading into the kitchen to wash it while she fought back tears.

Sherlock

Asa stitched up Akari and Crow after their run in with the gunman the night prior, of course he only did so with some scolding and lecturing but it wasn’t anything Akari hadn’t heard before from Emi. After the nights events everyone tried their best to get a good night sleep but between her nerves being shot from the break in and from the impending doom of visiting her father, the poor woman barely got three hours.

When the morning came Akari got ready as per usual and had breakfast with the others before her and Asa headed out the door. Their morning commute together had become routine anyways but it was now mandated by Crows paranoia.

“Emi would make me turn the car around”, Akari chuckled nervously as the two of them pulled into a parking spot outside of the private prison. It was a fancy place as far as prisons go, her father wasn’t considered violent and was only arrested for so long due to the severity of his financial crimes. Still it was intimidating to be here. Akaris father had been arrested when she was still a child and she hadn’t been to visit him ever since she turned 17 and even then the visits weren’t more than her sitting by silently while her father spoke to her brothers. “He might now be here for anything too scary but, my father and I never got along even before he was arrested. Emi never liked him, said he was too mean to me. The day she had to stop coming with me to this place she literally took me for ice cream.” The thought made Akari laugh as she stepped out of the car and closed the door.

“I appreciate you driving me here, and I hate to ask anything more but… would you go in with me? I-I hate to admit it but I don’t think my legs will move me inside alone.” Akari swallowed hard as she looked towards the building, her legs felt like jello and she was insanely relieved when Asa turned off the car and stepped out to follow her in. “Thanks.”

The two made their way inside and after checking in with a few guards and getting checked out by security they were finally taken back and sat at the table. The guard let them know he would be back with her father and a few moments after he left the visitation room he returned with the large man in tow. He looked exactly as Akari remembered, tall and boxy with slick black hair and chiseled features. He always reminded her of a comic book villain. As the man sat across from them Akari couldn’t help but tense up, shrinking down in her seat and clenching her hands in her lap.

“A cop huh.” Was the first thing that came out of his mouth, a scoff more than anything. “And you think the shit I was in was corrupt? Welcome to the worst of the worst brat.” He surely hadn’t changed, he had always had the worst things to say about Akari and her interests. “So what made you come visit after so long? Wanted to introduce me to your pretty boy boyfriend or what?”

“W-what? N-no it’s not that. I-I…” Akari struggled to come up with the words to say and her father slammed his handcuffed hands against the table and growled for her to spit it out. “S-sorry sir! Uh, I wanted to ask you about a card I saw in the house a long time ago. It was a king of clubs but it didn’t look like a normal card. Rece-“ he cut her off with another growl.

“You didn’t see shit. You’re still as stupid and naive as ever. You come in here to talk about a fucking playing card? Christ Akari your brothers are right, you did turn into nothing. I always had my suspicions but to see it in front of me is just disappointing.”

Daisuke Tanaka

Zuki had been acting strange ever since the break in the night before. At first Daisuke thought every thing might just be a coincidence but while Zuki was normally private, this was a whole other situation. So when Crow went insane and forced everyone into his little buddy system, Daisuke quickly jumped to be Zukis… something was going on there and he needed to figure out what.

After everything calmed down, Akari let Daisuke know that his visitor had been sent to the pool house our back while everything went to shit. Of course she tried to stay the night but Daisuke convinced her to go back to her hotel after an hour long argument and telling her that no power meant no hair dryer and that about did it for her.

The following morning Zuki was intent on shaking him, hell she even tried to dart out of the house herself that morning! It made Daisuke have to jump in the car still in his house clothes. Thankfully he didn’t have to work that day so the jeans and hoodie didn’t matter to much but still! “Zuki! Hold on!” He shouted at her as she threw the car into park and went running into the crowds of downtown. “Dammit woman.” Daisuke groaned and grabbed his phone as he got out of the car and began weaving through the crowds, it was hard to keep on eye on her and a few times he lost her and had to scan the crowd again. Thankfully he kept a view from a distance most of the time and soon enough she finally came to a stop at a familiar place.

“You know our minds are amazing things, you were so worried about shaking me that your legs did all the work and your brain went into panic mode. So your autopilot set you on a familiar path.” Daisuke couldn’t help but smirk as he walked up behind her and reached his arm around her side to pluck her phone out of her hands. “So who are we so eager to get away from me to get ahold of hmm?” His tone went from joking to serious fast when he read the name on the screen. He knew something was up last night, he knew that Lee knowing Zukis name wasn’t just some weird coincidence.

“Zuki I really want to trust you here but this looks really bad. How do you know that guy?” Daisuke tossed her back her phone before reaching into his pocket to pull out his keys and scrolling through them until he found the card swipe for Candys bar. “And I assume you know I’ll be a lot more understanding than the guy who got shot by the man your texting right?”

Kage;Shadow

Kage had gone to bed far before anyone else after the events of the break in, he made sure everyone was alive and that was barely it. He went upstairs and told Emi it was safe and sent her to bed without a word before quickly finding himself face down in his pillows and numb. Kage hadn’t seen Kai since the day their mother passed away, the day that Kai caused her to get killed. Kai had always been troubled, he was amazing at what they did but he didn’t understand the weight behind death. Kai always just loved doing what they did for the sake of the win, the thrill of it. He was obsessed with power and money and despite all of their mothers teachings it basically ate Kai alive. Kai had gotten a large sum of money in return for giving away their location, it was how their mother was found and killed. That day Kage had the opportunity to kill Kai as well but, he just couldn’t take the shot.

Kage woke up the next morning, got ready and headed out with Emi to their stakeout. He honestly hoped that the mission would take his mind off of everything but if he was being honest with himself his mind was completely fucked now. “Anything that looks out of the ordinary.” Kage said simply when Emi spoke up in the seat next to him, pulling him from his thoughts. He wasn’t exactly thrilled that she was along for the ride but at least her being here meant he wouldn’t be able to drown in his own self pity too much. “That’s probably him but we should let him have his meeting first. We don’t know how many guys are in the building and if we grab him too soon he might not even have any of the info we want, so it’s better to wait til he comes out okay?”

Kage glanced over at Emi as she shifted around in her seat awkwardly. “I won’t run off by myself, don’t worry about it. I’ll try not to get you into any trouble with Master Crow.” He chuckled at the name and turned his attention back to the building. The man Emi had noticed was now walking down the stairwell, they could see him every few floors in the window and soon he would be on the ground.

“Emi when he comes outside do me a favor? Get out of the car and pretend that we’re lost, go tell the man that your boyfriend refuses to ask for directions but you’ve been going in circles and can’t handle it anymore. He shouldn’t think you’re a threat so he should just head over to the car to tell us where to go, when he does I’ll grab him. If he tries anything I’ll just step in a little early okay?”

Luna

When Zuki heard Daisuke’s voice her body froze. How the hell did he keep up with her so well? His logic made sense and that made her face go red with embarrassment. “Hey-Hey!” Her phone was quickly swiped out of her hands and she immediately panicked, even trying to grab her phone back from him before he could see. Unfortunately she could see the smug grin on his face fall and she let out a heavy sigh. He did have a point; she’d rather let him know than Crow. And maybe telling him would get him off her back a little? “He taught me how to survive, okay?” She caught the phone and shoved it into the pocket of her jeans. As soon as he unlocked the door she slipped inside and immediately went for a bottle of whiskey. After a long shot she gave a loud exhale and started to explain herself.

“I wasn’t always so good at what I do, the first few kills were pretty messy, so I was introduced to him and he helped me. Before you guys he was like my only friend, I even ended up a rank ahead of him. Each rank is kind of like a department, they all have their own workings. I’ve never been involved with the groups bidding though, I’ve only overseen the shops I was a slave in and make sure the girls are taken care of. The other Queens run the shops. I take out people that are deemed as a danger to my girls.” Daisuke was the one person she could trust with her secret. He was her lawyer for years and never seemed to ask what she actually had been up to, it was only a matter of time before he found out. With that said Zuki pulled out her card, the Queen of hearts, and sat it on the bar. “I swear I didn’t know what they were up to. The last week I’ve been trying to get information on them to blackmail them into letting me leave, but there’s pretty much no leaving outside of death.”

Zuki gave a small, sad smile to Daisuke. It felt like their friendship was crumbling around her and she was going to lose everyone. “You asked. That’s why I’m always arrested, anytime they find a rich abusive asshole they always assume I have something to do with it. If you want I can tell Crow and the others, but even if Shadow interrogates me or kills me I don’t know anything else. I promise. I just wanted to ask Lee who ordered him to come to the house.”

Esme

Was this really the place? A bar in the middle of the most sketchy district she had ever seen? This was where he had been running all over town to?! The nerve of the man, sending her back to her hotel after they all nearly died. And he didn’t text her back at all! Esme was fuming as she parked the car and stormed into the bar. It was no wonder she took to tracking his cell from the provider. I lost my fiancé and fear he’s in danger no one could have ever said no to her. “Daisuke you have some serious explaining to do! How dare you not even ask how I am this morning! After everything that happened last night?”

As her heels stomped into the bar she blinked a few times as she noticed the girl behind the bar. “Oh, tattoo girl from last night. You work at the bar? It doesn’t seem very busy. Daisuke you can explain here!” Esme hopped onto the barstool and looked over at all the alcohol. “I’ll take a sparkling water, please.”

Did he seriously think she was nervous about Crow getting mad? Why were guys so dumb? Well, at least he said he wouldn’t run off by himself. That was another one of her worries. “Okay, thank you.” Somehow that reassured her enough to calm down. Emi was sure that she was just going to get in his way again like always, so she switched her focus from his family drama to actually being useful on this excursion. Her bright eyes looked back at the building as the man started to come down the stairs, giving a small nod at Shadow’s plan. “Mmhmm, can do.” The man finally exited the building and Emi quickly hopped out from the car.

“Ugh, I can’t take this anymore!” She gave her best fake huff as she slammed the door. Emi was a surprisingly good actress; she loved drama class and she always had to pretend for her job, besides she wasn’t always happy. Just acting happy. “Hey, sir?” Emi ran up to the man with a nervous smile. “Hi, sorry to bother you. We’ve been driving for hours and my boyfriend is just so stubborn. He refuses to ask for help and if we don’t find this bar soon I’m going to scream. Do you think you could give him some direction?” The tall scary looking tatted up man looked inquisitively at Emi for a long moment then looked at the car, and for a second she doubted herself. “I suppose.” Did it really work?

The man approached Shadows car and Emi gave herself a mental high five, though it wasn’t as easy as she thought. As soon as they got near the car a knife was held to her throat and a gun aimed at Shadow. Her smile quickly fell as the blade bit into her skin. “Did you really think I would fall for something so stupid? Your description matched the guy who killed my friend, yknow the one who shot the lawyer. I heard you had a sidekick then too.” With a harsh slam of the gun he knocked Emi out cold and pointed it back at Shadow, shoving Emi into the backseat. He slid in the seat behind the drivers, his gun staying steady on Shadow. “Take us to the docks or I’ll shoot you and off your little friend. And give me your gun.”

Crow

As much as he hated to admit she was right, well, she was right. He quietly ate a piece of bacon as he listened to her and tried to shake off the anger he had. After losing his dad he was just terrified of losing anyone else and Candy meant so much to him. Crow never meant to upset her and make her cry. When she got up to leave the table he let out a long sigh and scratched his head for a moment as he tried to compose his thoughts. “Aish, woman. You’ve got me all wrong. I don’t think you’re a delicate flower or anything, I know you’re tough as nails. But you’re already injured, I didn’t want him shooting you because you’re vulnerable. How was I supposed to know that you two knew each other?” Dated each other, but he refrained from being bitter about that part.

“I’m sorry, okay?” Crow stood from his seat and he made his way over to Candy, rubbing the arm in the sling as he chose his words carefully. “My dad was involved in the Suits, that’s why I’ve locked myself away for all these years. I knew they’d find me eventually but I didn’t want to drag you into the mess. I-well, I’d be a mess if anything happened to you. I know I’m not a super hero or anything but I do want to keep you safe.” Crow pat Candy’s head and smoothed out her hair with a small apologetic smile. “Would you mind helping me? I’d really like to track that asshole down and kick his ass for terrorizing all of us last night.” Crow handed her one of the tools he had been using to rewire the generator. “There’s this new ice cream shop, want to go get some with me? Everyone’s going to be out late I’m sure, maybe ice cream will make us feel better.”

Doc
They already had to drive to the prison and he’d had rather go inside to be supportive than sit in the car. When she asked all he did was turn off the car, pocket his keys, and follow her inside. They had went through security and escorted to a room before the officer left, and as soon as the dark haired man entered the room Asa immediately knew he wasn’t a good guy. The vibes he gave off, the look he had. A piece of him of him hoped he was wrong but, most of the time, Asa was pretty spot on with his assessments.

Turns out Asa was right. The guy was a fucking asshole. Akari was a headstrong and confident badass but in the matter of minutes she was like a scared child. Asa didn’t like that. So while he wanted to sit and stay quiet he couldn’t any longer. “Officer, you have a wedding ring on.” The tall doctor in a navy suit stood up and walked to the officer in the corner. Quickly he pulled out his wallet and pulled out several hundreds and Asa’s business card. “Buy her something pretty, and tell her if she wants any work done it’s on me. Give me five minutes with this guy, yeah?” The officer was grinning ear to ear and counting the money as he left the room.

Slowly Asa loosened the diamond cufflinks on the cuffs of his sleeves so he could roll them up. He cracked his neck, cracked his fingers, then proceeded to grab her father by the hair on the back of his head roughly. “I try to stick to my “do no harm” oath, but you’re really bringing out the ghetto in me.” With that said he slammed the man’s face into the table, his eyes narrowing down at the man as he screamed. “Now, the respectable cop asked you a question. She deserves an answer.” Still by the hair Asa pulled him from his chair and threw him to the ground, his shiny leather shoe stomping roughly onto his stomach to hold him there. “Tick tock, my patience is running quite thin.” The man screamed in pain from his bloodied and busted nose, which made Asa step harder. The man stammered that the card belonged to her mother, how her and Emi’s dad were part of some group involved with cards. That’s all he knew. “Now was that so hard? The woman leads a very busy life. If she was nothing like you say she’d have nothing to do all day. Kind of like you.”

With that said he let the man go and watched as the officer walked back in. “Sorry, he tried to attack the young lady. I had to step in.” Asa handed the man a few more bills. “Here, for your troubles.” And, with that done, Asa walked to Akari to give her head a small, gentle pat. “Come on, you’ve got your answer.”
