Fair Folk

Name him Kefka.  Have him laugh alot.


No, seriously, I find it best to give them a variety of names.  Especially if it's the same Raksha who keeps appearing.  Think about it, would he actually WANT people to know his real name?  Too much power can be had by names.  People can hold you to promises, etc.  Give him a variety of "mortal" names or titles...  Like, Davus, Tygron, Master of Chaos, etc.  What makes it even better, is if every time he appears a different name is given to or learned by the players.  After awhile they will A)  Believe it's not 1, but several Raksha they are dealing with.  Or B) Will give up all together trying to find out what his real name is.
 
I'd go with the multiple-names theme.


It would fit with the chaotic basis of the Fair Folk.
 
What if you could subtly convince the players to name it themselves?  Through this act they define it's shape, ability, and focus.  It starts off really shapelss and generalized in regards to power, and as it becomes more formed, it gains more tangible strenghs and weaknesses, and perhaps even a gender.  I'll have to try that.
 
That has sorta happened in a game I'm playing in. This Fae started off as an extra more to add some color to a scene than anything else. Well my Circle rather focused on the Fae so our ST decided to make the puppet master of Nexus's slave trade. Any way because it was supposed to be scenery as opposed to an important NPC we never were given its name. So my Eclipse character at one point sarcastically referred to it as "Precious" and the group took up the name in conversation. Some how the Fae found out about Precious and decided it liked the name.


Fae do not like to be bound by anything so they wouldn't want just one name, more they should collect name like some people collect hats.


Oh one of my character's favorite tricks is getting people to willingly feed themselves to Precious's hungers. It can be a very rewarding activity.

Hello all, long time reader, first post.


Grace are not allways equall to the corresponding virtue. The only proof i recall is in the creation summary p. 100 for Noble and p. 101 for common Raksha, where it is stated that you can buy each one with BP independently.


And our whinning failed to soften our ST's heart.
 
It's the feeding graces that are equal to the virtues, others start at 1, but may be increased higher, up to virtue, I believe.
 
Ah-hah. That fits better, given that Mr. Wordman was discussing how virtues and graces are not fully equivelant. I didn't want to offer an opinion on the matter, but having it somewhere in between makes sense.


If you're going by character templates, though, you'll be disappointed when you look closely at the systems. Deeper even than the random 4-point specialties and anomalous skills, dissect their attacks and they are found to just.. not add up. I point to the Chaun in Creatures of the Wyld as an example; apparently just strange humans, even more normal than wyld barbarians, but their attack statistics didn't balance with their sheets.


Still, if it discusses buying up graces, then it's slipped more into Character Creation already, so maybe there's some guiding force behind it. Well, as much as you'd expect out of fair folk and White Wolf.

A solar, no problem.  The Abyssal, no problem.  Nearly anything else by our 3rd member, sure thing (except for his 'walking mountain' mutated lunar with 15+ stamina).  Our 4th, most likely an Abyssal dark-paladin-esque 'saving you from life'.  Our loudmouth detractor who's known to cause issues during game and stray off-topic...  a Raksha...

Heart Grace is 2 for common starting raksha, 3 for nobles.


Graces start at 1, except for feeding graces (commoners start with one of these, nobles start with two), which start equal to the virtue upon which the Grace feeds.


I pretty sure, however, that after this, virtues and graces are completely independent. You could, for example, start with a Sword and Valor of 3, but raise Sword to 5 without changing Valor. If there are rules that say otherwise, I can't find them.

First session; a cheeky Solar hits him with Order-Affirming Blow and renders him a mortal.
 
I was thinking of convince the Aybssal characters to take the anti-Raksha charms and kill him for me.  It makes it exceptionally difficult to make an antagonist-Raksha when someone in the group is playing one.  Maybe I'll put the classic Realm as the 'supreme bad-guys'.  Tad overdone, though.
 
Oh good...  He decided to run a Solar after realizing how much of a headache shaping combat can cause someone IRL.

I thought the idea of an entire game of Mountain Folk workers pretty interesting.  It'd be like Office-Space.
 
Personally, I don't find the idea of a work game interesting...if I want to play a game about working, I'll just go to work. I play Exalted for a chance to play out heroics, epic romance, and so forth...not office politics and so forth. Still, if it's something you enjoy, well...enjoy. :)
 
But but the charts I was making, for success on a power point presentation were all most done. :lol:
