Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Seeing everyone going their own ways for now, Luness wandered off again, finding herself alone once more. Thinking about the winter garments being sought for the group, Luness wondered if her winter coat of fur would be enough. Granted, her human form definitely needed warmer clothing, but Luness didn't really like using that form if she could help it. She couldn't stand humans after they had been responsible for her father's death. He'd been a werewolf, but to the humans he'd just been a big bad wolf that they had to kill.

Sighing, Luness went back to the party, though she headed straight for the refreshments table again. She wasn't used to having so much food up for grabs, but she wasn't about to pass up on such an opportunity. Upon arriving, Luness saw the reindeer nearby eating some blueberries. Freezing in her place, Luness' green and golden eyes watched the reindeer carefully, as Luness began planning in her mind how she was going to hunt down the reindeer. Shaking her head, Luness let out a low and confused growl. She wasn't about to attempt to hunt a reindeer in the presence of so many people, was she?

Elena listened through the talk, quieter and without complaint. She really did not mind the trip, or another fight. However, she has never experienced the cold. Even her home of origin was hot. The first time she had even felt snow was in Fablewood, and moments ago when the reindeer walked in was her first experience of winter air. It was... unpleasant? No. Too early to say. The party didnt seem its previous amount of cheer anymore. Looking around, she didnt see Ward. Knowing him though, the Gryphon was probably making preperations himself. Elena looked around for a moment more and slipped away through the exit. If he was going to prepare, so was she. It occured during the last mission that she played a role.. but at the same time, Elena wanted to protect others as well.

She soon finds a vacant section of the gardens, beyond that which was entered after they first arrived. Taking a lantern from the doorway and hanging it to bring light to the rectangular plot, she pulled out her book and sat down. First she drew the ballroom, just to catch the story up. She included dancing with Ward, the prince and princess, and the enterance of a reindeer to foreshadow the next climax to the plot. Then, she went to draw something else to have out on her wear. It was a fur lined strap for her arm that didnt hold most of the sword. On it was a thin, oval like shield, decorated like the sword. Removing it from the pages and trying it on, she found it to be heavy and hard to weild, but small and efficient. Like when she made the sword, it was a matter of exercising its use. She removed the sword too and got in battle ready position. One that she made for herself. She stood with bent knees, dominent foot out, sword arm back and defending on sword but in front of her body. Activating the vines from her book, she created a thin moving vine as a sparring partner.

Leo made his way back to the ball room. I figured that the preparations for the new trip would take some time and that Ward and the Princess would gather them once again when they were ready. He looked around having lost track of where Banba had gotten to now, he hoped she was not getting herself into trouble. Entering the ball room he made a short sweep of the room. People were still dancing and enjoying themselves, he was glad to see that the reindeer commotion hadn't caused the party to stop. His gaze fell on the refreshment table, where Luness was standing as still as a stature, her head turned poised on the reindeer. He realized the danger in a heart beat and slowly began to make his way closer to her. Silently as he could, he approached Luness at the table and with a slight clearing of the throat, tried to draw her attention away from her prey. "My Lady Luness, how are you enjoying the ball?"

@Lioness075

Blinking, Luness flickered her ears backwards at the sound of someone approaching her. Forcing herself to break her focus on the reindeer, Luness turned around and then immediately took a step backwards when she saw that Leo had approached her. Hearing his question, Luness replied, "I-I'm not used to such things." Looking around at the large amount of people all around her, Luness' heart skipped a beat and she added, "I'm not really used to being around so many people at once either." Luness' ears continued to flicker about, the noise surrounding her a constant buzz, as people chatted with one another and music played about. Luness could feel the building terror of knowing that so many humans were around her and instantly felt a strong desire to escape. Yet, she forced herself to control this fear, as she wanted to join this group in whatever odd quest it was that they were going on. If it meant that she'd be protecting her forest, then she'd help in whatever way possible.

Leo tried to be comforting to the young were-cat, a smile on his face as he listened to her. Although he did not use them very often as to maintain he civilized appearance, he was capable of using his more predatory instincts as well. He could hear Luness's heart pounding in her chest as she glanced around the room. "It can take some getting used to, large gatherings like this. And honestly, they do not happen very often." He looked over the ballroom again, the dancers swaying to the rhythmic flow of the music, while the chitchaters gathered in small numbers laughing at each others stories. He turned back to Luness "It is good to have such a noble and strong huntress on our team such as yourself. I'm not sure how you feel about the humans, but they require the help of those such as us. Im glad you have decided to aid them."

@Lioness075

Nodding at the mention of getting used to such large gatherings, Luness tried to take comfort in that, but she really didn't want to get used t the gatherings anyway. She just wanted to go back to the solitude and peaceful environment of her home, the dark forests. She wasn't used to being out and about during the day either. Her eyes kept having to focus on the bright lighting, and she could feel a slight headache coming about. Hearing Leo's mention of her aiding the humans, Luness' eyes flickered dangerously and she let out a low growl before saying, "I'm helping my forest, my home. Not some humans." She said the word, humans, with disgust, spitting it almost as she spoke it. She couldn't stand the thought of aiding some humans. The moment her forest was safe again, she'd be leaving this odd group behind. Humans had a bad history with Luness and she didn't intend on giving any of them a second chance anytime soon.

Banba had been paying attention to the conversation the others were having after Leo separated her from the reindeer, but the danger her already unstable mind was in didn't fully set in. The girl had been to the winter wilds before, frolicking as one snow creature or another among the icy ponds and harsh winds. She left the group first, standing to the side of the ballroom's dance floor, were people and creatures alike danced. The lizard girl stood, staring at all the girls and men in fancy dresses and suits. She looked down at herself, her feet bare, wearing an old pair of pants. She suddenly began twirling on the spot, until she stopped abruptly. Her feet were still bare but now she wore a simple, sleeveless gown, a pale blue in colour the flowed around her legs weightlessly. Her long hair braided simply. She grinned, swaying in time to the music dopily. She didn't often hear music, wandering aimlessly around the forests and fields, and certainly not like the music playing now. It was loud and regal, waltzing around the air.

Leo watched the dance floor, the rhythm of the dancers making the room feel uplifted. He watched Banba over to the side of the dance floor, smiling when he saw her change into the beautiful gown she had chose. "It seems that the hatred for humans is something that many people share in this world." He began to think back on his years with the previous guardian during his training period. "When i was still training to be a guardian, my mentor told me that if you harbor hatred for something, that hatred will slowly kill you in the most painful way you can imagine." He glanced back at Luness, "Everyone has a past. Its best not to let that past make your present filled with hatred. I hope one day you will be find that the humans might not be as bad as you think. Until then, i am still very glad that you lend a hand to us, no matter what your reasons are."

Luness watched Leo's gaze shift to the people dancing about and then to the other shapeshifter, whose name Luness did not know. Hearing out on Leo, Luness frowned slightly and then said in response, "Humans ruined my life, why should I bother giving them a second chance?" It wasn't like Luness knew anything other than her past after all. She'd lived in solitude since her mother died when she was only three years old. In fact, this was the first time Luness had a normal conversation with someone. It was odd to her and she wasn't sure how to feel about it.

Leo understood the young huntress all to well. It was hard to get over something in your past that left a scar so deep. At that thought Leo reached and brushed the scar across his eye. "Second chances are one of the hardest thing in the world to attempt. But you shouldn't plane those who are here now, for the pasts mistakes. If it was not that way, I would never enjoy the company of Banba, or any of the other shifters in our party...." Leos past began to flood his mind, a road he was not fully intent on sharing just yet.

Luness scoffed at this and muttered, "Easier said than done." She then turned away from Leo, feeling herself becoming more frustrated with herself than anything. Grabbing some random choice of meat from the refreshment table, Luness absentmindedly chewed on it while her focus returned to the reindeer. So carefree, unaware...Luness flickered her ears towards the reindeer again, her mind returning to the forests. Blinking away the vision, Luness abruptly turned on her heel and brushed past Leo, heading back outside once more. Once outside, Luness closed her eyes and breathed deeply, trying to clear her now muddled mind. What was wrong with her?

Overhearing their conversation, Zelnite started to think about his past, looking up for a good while. Then he chuckled, he always thought we was the only one with a messed up past. He got another glass of wine, and went outside. "Hey, Luness, right? " he said in a joyous voice

@Lioness075

Leo sighed as he could feel the conversation slipping away. Just as she walking past him, Leo made one last comment to Luness "Luness, if you need it, I will be here." Leo wanted the group to know that he would be willing to listen if that was required. He was indebted to the group for saving his home, and to the new members for continuing to fight against the growing darkness. He watched the werecat disappear out of sight and turned back to the ball. He smiled and began to make his way over to Banba. When he approached he bowed playfull to his excitable friend, "My what a beautiful gown Banba, you chose wisely."

@Jecklyn

Hearing Leo's comment when she brushed past him, Luness stiffened, but continued on her way. She was in no mood to talk about herself and probably never would be. Luness snapped out of her thoughts though, when someone approached her. A quick sniff told her it was a human. Hearing him speak to her, Luness whirled around and growled at him, her eyes glowing. "Don't speak to me, human," she spat. With the constant tension, Luness really wanted a smoke right about now. Yet, she didn't want to appear to be one of them. At least, not while in their presence.

@PhantomNightmare

The shifter didn't notice someone approaching her until Leo was bowing to her. She grinned, giving a very poorly done half-curtsy half-bow back.

"The bee hums its way along the flowers, but the flowers have no need for the song." She stated, matter of factly, until a loud and more boisterous song started to play, less waltzing then the rest of the music of the night. Banba's eyes lit up with glee, and she gripped Leo's hands, pulling him away from the wall as she stared moving dancing. The dance, however graceful and lively it looked, could have just as easily been her making stuff up on the spot, but it did follow the beat as she twirled and stepped and giggled like a child at their birthday party.

"Huh? Why not?" Zelnite said, still smiling "Is it bad to have a little smalltalk?" He said before taking a seat next to her. He won't care if she would attack him, he just wanted to let her get used to humans if she wanted to go with the group.

Luness growled again and stood, finding this human to be irritable. Crossing her arms across her chest, Luness said, "I don't do small talk, now leave me be." Frowning at this human, Luness could only wonder why he was pestering her. It was frustrating, but Luness couldn't help but be curious and so she stayed...at least, for now.

@PhantomNightmare

((Sorry for disappearing, had chores, and then guests @DawnAntalios ))

Ward led Nyr back to the others, where the music drifted gently on the breeze. "I think you are confusing 'beautiful' for 'silly'." He joked light-heartedly. The dancing carried on and Ward watched with content. He hid his laugh at Banba trying to persuade Leo to dance, jumping and twirling with pure joy. He tried to remember a time when he was so carefree. It took him a while to realize someone was waving at him. A short figure in a pointy had that slumped backwards onto a simple blue cloak. The figure's face was obscured from view.

"Grendwen." He said softly. He scanned the faces for Leo and nodded as he caught the big cat's eye. It was coming time to leave.

His thoughts suddenly turned to another: he looked around for Elena but did not see her right away. Chastising himself for starting to worry he went in search of her.

Leia sat back and laughed as Banba tried to get the big cat-man to dance. She grinned at Anya. "More fun than any normal party for sure."

(Sorry @SilverFlight!)

Lexi turned at the voice of invitation, happy to see a girl finally trying to talk to her. No one in the party have really get to know her except of course, Mira and Nyr, who she can't spot recently. Maybe they don't approach her because of her hair. White hair can definitely be seen as "weird" but if someone ever visited this place, they should know how to tell the difference between actual weird and something normal.

Smiling, her mood brightened more so, nodding. "Yeah, let's do that cause I lost my weapons..." her voice faltered before she smiled again. "I don't know the way though..."

"Fine, I might be annoying you" Zelnite said before getting ready to leave. "Till we meet again" He smiles before going to a bench beside the garden. Then he started talking to his sword, to others, it looked like he was talking to himself but what they dont know is that the blade was actually alive. "I bet she hates humans a bit too much"

((No prob :P ))

"Come one then." Leia said in a friendly tone. She led Lexi to the forge room and let them in. The door hadn't been locked. The sun was setting now but there was still enough light to lead her friend to the weapons room.

She opened the door and light flooded onto an unimaginable store of sharp and pointy things. Anything that you could imagine that poked, prodded or bludgeoned was hanging on those walls.

"Pick what you want. I'll tell Trinde later." She had a feeling he may be cross with her for doing this on her own, but they were sort of in a hurry weren't they?

( It is fine IRL is priority over everything )

Nyr walked into the ball room and was stunned. Everyone were having a great time: dancing, laughing, having fun while eating from the feasts and drinking from the bottles. All was so merry, so alive it was very strange for her, it was alien.

Still too alien.

Standing back she waved at Ward, urging him to go on and have fun.

" Go ahead and dance, you more than deserve it. I think I will just stay here and... observe, yes that is the proper word. "

With that she made her way to a bench and sat down, looking at the merry crowd. She did not how to dance, or how to have fun at all. But they looked so happy... so she was happy too. She looked at her companions and smiled.

" They are having a great time. I couldn't ask for more. " she thought in herself.

Elena continued sparring for a while. Her movements were getting swifter and the thin oval shield was lighter than when she first started. Giving up on fighting the plant, she allowed it to take a form. Taking out her book and putting away her weapons, she shaped it in the form of the princess and the prince when they saw each other again, moving the lantern to the hand of the princess.

Then Elena sat on the grass, her eyes taking in the colorful night that Fablewood held. She thought of her next adventure, and her companions. How to keep everyone safe and how to beat the beasts. Then she thought of Ward for the thousandth time that night. Unsure of why, she tried to shake it out of her head.

"Today was just eventful... Nothing's wrong.." She said to herself, trying to be convincing to her own mind.

Lexi was slightly blinded at the reflected light from the sharp pointy things that could seriously hurt someone, in which she was scared of. 'Okay Lex, pick something' her conscience urged as she blinked between equipment. It was a hard decision.

Since they would be traveling in snow, with the thick clothing, it should be right for her to pick something light, useful, and fully capable in the conditions of the cold weather. Bows are just a no-no since they may not meet their mark with the strong winds. Besides, Lexi was still unsure of her capability. Picking a spear like before wouldn't be her best choice either since she never used it and would probably fail miserably trying. 'Why are ye so negative Lex?' her conscience chimed in, unimpressed by Lexi's current state. Lexi ignored the question posed and kept looking, wondering if any of the weapons contain magical properties that she could use.

Lexi nudged Leia slightly, looking at her with a 'help-me-with-something' face. "What do ye suggest fer me?" she asked for the girl's opinion.

Luness watched the human leave, wondering why he'd been so curious about her and intent to talk with her. Letting out a small sigh, Luness began walking through the gardens until she found a lone area. She was surrounded by mostly vegetation, though a small stone path led straight to where she was. Feeling that she was safely alone, Luness shifted into her human form. Her long back hair flowed in a slight breeze while she took her guitar off her back and carefully lay it down in front of herself. Sitting down indian style, Luness then fished out her cigarette pack from her knapsack and her lighter as well.

Within seconds, Luness had a lit cigarette and propped her head against her hand while her elbow rested on one of her knees. Puffing out some smoke, Luness wondered what mess she'd just gotten herself involved with. Looking over herself, Luness realized that wearing just a tank top and some cargo shorts were definitely not going to work in the winter environment. Despite not wanting to shift into a human in the presence of the others, she may have to at some point. Plus, she wasn't about to turn down some free change of clothes.
