Talia and Hamele, were in fact, already in the cafeteria. Talia had already gotten a cup of coffee, leaned against a wall, and watched the human interact with another new crew member. The ghost girl, it seemed. When Kqidons came up to them, she thought for a moment that another fight would break out, until it seemed that they were on good terms now. She wondered if she should approach them, talk, make friends, all that good stuff. But at the same time she was wasn't willing to be patronized and the Vagrok seemed very... frustrating.

Hamele in question hadn't quite noticed the ghost girl of Kokoro, though she could faintly hear the whole conversation going on - not every last word was clear, but most of them were. Hamele simply smiled as she would overhear as such, relaxing with Talia as she would be having her own cup of coffee. Maybe she'll notice if explicitly stated, or if something happens that's loud enough to draw her attention to it...

Ma’arz nods and makes his way back to the vivariums to grab the specimen. He was tempted to add that, since his suit was an all-in-one type of space suit, his suit is very durable from damage and that the ictustoma wouldn’t even leave a mark on his suit, should it bite it. However, he didn’t say anything, as he felt that it was unnecessary to make such a comment.

Carefully opening the glass door by the handle, he slowly reaches his hands towards the specimen, where it initially stood back, feeling a little threatened. Ma’arz then quickly grabbed the specimen, where it yelped in fear. It did this a couple of times until the Martian held it near his chest and pet it in an attempt to calm it down. “Shh, shhhh... it’s alright, do not worry...” He said in a quiet tone as he approached Xu’Orz, holding the ictustoma specimen. “I have acquire the specimen, just as you requested.” He informed the Thugalek.
Xu'Orz
He shifted his gaze towards the small creature that the Martian held in his hands. "Excellent, now we may proceed." He said, and he carefully plucked the ictustoma from the grasp of Ma'arz. He carried it towards a small table, which upon it rested many tools. First, Xu'Orz took a small gel-like substance and rubbed it onto the ventral surface of the ictustoma. Almost immediately, the ictustoma entered a state of tonic immobility, and unconsciousness. He grabbed one tool in particular that looked somewhat like a pen with a laser pointer on both ends. He put a small bit of pressure on a button, which ignited a small plasmoid blade. "If you're squeamish, I suggest you look away." He pressed the blade of the tool, and pulled his hand down, cutting the skin of the ictustoma. Inside apart from organs, were hundreds of thousands of eggs, and he only needed one.

With a very small set of forceps, he extracted a single egg from all of the rather unsightly spawn. The switched off the cutting part of the tool, and pressed a small bit of pressure onto a button of the opposite side of the tool, and switched the way he held the tool. He dragged the tool back up the stomach, and as if a zipper, the cut had closed, leaving a thin strip of pale scar tissue. "Ma'arz, please take the ictustoma back, it'll wake soon, and I'd rather not have it loose in the cloning facility."

Ma’arz looked carefully as Xu’Orz does the entire process of collecting an egg sample from the specimen; although he cringed slightly as he saw the Thugalek cut open the belly of the ictustoma, he never broke eye contact.

“No problem, sir.” He responded to Xu’Orz’s request as Ma’arz carefully grabs the unconscious specimen and brings it back to its rightful place. “If I may ask, Xu’Orz,” He began as he put the specimen back to its cage and shut it. “What gel did you apply to the specimen that caused it to quickly lose conscious?” He asked as he quickly returns to the Thugalek. “Oh, and while I’m asking, how does the collection of a ictustoma egg have any connection to the cloning process that we are about to conduct?”

As Ma’arz and Xu’Orz talked, the captain just silently stared at them talk, not wanting to interrupt them now. She had been here for quite a while now, even trying to greet them to alert them of her presence, but it seemed that they’ve never got the message. She just now silently observes them cooperate with each other as the Thugalek demonstrates the cloning process to the curious Martian.

Xu'Orz

"The gel I used was a concoction of narcotics and tranquilizers. I don't remember the chemicals used by hand, but it's a reliable source. It quickly is absorbed the the skin of most carbon-based lifeforms and then into the bloodstream." He paused while Ma'arz asked another question. "The egg is necessary for the artificial development of a fetal ictustoma, and will have the nucleus removed, leaving an empty slate of which to use for the facilitation of embryonic development for our clone, of which will have entirely different genes."

As Xu’Orz answered Ma’arz’s first question, he carefully grabbed the tub filled with the gel the former had previously used. At the bottom is text, which is written in Martian Hieroglyphs. This was no problem for him to read out a decipher. However, before he did, he looked back at the Thugalek, who had stopped talking for a moment when he had spoken his second question, and awaited an answer.

“Hm... I see.” He responded simply. “So, if I’m not mistaken, by removing the nucleus of the egg, could it mean that we can modify it to our desire during the process?” He asked honestly. Cloning in his homeworld was usually more automated, so he was curious to see if cloning was different with foreign technology.

As he waited for an answer, he looked at the text of the tub and quietly read it. “[Leniendo topicane. Gel-like sedative that can put subject into state of unconsciousness when applied to subject’s skin. Only use for medical/experimental purposes. Made with Martian hands.]” He read out using his native tongue... and by his native tongue, he read it by speaking out nothing more than ‘acks’.

Xu'Orz

"Essentially, yes. I'm sure you know that the nucleus holds all the genetic material of an organism." He paused. "We have a genetic database that we can use to synthesize an entirely new nucleus. While, we are limited by what we know what each gene does, but that does not apply for the ictustoma, plenty of research has gone into it, and we have a clear picture of what everything does."

  • The scars you see are some, of too many to count. Be honored, as I’ve shown no one else this.

He wrote, hiding the scars from Kokoro. He understood what she said under her breath, and simply didn’t respond to that.
"My only wish is that you could show me more..." She said initially, still in awe of what she is seeing. Quickly, though, she broke herself from the state of awe and tried to retain her normally-harsh tone of voice. "But I know that those scars are your own, not mine. I do not have the right to see all of your cicatrixes without your own consent." She said, lowering her head as she looked at Lux in the eyes.

Correct that you do not have the right. Nor do I give it to you. Maybe perhaps if we become friends, and I learn to trust you as I have only trusted one being before, I may show you more. The rest you must find out about.

He writes, gesturing for her to raise her head. He may have much respect in her culture, but he doesn’t like being considered royalty.

Xu'Orz

"Captain Susan, quite the unexpected arrival" Xu'Orz addressed. "What brings you here, there is still much for Ma'arz to see within the facility? I suspect your arrival means that we must conclude the tour for the time being."

“It is almost nine-thirty PM; the most recommended time for you both to go to bed.” She noted, initially not answering Xu’Orz’s question. “Earth time?” Ma’arz asked, immediately assuming on the time of the planets. “Not really. Solaris-time.” She corrected him. Ma’arz sighs at this new information. Looks like he has to adapt to the new sleeping time.

Xu'Orz

"In that case, Ma'arz, we may save this experiment for a later date." Xu'Orz said as he stored the extracted egg in a small petri dish, which was then put into a small cryogenic storage tub. "I'll be headed off to sleep. As soon as I get this suit off, that is." Xu'Orz departed from the cloning facility, removing the suit from his person and putting it within a closet holding others. He awaited at the door of the facility for the two to exit.

Susan nods before turning to Ma'arz. "Let's go, Ma'arz. I am going to need you and the rest of the recruits with me." She informs Ma'arz. "Wait. I want to say my farewell to Xu'Orz." He insisted. Respecting that, she gestures Ma'arz to the Thugalek before she leaves to wait for the Martian to be done saying his goodbye.

"Xu'Orz, I want to say thank you for this exciting learning experience." He began, maintaining a simple and calm, if excited, composure. "Never before in my life do I get the opportunity to exchange knowledge to a being such as yourself. I thought I'd be an old man by the time hostile relations between our factions doe down and allow interspecies talk. But it looks like I don't have to wait." He then offers a handshake. "Shall we cross paths again tomorrow?"

As Ma'arz and Xu'Orz talked, Susan pulls out her phone and calls Talia. She waits for the Da'Mapello to pick it up, making the audible ringing sound.

Talia jumped as she heard the ringing sound, and pulled out her phone to check it. She answered quick as she could, putting it up to her ear. “What’s up.” She asked her Capitan, skipping the ‘hello’s.

Xu'Orz

Xu'Orz grasped the martian's hand firmly. "Perhaps these are the first steps of a long journey to proper interspecies relations." He shook with vigor, jostling the arm of Ma'arz about as if a ragdoll. Xu'Orz let go after a moment, waving a goodbye and walking towards his room, which stood only a brisk walk away.

He gritted his teeth in pain from Xu'Orz's firm handshake but didn't want to yelp and embarrass himself. Once he is done, Ma'arz waves goodbye back and leaves the room to catch up with Susan.
Talia jumped as she heard the ringing sound, and pulled out her phone to check it. She answered quickly as she could, putting it up to her ear. “What’s up.” She asked her Capitan, skipping the ‘hello’s.

"Talia, it is nine-thirty PM. I intend to show our new recruits their new rooms." She informs Talia on the phone. "I have Ma'arz right now. Do you have Lux, Kqidons, and Kokoro with you?"

Talia nodded, even though Susan couldn’t see her. “Yeah. They seem to be getting along fine right now. You want me to show ‘Em to their rooms I gather?” She asked, even though she already knew the answer.

"That won't be necessary. I have their access cards and standard-issue smartphones. You can come with me if you wish, but it isn't much you can do." She explains to Talia as Ma'arz stood beside her. "Pardon me, captain, but who are you talking to?" He asked the captain. "Talia Shore. I am going to show you and the recruits something." She replies.

Talia sighed into the phone, with an emotion she couldn’t really identify at the moment. “Nah, I’ll just head straight to my room.”

"Alright. Goodnight." She finished as she hung up on Talia and turns to Ma'arz. "Come with me." She ordered as she walks out of the lab, now with Ma'arz on tow.

As the rest of the recruits (Kqidons, Lux, and Kokoro) sat in the cafeteria with Talia and Hamele, their captain finally comes back, with the Martian with her. "Kokoro, Lux, Kqidons. It is nine-thirty PM, Solaris-time. It is time for me to conclude the tour for the time being." She announced to the recruits before she gestures the recruits to follow her. "Come with me. It is time for me to show you all your new rooms."

Kokoro saw Susan and nodded, glancing to Lux and Kqidons - then to Talia and finally noticing Hamele (to which Hamele also just this second noticed there was a ghost on board). Kokoro would wordlessly opt to follow Susan, while Hamele just sat there with 'how did I not notice' levels of excitement. 'Curses...' She thought to herself. 'I will have to pursue that ghostly presence another time, then!' She added to those thoughts.

Once Susan arrives and states that it’s time to go view their new rooms, he looks at Kokoro and Kqidons, giving the latter a small nod of acknowledgement, and stood up, following her over to Captain Susan.

Kqidons stood up with Lux as she approached Susan. "Our rooms?" She asked. "Of course you all will be getting your own quarters? Did you think you'll be sleeping on the floor?" She answered before she turned her back and led the recruits to the hallways. "So, how was the tour for you all?" She asked. "It was great, captain! As you know, I got to meet with a fellow crewmember who I can exchange my knowledge and viewpoints with!" Ma'arz said, excitedly. "The real bonus was his species. I've talked to a couple of people with differing species, but never a Thugalek." This caused Kqidons' hands to clutch, as she tried to restrain her anger. 'A THUGALEK?' she thought, livid.
