I know right? Coulda taken Vita back and had her put out the fire, but noooooo, gotta save the master and let the elephants die :(

Then again, I don't think the rider twins actually know Vita can control fire so... there's that.

Burning Elephants: You Idiots!!! Why you leave us?!

-Present Day-

Ryuga would understand what the person meant.
"Unless I myself take action, I won't be able to claim the future I wish for." He looked at The Caretaker, before saying, "I will not fail you. Caster," He said, as he turned around and would head to the shrine's exit. "Let's get that train finished." He wasn't going to waste any more time.

Interactions: (Caretaker of Darkness) QuirkyAngel QuirkyAngel , (Caster of Darkness) Idea Idea
Also, I think you deleted the flashback Illya-Chan.

*Confused.*
Major spoilers half-wrong and entirely inconsistent with everything the character has been so far, pretending to have my permission to use my character when I didn’t give it (by mistake, not pretend on purpose) , plenty of reasons to try to get that of the map...

Got it. *Confusion lifted.*

So...the thing about the elephants dying. After asking my brother, and reading some stuff, I got that Noble Phantasms aren't easily repaired once destroyed. Bucephalus (Alexander the Great's mount) doesn't come back once killed in a Grail War. If Medusa loses Pegasus in a Grail War, it's not coming back until she gets summoned to the next one. Break Excalibur and Artoria can't just summon another Excalibur (there's only one of it's kind). But I actually didn't mean for Rider to perma-lose her mount, so here are the excuses I have:

  1. The mounts she summons aren't actually the Noble Phantasm. Trung Sisters, Self-Righteous Symbols of Freedom is. They can simply summon war elephant mounts as per the NP's effects. These elephants obviously not as strong as named beasts of legend or anything, but they're mounts (like weapons) and she can make/summon as many as she wants. Infinite Blade Works.
  2. She's got some sort of ability to revive her mounts due to some sort of connection or something like that...
  3. Mounts didn't actually die. Managed to escape fire somehow and were just de-summoned (as dead things don't generally come back to life)
  4. Anything else you can come up with. It's your character lol. I just want things to make sense for me.
Your post sounds like a combo of #1 and #2. Mounts aren't actually the NP, they are part of the NP that allows her to summon mounts. Due to that, she can re-create her mount from memory (if you want to say it's Koki) infinitely so long as she has the mana to do so. Does that sound right?

I viewed the elephants more like Iskander's horse. NP-tier, but it isn't actually his NP. In the description for Rider's NP the elephants are merely just one part of it, and it doesn't even specify they're specific elephants, just that they can summon 'war elephants'. That's why I didn't say anything, cuz nothing in the CS suggests they're unique, one of a kind things like most physical NPs are. It's more like.. Berserker's ability to turn anything he perceives as a weapon into a NP. Even if you destroy the weapon, you didn't destroy the actual NP. Same way how even if you kill the elephants, the NP that allows them still exists.

I was under the impression Iskander's horse was one of his NPs (because it has a name), but eh, I could be mistaken...

Still want to double check with Misu because the fact that Rider gave it a name, and writes in her post that she can re-summon it, makes me question whether the 'war elephant' might be a personal one. Dead things can't really be "re-summoned" in my mind. Either she can just summon elephants (not the exact one that died) because of her NP or she's able to revive/recreate the dead one because of the NP. Wanted to be clear on the exact details =P

Iskander only has two NPs. His chariot and his iongofuckyourself. He can just summon the horse because... it's his horse lol. A lot of servants have abilities that aren't specified in skills or NPs. Just sorta tertiary benefits they get.

I try not to do that because Servants are OP enough as it is and letting them go beyond the CS just causes problems. Plus, I kinda see everything they do (besides the spirit form and regular combat weapons) as skills/NP or extensions of it. Servants operate like a game to me. Anime can spruce it up all they want, but when spirits are summoned by the grail, they are limited in my the mechanics of the game called the Grail War (which I limited skills to 6). They don't get all their abilities, nor can they carry every item they had in life.

Did Iskander ever summon his horse in anime? Because I figured if the horse dies it the grail war, it dies. Same way the bulls that pulled his chariot did. Kinda remember Iskander charging at Gilgamesh on foot when both his NPs broke...why didn't he summon his horse if he could?

The Horse was part of his Ionowhatever NP, same way the elephants are part of Rider's NP. They aren't THE NP, they're PART of the NP. But it could be used outside of the reality marble as well, and was used as Iskander's mount after he lost his chariot. It's only ever taken down when Iskander also dies soon after in his final charge, so there's no way to know whether he could re-summon it or not.

For me, personally, I view it as a simple matter of what is the actual NP. If something's created by a NP, then destroying the creation isn't permanent. It's like if you block excaliblast, there's nothing stopping Saber from creating another excaliblast because excalibur, the source, still exists. Much the same way how if you kill something summoned by a NP, but don't stop the NP itself, then the creation can be re-made.

So, since the elephants aren't the NP, they're just created by the NP, killing them wouldn't be permanent because the NP itself is still in effect. To permanently take out the elephants you'd have to take out the NP that creates them. Much like how Gil had to destroy Iskander's reality marble to permanently kill his soldiers. Because even if his shoulders died (like when they fought Cthulhu over there), they can just be resummoned the next time Iskander uses his reality marble. Because the soldiers themselves aren't the NP, the reality marble is.

That's how I view it, at least. It all comes down to what's the actual NP. Is the creature itself the NP, like Medusa's Pegasus or Iskander's chariot? Or is the creature merely created by the NP like Lancelot creating weapons or Iskander creating his soldiers?

Edit: So, to permanently take out the elephants in my view you'd have to play to Rider's NP and remove their control over their territory. Since if they don't own any territory their NP isn't in effect and thus can't summon the elephants. At least, again, that's how I view it all.

Got it. My memory of the the battle was somewhat sketchy.
