Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Elena blinked twice as it worked for the most part. She picked up another stick and came upon a realization. They seemed to be harmless enough if you avoid the teeth. With her two sticks, she ran in front of the retreating part of the group, preparing to fight them off.

"Wawd! I can help. Is theyah a way to lead them somewheyah they can't wefowm? Off a cliff maybe?"

She asked, getting into the midst of a group of wolves, speed and agility not too effected by change of age, treating the sticks like double swords.

"Ow a distwaction that would give us time to leave?"

She stood, blocking the path to Luness and Leandra as well. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to avoid all the wolves attacks though, bracing herself for pain.

Otto continued to dig despite the please and words said against the flying dirt. It wasn't until he felt the log begin to shift that he yelped and jumped back out of the way. Leo pushed and pushed until the log rolled away and he took a deep breathe. that had been much harder to do with his tinier frame. Leo looked at the little puff balls as they ran to their parent and smiled. When Otto came up to Leo and sat on his haunches he couldn't help bu laugh when he saw the dirt and mud stuck to the pups face and paws.

His laughter was quickly interrupted by the sound of the other wolves, which sent Otto's hair on end and he two began to growl back. Leo looked down at the little wolf and yelled at him "No Otto! You go with Luness. GO. WITH. LUNESS." Leo wasn't sure if Otto could understand but the little puppy turned his tail and zoomed right behind Luness as they climbed the hill. Leo heard Ward yell and realized he was indeed scarred. "Hold on Ward. I'm coming." Leo finally said triumphantly as he headed straight for the wolves. With a very small leap, and the most adorable lion cub roar he could muster, Leo landed on the wolf with his claws and teeth and began to try and get at any part of the wolf that he could reach.

It seemed the next step was to explore the floating island. Tricky things, floating islands. Vinter personally preferred the sea over the sky, but it had its charm. Vinter whistled a sea shanty as the group ventured deeper into the caves, between the rocky walls. They reached a dead end of sorts. Their way was blocked off by water. A knee-high pool. Kallin was the first to step through, followed by Ward. Soon enough she heard the child scream. At least that's what Vinter thought. Upon closer inspection, it was actually Kallin, talking which made her eyebrows shoot out giving Vinter a shocked look on her face. "Kallin?" Vinter watched as the rest of the group passed through the pool. "Uh...I'm not sure I...". Shee took in her doubts and put her serious face on, advancing through the water. When she emerged from the other end, she felt weird. Vinter quickly turned back and searched for her reflection. She realized with shock that she looked exactly the same as she looked when she and Lucille were in Hook's Crew. "I'll be damned...I'm twelve again!" Vinter touched her own face and realized that this was indeed not an illusion. She was amazed. So amazed in fact that she still didn't believe. Vinter pinched herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming. She was not. "Kallin! What is this...I don't. Ugh..." As she turned around to face him, Vinter noticed that a monkey had taken the map and the group followed after it. She stayed behind the group, visibly shaken by the whole ordeal. Vinter waited for the others to get the map back and when they did she felt a little uneasy. They were soon surrounded by wolves made of water. "Oh great..." She didn't notice Luness' downfall from earlier, but Vinter started running in the direction Kallin told them to. She bolted in his direction catching up to him. "Kallin... tell me this isn't permanent..." A part of her wanted to go back to the ship on the spot, but those thoughts were quickly shed.

The wolves advanced on Elena and Ward, now at her side. Each of Elena's attacks stunned the wolves for a few seconds, but they could see that just hitting them wasn't going to deter them for long.

"I don't think there are any cliffs to drop them off, we're already at the bottom!" he looked frantically to the cliff walls ringing the island. There had to be another way. Ward leapt at one wolf as Elena beat off several more. On launched itself at her back, but a roar signaled Leo's arrival and the wolf fell underneath him.

The dirt on the ground got caught int he wolf's body, turning it a murky brown.

"We need a way to slow them down...what slows water down?" Ward cried.

@Aldur Forgehammer @everyone else

Elena kept fighting. It became obvious that they were recovering faster each time. She however was only so fast as a five or six year old. She heard Ward and tried to think harder about it. She watched the wolf Leo attacked get contaminated with dirt and a couple ideas came to mind.

"Diwt.. They would be slowah if they wah mud... Ow cold would make them ice."

She cursed her impediment and hoped the others understood what she was trying to say. She was distracted by that thought for hardly a moment. As they wolves closed in on her, she had no more time to react. She was frantically attempting to defend herself. She felt something sharp on her leg and then searing pain. A memory went through her head. She must have kept the scars from around this age. Her body reacted to it for a moment by flinching, then she recovered quickly enough to stab the stick through its head, taking off running to distract until she could figure out what to do.

Luness continued sprinting like all hell was breaking loose, which it was in her mind.

Suddenly, Luness no longer saw the hill before her or the ruins just beyond. All she could see was the dark forest and vegetation surrounding her, as she fled away from Bigby's packmembers in the dark of the night.

Hearing the baying of the wolves behind her, Luness mewled in fear and doubled her efforts, only to find her vision shifting back to the present in time to see herself at the top of the hill and tumbling head over paw down towards the ruins just beyond.

With her vision going every which way and seeing the sky, dirt, and ruins repeatedly, Luness could only hope that she wouldn't crash headlong into any stone ruins beyond the hill itself.

Leandra cursed at her lack of aid in this moment, but quickly pulled out her ataff in time to smack one of the water wolves upside the head.

While it didn't stop the wolf entirely, it did pause to reform its head again, giving Leandra enough time to distance herself a bit.

Reaching the hill, Leandra began breathing heavily, as she began to quickly climb it as fast as her short legs would carry her.

Yet, before she could reach the top, Leandra heard another wolf bearing down on her and she turned around in time to be tackled by the wolf, though she brought her staff up just in time for the wolf to bite down on it instead of Leandra.

Struggling against the wolf on the hill, Leandra's arms strained against the wolf's strength, as she did her best to keep the wolf from biting her while it bit into her staff instead.

Upon hearing Kallin's answer, Vinter felt at ease again. She tried to clear her mind when she saw Kallin lunge backwards for one of the wolves and felt immediately angry as another hurt him. She pulled out her flintlock, not knowing exactly if her bullet could do anything against water, but she took aim anyway. "Aim...fire!" Vinter roared, as the bullet went straight through one of the wolves' head, splashing the water everywhere. Of course, the wolf regenerates completely and goes for Vinter. Who would have thought, really? She grabbed her sword and drew it, slashing at the wolf. "Kallin... a little magic would come in handy just about now." She hated her high-pitched pre-teen voice. Last time she was this young, Vinter could barely even face Hook alone. For once she felt vulnerable. She was getting desperate...or was she?

@SilverFlight

"Mud...that's it!" Ward leapt after the wolves going for Elena. he reached one and tackled it, forcing its body onto the earth and rolling with it, trying to pile as much dirt into it as he could. The wolf reeled, but its legs began to move stiffly. When Ward jumped away the creature was stumbling. Satisfied that it couldn't keep up he bounded away and went after the others.

Ahead of them the hill dropped off steeply, leaving an open area of sandy earth.

"Elena! There!" He called to her. "If we can get them into that we can stop them!"

@Aldur Forgehammer @Lioness075

Leo snarled and screached at the wolf under him until it got the bright idea to put its feet underneath him and kick him off. Leo went bouncing across the ground towards Ward and Elena until he slid to a stop. He looked up at them with a stupid grin and rose to his feet. He watched as Ward and Elena went darting after the wolves and began to cover them in....dirt? Leo felt like he had missed something but none the less he eagerly looked back at the wolf he had been ridding and smiled. HE charged the beast once again but this time instead of jumping he leened his shoulder in and drove it hard into the wolf sending it spiriling backwards towards the soft earth Ward pointed out. Once the wolf had landed, Leo followed through and scooped up handfulls of dirt and began to toss it onto the wolf, laughing as a child playing in the.....well.....dirt.

@SilverFlight @Bea Delaine

Otto continued on his way following Luness. He didn't fully understand if it were the rapid movement of the cat, or what Leo had yelled of him that made him want to keep chasing her until his leggs fell off. At one point he completely forgot why he was even running and just began to bark and yip as he tore after Luness.

@Lioness075

Elena managed to get some distance, looking down to see blood streaming down her leg into her shoe. She felt sickened for a brief moment, but knew her child self has seen worse. She looked back up to Ward and the wolves. She nodded at his instructions and decided to make a run for it, limping ever so slightly as she sprinted up the hill.

She picked up rocks and threw them at the wolves from a distance, to aggravate them.

"Heah! Twy to get me!!"

She shouted in a pitchy voice. When one wolf came, hopefully followed by the others, she ran towards the mounds as fast as she could. The wolves were faster though. One hit her back and sent her toppling down the hill with a small yelp. If all went to plan, they would all join her.

Finally stopping in her tumble down the hill, Luness righted herself so she was sitting on her haunches before she wiped down on her head to get some grass and dirt clots off of her and out of her fur.

Once satisfied, Luness then looked ahead to see a large stone arch just ahead of her and ruins beyond it.

Temporarily forgetting about the wolf attack, as her attention span was very short at this age, Luness then stood up on all fours and trotted inside of the ruins, curiously looking about without thinking of any potential dangers that the ruins could hold.

Pausing when she heard Otto's barking and yipping behind her, Luness turned around to face him and grinned toothily at him when she saw his excitement at chasing after her.

Crouching down and shaking her rump a bit in the air, Luness then let out a playful mewl before whipping around and running away from Otto as if they were playing chase.

Leandra gritted her teeth and then brought up her feet to kick her water wolf in the chest, making it dissolve for a moment, which was enough time for Leandra to scramble to her feet and begin quickly kicking dirt onto the water wolf.

Once it seemed hindered enough, Leandra rushed up the hill with her staff in hand, fresh bite marks on it.

Getting to the top, Leandra halted for a moment in amazement, as she'd never seen ruins like these before.

Looking down the hill, Leandra's eyes widened when she saw Elena taking a tumble.

Sprinting down the hill while doing her best to keep her balance, Leandra soon was in front of Elena's tumbling form and she tried to intercept her, though she only succeeded in falling onto her back with Elena beside her. At least she'd stopped Elena from continuing to tumble.

@Bea Delaine

The wolves tried to stop at the edge, some slipping down after Elena and their comrade. Ward would have none of that though. He barreled into them from behind, sending the entire pile careening off the edge and into the sand, which began sucking up the water thirstily.

The wolf under Leo's assault had by now turned to thick mud and tried to come after them in slow motion, a scene that wasn't in the least bit frightening.

When the immediate threat was over Ward changed back into a boy and slid down to where Elena and Leandra were.

"You're hurt!" he said, summoning a ball of healing energy to his hand.

"We need to be careful...we're all vulnerable like this..." He gave her a worried look, but there was pride there as well, he was proud of her. He pressed the energy to her wound and repaired it slowly. He felt the drain a good deal more but pretended no to. Hindsight it may have been more prudent to let Leandra do the healing, but logic was rarely the forerunner of Ward's mind in matters involving Elena.

"I hope the others are doing ok too. We should catch up to them."

@Bea Delaine @zCrookedz @Lioness075

((Totally forgot about Leia!))

Leia dealt her fare share of blows to the wolves, but Lee was just no match for them being the size of a bunny. Bob however, once Elena had pointed out that earth slowed them was having a great deal of fun spraying an unsuspecting beast with clods of thick earth. Once the wolves were sufficiently subdued she jumped down the hill and slid into the sand by Leo.

"Ha!" She breathed. "They weren't so tough!"

@zCrookedz

Elena was both grateful and sorry when she ended up barreling into Leandra, which stopped her fall. She sat up quickly and looked over the other girl with worry.

"Thank you.. But.. Did I huwt you?"

She asked quietly, looking back up the hill to see Ward in his little boy form running over to her. The wolves were taken care of. Her plan seemed to work. When Ward came over to heal her, she was worried again.

"Won't that waste youwah magic? It's not that bad, I pwomise.."

He healed her anyways. She noticed he looked proud, and her childhood face couldn't mask a gleam. Looking back to Leandra, and standing up, she held out a hand.

"You alwight?"

Leandra was dizzy from her tumble at first, but by the time she'd recovered, Elena was holding out a hand for Leandra to take.

Grinning at Elena, Leandra took her hand and was soon standing in front of Elena while saying sheepishly, "Yeah, I'm okay. Might have a bruise or two, but nothing major."

Glancing over at Ward, Leandra shared Elena's concern, as she said, "My healing may be impaired, but it'd probably be best if I did the healing until my powers are exhausted."

Nodding at the mention of catching up, Leandra began walking towards the ruins while saying over her shoulder, "I think Luness and Otto beat all of us to these ruins."

@Bea Delaine @SilverFlight

Leo watched as the wolf began to grow slower and slower, while also changing color. Leo laughed as Leia joined him and the wolf slowed to pretty much a halt. He walked over to the wolf and gave it a shove back down into the dirt and put a foot on the beasts shoulder. He raised a balled fist up into the air and smiled triumphantly. "Leo, slayer of mud wolves!" He began laughing as he looked up to the others.He looked to Leia and motioned to follow "Come on Leia, lets go catch up with Kallin and the others." He smiled as he turned from the muddies wolf and began following Ward and Elena towards the others.

@SilverFlight @Bea Delaine

Otto watched as Luness stopped and looked at Otto. He recognized the look of playful banter with the tail wiggle. He too stopped and began to wiggle his butt back and forth until he pushed off the ground and began running at full speed towards Luness, smiling and barking as he did so.

@Lioness075

((sorry, short post is short))

Arianne was mesmerized by her surroundings. Everything was so eerily familiar... it was as if she had been here before but... somehow she could not recall anything. Even time seemed to slow down as she wondered around aimlessly, completely oblivious to the threat to the others. She wondered whether she could stay here forever... in these strange mystical forests which were serene and calm. It would have been much easier to sit back and relax... not caring about anything else...

But then a warm, female voice called for her.

" Have you forgotten your mission, Arianne? "

She looked around, puzzled. The voice was familiar yet she could not recognize it precisely? Was it her mother perhaps?

It mattered not as the voice was correct. Only now did she realize that the others were in trouble and she headed over to meet them. Soon enough she caught up with Leo and Leia who just seemed to vanquish some evil creature. She immediately ran to them.

" Are you all right? Do you need help? "

@Aldur Forgehammer

Quincy, startled by the appearance of the wolves, squealed and ran after Luness and Otto. She was so startled that she didnt stop to think about those behind her, or about the now tiny bow and quiver strapped to her back. She came to a halt at the arch, as Luness and Otto played, and stared up at it with awe.

(lame post is lame)

"Actually, I was thinking about that Nyr." Kallin said thoughtfully, getting up and straightening his hat. "Out of everyone with healing magic, I think you might be the only one who could even try healing me in this state." He showed her his arm and the mangled robes leaking black mist.

"I know you're not really very confident with your powers right now, but...could you try?"

@Aldur Forgehammer

Achyls stepped up to the others, flapping her wings steadily, matching the rhythm of her breathing as it calmed down. She moved her shoulder around a bit, but it started to sting and so she had to stop. Upon entering the ruins, she couldn't help overhearing Kallin talking about flying. Grinning to herself, she took to the air, surprised she could hold herself up so well.

"Uh...Kallin? If you need a raven...to fly...I'm here," she muttered hesitantly, not sure whether to speak out or not. She seemed a lot more hesitant than she was as an adult, and she hated herself for it.

"Achyls! Stop being such a wimp, take some initiative!" a voice in her head yelled at her. The voice belonged to none other than herself, as she was now. She forgot about her mental scorning, thought she'd shaken it...obviously not.

@SilverFlight

Grinning like an idiot, Luness ran around the ruins for a bit with Otto chasing after her before she came skidding to a halt upon hearing Kallin speaking nearby.

Hearing what Kallin had to say, Luness gulped and anxiously shifted on her paws before looking at Otto and saying, "Otto, go with Leo for now, okay? I've got some...business to attend to."

Sighing, Luness then trotted up to Kallin before glancing up at him and saying a bit nervously, "All right, lead the way, Kal."

Hopefully this youth spell would wear off soon enough. Luness was constantly struggling to stay focused.

Leandra let out a sigh of relief once the fight with the wolves was over and everyone was safe with only minor injuries here and there.

Admiring the ruins upon approaching them, Leandra stared up at them with her mouth wide open in awe.

Hearing Leia's unease, Leandra shifted her gaze back down and then confidently smiled at Leia before saying, "Come on, we can handle anything that's thrown at us. No problem!"

Passing Ward, Leandra then went back to admiring the ruins once more, her child side being amazed by the size of the ruins, especially compared to her.

Hearing Achyls offering her aid nearby, Leandra smiled at the raven before saying to her, "Well, we're all supposed to be moving on and so Kallin might just prefer to climb and figure out the rock face on his own."

Shrugging after saying this, Leandra then began itching at her back, as the annoying itch had returned even in her child form.

@SilverFlight @SkywardSocks

Kallin looked a little uneasy, but grateful at Achyls' offer.

"Its really high up. But take Luness if you can. She's probably lighter.

After that Kallin gave his friends a determined nod and started towards the cliff.

Ward watched him go and wished him luck under his breath, then went to follow after the rest of the group. The archway continued for about 50 paces, smooth and patterned stones spiralling about the walls, intertwined with more reliefed figures. Almost every portion of the wall was glistening with fresh water. At length they came to a large open platform of smooth marble which narrowed into a bridge across a deep azure pool. Ward gazed into it and could see tiny fish glinting in the sunlight which poured in from an opening in the roof.

It wasn't until a moment had passed that he realized a figure was already there.

"Hello there!" Ward called, not entirely sure if this was an explorer like them or a guardian in disguise.

@divyansh @everyone else

Nyr was a bit afraid at Kallin's request, but she stepped closer nonetheless. Seeing the wound he had she wanted nothing more than to help him and aid the cursed mage to the best of her abilities. Furrowing her brows she put her tiny palm on the wound and concentrated. She felt a small surge of darkness leaving her hand once again - but this time it was at her command, not randomly. Surprised at this she pressed forward, pouring even more energy into Kallin and seeing with a surprise that the wound was slowly closing then disappearing.

Stepping back in surprise she looked at him and then her hands.

" How... " she mused, surprised. She never could harness her powers like this when she was little... then what could have changed?

She snapped out of this when she heard that they needed a way to get to the fountain. Seeing how Achyls offered to give them a lift she also transformed. The dread raven was now much much smaller, but still bigger than Kallin or Luness by a feet or two. Spreading her wings she nodded at the mage.

" If my sister can carry Luness then I shall carry you, Kallin. " her young voice echoed in the mage's mind. She turned to the chasm, readying herself to fly.

@SilverFlight @SkywardSocks @Lioness075

Achyls nodded, looking to Luness.

"If you do not wish to fly...it is fine," she told her, though putting on a saddened expression in hopes to manipulate her into coming with her. Seeing Nyr transform, she immediately felt a pang of useless. Her wings were all she had in this form, her powers had not even come to fruition, she felt much less than a raven by Nyr's side. That being said, she had a job to do, and turned her attention back to Luness, her arms outstretched, waiting for her to decide whether to fly or not.

@Lioness075 @DawnAntalios

Luness mewled in protest the moment Kallin suggested Achyls carry her up the cliff face.

Stubbornly, Luness ignored Achyls and bounded straight at the cliff face before leaping up and beginning to climb it, though she nearly lost her footing a few times along the way.

About halfway up though, Luness chanced a glance behind herself to see her progress and ended up wide-eyed and frozen in place at the sight of how far up she was.

Folding her ears against her head, Luness then whimpered before looking back up and shakily attempting to continue climbing despite her initial fear.

Yet, she only got a few feet higher before she grabbed at a loose rock and soon was dangling by one paw and yelping in terror.

Leandra followed Ward through the ruins, continuing to admire her surroundings while wishing she had her nice camera with her. This place was definitely photogenic.

Suddenly, Ward called out to a small figure in the distance and Leandra instinctively tightened her grip on her staff, as she waited to see if the stranger was friendly or foe.

@SilverFlight @divyansh

Leo looked to Leia as she spoke. HE could see there was something bothering her and when he followed her eyes to the little earth spirit beside him, Leo began to wonder. He hadn't really noticed before, more than likely caused by the distractions and over joy of being so young again, but this place hummed with a strange esence. Not only that, but he felt like the group was being watched. The more he concentrated on it, the more it creeped his younger self out, but made his old mind begin to question everything around them. He looked back up to Leia and gave her a smile "Don't worry Leia. Bob probably doesn't like that the ground is floating in the sky like this." A hollow comfort he knew, the little earth spirit was weary about something.

Once they made it to the top of the hill and the groups began to splinter apart, Leo followed Ward and the others but called out a cheerful
"Good Luck!" to Luness and Kallin as they began to climb.

@SilverFlight @Lioness075

Otto was happily playing with Luness in and around the strange ruins when she suddenly stopped. Not being prepared for the stop, he slid forward and straight into her back where he fell back on his haunches and looked up at her with a panting grin. When Luness spoke of leaving, Otto cocked his head to the side and whimpered as she made her way over to Kallin. Though his mind had reverted back to his younger days, Otto still remembered asking Kallin if he could go with them to be there for Luness. But when the pup reached the top of the hill with the others and saw what Luness and Kallin had to overcome to get to said spring, Otto sighed. Without being able to shift, he had now way to go with them. So, with his head drooped downwards, and his tail not wagging, Otto sombered towards the others as instructed.
