Fantasy Farewell to Kings: Elide’s Tale

She didn't feel bad for her father. He was receiving what was deserved. "We ready to continue?" She asked after a moment or two

The sword agreed there was nothing else to do. It gleaned brightly and created a blue field of energy around Elide that would instantly transport her exactly where she wanted to go.

As she disappeared, Leona and Tess ran towards her, and looked rather defeated when Elide suddenly vanished.

What Elide saw next was the inside of a dingy prison cell, where a beaten man was chained to the wall. He had long hair and stubble, and burn marks all over his face. He also had a very familiar snake tattoo on his arm.

She gasped and bolted over to his side. "Oh my god Bart!" She said softly, kneeling down in front of him, tears welding up in her eyes. She had done this.

Bart woke up with a gasp. He looked frantically around him and felt someone touching him. “Who-whose there! I told you everything!” He was breathing quickly. The glow of the sword was bright enough to let her see the damage done to him. His eyelids were completely burned off, and his eyes were boiled to the point of uselessness. It’s as if he spent a year staring into the sun.

She started to cry as she forced herself to her feet. She gripped the sword and gently cut him free, catching him so he wouldn't fall. "Bart... It's Elide. I'm going to get you out of here." She murmured softly.

Bart felt his arms come free. They were numb, but he felt free at last. “Eli? Is that you? It sounds like you. How did you get in here?” We’re like, three floors underground!”

"Yes. It's me. And I'll explain that later. For now I've got some things to take care of." She said softly, gently wrapping a hand around his waist, trying to help support him.

He was able to stand alright. He had only been in this jail for a couple days. He’d done worse time in the slammer, he thought. “You and I both. I’m ready to bust a few skulls... you didn’t happen to bring any food, did you?”

"No. But I will get you something, don't worry." She said quietly, trying to comfort him as they started up the stairs. "What did you tell them?" She asked quietly

Bart let out a regretful sigh. “Too much. It was terrible. I never felt so much pain. The beast inside me was forced to heel. I told them about your father, and the spirits, and your eye. They just wouldn’t stop. I’m sorry.” He broke down and started sobbing.

"Shh, it's okay," She said quietly. "You have nothing to apologize for, they would've found out regardless." She murmured, gingerly kissing him

“Hey, who goes there?” A guard’s voice called and started approaching. They were on the second floor basement at the moment.

She gently set Bart down on one of the stairs. "Wait here, unless you wish to join." She said quietly before hurrying towards the voice.

“It’s too dark. Go on and do your thing.” Bart whispered.

The guard had his sword drawn and watched as Elide emerged with her glowing sword.
“Halt! Nobody is allowed here! Drop your weapon now!”

She swung her sword with a scowl. "No, I don't think I will." She hissed before slashing at the man.

The slash went right through the man, cleaving him in two and the remnants being quickly absorbed into the blade.
“Nice. Another nine of them and I can use the teleport again. I’ve got other tricks too, if you want to bring this prison down.”

"That sound quite enjoyable," She chuckled softly to her sword as she went back and retrieved Bart

Bart scraped his way up. He looked around, trying to feel his way through the dungeon.
“It’s pitch black in here. Are you using your magic to find things?” He asked. The sword started charging up. Being pointed at the sky, it released a shot that blasted clear through the roof and the first floor basement. There was a clear hole where the moon was casting its glow.
Elide felt like she was flying. In fact, the sword was pulling her upwards with Bart in tow, like they were weightless. “Whoa! Did you get the eye after all? This is crazy!” They landed on the roof of the building.
Below, soldiers were scrambling trying to figure out what had just happened.

"Not really... Uh- I'll explain it to you in a minute." She gently set Bart down again, swinging her sword once more. "Alright Gerald. Let's do this."

Gerald approves, pulling itself in the direction of the capital building. It was charging another blast.
While that happened, a horn blew over the crest of a hill. Horses started descending in droves down towards the walls of Dominion. Soldiers came with pikes and ladders, setting them up and started to climb the walls. Those who did started attacking Dominion soldiers.
“That sound... the horn of war. Is that Rodrick’s Army?” Bart asked, listening to the chaos. It seemed like they were lying in wait for a moment like this to occur.
This ones for...?” The sword asked, allowing Elide to take charge and annihilate the castle.

"Bart, myself, and everything else this jackasses have done." She growled swinging towards the castle, taking down a few soldiers on the way

The bolt of energy sliced through the castle and caused a tremendous explosion that shook the ground for miles. Fire and chaos spread through the entire state as invading soldiers busted through and started their invasion. The chaos was growing by the second.

“Eli... I wanna go home.” Bart said, short of breath. “I wanna go swimming and spend every day with you. I wish we never came to Dominion. I wish... we weren’t these people anymore. These hack and slash our problems away people. I’ve had enough.”

"That's why I'm taking you to my village. I'm tired of fighting. I just want to live where I feel safe. That is, if you would want to come with me," She said quietly, turning back towards him.

Bart got to his feet and embraced Elide. His good looks had been replaced by horrid scarred flesh that was still raw.
“That sounds like a perfect life.”

She hugged him back with a quiet sigh, "I'm glad." She said softly with a smile.
