Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Elena fell backwards when the wind and snow finally disappeared. Relieved, she started laughing a bit. Leia and her would have had to explain what happened to the library if that lasted much longer. When Leia mentioned tv, Elena became more serious.

"Well, in a way all books do that. But instead of literal coming to life, on earth it requires a little patience. I couldn't afford a tv when I was younger and my mom didn't really stay home long enough to care about getting one. I'm grateful for that. Now I have the patience."

She said with an honest smile, then snapped out of her reminiscing and awkwardly chuckle.

"The map did the same thing, so probably."

Nyr was happy that Rose had rejoined them, it seemed like an eternity since they last met.

" It is an honor again, Rose. " she smiled then flew across the ruined bridge. She then raised her hand in the air.

" I might be able to commune with the wind spirits to show us the path - although I am not sure if they are familiar with this cave. This place has strange magic emanating from it. But not in a bad way... "

She touched the ice wall with her palm.

" These caverns are ancient, forged by hands beyond age. The spells... they resonate with eternity. "

She was now in awe. Never before did she visit a seat of power like this.

Luness gave Ward a nod before he left, shrugging when he asked if she needed anything.

Once Ward was gone, Luness was about to try and sit up on her own again, but stopped when Alta took the food and prepared to feed Luness.

Perking her ear towards Alta, Luness made a face about it at first, but decided that she really had no choice at this point.

Propping herself up a bit on her good arm, Luness grinaced when her pain spiked a bit and then muttered to Alta, "Thanks."

Luness then waited for Alta to feed her, her stomach already beginning to growl a bit under her aching ribs.

Rose smiled and waved to the three new faces and looked to Ward " Ya I can carry him ". She stopped and looked across the gap where a bridge used to be and swished her tail while turning to Leo. She had a smirk on her face she was inspecting his size the jewels on her golden necklace jingled.

Leo leaned over the side of the ravine and peered down into the inky darkness. "Yes, it is surprising to say the least that a plant could survive in a place such as this." He turned his gaze from the canyon to the dragon when he heard ward mention a flight across the gap. Seeing the smirk across the dragon girls face he smiled and gave her a nod giving her the ok to fly them across when she was ready.

" Maybe... just maybe... " Nyr said then shook her head. It was impossible... or was it?

" It is said that certain life forms - flowers and trees most commonly can soak in magic if they are exposed to them. Considering that these tunnels are eons old I would not be surprised if that flower had a residue from the magic of creation on it. "

Quincy followed along and listened to the conversation happily, enjoying the freedom of movement she felt. When introduced, she gave the female dragon a small wave, hiding a frown caused by a strange pang in her stomach. For the remainder of the walk to the fallen bridge, she wondered what it was, but couldn't figure it out. Standing at the edge, she looked down doubtfully, a little uncomfortable with crossing the ravine.

Leia started laughing too but her face fell when Elena started talking about her past.

"You really had it rough huh?" She said, her expression focused and thoughtful.

With a mischievous grin she plucked another book from the shelf. "Hey, I know I can't change the past, but what we do now? We can make that a hundred times better." She opened the book and from its pages a butterfly crawled, its wings iridescent purple and orange. It flew into the air and fluttered about the small room, then another appeared, then three more. in no time at all the room was alive with flapping wings and a riot of colour.

Leia laughed out loud as the creatures landed on her coat and in her hair.

Ward nodded as Anya tried to explain.

"That is a very powerful form of magic," he said, clearly impressed. "Not even the most skilled mages here can master that skill without the greatest amount of difficulty." He raised a talon to the pendant about his neck.

"This was crafted by one of the ancient sages. It can find people, but not objects, and even then it is somewhat temperamental. I used it to track down the humans that crossed into our world."

He knelt at the edge of the canyon and offered to carry Quincy or Anya on his back. Then with a great leap he soared to the other side. Allowing his passenger to slide safely into the snow. Patiently he waited for Anya to take the lead again.

Elena shrugged when it was mentioned how rough her past was. Though, she part she shared was the part she liked. Being alone with her books was the most pleasant thing she had. No matter if you live in France or Florida, Sherlock Holmes still lived with a war veteran in Baker Street.

"It wasn't terrible, but I love it here."

She grabbed her one book and turned to the page she opened the night before. A small bird make from ice materialized and fluttered about with the butterflies.

"I get it!!"

Anya looked intrigued by what Ward was telling her, her blue eyes widening. 'Could I really have advanced magic, like he says? Things must work differently for humans here. It's tiring, but I'm no ancient sage' She thought to herself. She excepted the ride from Ward, and once over she smiled, pleased that they could overcome the hurdle.

"Come on, this way, I think it's up there." She said, pointing vaguely up, where she pointed was currently just a ceiling, but evidently they were going to be in for an icy climb.

Quincy clambered aboard the griffin, trying not to tug on his feathers as she did. It was really just a short hop over the gap. Once on the ground on the other side she followed with a purposeful stride, taking in the cold air and ignoring the nagging feeling that she didn't like the new dragon. She had just met her, there was no room for dislike yet. The kelpie kept a lighthearted smile on her face, not worried at all by her own strangeness.

As they moved forward Nyr felt an uneasy feeling. Yes, she admired the ancient tunnels... but they also mesmerized her. She shook her head to resist the call of the wild untamed magic within the cave - she was not about to lose her composure, the last time was disastrous enough.

Taking a deep breath she pushed on with the purpose of getting the flower in her mind. The urge, however, did now stop.

Leia blew a butterfly out of her face and watched the bird with an enchanted expression. "Get what?" she asked, looking around the room to see if there were any more books that would yield pleasant surprises.

Ward Walked along beside them, looking nervously about as the walls got closer together.

"I didn't realize this place would be so...small." He changed back into a human and folder his arms against himself as if intimidated by the very air. Suddenly he noticed Nyr seemed mildly distracted and focused on her instead.

"Is something troubling you?" he asked, concern in his voice.

Alta fed Luness as much as she wished, setting the plate aside afterwards she noticed the werecat's things by the side of the bed.

"What's this?" She removed the guitar from the corner and held it up in one hand. he plucked a string carefully with another and smiled as it made a pleasant sound.

"Can you play it?"

@Lioness075

((Gotta go for now, see you all!))

"The books.. They sort of work like my book I think." Elena said, digging around for the storm book again. When she found it, she opened to the index first. Not any random page. She searched for a twister. Flipping pages too fast for the storms to appear, she found what she was looking for and set the book down. As the twister began, Elena hovered over the pages, hands out. This twister seemed contained under her control and as though it were boxed in. Elena closed her eyes, using her power to envision what she wanted the small storm to do. It moved about on the page, figure eight drawing and changing in size. Eyes still closed, she bent down on her knees and reduced the size of the twister as she did, closing the book calmly.

"I was right. I think it works like a prewritten version of mine. I'm not sure how I controlled it, but it feels like that's what it's made for."

Luness was inwardly thankful that Alta had helped her eat, despite her outward appearance of being irritated by the whole aspect.

Once she was done eating, Luness slowly lay back down, content with her full stomach.

Hearing the sound of her guitar, Luness' ear suddenly perked forward and she slowly eased herself back into a sitting position again with her back against the bedrest.

Seeing Alta holding her guitar, Luness cocked her head and then nodded at Alta's question, "It was one of the few things that I got from the human world." Luness had even learned a couple of the human songs while she had been in their world.

Now that she was missing a part of one of her ears though, it was questionable if she'd be able to still learn songs so easily. After all, it had been thanks to her strong hearing that she'd been able to learn how to play the guitar and sing so easily.

Yet, upon thinking about music, Luness' mind wandered to the lullaby that Alta had taught her. Thinking about the lyrics, Luness suddenly remembered her father's death from yesterday. Her eyes widened at the memory and she then suddenly fell silent, her expression of sadness and grief now.

The whispers were becoming restless and not even the winds were able to close them out. They whispered of eras long past, great kings and evil witches, dragons and knights... but some of them were whispering of something else. Some whispered of an impending doom, a darkness which loomed ahead.

Her hands were shaking from the flow of magic... she knew not why the exposure of the magic in the air was so big or why did it affect her, but she did not care. She would endure, as she did before.

She looked at Ward when he asked her.

" It is nothing, I just feel cold. " she said, making up the best tale she could.

Rose noticed the others where already across anf she picked up Leo by the back of his shirt and flew across. To her Leo barely weighted anything since she had dragon strength.

When she got on the other side and landed letti go of Leo she walked with the others smiling. She glanced to Quincy.

Leo watched as the chasm passed below him. He was plesently pleased that the dragon hadn't any problems holding him, but wasn't surprised. After all she was a dragon. Setting down on the icy ground, he continued on with the others. Listening to Nyr talk about the power of the cave, Leo became curious. He reached out with his senses of spiritual awareness and was astonished by the powers of the cave. Nyr had been correct, the powers of the cave were ancient and powerful. The theory of the flowers existence seemed more and more likely that the theory Ward presented was correct. "This flower might be an extremely powerful relic of this land. Is it possible that it might be bad idea to remove the flower?" He did not want to keep a present away from Elena, but always liked to ere on the side of caution when it came to ancient powers like this.

Rose was fine all through the walk...till they got deep in the cave her necklace got a eerie green glow. She winced stopping taking behind the others she felt a stab of pain rush up her spine from the necklace.

Quincy looked around at the others, unable to feel what they did. “I dont understand." She said, with a puzzled look. “I dont feel anything, it just a cave." The kelpie spun in a slow circle as she walked, stopping when she saw Rose in pain. “Ward!" She called, stepping to Rose and placing a hand on her shoulder. “Are you alright, dragon?" She asked, looking at the necklace around her neck as it glowed strangely.

Rose flinched from Quincy's touch and fell to her knees as the pain was unbearable. Her dragon mark on her left hand shaped like a rose madenof scales began to glow bright red. Her mark seemed to be fighting the enchantment on her necklace.

She was at a loss on what to do. “Tell me what to do, someone." She called, crouching next to the fallen creature. She could see a mark on the dragon's hand was now also glowing, which was either good or bad. Quincy had no way of knowing which it was. “Whats going on?!" She muttered, deciding that since the necklace had started glowing the same time the dragon started to be in pain, taking it off was the best course of action. She reached out and grabbed it, gasping when a bolt of pain shot up her arm. As she yanked her hand away, a finger got caught on the chain, pulling it downward hard.

The necklace didn't budge since the enchantment kept it around her neck she screamed as the pain only increased. Her mark sparked a flash of gold and the necklace cracked then finally broke off at the girls plea's of fear. Rose's breathing evened as she morphed into her true form.

Quincy backed up, giving a huff as the situation seemed to solve itself. “I sure hope Elena likes this flower." She muttered, nudging Rose gently. “Are you going to be alright?" She asked, watching her breathing. It was the only sign the dragoness was alive, so at least there was that.

Rose stood up and shook off she nodded " Yes ". She looked to Quincy " Thank you ". Rose sighed and licked the inside of her mouth
