Fantasy Farewell to Kings: Elide’s Tale

The ground beneath them started to crumble. The sword lifted up and started carrying them over the wall and into an open meadow of grass with enough room for them to escape. Eli and Bart were locked in an embrace as they descended from the flaming chaos.

As soon as they landed, a ring of fire formed a large circle around them.
“Oh no! You won’t escape that easily, you goddamn gypsie!” The voice of Lady Jane shrieked as she flew down with a parasol and clutching a sword in her other hand. She landed in the circle of fire and looked Eli’s way.
”You don’t realize the irreparable harm you’ve inflicted upon us! The inquisition will hunt you to the ends of the earth for this transgression!”

"Shit." Elide growled as she carefully pulled away from Bart, facing Lady Jane. "So you're the one everyone's been talkin' about."

She smiled and held the blade steady. “The tea was quite nice. If I knew you’d destroy my precious city, I would’ve poisoned you right then.... ah, I can’t sense you anymore. You did it, didn’t you? Foolish girl. How do you plan to win without your aether?”
With a wave of her hand, she summoned a pack of dire wolves.

"Gerald. Don't fail me now." She murmured to the sword, gripping it tightly as she approached the woman with a scowl

The sword sighed. “Right, right... sorry, just running low on energy now. That castle hit had a lot of juice behind it.”

Lady Jane cackled and sent her dogs after Elide. She could managed to cut it a couple down, but the rest were coming as well.
Bart managed to grab one of the wolves by the tail and started thrashing it around. He knew it was dead by the time it dissipated.

Lady Jane came in with her sword and started swinging wildly at Elide.

Elide held her ground and quickly deflected her blows. sending the blade into the woman's knee.

She let out a grunt of pain and stepped back.
“Curse you... there’s no point in this battle besides settling a score. I think you were a fool to give up your birthright like that. After my people stole the aether magic from the gypsies we were told to eliminate them all, to keep it secret. Of course that task was near impossible. You people are like cockroaches. Though, when I heard one of the high priests had an affair with a gypsie woman he planned to marry, I saw to it personally that he did what he was supposed to.”

A scowl formed over her face as she charged once again, aiming for the woman's chest.

She deflected the attack and backed off her again, laughing with a posh ho ho ho like she was having tea.
“The power these eyes give me are astounding. The mind of such a weak little man was easy to manipulate. Marcelo will be missed, but not his bastard daughter or whore lover!”

She let out a series of curses the words cutting like blades into her flesh. She gripped Gerald and held her ground, facing the woman with a sneer

“Hohoho, well that’s the Gypsy way I suppose. Slinging gibberish until their pathetic little culture burns around them... how fitting of an end for you.” She raised her sword and channeled her energy. Eli felt the grips of aether magic clinging to her body, preventing her from moving. Even the sword was unable to move.
“Now die, you foul little thing.” She said and swung her sword.

Before she could connect, Jane was ambushed by a blind Bart, who tackled her to the ground and proceeded to claw and punch the absolute fucking brains out of Lady Jane. He dropped blow after blow, roaring like a wild beast. She tried to lift her head or the sword, but he just grabbed her arm and twisted it off, just to then beat her with her own arm until she laid a bloodied mess barely resembling a person.

After this act of ultra violence, Bart looked around.

“Eli? Did I get her? This will be really awkward if Jane’s still standing.”

Her eyes widened at the mess. "Y-Yep. She's beyond dead." Eli let out a quiet laugh staring at the mess. She offered Gerald the Jane's soul, the aether lingering around her body, an idea floating into her head. She scanned through the bloodied mess and grabbed a small jewel tied to a necklace. She whispered a small incantation, allowing the aether to enter the object.

The necklace changed from red to purple, and the aether pulsed like a small heartbeat inside the jewel.
The sword started gleaming bright again. “Yup, just as I expected. She was carrying a ton of energy with her. I can take you anywhere you’d like to go, but it’s a one way trip. After this, there won’t be much of Gerald left. This is goodbye, foolish girl.” the sword chuckled.

She smiled down at the sword, turning back towards Bart. "Where do you wish to go?" She asked

(WEST VIRGINIAAAAAAAAA MOUNTAIN MAMAAAAAAAAAAAAA TAKE ME HOMEEEEEEEE COUNTRY ROADDDDSSSSSSSSSSSSSS)

She smiled up at him and gripped her sword. "Alright Gerald, you know the drill."

A great blue light surrounded the two of them, and a moment later they were gone. Dominion was falling, and Rodrick retook the capital city that was stolen from his family.

Somewhere, in a little fishing village, people witnessed a blue light, then the emergence of two battle scarred people, one of which they called family. It was just before dawn, and the orange crystal on the bay was gleaming through the misty fog.

She let out a quiet sigh as the lavender scent of her homeland rushed back to her like a long forgotten dream

The crystal inside the azure sword was dull, and a big crack split down the middle. Then, fell out completely into pieces. The outer steel frame was still in tact however.
“Man, it’s a good thing I didn’t sell it way back when, Huh?” Bart chuckled. It had felt like a lifetime ago when they were just two friends working the guild together.

She chuckled, "Yea," She smiled, slipping her hand into his. She slowly led him towards their small town, bright colors and lights glimmered all across the town, little jewels catching the sunlight, creating a beautiful array of colors. She smiled softly, resting her head against Bart's arm

“I... I really am blind, huh?” Bart said, with the realization hitting him. “Like it’s all gone... your smile, the stars. I’ll never see them again.”

"I-I think one of our healers can fix you. Here." She said quietly, gently pulling him along towards one of the older buildings she carefully stepped inside, music rang through the quiet home. "Mama Lela?" Elide called quietly. There was silence before a rush of feet. Elide barely had time to react before she was pulled into a tight hug. "Oh my river lily! You're home! I'm gon' go tell the others!" She chuckled before stopping at the sight of Bart. "Oooo baby! You brought back a man!" Elide blushed before regaining herself. "Actually- Mama, he's the reason we're here. You're the best healer I know," She said quietly.
Mama Lela nodded before taking Elide and Bart's hands. "Alright now child. Here sit down," She carefully helped Bart to sit down with a smile. "Alright now. I'm gonna need some quiet." She said softly before closing her eyes and beginning the chant, the magic of the aether swirling around them.

The burns and bruises on Bart’s face started healing at an incredible rate. His handsome charm was back in no time, as were his eyelids. The eyes themselves were a little harder to heal, but with enough focus, his irises were restored. He blinked and smiled.
“I.... I see something. It’s cloudy, but... no... I must be seeing double vision. Eli, you have two regular eyes.”

She nodded, tears beginning to roll down her cheeks, a smile covering her face. "Y-Yes, I-I do,"

Bart lunged forward and pulled her into a passionate kiss with tears falling from his eyes. Any sight was enough for him, as long as he could see her face. “Oh god Elide, I was so worried I’d never see you again.”
