Kqidons stood up with Lux as she approached Susan. "Our rooms?" She asked. "Of course you all will be getting your own quarters? Did you think you'll be sleeping on the floor?" She answered before she turned her back and led the recruits to the hallways. "So, how was the tour for you all?" She asked.
Kokoro laughed a little when she heard what Susan answered with in response to Kqidons. "The tour was pretty nice, yeah... I think I can get used to this place, but if I'm honest, I don't know if I can say the same about all the people here..." She said modestly and with a straight face in response to Susan's asking. "I do wonder what will happen next - the one thing I'm never sure about, it's what could happen next."

Lux didn’t say or write anything. He would have been okay with sleeping on the floor. Not the first time. He glanced over at Kqidons when she reacted to the word ‘Thugalek,’ but didn’t do anything else besides shrug his shoulders in response to Susan asking how the tour was.

After a while of walking, she leads the new recruits to a long hallway; each side of it has a multitude of handleless, mechanical doorways, with a number on top of each one. The captain gestures the doorways to the recruits. "These rooms are preserved for high-class elites, such as yourselves. Unlike the usual barracks that my ship holds for the army, these crewmen rooms are all fitted for one crewmember each." Shuffling through her pocket, she holds out four access cards and four smartphones. "These rooms can only be accessed by using these access cards. I've also be obligated to give you all a military-standard smartphone. Google Pixel 10s. Best phones we can afford." She then hands them out to the recruits, starting with Ma'arz, Kqidons, and Lux. When she reached to Kokoro, she was about to give the access card and phone to her but, quickly realizing her intangibility, she stops herself.

Kokoro listens and seemed to understand - though when Susan got to hand out an access card and a phone, Kokoro could not help but laugh when Susan realised she was intangible, and then retract what she was about to offer. Kokoro didn't say anything on it, but couldn't help herself, and that's why she's laughing a little. She sighed heavily as she tried to compose herself, managing a smile afterwards.

Lux kind of liked the uniform look of the rooms, and then he listens to Susan explain what they are and the keycards and phones. He took the keycard and phone and put them in his mysterious and seemingly bottomless cloak. He looked and saw the small comedic situation of Kokoro’s inability to hold things, and that only encourages him mentally to make an invention for her.

Seeing Kokoro's laughter, she cracks a little grin too. "Follow me for a second." She asked the ghost, where she followed her to what seemed to be her designated room. "You all should know how these cards work, but to make sure that you do, I'll provide a demonstration." She pulls up Kokoro's access card, preparing to make an example. "Holding this card, you just hover it over the scanner..." She taps the card on the scanner next to the doorway for a few seconds. A couple of beeps later, the door opens for Kokoro. "And it should register it and open the door."

1aef09ce498a325dbbf003377e81d257 (1).jpgIt was here that Kokoro got the opportunity to take a sneak peek on the interior of the rooms the captain is assigning them. It had a beautiful color motif, with spacious storage cabinets and comfortable-looking couch and bed.

Kokoro would notice and smiled widely - look at this place! It's not half bad - the basic stuff was all here! She nodded in approval. "Yes, this is nice..." She said simply and opted to head into what is now 'her' room. Thanks to being a ghost, she doesn't need the card anyhow - she can go in and out whenever she wants, though maybe when it comes to other people's rooms, trying to let them know is probably a good idea.

Lux takes his keycard out, and moves to his room that goes with the key. He enters it. The door closes behind him. Nice and smooth and modern. Good. It’s not as minimalistic as he wants it to be, but it’s tolerable. He then looks at the bed. He goes over to it, then laid down. It was more comfortable than anything he’s ever been on. He closes his eyes to see if he could sleep, and accidentally goes right to sleep, chest rising and falling in calm sleep.

"Hey, uh, a couple of questions, if I may?" Ma'arz asked the captain as Lux enters his room with the door closing behind him. “Does these doors have a lock? And if so, is there a way to override it?”

“Well, these doors are entirely mechanical and requires the occupant’s access card to authorize access, so you can say that these doors automatically lock themselves.” She answers as she grabs something from the interior of her jacket. “However, there is a way for me to access not just these doors, but every other one.” She pulls out a card similar to the access cards the crew were given, but it was golden rather than white. “This Master Access Card allows me unrestricted access to all of the facilities of this fleet. Including your personal quarters. Observe.”

She places her master card onto the scanner of Lux’s room. A couple of beeps are heard and the doors open. “Voila.” That’s where she noticed that Lux has passed out on the bed. Ma’arz leans in and sees Lux’s body. “Is he dead?” He asked, concerned. “I know a dead man when I see one. He’s fine. Must’ve never slept in such a comfortable bed or something.” She assured. She briefly sings a verse of ’rockabye baby’ as the doors close.

Kokoro watched and listened, shaking her head a little bit as she noticed the scene. She would however, take note of Susan's 'Master Access Card' - so anywhere and everywhere in the entire fleet is not out of bounds to her... Understandable, as she 'is' the captain, mind you, but yet Kokoro ponders. She shrugged it off as, if she could, close the door to her room - or if it had already done so, she would go on over to her bed - though the problem 'now' is; how does a 'ghost' sleep in a 'physical' bed? ...Like normal? Kokoro proceeded to try just that - even the dead need sleep, sometimes.

Lux hardly even reacted when Susan opened the door and she and Ma’arz looked upon the sleeping soldier. When she sang a verse of ‘rockabye baby,’ his shoulders relaxed just a little bit. And when the door closed to let him sleep, no sound came from inside the room.

Ma'arz looks at Susan again once Lux's room door closes. "One more question-" He tried to ask before being cut off. "If you are asking about your room, don't worry. When I gave you your notice that you've been hired, I had my engineers modify your room to simulate the conditions in your homeworld." She told Ma'arz, who makes a satisfied grin upon being informed this. "Perfect. Thank you for the hospitality that you provide us, captain. I promise we will not disappoint you." He assured Susan, bowing. "I hope not." She responds. "Nice rooms, captain. Thanks." Kqidons said, already entering her room. As Ma'arz leaves to go to his room, Susan pulls out her phone and starts typing on it. "Just so you all know, when you set up your phones, expect an email from me. We got a mission first thing tomorrow morning." She informed in a loud voice so everyone would hear. She then leaves the crew alone so they can do their thing.

Kokoro, upon hearing this, formed a smile on her phantasmal face, as she would drift to rest. Granted, as she is without the phone because ghost qualities, she will have a 'lot' of catching up to do when the time comes. For now, she turned herself intangible to rest, and off she goes.

As for Hamele, who was else where, she had headed to her room as well - and was just staying awake a little longer, for it sounded like she was up to something in that room of hers... Though whatever it was, perhaps it's only her business. Give her time, she'll sleep soon.

Once everyone was in their rooms, Susan whips out her phone and begins to write down an email. Tapping on the letters at a very rapid pace, yet she kept her grammar as smooth as she can. This was what she typed.

Mission Tomorrow
April 19, 2120, HM Calendar

In April 20th, 2120, tomorrow morning sharp, we will be undergoing a mission assigned by the One-Earth Society’s
Interplanetary Bureau of Raw Mineral Extraction (IBRME).

BAC39F7C-B299-435C-8D7A-B37F90F2B6F0.pngWe will be entering a barren exoplanet that is said to carry very valuable resources for our economy and military. Such resources include helium-3, uranium, planetanium, durasteel, etc.

It seemed to be unoccupied and not under the ownership of a foreign power. Due to the exoplanet’s great resource value and apparent lack of current occupying foreign powers, the Interplanetary Bureau of Raw Mineral Extraction plans to claim the exoplanet, create a mining colony, and collect its resources.

The exoplanet, while supporting gravity, does not have an atmosphere, so there will be no oxygen and no protection of the UV radiation. We strongly urge to wear the heavy duty space suits during the mission. Exploration is not restricted, but must require the permission of the captain.

I hope everything goes well in the mission. This will be done in a very dangerous area, so remember: work together as a team. After all, in the One-Earth Society’s First Space Fleet, we only expect the best from the best.

After thoroughly checking her work to see if she hasn’t missed anything, she clicks the send button. With the email being sent to every crewmember of her fleet, she puts away her phone and begins to walk away from the crewmen’s rooms to get some sleep.

  • When Ma’arz first scans his room card into the scanner, the door opens up to reveal another door. Looking at it, confused, he quickly realizes that it’s meant to be a pressurization room. Taking a step in, the door behind him closes and the room begins to depressurize, replacing the oxygen with nitrogen.

The second door opens up for him, revealing his room. “Woah... this is much nicer than I thought it’d be!” He exclaimed, grinning. Looking around the room to make sure if there is no potential security camera, he places his briefcases, smartphone, and access card onto his bed and begins to press a couple of buttons on the wrist of his suit. “And here I thought I had to spend the rest of my days working here in this suit.”

The suit depressurizes. He takes off his glass helmet and takes a sniff of the nitrogen in the air. “It would also be embarrassing, from what I’m currently wearing underneath.” He continued to talk to himself as he presses a button from the inside of his suit. The suit’s latches then disconnect, where each half of the suit drop to the floor, revealing his green and frail body, wearing nothing but a pair of red spandex underwear.

Unfazed, he folds the two halves of his all-purpose suit and puts them in the storage drawer in the front of his bed. Taking his briefcases and his phone, he start to multitask, where he sets up a mini-lab on the coffee table while setting up his phone. When he quickly got those two tasks done, he gets the email from his superior. He reads through it. “Oooh, not a day in and already a mission for us is available.” He said.

“Well, I better get to bed. Can’t go sleeping on the job, after all.” He places the phone underneath the pillow of the bed and lays down on the mattress. “By thy lord, this is super comfy!” He exclaims, surprised at the bed’s comfortable padding. Not half a second later, he falls asleep.

Talia was already chilling in her room. Her pictures and notebooks were strode around on her desk and shelves, several books piled up as well. She wasn’t asleep, necessarily, but she was listening to her music with her eyes closed, so it was close enough.

She had decided she would record the days events in her diary collection (of sorts) later. She usually called the books her event records, but to many people called them diaries at this point. She was almost asleep when her phone buzzed in the pattern that meant Susan had emailed her. She checked it out, set an alarm, and then laid her head back down again.

Xu'Orz strode to the entrance to his room, opening the sliding door with the punching of a code. The interior was inhumanely clean and organized. An advanced computer rested on a desk that was parallel to the foot of his bed. He removed his formal clothing and adorned a set of traditional-styled modern Thugalek sleeping garments, consisting of a loosely fitted white tunic and black stirrup leggings. Xu'Orz then moved towards the computer housed in his room, seeing a notification via Email from Susan. The background was a flat design alien landscape, presumably one from his homeworld.

"Interesting," he said to himself. Xu'Orz scrutinized the attached image for a moment, able to discern little from the visual from space. "Perhaps this exoplanet is one of those containing a subsurface ocean under a thick sheet of ice, now that would be interesting, and convenient for the collection of water of the mining colony that is planned to be established there. Only time will tell."

As Kokoro was already asleep, and did 'not' possess any means to see this email, Hamele did. She looked over it curiously and read over it time and time again until the information stuck. "A mission for resources..." Hamele thought to herself aloud, trying to repeat it to herself. The details of the planet were interesting, but of course, Hamele was focused on the resources to be found there. Containing her excitement, she nodded to herself and proceeded to turn off her phone - which she had used to view that email. And 'then', she went to sleep.

The computer lit up and buzzed with the email informing them of the new mission. It wasn’t the sound, but the light that woke up the masked soldier. He blinked awake, and then sat up. He stretched a bit, having gotten enough sleep in just a few hours, and got up. He sat in the chair to read the email. Once done, he closes the email. He runs a specs check on the computer and phone to know their capabilities. Once he did know, he began using a few tools in his cloak to modify and improve the already-amazing technology. The sounds in his room were only the typing of computer keys, and the small welds and edits of motherboards.

As she makes her way to her own personal quarters, she was on her phone, scrolling down on the latest news articles from her news app. She didn't care much about the latest gossip unless it was urgent. However, from all of the offered news articles she scrolls past (The Washington Post, the Daily News, the Latest Gossip, etc), she always finds herself clicking on one news article.

The Galactic Article.

It is a daily newspaper that is under the direct control of the Supragalactic Union of Authority, where they publish mainly political topics regarding of its neighboring allies and their political relationships, like the Martian Technocracy Kingdom, or the One-Earth Society, or the Krystalline Kingdom.

Speaking of the latter...

RELATIONS STILL SOUR!
Political Relations Between Krystalline Kingdom and Supragalactic Union Continue to Spiral Downward.
As the Krystalline Kingdom continues to be a subject of conspiracy, regarding its corrupt and possibly outright illegal practices in the past, it begins to catch up on them when their relations with the Supragalactic Union of Authority begins to degrade further.

Many times, the Krystalline Kingdom had been accused of conducting corrupt, amoral, and outright illegal actions. Many conspiracy theorists had claimed that the Krystalline Kingdom had even gone as far as establishing trading routes with the Thugalek Mercantile Commission, an independent interstellar power infamous of their corrupt sphere of influence and sole interest of profit. E’Mald, the Krystalline emissary of the Krystalline Kingdom, has time and time again brushed off these concerns as attempts theorists made to gain media attention. “We are not a perfect country. Even the greatest diamonds with the sharpest karats have overlooked cuts and dents,” E’Mald added in her address concerning the conspiracy of the Krystalline Kingdom. “However, we would not be foolish and desperate enough to make these amorous trading deals with the Thugaleks; their technology is great, but the atrocities they had committed against their people and their relentless pursuit on resources is not worth our time trading our beautiful crystals over to them for, what, a couple of plasma weapons?”

Well, maybe it was worth their time. Recent investigations conducted by the Supragalactic Union Investigation Services showed that there had been a communications connection established between the Krystalline Kingdom and the Thugalek Mercantile Commission. "We did not go through the specifics of what sort of topics the political officers of the kingdom were discussing with the emissaries of the commission," Ernest Chase, special agent of the Supragalactic Union Investigation Services, has explained. "What we do know is that the Krystalline Kingdom seems to have set up these communication lines with the Thugaleks for quite some time now. I am not one to immediately jump to conclusions, but there is no doubt that the Krystallines may have been involved in illicit activities with the Mercantile Commission."

The Supragalactic Union confronted the Krystalline Kingdom with this new information, questioning them for what was the kingdom discussing with the Thugalek Mercantile Commission. The Kingdom fought back, saying that the Supragalactic Union's investigation bureau had unlawfully investigated their activities without the consent of Queen Kry-Ztoll or any other higher authority of the kingdom.

So... It seemed like relations with the kingdom and the union hadn't been recovering rather well... 'Good'. she thought. 'The kingdom is as corrupt as the hellhole of the commission; the kingdom is like a mini-hell to the commission's much bigger and expansive hell,' she continued to think, as she begins to grit her teeth in anger. "I hope the Kingdom is voted off of the Union..." She said, her voice surprisingly guttural whilst keeping her tone quiet. As she said that, she realizes what she said out loud and covered her mouth. In a quiet hallway. Where no one would hear her. She takes a deep breath and puts away her phone. Maybe she needs to cut back on the news media...

She reaches to her own room. The doorway was at the same length and width as the other crewmembers' doors, but it had additional entry devices; instead of just a card reader, it has a handprint scanner and a 5-digit passcode. In quick succession, she scans her golden card, enters her password, and places her hand on the handprint reader. Making a double-ding sound, the door opens up for Susan. It reveals a very large room with a large carpet down in the middle. On her sharp left was her personal desk, which has two monitors, a small pile of papers in a gridded basket, and a used teacup. She makes a turn to her left to enter the bathroom to wash herself up.

She undresses from her work uniform and tosses them to a white basket labeled "dirty laundry", revealing her undergarments and her metallic, military-grade prosthetic arm; she had a fairly average feminine build, with a reasonably small bust and some noticeable abs. Undeterred, she grabs her toothbrush and toothpaste and does her usual routine of brushing her teeth. Spitting out the liquidy paste and mouthwash, she exits the bathroom and immediately heads to the doorway in front of her, leading her directly to her bedroom. It had a big, almost king-sized bed with two pairs of side cabinets, one of which has an alarm clock, which shows the time 21:43 HOURS. Rubbing her eyes, she takes off her glasses and places them on the top of the side cabinet near the alarm clock. Wrapping herself in blankets, she makes a sigh as the strength of her eyelids wavers keeping her awake. "Tomorrow's going to be a long day..."

She falls asleep.

THUGALEK SPACE
ASTEROID 2272090
C.I.R.I "Ko-Hediphar"

On an asteroid within Thugalek Space, there lay a large subterranean installation, a relic from an era where the Thugalek Mercantile Commission still had political relations with the other denizens of the galaxy. However, with the embargos and isolation wrought upon the T.M.C. due to a... rift in ideologies and ethics, had been all but abandoned by the Mercantile Commission, but, now, it had a use.

Within a room, which in it had many Thugalek luxuries sparsely found anywhere else in their domain, native flora, ornate tapestries and rugs, smooth mineral floors and walls, and lavish and frankly comfortable seating, complemented by the teal tint of ceiling lights, there was a large desk, which behind it sat 15 chairs, of which the center three were filled. On the left sat Ta'Grek, Grand Councilman of the Military Commission, of whom oversaw the production and distribution of weapons, infanty, motorized divisions, artillery, and AFVs. In the center there sat Ga'Brek, Grand Councilman of the Authority Commission, who dealt with the governance and control of that which rest within Thugalek Space. Finally to the left Un'Garen was seated, the one in direct control of all political relations between the Thugalek Mercantile Commisson and all any foreign powers that desired to confer witht he Commission. Across from them to the front, there sat various chairs and desks. There seated was their visitor. At all exits and entrances were stations elite Thugalek guards, each adorned in the highest quality exoskeletal armors and powerful firearms.

A single camera broadcasting to additional security staff was affixed at the center of the ceiling.

Ga'Brek was the first to speak. "I hope you understand how... significant this meeting is. For many years the TMC has been excluded from the interstellar organizations. But let us skip formalities. We are here to sell, and you are here to buy."

Ta'Grek spoke next. "What you are asking for, is a mass shipment of Thugalek weaponry, specifically those weapons that use plasma. Let me assure, there is a hefty price on these firearms. The most refined Thugalekite engineering has been poured into the manufacturing and design of these firearms. However, based on the fact that you, the leader of a nation within the Galactic Union is within Thugalek Space for democratic purposes, I assume you have the funds necessary for the purchase of these arms."

FInally, Un'Garen had his turn to speak. "Before we can allow you to secure the shipment, it is mandatory you understand the conditions of this policy," Un'Garen motioned towards a large pneumatic door behind him. A guard punched in a code, and the door opened slowly, the hiss of the pistons resonating. It was a minute before a flatbed cargo transportation was able to haul out a large decagonal storage container, within it containing ten smaller sections, each containing a few hundred plasma weapons of Thugalek craft. "Within this storage container is approximately 7,500 plasma weapons. Two variety of pistol, three variety of sub-machine gun, one variety of rifle, two variety of shotgun, and two variety of machine gun. While this shipment is relatively small, should future relations go smoothly, be assured that the variety, quantity, and even quality of the shipments increase. However, first, we must discuss the terms of purchase, payment, and transport. What is your offer for these weapons?"

The visitor, in question, was listening very carefully to the councilmen of the commission, being accompanied by two guards wearing royal armor and welding diamond-tipped spears.

The visitor is wearing a fancy furry cloak, one akin to a royal aristocrat, that concealed their body, as well as a golden, tiara-like crown that seemed to be connected with their crystal-like cap that seemed to resemble a hairstyle. Their large eye stared at each of the councilmen they were facing, only changing their attention to the next councilman that spoke to them. Finally, Thugalek Councilman Un’Garen spoke one sentence that excite them the most.

"What is your offer for these weapons?"

After a few moments once this was spoken to them, the visitor covers their mouth, making a quiet chuckle. Even so, the councilmen knew that, by the sound of the chuckle, their client was very excited to make their offer.

“I am glad you ask.”

Their client finally said, speaking in a low, but very feminine, accent as they waved their hand away from their mouth.

“However, there is one thing you must know about my nation before I make my first offer.”
The visitor stood up from their chair, gesturing their guards to stay put, and approached the three councilmen. “As you may or may not know, the Supragalactic Union of Authority usually only make trades to their allies, which is mainly the official members of the union, such as the Martian Technocracy Kingdom, the One-Earth Society, and my own nation.” The client explains, speaking in a very calm and attentive tone of voice. The client is trying to make their explanation as brief as possible, as to not try and bore their providers. “Each of these nations have a specialization on what trades they like to make. The Martians trade genetics technology and FTL fuel. The Humans trade plasma weapons and solar technology. As for me? Well...”

The client shuffled around the inside of their cloak and revealed a giant round diamond. It makes a blinding shine around the room, as the client had purposely presented the diamond below the teal ceiling lights. “Diamonds.” They simply said initially, as they eventually pull the diamond away from the light so they can properly show the Thugalek councilmen the diamond they have presented. “More specifically, alloys and minerals for the Union. You see, the surface of my home planet is covered in a thick layer of crystalline, with many parts of the crystal surface made from a different crystal structure and color. It is my kingdom’s main trading instrument.”

The client tosses the diamond to Grand Councilman Ga’Brek so he can take a closer look at the crystal. Clean-cut, crystal-clear, and as big as his palm. “Do be aware that the diamond I presented is not my final offer.” The client reminds the councilmen. “It is merely my way of letting you all know that this, and the rest of my future offers, will mainly consist of crystalline minerals and objects.”

The three councilmen seemed, underwhelmed. They leaned towards each other and spoke quietly for a few minutes, before turning again to their guest. Ga'Brek placed the jewel in his hand carefully onto the desk in front of him.

Un'Garen spoke, talking with a questioning tone. "We have it you understand the status of the Thugalek Mercantile Commission, being equally or more developed than the members of your Union. As is such, we have been able to sufficiently extract all the necessary minerals in order to reach this stage for as long as our galactic state has been officially recognized. If we were to accept this deal, all we would have is a surplus of minerals and alloys, of which we wouldn't have a use for. Tell us, why would we free thousands of our own weapons for shipments of crystalline minerals and alloys when we could simply establish more mining installations on mineral rich celestial bodies."

"What makes your offer of diamonds special?"

The client stood attentively to what Councilman Un’Garen has to say. Their eye stared at the councilman unmovingly. She rose their head upon being interrogated about the worth of her crystalline alloys and minerals. After the councilman had his say, the client moved their eye away and thought about their next response. Un’Garen has spoken a very valid counter argument.

A few moments had passed until the client rose their head again, with an idea. The client quickly returns eye contact with the councilmen. “I apologize for the silence, men. It seemed like you have made a very valid counter argument, regarding of my offer of the supply of crystalline.” The client admitted, nodding their head in acknowledgment. “It took me a moment to make my next response but...” They turned their head to the royal guards that had accompanied the client. “Seeing my royal troops that had accompanied me in our meeting... it gave me an idea for my next offer.” The client turned their head back to the councilmen, now having regain proper confidence. “At any point in your expedition on resources, have you ever encounter a super powered crystalline-like object?”

The interest of the councilmen peaked, and a sly grin spread across Ta'Grek's face. They huddled again for a moment, talking, little to discern from the welter of murmurs. At one point Ga'Brek chuckled. It was a brief time before Un'Garen rose to speak once more.

"It appears you have now peaked our interest."

Un'Garen composed himself proper, pressing his hands together vertically palm-to-palm.

"In our expeditions for resources, we have not found any sort of 'super powered crystalline-like object', as you describe. This aforementioned object, what exactly can it do to benefit the Thugalek Mercantile Union? What are its properties? What are its uses?"

The client laughed quietly, pleased by the peaked interests of her soon-to-be providers. "Now now, sirs. Be a little more patient. I will give you all the explanation you all desire in a second." The client responds. The client then points to one of their royal guards and gestured the guard to approach her. "You there! Bring me your spear." The client ordered. The royal guard approached the client and calmly presented their weapon to the client. She take the spear and began to fiddle around with the weapon, clearly trying to find something within the spear.

Eventually, the client pulls out a thin, red double-terminated crystal. It makes an ominous glow as a red electric-like phenomenon cackles within the crystal. "This is the superpowered crystal that I was referring to; my people simply call it an Energy Crystal." The client introduced the object to the councilmen. "What I am presenting is a mass-produced copy of a Red Energy Crystal." The client calmly places the red Energy Crystal on the desk, near the councilmen to give them the option to examine the crystal. "The properties of each Energy Crystal is entirely dependent on the color of each crystal. The red one that I presented is used on various weapons for my military forces." The client explains to the councilmen, whilst still holding onto the spear weapon that she had collected from the royal guard."The red crystal can be used to power weapons similarly to plasma weapons. Unlike plasma, however, the weapons that use Red Energy Crystals can recharge on its own. Theoretically, if given periodic breaks to cool down, weapons utilizing Red Energy Crystals can never run out of ammo."
