A social person at heart; Seung Jae has a wide variety of friends. A lot of them he approached because they pertain the same interests as him. He gets rather enthusiastic when the conversations turn to topics he enjoys. Confidence and charisma are the main reason he can comfortably blabber on; or, perhaps it's his lack of self-awareness. It's strange to see him without a friendly smile; he only gets serious on certain occasions. Usually, he's overflowing with high spirits and platonic heart eyes.

Personal space? It's nonexistent to him. He has a habit of invading individual’s bubbles. Sometimes he'll sit too close to a friend, or get to close to their face while speaking to them. Bystanders usually see them as flirtatious moves, but close friends would know otherwise. He’s not completely dense and can understand social cues. But, he plays dumb and continues to butt into their personal space. He has a warped perception of love; after viewing various romance mangas. When in somewhat romantic situations; he wonders how it'd play out in the comics. Sometimes he even jokes it's like he's one of the characters.

biography

While growing up, Seung Jae heard many stories about his late father. To put it straight, the man was a horrible person. Seung Jae was quite young when he died, so he never had to experience his rein. But, he wasn't shielded entirely from him. In his younger years, he was plagued by his mother's emotional memories. She neglected him because she only saw him as a product of her deceased spouse. Heartbroken and neglected, he spent most of his nights without being tucked in or receiving a good night kiss. There was no true motherly figure in his life. And because of his mother's cruel words, he couldn't help but blame himself. He was the reason his mother resented him.

A change occurred when he turned twelve; his mother sent him to live with his elderly grandparents in the country. Although it was sweet, he always felt worried that they would pass away. After the second long summer, fourteen-year-old Seung Jae was shipped off to a private school in Seoul. It was quite far from his grandparents' home in Boseong. For the second time, he was all alone and pierced with a shattered heart.

The lonesome teenager decided to make the best of it. If he couldn't be surrounded by family, he'd surround himself with friends. Throughout his teenage years, he created a friend-family, and every summer, he tended to his real family. Though he was still yearning or his harsh mother's love, he was felicitous.

Something in him switched; his friends made him a new person. His grandparents noticed this change after the first year at the school. The student was more bubbly and animated; no longer gloomy and quiet. High school came to a close; he survived his unforgiving private academy. Since everyone was reaching the new chapter of their lives, the little friend-family was torn. Seung Jae didn't view this as an issue, and he too carried on with his life.

Now, he's a yaoi obsessed university student. :]

Instead he tries to put all he can into every relationship. Which, despite his often clumsy and awkward nature makes Ha-Neul a rather sociable person, often loving the art of a fumbling conversation. Always attempting to take an interest in anything his friends may love, even if his interest only goes as far as listening or prompting questions, he always seems to feel at peace when surrounded by his friends.
A dedicated student, Ha-Neul takes pride in his work and presentation, only ever wanting to show people work that he is truly proud of and even then he’ll grow shy if showing people his ‘poor’ work. Often going as far as possible to find the perfect image, even calling on friends to accompany him on his late night escapades, even if it only ends with them sat ordering cheap food somewhere. But often the competition had been set by their father, and often it wasn’t friendly.

Their father was a cold man. Whilst he loved his sons and wanted to see them grow up successful, he wanted this success more than their happiness. He cared well for them, buying whatever suited their latest whims, paying for whatever tutors they needed. But as far as affection went, he was a poor man. To him, it wasn’t needed, deciding that they would have the time for love once they were successful.

As their parents were separated they spent their weekdays with their father, or with whichever tutor they were scheduled to work with. All three were banned from their fathers gallery until they were 18 for fear they would break anything, or act childish around his customers. Their weekends however were spent under the glazed eyes of their mother. A kind woman, with more money than sense and a strange but well-meaning desire to ignore her children's voices in favour of appreciating their company, always believing she knows best for her children.

The brothers found that they grew closer in spite of their fathers constant pitting of one another. But as they grew older, more desperate to leave and find their own way, Ha-Neul grew lonelier, watching as his eldest brother left to study, and his younger brother worming his way into his father's heart.

Alone, he took to perfecting his portfolio’s, attempting to make it worthy of even his fathers approval gallery, almost desperate to be accepted into any school far enough from his family. In the name of art and photography he began taking midnight trains and suspect taxi’s where he would encounter all types of characters, people from all walks of life, sleeping, talking, crying. He loved them, wishing he could capture every moment without the risk of a confrontation. Even the strangers who would start speaking to others, Ha-Neul always being the person who spoke back.
